Girls Basketball
Franklin, 35 vs. Central Catholic, 54 – FinalFranklin led 23-20 at halftime but was outscored 34-12 in the second half to end its win streak at 54 games. It was the first loss for the Panthers since the 2019 state semifinal. It was both the most points that the Panthers have allowed this season and the fewest points they have scored. Ashley Dinges scored 24 (14 in the third quarter) and Calire Finney scored 18 (12 in the fourth) to lead the Raiders. Katie Peterson scored 10 points for Franklin, including eight in the first half. Stefany Padula (6-of-7 on free throws) and Olivia Quinn both scored eight points in the loss. Franklin will face Bridgewater-Raynham in the consolation round on Sunday.

Canton, 1 @ Barnstable, 2 – FinalBarnstable scored twice in the third period to end Canton’s six-game win streak. Payton McDonough scored with about 90 seconds left to cut the lead to one. Carolyn Durand made 16 saves in the loss.

King Philip, 3 @ Dennis-Yarmouth, 2 – FinalThree different players found the back of the net for the Warriors to help them pick up the road win. Morgan Cunningham, Sydney O’Shea, and Ally Donovan each scored and Jen Daniels and Meg Sherwood had assists for KP.

The Warriors cut the deficit in half before the first intermission but OA tacked on a fifth goal to make it 5-2 going into the second. After a scoreless second period, Foxboro senior Steve Bridges scored midway through the third to make it a two-goal game but OA junior Sean McCarthy completed his hat trick moments later to restore the three-goal cushion. Sophomore defenseman Sean Kearns added a pair of goals and an assist and senior Elliot Cohen chipped in with a goal and an assist for the Tigers. Jack Corey notched a pair of assists while Matt Lawson, Jack Perron, and Andrew Poulos each had one assist.

Franklin, 13 @ Mansfield, 5 – FinalJustin Magazu scored four goals and had one assist and Dylan Marchand scored one and had five assists, as the Panthers won a shootout against rival Mansfield that moved them closer to a league title. Magazu scored twice in the first period along with goals by Domenic Lampasona and Christian Shabbick, as Franklin led 4-1 after one. Dillon Benoit (two goals and two assists) had the goal for the Hornets. Franklin added nine goals in the third period. Shabbick scored two to complete his hat trick, Magazu added two more, Ben Paterson scored twice, and Lampasona, Marchand, and Thomas Balducci each scored once. Benoit added his second goal for Mansfield. Matt Tourigney got one in the third and Kyle Oakley added two for the Hornets in the third period. Franklin finished with a 42-20 edge in shots. Cole Pouliot-Porter made seven saves and Joe Toracco made eight stops for the Panthers.

Canton, 3 @ Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 2 – FinalAllie McCabe had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs to help them pick up an important league win and sweep the season series with the Warriors.

Franklin, 4 @ King Philip, 6 – FinalClick here for a Photo Gallery from this game.King Philip’s Morgan Cunningham scored her fourth and fifth goals of the contest in the third period to help the Warriors win, avenging a loss to Franklin from December and splitting the season series between league rivals. Freshman Catie Putt gave KP the lead in the first period but Franklin freshman Julia Flynn scored her first of her four goals just three minutes later on the power play to make it 1-1 after a period of play. Cunningham and Flynn then put on a show, each scoring a second period hat trick as the teams traded goals to make it 4-4 going into the third. Sophomore Kelly Holmes recorded three assists, Sydney O’Shea added a pair while Putt and Jen Daniels each had one. Lindsay Dennett and Haley Wernig each had an assist for the Panthers.

Wrestling
Canton, 6 @ Sharon, 66 – FinalSeniors Adam Landstein, Ben Shocket, Aaron Cashton, Phil Varvak, Conor Grew, and Khashayar Zafar all had pins throughout the match while a pinfall victory from Ben Grabie clinched the win and the Hockomock League Davenport division title for the Eagles.

Stoughton, 6 @ Foxboro, 42 – Final

Franklin, 12 @ Milford, 57 – FinalClick here for a Photo Gallery from this meet. – Milford finished with six pins as a team, including pins in the final three matches of the meet, and rolled to a big win that clinched the outright league title for the second straight season. Aidan Baum kicked things off for the hosts at 106 with a pin a minute into the first period. Mike Boulanger scored a 6-0 win at 113 and then Robby Lyons got a major win at 120, winning 18-1 to add five points for the Hawks. Alex Castro’s 8-2 victory at 126 made it 17-0 and then Joey Testa pinned his opponent in the first period at 132. Franklin’s first points came with a quick pin by Timothy O’Leary, who needed :33 to get six points at 138. Luke Donis got the six right back with a disqualification win at 145. Donis was leading 5-2 in the third period when the match ended. Franklin’s Alex Fracassa had a pin in :35 for this 100th career win to make it 29-9, but Danny Alves added four points for Milford with a 20-7 win at 160. Ryan Donovan added a second-period pin at 170 before Ryan Parlon won 5-0 at 182 for Franklin’s final points of the night. Cam Phillips (195), Hampton Kaye-Kuter (220), and Mike Mastroianni (285) added first-period pins to close out the meet for the Hawks.

North Attleboro, 33 @ Oliver Ames, 34 – Final

King Philip, 39 @ Taunton, 40 – FinalTaunton’s Logan Frank recorded a first round pin to secure the Tigers a key six points, clinching a win over visiting King Philip. Mike Leskoski, Ryan Jones, Xavier Sandoval, Christian Balmain, and Elijah Prophete also won by pin for Taunton while Brandon Mendes recorded a victory via major decision.

Canton, 32 @ Oliver Ames, 34 – FinalOliver Ames senior Trey Buggs pulled down an offensive rebound and converted a layup all in one motion just before time expired to give the Tigers a win at home over visiting Canton. Canton junior Lanse Dorcelus tied the game at 32-32 with a pair of free throws with 12 seconds to play. OA’s first attempt at the game-winner from three-point range was short of the rim but Buggs crashed hard, catching the shot and putting it up and in off the glass for the win. Drew Baxter scored nine of his team-high 13 points in the third quarter for the Tigers, who turned a 19-15 halftime deficit into a 28-25 lead going into the fourth. Ryan Connerney scored a team-high 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Sharon, 53 @ North Attleboro, 59 – FinalNorth Attleboro raced out to an early lead and held onto it the rest of the way in a win on the road over Sharon. A 9-0 start helped the Rocketeers create the separation it needed for the rest of the way. North’s Casey Poirier hit a pair of threes in the opening quarter as the Big Red claimed a 12-9 lead after one, and senior George Ladd scored 12 of his team-high 18 points by the end of the second quarter for a 22-19 advantage at halftime. Six Rocketeers scored in the third quarter, including threes from Poirier and Brody Rosenberg (10 points). Gavin Wells scored all nine of his points in the fourth to help North seal the win. Sophomore Matt Baur paced the Eagles with 16 points and eight rebounds, senior Matt Baskin added 14 points, and senior Kiran Chandrasekaran chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.

Boys Hockey
Canton, 2 @ Franklin, 1 – Final

Oliver Ames, 1 @ Foxboro, 7 – FinalFoxboro jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a win over Oliver Ames. OA freshman Matt Lawson scored for the Tigers while senior Ross Carroll played well. Freshman Nolan Gemmiti made 38 saves in net for OA.

Mansfield, 5 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalMansfield senior Cam Hussey and junior Ryan Doherty each scored their first career goals to help the Hornets notch a win over North Attleboro. Hussey finished with two goals for the Hornets.

Taunton, 2 @ Stoughton, 2 – FinalStoughton rallied for the tying goal with the goalie pulled and under a minute to play to earn a tie with Taunton. With 25 seconds to go, Colin Alessi buried the rebound off a shot from Charlie Caputo to make it 2-2. Ryan Flannery scored the first goal for Stoughton/Brockton. Jason Frates had a strong game in net for the Tigers.

Girls Hockey
King Philip, 1 @ St. Mary’s (Lynn), 7 – FinalFreshman Kelly Holmes scored the lone goal of the game for the Warriors with Ally Donovan and Jen Daniels recording assists.

Boys Basketball
Oliver Ames, 49 @ Foxboro, 45 – FinalOliver Ames opened the second half with a big run and then held on as Foxboro made a fourth-quarter push. Similar to Friday night’s game, OA turned a close game at halftime (25-25) into a double-digit lead entering the fourth quarter, this time using a 15-2 run to start the third quarter. But Foxboro didn’t back down, battling back in the fourth to make it a one-possession game late. Junior Dylan Gordon stole a pass and scored with just under a minute to go to make it 48-45 but the Tigers were able to hold on for the win. OA senior Amari Brown led all scorers with a game-high 28 points, scoring 14 points in each quarter. Sophomore Alex Penders scored a career-high 19 points while Gordon added 14 points.

Canton, 16 @ Mansfield, 55 – Final – Mansfield’s defense pitched a first quarter shutout and allowed just one first half field goal in a big win over Canton. Baskets from Brendan Foley, TJ Guy, Matt Boen, Brian See, and Chris Hill helped the Hornets establish an 11-0 lead after eight minutes, and junior Matt Hyland helped Mansfield extend the lead to 26-3 at half. Guy added eight of his game-high 15 points in the third quarter. Mansfield’s Matt Boen and Canton’s Eric Mischler each had eight points.

Girls Basketball
North Attleboro, 42 @ Mansfield, 69 – FinalMansfield came out firing on all cylinders, scoring 39 points in the first half to take control of the game and never looked back. Brooke Berube led all scorers with 14 points and Abby Wager added 12 points and a strong all-around game on both ends of the floor to help the Hornets pick up the non-league win. Kayla Vine also had 12 points for Mansfield. North tried to chip away at the lead in the second half and had it down to 13 with five minutes to play, but couldn’t get any closer. Taylor McMath had 12 points to pace North and Amanda Kaiser added six.

Boys Hockey
Oliver Ames, 0 @ King Philip, 8 – FinalKing Philip lit the lamp four times in the opening period and tacked on three more in the second period on its way to a big win over Oliver Ames in a non-league clash. Conor Cooke (Paul McDonald, Aidan Boulger) and Brad Guden scored just a minute apart to get the scoring started while David Lawler (power play from Boulger, Max Robison) and Rocco Bianculli (Kevin Birenbaum) added two more late in the period. Boulger added two goals in the second, Sean Crowther added another goal, and Shaun Fitzpatrick capped the scoring in the third.

Girls Hockey
Stoughton, 2 @ Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 5 – Final

King Philip, 5 @ Franklin, 1 – FinalJen Daniels scored twice and three Warriors each scored once as King Philip avenged its loss to Franklin to split the seasons series. Kara McWhinnie, Sydney O’Shea, and Kelly Holmes also scored for KP.
