Canton

Canton has won four of the five Hockomock titles since league play began, including three in a row, and last winter the Bulldogs went to their fourth state title game in the past six seasons. It was an incredible stretch of success under Dennis Aldrich, who stepped down in the off-season, and the Bulldogs don’t look ready to slow down anytime soon. First-year coach Nikki Petrich, a former Northeastern University standout, comes to Canton after being an associate head coach for Austin Prep, helping them win a pair of Div. 1 state titles, and she has an experienced roster aiming for another trip to the Garden in March.

The Bulldogs can count on plenty of senior leadership this winter, starting up front with forwards Audrey Koen and Ellie Bohane. Koen is the team’s top returning scorer with 12 goals and eight assists last year and will be a focal point in the attack. Juniors Maggie Dailey, Lilah Spinelli, and Anna Lehan also contributed important minutes and important goals during last year’s playoff run and could be ready to step into bigger roles this season. As always, Canton can reload with talented underclassmen and freshmen Christina Curran, Abby Stock, and Izzy Cusack could also feature in a deep forward group.

Defense has long been a strength for Canton and it starts in goal with senior Carolyn Durand. The four-year starter has been one of the best shot stoppers in the state since her freshman year and gives the team a strong foundation in its own zone. Senior Maya Battista is another four-year starter and has emerged as a force on the blue line, both with her work in the defensive zone as well as her goals on the other end of the ice. Juniors Tori Carr and Devan Spinale will be back on the blue line with freshmen Kayleigh Koen and Georgia Campbell part of a talented rookie class that could contribute right away.

“We are looking to build off of the success of last year and continue to make sure that every single girl in our program has an incredible experience representing their town, high school, and family,” Petrich said. With a senior captain in net, a senior captain on the blue line, and two senior captains leading the way for your forwards, our team is going to compete every single game. A strong freshman class rounds out what is truly a team with extensive experience playing in meaningful games come the end of February.”

Franklin

2021-2022 Record: 6-11-4

Franklin is the only team other than Canton to have won a Hockomock League title and the Panthers come into the season with a more experienced, and deeper, roster to try and get back on top. Former assistant Mike Lubin has taken over as head coach after the retirement of longtime coach Margie Burke and he has a balanced lineup to work with this winter.

The Panthers will be hoping to be more solid on the defensive end of the ice this season, building on the structure they have created in all three zones. Senior Shaw Downing is a four-year varsity player and a dynamic skater along the blue line, not only being sure on the puck in her own zone but also capable of carrying the play into the attack. Junior Lindsay Dennett continues to improve each season and sophomore goalie Izzy Brown is coming off an impressive rookie campaign between the pipes.

Sophomore Julia Flynn was the team’s leading scorer last year and she is back to power the Franklin offense. Senior Lindsay Atkinson is also back, after missing all of last winter with an injury. Atkinson had a big sophomore season and will be a huge addition to the top line. Senior forwards Dana Stott and Molly Hurley bring two-way strength to the forward line.

“We’re a close group with great leadership and a good mix of young talent,” Lubin said. “We’re all excited to get the season started and build on our strong team chemistry from last year.”

Hockomock Stars

The biggest co-op team in the Hockomock League is getting bigger. The Mansfield/Oliver Ames Warriors, which also featured skaters from Foxboro, now includes players from Attleboro, Milford, North Attleboro, and Taunton and will be going by the name of Hockomock Stars.

Jamie Mullen returns for her second year at the helm of the program and now has some more players to work into her lineup. The Stars lost some key players to graduation, including longtime goalie Jess Widdop and speedy forward Sam Ledin, and also have to replace the production of last year’s leading scorer Kylie O’Keefe (20 points). Leading the offense will be a pair of Mansfield juniors: Cammy Shenteler, fresh off a 7-goal, 9-assist season, and Maeve Anastasia, who totaled 11 points with six goals last year.

North Attleboro has four players in the mix with junior Ava O’Dwyer, sophomore Grace Cabeceiras, and freshmen Brittany Nordbeck and Alana Rice. Attleboro (Emily Davignon, Avery Drainville, McKenzie Sullivan) has three players, Taunton (Hannah Albert, Kendell Scheralis) has two, and Milford has one (Lindsay Casman).

Foxboro’s Mya Waras (five points) and Mansfield’s Ava Adams (five points) will also be key pieces in the attack. Foxboro junior Macy Quinn is back to anchor the blue line for the Stars while Davignon will be between the pipes.

King Philip

King Philip is coming off a really strong year. The Warriors won 18 games last winter but saw the season come to an end in the opening round of the state tournament. KP scored 93 goals in 23 games in 2021-22 but graduated the bulk of one of the state’s top scoring lines, so will need new players to step into bigger roles in search of the program’s first Hock title.

While the top scoring line may look a little different this winter, KP does return its top goal scorer. Junior Kelly Holmes is back to lead the offense and is one of the most dynamic players in the league. Senior Katarina Precobb and junior Nicole McDonald will add more punch to the top line this season. The Warriors will have decent depth in the attacking zone, with senior Sydney Cloutier, junior Rylie Ryan, and freshmen Cam O’Shea and Kate McGann each ready to provide an attacking punch. Eighth graders Tayla McDuff, Rylan McKillop, Ella Morgan, Erin Steck, and Molly Murphy should all get their chance to contribute.

In the defensive zone, KP will have plenty of experience to try and keep other teams out. Seniors Brielle Hearon, Mara Boldy, and Emma Sullivan will all be back on the blue line, providing leadership and physicality to slow down the opposition. Freshmen Lydia Maxwell and Grace Lehan-Allen both saw time as eighth graders and will build on that important year of varsity action. Eighth-grader Calleigh Brady should see time in defense this year. Goalie is another position of strength for the Warriors with senior Mallory Johnston in her third year as a starter and classmate Haley Bright backing her up.

“I never call it a rebuilding year,” said KP coach Ken Assad. “With the returning players and newcomers, I believe with hard work and not taking any nights off we can be in the hunt for the Hockomock title and get into the tournament.”

Stoughton/Sharon

Stoughton/Sharon continues to be a young program that is building up its numbers. With only one senior and two juniors in the program, the Black Knights will be focusing on youth and trying to build a foundation for future seasons. After a close loss in the season opener, Stoughton/Sharon continues to find ways to stay competitive even with a smaller roster of just 14 players.

Eighth-grader Sarah Scappaticci from Sharon will be the starting goalie this season. She made 34 stops in the opener against Cambridge and is already showing that she is a skilled player between the pipes. Brockton junior Molly Corvino will be one of the leaders in the defensive zone, along with classmate Samantha Calapai. Both players are solid in their own zone but can push the team into the attack. Stoughton freshman Addison Strunk will also be one of the defenders in the top two pairings.

Stoughton’s Ava Buckley is the lone senior on the team. The Assumption-commit will be the focal point for the Black Knights on the offensive end of the ice. Sharon eighth grader Ella Cummings has a lot of skill on the puck and already opened her varsity account with a goal against Cambridge. Sharon sophomores Peri Rodman and Heather Kelly and Stoughton sophomore Leila Uchani return to the forward lines. Stoughton freshmen Julia Monaghan, Meghan McGowan, Amanda Reid, and Stoughton eighth graders Nya’Lia Lindsey and Julia Henein will give the Black Knights depth up front.

“We are a young team with only one senior and two juniors in our program,” said head coach Chad Kelley. “Ava Buckley and Molly Corvino are our captains for this season. Both Ava and Molly have been tremendous with our young group. They are great examples for others to model.”

Franklin Edges Barnstable to Kick-Off Postseason Run

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Franklin has made no secret of its desire to make another deep playoff run, but, even for a team that reached the state semifinal a year ago, it’s natural to feel some extra nerves ahead of the opening tournament game, especially when facing an unfamiliar foe with a still relatively young roster.

The Panthers got a stiff challenge in Friday’s first round game at the Beaver St. Field. Barnstable, the No. 28 seed, was able to withstand Franklin’s pressure for long stretches of the game, keeping within a goal until the final five minutes of a 2-0 loss.

It was the type of battle that can be a reminder for a team that scored 129 goals in the regular season and has gone unbeaten in more than 60 straight league games that things are different once the tournament kicks off.

“You never know,” said Franklin coach Michelle Hess. “I’ve never played them before, I didn’t know anything about them, you can only watch so much film, and they show up and they’re better than I expected, especially being the 28 seed.”

She added, “I don’t think we took them lightly, I just think that, because we’re a young team, we get nervous and it’s tournament and there’s a lot at stake. Today, it took us a while to settle in.”

While Barnstable was able to hold Franklin off the board, the Panthers largely dominated play. The Panthers had an 11-2 edge in corners and the Redhawks didn’t manage a single shot on target, while forcing the Barnstable goalie into 12 saves and causing numerous scrambles in front of the Redhawks goal.

Franklin got off to a quick start with Kaitlyn Carney playing the ball across to Haley Wernig, who forced a save from the right wing. Shaw Downing latched onto the rebound but with a mass of bodies in the crease was unable to get the shot on target. On the resulting corner Payten Crandall had her shot saved and Downing again reacted first to the rebound but the shot was wide.

In the final minute of the quarter, Brooke Taylor intercepted a pass and played the ball up the sideline to Downing, who was able to keep the ball in play to Wernig. Crandall couldn’t touch home the cross at the far post, Downing had her effort saved, and Crandall again was inches from tapping home at the back stick.

“I think we had some frustration,” Hess said about her team’s efforts to find a goal. “We just need to keep reminding them that unfortunately there are games that are going to go this way and you just have to keep pounding. As a team, we’ve never shot the ball wide that many times. We couldn’t find the net today.”

The pattern of play continued in the second. Emily Carney was the main creator for the Panthers, weaving her way through defenders to open space in the middle of the field. Carney teed up Wernig for a shot that was kicked out, then sent a low ball in from the left that was tipped wide by Raena Crandall.

Franklin finally found the breakthrough with 14.4 left in the half. Taylor again started the move with a ball up the right side to Wernig. The sophomore forward beat her marker and then slipped a pass in behind the last defender for Kaitlyn Carney to run onto and the league’s top scorer made no mistake with a shot into the bottom corner.

In the third quarter, Emily Carney went down with an injury and while she was being tended to on the sideline Barnstable had its best spell of the game, forcing a pair of corners and finally giving Franklin freshman goalie Devon Barry something to worry about, although in the end the defense of Ella Griffin, Kaeley Dubriske, Sophia Cuneo, and Lindsay Dennett didn’t allow a shot to get through.

Carney’s return to the field helped Franklin regain control and finish the quarter with a flurry of chances. Her touch at the top of the crease opened space for a shot on goal and Wernig just missed tapping in the rebound. Downing also got a chance with a run through the heart of the Redhawks defense but again the shot was kicked aside.

“She’s a little bit more of a finesse player and I would say her field sense, the way she sees the field, is probably her biggest strength,” Hess said about Carney. “She’s just so talented, her stick skills, and she’s that calming force. Anytime we get her the ball, we move it down the other end. She’s the key to our transition.”

The Panthers were chasing the goal that could seal progress to the next round and early in the fourth Cuneo’s pass off a restart opened space for Downing in the middle, but it was saved. Wernig almost created the second with another run down the wing and her cross into the middle picked out Payten Crandall on the doorstep only for the goalie to make a great stop.

While the coaches were preaching patience and using up the clock, it was a quick restart that led to the second goal. Kaitlyn Carney grabbed the ball quickly and passed it 30 yards to Downing in the middle of the field. She turned and rolled a perfect pass out to Crandall on the left side.

Franklin had numbers in transition for one of the few times in the game and Crandall got the ball back to Downing, who was able to settle the pass and then settle the game with a shot into the corner.

“That was huge,” Hess said. “I had just given them a speech during the timeout, slow it down, take your time, get a good free hit. But, that’s just her field hockey IQ, seeing that and getting it rolling.”

Franklin (17-1-1) will be home on Wednesday afternoon for the Sweet Sixteen to face No. 12 Needham.

Stoughton, 5 @ Norwood, 0 – Final – Matheus Groberio scored a pair of goals to help Stoughton bounce back in a big way with a rout of Norwood. Sam Santos, Tyler Teixeira, and Joao Moratti each scored once on top of Groberio’s brace while Ben Shirey posted the shutout in net.

Girls Soccer
Stoughton, 4 vs. Norwood, 1 – Final – Stoughton scored four times in the second half, winning for the second time in as many days. Norwood got the lone goal of the first half and went into the break with the lead, but the Black Knights responded six minutes into the second half and never looked back. Morgan Cook equalized with a shot off the post, assisted by Shayla Ford. Five minutes later, Emma Tran scored what turned out to be the game-winner from the spot. Ford doubled the lead in the 57th minute, breaking past the Norwood defense and finishing. Tran added her second of the day just two minutes later with a 30-yard free kick. Molly Fox made seven saves to pick up the win in goal.

King Philip, 2 @ Franklin, 1 – Final – KP bounced back from a loss to OA by handing Franklin its first loss of the season. Heidi Lawrence scored a brace for the Warriors, who moved back into a first-place tie with the Panthers in the division. Lawrence scored 13 minutes before halftime after a nice run that was picked out by Ella Pisani’s diagonal ball. Norah Anderson got Franklin’s goal off a Katie Ewald corner, but then Lawrence popped up with the winner five minutes from full time. Pisani again provided the killer pass.




Field Hockey
Attleboro, 0 @ King Philip, 2 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. KP scored a pair of second half goals, both assisted by Kelly Holmes, to pull out a second straight win. The game was scoreless at halftime, but with seven minutes left in the third Holmes found a little bit of space on the left and fired a ball into the middle that was deftly tipped by Nicole MacDonald for the opening goal. The lead stayed at one until the final two minutes when Holmes hit a low cross from the right wing that was deflected in front by Ella McDonnell for a goal that sealed the points. Marley Young had Attleboro’s best chance when her second quarter shot was cleared off the line by Maggie Murphy. Siany Gomez had a huge game in goal for the Bombardiers to keep them in the game until the final minutes.

Stoughton, 0 @ Canton, 10 – Final

Franklin, 9 @ Taunton, 0 – Final – Franklin scored five goals in the opening quarter and never went back in a big win on the road over Taunton. Sophia Cuneo opened the scoring less than a minute in, Sydney Rogan and Payten Crandall each scored once, and Haley Wernig scored two goals inside the final minute to give the Panthers a big lead early. Kaitlyn Carney, who scored two goals in the second half, assisted on Franklin’s first four goals. Lindsay Dennett and Brooke Taylor (first career goal) added a goal each for Franklin.

Mansfield @ Oliver Ames, 3:45

North Attleboro, 8 @ Milford, 0 – Final – North Attleboro scored three goals in each the first and third quarters on its way to a big win over Milford. Caitlin Vacher (from Caroline Folan), Madison Folan (from Ava Spencer), and Julia Puccio (from Sadie Barend) scored one apiece in the first to give North a 3-0 lead. In the third, Rory McGinley, Caroline Folan, and Puccio each had an unassisted goal. Kelsey Thompson and Ava Mckeon both played solid in the midfield to help stop Milford offense and transition the ball up the field for the North Attleboro offense.

Foxboro, 6 @ Sharon, 0 – Final




Volleyball
Foxboro, 2 @ Sharon, 3 – After a great back-and-forth battle, Sharon prevailed in five sets to take down visiting Foxboro (25-20, 17-25, 25-27, 25-23, 15-11). For the Warriors, Sami Sloan recorded eight kills, seven digs, and six aces, Alyssa Cloherty added 30 assists, seven digs, three blocks, and a pair of kills and aces, and Shannon McElhinney chipped in with 16 digs and two aces.

Mansfield, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – Final – In a hard-fought, competitive match, Oliver Ames prevailed with a 3-0 25-15, 25-19, 25-20) sweep of visiting Mansfield. Senior Courtney Raymond had a strong game with 10 service points and four kills, senior Maddie Homer added 22 digs, sophomore Clare Kavoulis dished out 20 assists, junior Sarah Hilliard had 14 kills, and senior Mary Derba chipped in with five kills.

Attleboro, 0 0 @ King Philip, 3 – Final – After prevailing in a tightly contested first set, King Philip went on to complete the sweep to knock Attleboro from the ranks of the unbeatens (26-24, 25-17, 25-18). Emily Sawyer continued to dominate in the middle with 13 kills along with four blocks and three aces while the Warriors also got big offensive contributions from Ahunna James (six kills, 11 digs) and Sami Shore (eight kills, two ces). Shea Mellman anchored the KP defense with eight digs. For Attleboro, Julia Leonardo recorded 14 digs and six kills while Natalie Brojek added 12 assists, seven digs, and four aces in a strong all-around effort.

Franklin, 3 @ Taunton, 0 – Final – Franklin continued its undefeated start to the season with a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-17, 25-16) on the road at Taunton. Makayla Kuykendall had a big game for the Panthers with 11 kills, eight digs, and four aces while Taylor Lacerda continued her streak of strong performances with 17 kills and 11 digs.

Mansfield, 162 @ North Attleboro, 155 – Final – Jake Gaskin and Tyson Laviano shared match medalist honors to give North Attleboro a key non-league win over rival Mansfield. Gaskin and Laviano both fired a two-over par round of 37 on Heather Hill’s South Course to lead the Rocketeers. Zach Corsetti shot a 40 and Ishan Kohli rounded out North’s scoring with a 41. Brendan Vokey led the Hornets with a 38, Nate McClean and Hayden O’Connor each shot a 41, and Drew Urban carded a 42.

Foxboro, 162 @ Oliver Ames, 152 – Final – Oliver Ames picked up its fifth straight win to start the season, taking down Davenport division foe Foxboro at Pine Oaks. Junior David Rodgers was a co-medalist in the match, sinking a birdie on the fourth hole to finish with a 36 for OA. Michael McGinnis added a 37, Sean Kearns finished with a 39, and Lucas Riley came into the clubhouse with a 40. Foxboro freshman Zac Georgantas also shared match medalist honors with a 36.

Boys Basketball
Foxboro, 83 vs. Middleboro, 52 – Final – Foxboro’s offense was nearly unstoppable in the third quarter as the Warriors used a 26-point frame to blow the game wide open in a win over Middleboro, claiming the Warrior Classic Championship. Senior Dylan Gordon made half of his 12 field goals in the third quarter alone and had 14 of his team-high 28 points as Foxboro turned a 10-point halftime lead (35-25) into a 61-36 advantage going into the fourth. Junior Alex Penders added 16 points on eight makes from the floor and Sam Golub sank four threes, finishing with 13 points.

King Philip, 56 vs. Hanover, 65 – Final – King Philip cut the deficit down to three going into the final quarter but the Warriors couldn’t keep pace with Hanover over the final eight minutes. KP used a 24-point third quarter, getting a pair of threes from Charlie Grant (11 points), seven points from Braeden Sottile (13 points) and six from Will Laplante (15 points) to make it 45-42 going into the fourth but Hanover pulled away with the win over the final eight minutes.

North Attleboro, 27 vs. Randolph, 51 – Final – North Attleboro trailed by just six at halftime and played good defense throughout, but couldn’t keep pace with the Blue Devils in the second half. Casey Poirier scored half of his eight points in the first and Givany Carney had four as the Rocketeers established a 10-6 lead after eight minutes. Randolph took control with a 19-point second quarter, taking a 25-19 advantage into the break. Brody Rosenberg added six points for North.

Stoughton, 66 vs. Southeastern, 44 – Final – Stoughton held Southeastern scoreless for over seven minutes in the third quarter, turning a tie game at halftime in a blowout win. The Knights were deadlocked at 32-32 at the break but came out and dominated the Hawks in the third, opening on a 15-0 run before Southeastern got on the board with under a minute to go. Stoughton put the game away with a 9-2 burst to open the fourth quarter. Connor Andrews scored 11 points in the pivotal third quarter and finished with a game-high 25 points while junior Rayan Sablon connected on five threes and finished with 20 points. Konrad Rogers chipped in with a career-best 11 points.

Girls Basketball
Foxboro, 53 vs. Walpole, 62 – Final – Despite three players in double digits, Foxboro fell to visiting Walpole in the final of the Warrior Classic. Kailey Sullivan led the way with 17 points and was named to the all-tournament team. Hannah Blake and Camryn Collins each finished with 13 points.

Oliver Ames, 46 vs. Medfield, 64 – Final – Oliver Ames entered halftime trailing by just two (29-27) but a big third quarter from Medfield created the separation the Warriors needed to get the win. Caroline Peper had a team-high 15 points, Jasmyn Cooper added 14 points, and Sarah Hilliard chipped in with 10 points for The Tigers, who will host Medfield in a rematch on Thursday.

King Philip, 58 @ Shrewsbury, 29 – Final – KP won for the second time in as many days and clinched a spot in the state tournament. The Warriors held Shrewsbury to just two points in the first quarter and 10 points in the opening half to build a double-digit lead. Coming out of the break, KP scored 22 points in the third quarter to break the game open and then secured the win by holding Shrewsbury to only five points over the final eight minutes. Emily Sawyer had a big day in the middle for the Warriors, nearly matching Shrewsbury on her own by scoring 24 points. Julia Marsden and Elizabeth Molla each scored 10 points in the in win and Jackie Bonner returned from an injury to knock down a pair of threes and score eight points.

Stoughton, 52 @ Waltham, 61 – Final – Stoughton put up a great fight but fell on the road in its final game of the season. Senior Vanessa Phelimond led Stoughton with 11 points while senior Kate Bulger chipped in with nine points.

Boys Hockey
Attleboro, 0 @ Foxboro, 9 – Final – Foxboro had an offensive explosion on Tuesday afternoon, netting a pair of shorthanded goals in a win over Attleboro. The Warriors put 54 shots on net with Jack Watts pacing the offense with a hat trick and one assist. Ben Ricketts added two goals and Matt Grace finished with three assists.

Girls Hockey
Canton, 2 @ Franklin, 1 – Final – Canton got a pair of second period goals from its defense to come from behind and beat Franklin. With the win, the Bulldogs sweep the season series with the Panthers and complete an undefeated league campaign. Franklin took the lead in the first when Molly Hurley redirected a pass from Lindsay Dennett. Canton answered back in the second, as Tori Carr and Maya Battista both found the back of the net. The Bulldogs were able to fend off pressure from the Panthers in the third to pick up the win.

The Warriors cut the deficit in half before the first intermission but OA tacked on a fifth goal to make it 5-2 going into the second. After a scoreless second period, Foxboro senior Steve Bridges scored midway through the third to make it a two-goal game but OA junior Sean McCarthy completed his hat trick moments later to restore the three-goal cushion. Sophomore defenseman Sean Kearns added a pair of goals and an assist and senior Elliot Cohen chipped in with a goal and an assist for the Tigers. Jack Corey notched a pair of assists while Matt Lawson, Jack Perron, and Andrew Poulos each had one assist.

Franklin, 13 @ Mansfield, 5 – Final – Justin Magazu scored four goals and had one assist and Dylan Marchand scored one and had five assists, as the Panthers won a shootout against rival Mansfield that moved them closer to a league title. Magazu scored twice in the first period along with goals by Domenic Lampasona and Christian Shabbick, as Franklin led 4-1 after one. Dillon Benoit (two goals and two assists) had the goal for the Hornets. Franklin added nine goals in the third period. Shabbick scored two to complete his hat trick, Magazu added two more, Ben Paterson scored twice, and Lampasona, Marchand, and Thomas Balducci each scored once. Benoit added his second goal for Mansfield. Matt Tourigney got one in the third and Kyle Oakley added two for the Hornets in the third period. Franklin finished with a 42-20 edge in shots. Cole Pouliot-Porter made seven saves and Joe Toracco made eight stops for the Panthers.

Canton, 3 @ Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 2 – Final – Allie McCabe had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs to help them pick up an important league win and sweep the season series with the Warriors.

Franklin, 4 @ King Philip, 6 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. – King Philip’s Morgan Cunningham scored her fourth and fifth goals of the contest in the third period to help the Warriors win, avenging a loss to Franklin from December and splitting the season series between league rivals. Freshman Catie Putt gave KP the lead in the first period but Franklin freshman Julia Flynn scored her first of her four goals just three minutes later on the power play to make it 1-1 after a period of play. Cunningham and Flynn then put on a show, each scoring a second period hat trick as the teams traded goals to make it 4-4 going into the third. Sophomore Kelly Holmes recorded three assists, Sydney O’Shea added a pair while Putt and Jen Daniels each had one. Lindsay Dennett and Haley Wernig each had an assist for the Panthers.

Wrestling
Canton, 6 @ Sharon, 66 – Final – Seniors Adam Landstein, Ben Shocket, Aaron Cashton, Phil Varvak, Conor Grew, and Khashayar Zafar all had pins throughout the match while a pinfall victory from Ben Grabie clinched the win and the Hockomock League Davenport division title for the Eagles.

Stoughton, 6 @ Foxboro, 42 – Final

Franklin, 12 @ Milford, 57 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this meet. – Milford finished with six pins as a team, including pins in the final three matches of the meet, and rolled to a big win that clinched the outright league title for the second straight season. Aidan Baum kicked things off for the hosts at 106 with a pin a minute into the first period. Mike Boulanger scored a 6-0 win at 113 and then Robby Lyons got a major win at 120, winning 18-1 to add five points for the Hawks. Alex Castro’s 8-2 victory at 126 made it 17-0 and then Joey Testa pinned his opponent in the first period at 132. Franklin’s first points came with a quick pin by Timothy O’Leary, who needed :33 to get six points at 138. Luke Donis got the six right back with a disqualification win at 145. Donis was leading 5-2 in the third period when the match ended. Franklin’s Alex Fracassa had a pin in :35 for this 100th career win to make it 29-9, but Danny Alves added four points for Milford with a 20-7 win at 160. Ryan Donovan added a second-period pin at 170 before Ryan Parlon won 5-0 at 182 for Franklin’s final points of the night. Cam Phillips (195), Hampton Kaye-Kuter (220), and Mike Mastroianni (285) added first-period pins to close out the meet for the Hawks.

North Attleboro, 33 @ Oliver Ames, 34 – Final

King Philip, 39 @ Taunton, 40 – Final – Taunton’s Logan Frank recorded a first round pin to secure the Tigers a key six points, clinching a win over visiting King Philip. Mike Leskoski, Ryan Jones, Xavier Sandoval, Christian Balmain, and Elijah Prophete also won by pin for Taunton while Brandon Mendes recorded a victory via major decision.
