Super 8

#7 Mansfield, 9 vs. #5 BC High, 10 – Final Mansfield erased an 8-1 deficit, even briefly taking a lead, but the Eagles of BC High earned a walkoff win to knock the Hornets out of the Super 8. Mansfield went up 1-0 in the top of the third but BC High plated eight runs in the bottom of the third to create a big lead. The Hornets scored three times in the fourth (highlighted by an RBI triple from Matt Scibilia) and then four times in the sixth inning, including a two-run double from Sam Nugent, to make it 8-8. Garrett Burke scored in the top of the seventh to put Mansfield ahead 9-8 but the Eagles responded with a run in the bottom half to tie it before getting the winning run two innings later. Burke and John Carney (run) each had two hits for the Hornets while Nugent finished with three RBI.

D1 South
#9 Xaverian, 0 vs. #4 Taunton, 2 – FinalTaunton senior Jack Moynihan tossed his third straight complete game shutout, and second straight in the postseason, to pace the Tigers to a win over Xaverian. Moynihan allowed just two hits while walking three, striking out seven to earn the win. Moynihan was aided by a huge defensive play by Nic Notarangelo, who made a terrific diving catch in left field to end the first inning with runners on first and second. Taunton scored twice in the fifth inning, starting with a single from Jared Roderick. Andrew Gomes then smacked an RBI triple to put Taunton up 1-0 and Evan Melo dropped down a bunt single to bring Gomes in to make it 2-0. Taunton will play Hockomock rival #11 Attleboro in the D1 South Final on Saturday at 1:00 at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton.

#11 Attleboro, 2 vs. #2 Durfee, 0 – FinalAttleboro senior Eoin Kelleher was masterful on the mound, allowing just three hits with no walks to lead the Bombardiers to an upset win over Durfee. Kelleher retired the first 11 batters he faced, didn’t allow a base runner past first base, had 17 first pitch strikes and struck out four in a complete game shutout. The Hilltoppers got their first hit in the fourth with two outs but the runner was gunned down at second on a great throw from Alvaro Espinal. Attleboro did its damage offensively with a run in the second and another in the third. in the second, Nick McMahon drove in Lorenzo Wilson with a sacrifice fly after Wilson singled, advanced to second on a single from Troy Van Vliet, and to third on a wild pitch. In the third, Tim Callahan walked, took second on a passed ball and scored on a double from Camden Fitzpatrick. Attleboro will play Hockomock rival #4 Taunton in the D1 South Final on Saturday at 1:00 at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton.

D2 South
#5 Stoughton, 1 vs. #1 Hopkinton, 12 – FinalHopkinton pushed across six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to turn a close game into a big win. Evan Jackman had a strong outing on the mound for the Black Knights.

#11 Oliver Ames, 2 vs. #7 Westwood, 6 – FinalOliver Ames erased an early 2-0 deficit, tying the game in the top of the fifth but the Wolverines responded with two runs in each the fifth and sixth innings to pull away for the win. Jared Spillane had two singles and an RBI for OA while Matt McCormick also drove in a run. Reid Latham had two hits offensively and had a strong outing on the mound for OA.

Girls Tennis
D1 South Final

#2 Wellesley, 3 vs. #1 Sharon, 2 – FinalClick here for a photo gallery of this match. – Sharon sophomore Charlize Martinez rallied in the second set, winning three straight to force a deciding third set, but Wellesley senior Sophia Arts grabbed a win in a tightly contested set to give the Raiders the sectional crown. Arts won the first set 6-2 and was up 4-3 before Martinez won three straight games to take a 6-4 decision. Martinez cut the deficit to 2-3 in the final set but Arts won three tight games in a row to get the win. Sharon senior Nupur Shukla shined in her final match, winning 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Valeria Barajas earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at second singles for the Eagles. Wellesley won both doubles matches in straight sets.

Mansfield, 8 @ Bishop Feehan, 3 – FinalMansfield wasted little time in getting the offense going, plating six runs in the top of the first inning and never looking back in a win over the Shamrocks. Sam Nugent (run, RBI), Dan Saraceno (run), and Mike Hargadon (RBI) each had two hits for the Hornets, who belted out 12 hits as a team. Kyle Moran, John Carney, and Nick Dumouchel each added an RBI and a run scored in the win. John Carney allowed just two hits in three innings of work, striking out a pair. Matt Scibilia struck out three while allowing one run on three hits in 1.2 innings of work for the win.

Oliver Ames, 6 vs. New Bedford, 1 – FinalOliver Ames won its fourth straight game to punch its ticket to the state tournament. Holding a 6-10 record for tournament purposes (both Brockton games are excluded), the Tigers picked up wins over King Philip, Dighton-Rehoboth, Foxboro (in 13 innings), and now New Bedford. Reid Latham shined on the mound, allowing just one run on four hits and no walks, striking out three in a complete game effort for the win. Junior Jacob Levine had a pair of hits for the Tigers while senior CJ Deveau drove in three runs. Matt McCormack and Cam Perron each had three hits while Latham and Jake Erlich both had two hits.

Stoughton, 2 @ Austin Prep, 6 – Final

Taunton, 7 @ Durfee, 1 – FinalSophomore Danny MacDougall had a strong outing on the mound, allowing just one hit with no walks allowed in 4.2 innings of work, striking out four to earn the win. Offensively, both senior Gavin Leahy (RBI, two runs) and junior Colby Lariviere (two RBI, two runs) each had two hits for the Tigers while junior Joseph Crawford drove in a pair of runs.

Softball
North Attleboro, 2 @ Attleboro, 4 – FinalAshley Cangiano and Alex Moulson each doubled and Mandi Hanewich tripled in the loss for the Rocketeers. Cangiano and Hanewich each scored for North.

Franklin, 2 vs. Bishop Feehan, 3 – Final

Oliver Ames, 1 @ King Philip, 15 – FinalKing Philip’s offense exploded for 11 runs in the first inning and never looked back in a win over Oliver Ames. Grace Kelley, Heather Nix, and Meghan Gorman all had two-run hits in the opening frame to help the Warriors jump ahead. Liliana Rolfe, Nix, and Abby Carey had multiple hits for King Philip. Senior Katie Mills had an RBI for OA, driving in sophomore Taylor Lake (single, walk) while junior Katie Abreu had two hits for the Tigers.

Mansfield, 13 vs. Holliston, 0 – FinalThe Hornets closed the regular season by shutting out Holliston for the second straight day. Sarah Cahill tossed her second straight two-hitter, striking out eight on Thursday. It took a few innings for the Hornets to get the offense going on Wednesday, but at home Mansfield jumped out to a lead in the opening inning. Kara Bendanillo and Megan Letendre each singled and Mady Bendanillo walked to load the bases. Caty DeMassi knocked in a run with a fielder’s choice and Mary Muldoon plated two with a triple, before she scored on a Casey Mousette single. The Hornets added three in the second with Emma Roche, Mousette, and Sydney Woods all had RBI singles. DeMassi drove in two runs in the third with a double to put the hosts ahead 10-0. In the sixth, Woods closed out the game with a triple to end the scoring. Mansfield pounded out 15 hits as a team.

Stoughton, 5 @ Brockton, 0 – FinalStoughton sophomore Nicole Baker tossed a four-hit shutout to help the Black Knights finish the regular season with a win. Baker also got a strong performance from the defense behind her as Stoughton head coach Deb Parker said “The team showed up to play today and everyone did their job.” Karly Estremera led the offense with three hits, including a double while Sydney Menz added two hits (one triple) and two runs scored. Nikki Coppola chipped in with a pair of doubles and RBI and Lexi Baptista smacked a solo home run for Stoughton.




Girls Lacrosse
Milford, 8 vs. Norton, 6 – FinalMilford senior Sophia Bucal scored three goals and fellow captains Katie Drysdale and Emily Haley each had a goal and an assist as the Scarlet Hawks finished on a high note with a win over Norton. Senior Riley Campbell added a goal while senior goalie Savanna Rosado earned the win in net. Junior Elena Bon Tempo added two goals and classmate Kat Swineford chipped in with an assist.

Boys Tennis
King Philip, 5 @ Taunton, 0 – FinalKing Philip went on the road and swept Taunton to grab a share of the Kelley-Rex division title, the third straight for the program. Marco DiStefano won 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) at first singles, Nick Putney didn’t drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 decision at second singles, and Jack Cannon picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles. The team of Nate Ihley and Tyler Dowd won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles while Jake Mager and Max Goreham prevailed 6-3, 6-0 at second doubles.

Stoughton, 2 @ Milford, 3 – FinalMilford defended home court, sweeping doubles play and adding one more win in singles action to beat Stoughton. Cam Doherty won 6-3, 6-4 at third singles, the team of Zach Austin and Tiago Viera won 7-6, 7-5 at first singles, and Ben Johnson and Dylan Wang earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at second doubles for Milford. Stoughton’s Waseem Sablon won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles while Erik Anderson picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win at second singles.

Sharon, 2 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalNorth Attleboro sophomore Sam Gallagher battled for a 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 win at second singles to give the Rocketeers a win over visiting Sharon. The Rocketeers also got wins in double action as Tomas Bentley and Vikram Senthilakumaran picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at first doubles and the team of juniors Will Redding and Isa Siddiq won 6-0, 6-2 at second doubles. Sharon’s Alberto Olivei won 6-3, 6-1 at first singles while Max Chen earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at third singles.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – FinalSharon swept all three singles matches and added another point from doubles play to fend off visiting North Attleboro. Nupur Shukla won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, Charlize Martinez picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles, and Sophia Fein secured a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles. Makaila Cheung and Anjali Jha prevailed 7-6, 6-1 at second doubles for the Eagles. North Attleboro’s Sam Martino and Haley Strom won 7-5, 6-1 at first doubles.

Boys Volleyball
South
#9 Taunton, 3 @ #8 Durfee, 2 – FinalTaunton rallied from a 2-0 deficit to earn an upset win on the road at Durfee. The Tigers fell behind after dropping the first two sets 22-25 and 15-25. But Taunton stayed alive with a 25-17 win in the third game and forced a winner take all fifth set with a 25-22 in Game 4. Taunton got the win in the final set, 15-10. Sophomore Tyler Stewart had 24 kills to lead the way.

Attleboro, 8 @ Bishop Feehan, 9 – FinalAttleboro junior Camden Fitzpatrick had a day to remember at the plate but the Bombardiers fell just short on the road at Bishop Feehan. Fitzpatrick went 3-for-4, hitting a grand slam, a solo home run, and an RBI single for Attleboro.

Canton, 3 @ Milford, 7 – FinalMilford scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead and tacked on two runs in each the fifth and sixth innings to beat visiting Canton. Colby Pires was strong on the mound, tossing a complete game with three runs allowed and two strikeouts. Matt Shaver went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Justin Applebee had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored for the Hawks.

Sharon, 6 @ Holliston, 12 – Final

Taunton, 3 @ Mansfield, 8 – FinalMansfield broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the third, exploding for six runs and then tacked on two more in the bottom of the fourth to earn a win over visiting Taunton. The Tigers plated two runs in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 6-2 before Mansfield answered with two runs of its own to make it 8-2. Kyle Moran (two RBI, run), Eric Longley (RBI, two runs), and Jake Gerraughty (run, RBI) each had two hits to pace the Hornets’ offense. John Carney earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks, striking out seven in five innings of work. Matt Scibilia allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk in two innings of relief. Taunton junior Nic Notarangelo went 2-for-3 with two runs scored while sophomore Danny MacDougall went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Softball
Attleboro, 2 vs. Bishop Feehan, 6 – Final

Milford, 13 @ Canton, 12 – FinalMilford senior Lucy Creedon came through in the clutch with the bases, delivering a two-run single in the top of the seventh to give the Hawks a win on the road in a close, back-and-forth contest with Canton. The Bulldogs built an early 6-0 lead, and led 8-3 after three innings before Milford’s offense roared to life with an eight-run fifth inning to take an 11-8 lead. Canton responded with a four-run sixth inning to go ahead 12-11 before Creedon put the visitors in front for good in the seventh. Milford freshman Gianna Cacciola went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored, hitting a home run that sparked the Hawks’ big fifth inning. Freshman Olivia Morelli went 4-for-4 with three runs and a two-run double for Milford. “Our girls never gave up, they never quit, ” said Milford head coach Steve DiVitto.

Oliver Ames, 7 @ Whitman-Hanson, 2 – FinalOliver Ames senior Colleen Larson had a game to remember, earning the win in the circle and hitting a home run to pace the Tigers to a win on the road. Larson struck out five in a complete game effort and smacked a three-run home run in the seventh inning to give OA the cushion it needed for the win. OA scored in the seven, third, and fifth innings to build a 4-2 lead. Grace Simone (two runs, RBI), Kayla Georgeu (run, RBI), Katie Abreu (two runs) and Abbi Holmes each had two hits for OA.

Taunton, 9 @ Dighton-Rehoboth, 3 – FinalTaunton scored three runs in the first, tacked on four more in the fifth, and plated two more insurance runs in the sixth to sweep the season series with Dighton-Rehoboth. Kelsey White improved to 12-1 on the season, allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits, no walks, and nine strikeouts. White helped her own cause with outstanding defense and drove in three runs offensively. Abbie McDonough went 3-for-3 with an RBI and stolen base while McKenzie McAloon (RBI, SB), Alexa White (two runs), Payton Ceglarski, Jaime Brown, Ava Venturelli (RBI), and Tayah DaCosta (RBI) each had a hit for the Tigers.

Sharon, 2 @ Stoughton, 4 – FinalIn a game continued from Monday, Stoughton scored two runs in the final innings to grab a win over visiting Sharon. The Eagles held a 2-1 lead on Monday before freshman Sydney Menz (3-for-3) singled, took third on a bunt single from Karly Estremera, and scored on an RBI from Jordan Lyons. On Tuesday, Menz was the catalyst for the Black Knights again, smacking a one-out triple to right and scoring on a bunt single from Estremera. Lyons grabbed her second RBI by knocking in Estremera with a single. Nicole Baker grabbed her 12th win of the season, stirking out seven with four hits allowed.

Boys Lacrosse
Attleboro vs. Bishop Feehan, 5:15

Franklin, 15 @ Canton, 7 – FinalFranklin raced out to a 5-0 lead after a quarter but Canton chipped away to get within two (9-7) early in the fourth quarter, but the Panthers scored the final six goals to pull away and secure a perfect record in Hockomock League action. Jake Davis had three goals and three assists for Franklin while Owen Palmieri scored five goals, Ben Greco had a goal and four assists, and Jacob Alexander (who had a strong day at the faceoff X) added two goals. Griffin Roach (assist) and Andrew Canto each had three goals for Canton while Tommy Vaughan had one goal and two assists. LSM Nick Mackay had his best all-around game of the season and won some key faceoffs for the Bulldogs.

Milford, 1 @ Canton, 4 – FinalCanton swept all three singles matches and grabbed another win in doubles to beat Milford. Freshman Suraj Ramanathan picked up a 6-0, 7-5 win at first singles, sophomore Minh Duong earned a 7-6 (7-0), 6-0 win at second singles, and sophomore Ethan Nguyen secured a 6-2, 7-5 win at third singles for the Bulldogs. The team of senior Tyler Duffy and junior Justin Luk emerged with a 7-5, 6-4 win at first doubles. Milford’s Ben Johnson and Dylan Wang earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at second doubled.

North Attleboro, 4 @ Foxboro, 1 – Final North Attleboro went on the road and swept all three singles matches and added a fourth win at second doubles to beat the Warriors. Jonah Manso (first singles) and Sam Gallagher (third singles), both sophomores, won 6-0, 6-0 while junior Alex Pfeffer secured a 6-1, 6-1 win at second singles. The team of Saketh Uppuluri and Justin Strom picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at second doubles. Foxboro’s Brian Gardner and Justin Neale won 6-2, 6-3 at first doubles.

King Philip, 4 @ Xaverian, 1 – FinalKing Philip went on the road and knocked off Xaverian in a non-league showdown. Marco DiStefano won 6-1, 6-2 at first singles, Nick Putney won by the same score at second singles, and Jack Cannon completed the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 result at third singles. KP’s first doubles team of Nate Ihley and Zak Ryan earned a 6-0, 6-1 win.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ Brockton, 2 – FinalOliver Ames completed a season sweep of the Boxers with a 3-2 win on the road. The Tigers won all three singles matches to beat Brockton. Senior captain Henry Simone battled to a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win at first singles, freshman Kylash Ganesh won 6-4, 6-4 at second singles, and junior Yusaf Hameed prevailed 6-4, 6-3 at third singles.

Sharon, 3 @ Bishop Feehan, 2 – Final – Sharon junior Alberto Olivei prevailed in a tiebreak to win the second set, his match, and the entire match on the road at Bishop Feehan. Olivei won 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at second singles while freshman Rueman Bhattacharyya picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at third singles. The team of senior Max Brody and freshman Max Chen won 6-2, 6-0 at first doubles.

Taunton, 4 @ New Bedford, 1 – FinalFor the third straight season, the Taunton boys tennis team is headed to the state tournament. The Tigers qualified by beating New Bedford, sweeping all three singles matches and getting one more win in doubles action. Brett Beaulieu (first singles), Dylan Kullas (third singles), and the team of Barrett Hodgson and Tyler Goddard (second doubles) each won 6-0, 6-0 while Charlie Fiske picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at second singles.

Girls Tennis
Franklin, 3 @ Attleboro, 2 – FinalFranklin swept doubles action and earned one more point with a victory in singles action to beat Attleboro. Krissy Stoyonova earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at third singles, the team of Brynn Jacobs and Ashvika Boopathy won 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 at first doubles, and Vagmi Kantheti and Tessa Cacioppo teamed up for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at second doubles. Attleboro’s Ella Lynch-Bartek won 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 at first singles and Bri Aronne picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win at second singles.

Canton, 5 @ Milford, 0 – FinalThe Bulldogs won all five matches in straight sets to knock off Milford on the road. Rachel Kupferman (first singles) and Natalie Keppler (second singles) each won 6-0, 6-0 while Sarah Hernandez pulled out a 6-2, 6-1 decision at third singles. The team of Nyah Claiborne and Rose Hazam earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at first doubles while Lily Hazam and Kiara Cerruti won 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles.

Oliver Ames, 2 vs. Brockton, 3 – FinalOliver Ames won both doubles matches but suffered two three-set heartbreakers in singles action and another very tight two-set match at third singles. The team of Eva Belanger and Morgan Vasiliou won 6-1, 6-3 at first doubles while Erika Mekler and Kathryn McCarthy secured a 6-3, 6-3 at second doubles.

Sharon, 5 vs. Bishop Feehan, 0 – FinalSharon defended home court with a dominant win over Bishop Feehan, winning four of the five matches in straight sets. Nupur Shukla (first singles) and Valeria Barajas (second singles) each won 6-0, 6-0 and Charlie Martinez picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at third singles. The team of Sophia Fein and Sachi Bhasin won 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 at first doubles while Jessie Tarnoff and Lauren Glass earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at second doubles.

Taunton, 5 vs. New Bedford, 0 – FinalTaunton fended off visiting New Bedford, winning all five matches in straight sets. Jillian Pagliuca (first singles) and Jocelyn Pagliuca (third singles) each won 6-0, 6-0 while McKenzie Lucie earned a 6-1, 6-4 decision at second singles. The team of Sam Martin and Brianna Fevrier picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win at first doubles with Ogechi Ariguzo and Kayla Parrett teaming up for a 6-0, 6-1 win at second doubles.

Boys Volleyball
King Philip, 3 vs. Norwood, 0 – FinalAfter nearly two weeks since their last game, King Philip returned to action with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-13) sweep over Norwood. Cam Corey dished out 30 assists and had six digs, Kyle Desrochers added 13 service points (one ace), and six digs, and Max Armour chipped in with eight service points and four aces. Eric Altobello paced the offense with 11 kills and two digs, Jimmy Peterson added seven kills and a block, and Mike O’Brien finished with five kills.

Milford, 3 vs. Bellingham, 0 – FinalMilford’s Matt Dague had a team-high five kills while Gabe Brandao added four and the Hawks earned a 3-0 sweep (25-13, 25-4, 25-10) over Bellingham. Nuno Mestre dished out 13 assists in the win.

Milford, 4 @ Attleboro, 5 – FinalAttleboro used a walk, a pair of stolen bases, and a base hit to bring in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a win over Milford in a back-and-forth battle. The Hawks took a 1-0 lead, Attleboro responded with two runs to go ahead, Milford answered with three runs for a 4-2 lead and the Bombardiers plated two with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth to tie it. In the bottom of the seventh, junior Alvaro Espinal walked, stole both second and third, and scored on the game-winning hit from junior Lorenzo Wilson. Attleboro took a 2-1 lead in the fifth when Tim Callahan knocked in Rob Furtado (walk) and Espinal singled in Camden Fitzpatrick (single). Trailing 4-2 in the sixth, Furtado was hit by a pitch and Fitzpatrick had a sac fly to knot the score. Ryan Morry was strong on the mound for Attleboro, tossing six innings with no earned runs allowed and three strikeouts. Eoin Kelleher pitched a scoreless seventh inning to earn the win.

Canton, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 6 – FinalOliver Ames scored three runs in the bottom of the second to take a lead, tacked on two more in the third and added an insurance run in the sixth to get the win over visiting Canton. Senior Reid Latham pitched 6.1 innings, allowing no earned runs while striking out four. He chipped in offensively as well, going 2-for-2 with a sac bunt. Chris Pearsons added two hits, including a double, scored a run, and earned the save on the mound with two strikeouts. Freshman Jack Richardson had a double and three RBI while Jacob Levine and Jared Spillane (two RBI) each had two hits for OA. Owen Lehane had two hits and two RBI for Canton.

Foxboro, 18 @ King Philip, 2 – Final (6 Inn.)Foxboro pounded out 16 hits, breaking the game open with a nine-run third inning and never looking back to earn a win on the road. Michael Devlin had team-high three hits while adding three runs and two RBI, and Brian Duncan (two RBI, two runs), Kyle McGinnis (two RBI, two runs), James Kaeser (four RBI, run), Sean Yoest (RBI), and Adam Lanctot (three runs) each recorded two hits for the Warriors. Jack Nally added two hits, including a double, and scored three runs, Cooper Ross knocked in two runs and scored once, Jake Fitzgibbons had two RBI, and Joe Lizotte went 2-for-3 and scored twice. Junior Brennan Rivera allowed just two hits in four innings of work, striking out three with one walk. Cody Trotin tossed a scoreless inning in relief.

North Attleboro, 0 @ Mansfield, 3 – Final Mansfield seniors Jake Gerraughty and Matt Scibilia combined to throw a one-hitter and the Hornets used early runs to get by North Attleboro. The Hornets scored twice in the bottom in the first and added one more in the third but only had a total of three hits in the game. The Hornets took advantage of four walks and two Rocketeer errors. John Carney (run, RBI), Kyle Moran (RBI), and Scibilia each had a hit for the Hornets while Eric Longley (two walks) and Sam Nugent scored runs. Gerraughty allowed one hit, walked three and struck out three in five innings while Scibilia issued two walks and struck out four in two innings of work.

Stoughton, 2 @ Taunton, 6 – Final Taunton recorded 11 hits as a team on its way to a 6-2 win over visiting Stoughton. Evan Melo had three hits and knocked in two runs and Jared Roderick added a hit, a walk, an RBI, and a run scored for the Tigers. Jack Moynihan was strong once again on the mound, allowing four hits and one walk with no earned runs allowed, striking out 11 in a complete game effort.

Softball
Oliver Ames, 3 @ Canton, 8 – FinalCanton freshman Sophia Santos tossed a complete game, striking out four with two earned runs allowed to lead the Bulldogs to a win over Oliver Ames. Nikki Desjardins and Liz Bickett each hit a home run in the win. Oliver Ames sophomore went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Katie Abreu had an RBI, Kalei Clark had a hit and a run scored, and freshman Anna Balestino scored a run for the Tigers.

King Philip, 12 @ Foxboro, 0 – FinalKing Philip senior Faith Turinese pitched a complete game shutout, allowing four hits, no walks and striking out four as the visiting Warriors pulled away from Foxboro for the win. KP broke open a one-run game with four runs in the sixth, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple off the bat of Liliana Rolfe. Paige Berdos had three hits for KP while Turinese (three RBI), Rolfe, Grace Kelley (three RBI), and Destiny Goyco each had two hits for KP.

Franklin, 17 @ Sharon, 1 – Final (6 inn.)Franklin sophomore Gabby Colace (2-for-4) knocked in four runs, including a two-run triple in a six-run first inning as the Panthers earned a big win on the road. Junior Tina Pisano had a triple for Franklin and Kristen Smith had a hit and a run scored. Emily Valentino got the win, scattering five hits while striking out eight. Sharon senior Rebecca Clayman went 2-for-2 with a double and scored a run while Julia Earley had the RBI for the Eagles.

Mansfield, 4 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalMansfield scored three runs in the fifth inning and tacked on one more in the seventh inning that turned out to be the winning run for the Hornets, who had 10 hits. The Rocketeers took a 1-0 lead in the third but the Hornets went ahead in the fifth. Mary Muldoon led off with a double, a single from Kara Bendanillo put runners on the corners and both runners scored on a two-out double from Mady Bendanillo. Caty DeMassi added an RBI double to make it 3-1. In the seventh, Kara Bendanillo singled, moved to second on a fielder’s choice from Megan Letendre, and scored on a tag up play from second on a deep fly ball by Mady Bendanillo. Sarah Cahill scattered five hits and had 15 strikeouts for the win, striking out the side in each the first, second, and fifth innings. Bella Erti struck out nine for the Rocketeers while Emily Nardelli and Katie Daby each had an RBI triple in the game.

Taunton, 9 @ Stoughton, 0 – FinalTaunton plated five runs in the third inning, one in the fifth and added three more in the seventh to earn a win on the road at Stoughton, qualifying for the state tournament for the 36th straight season. Sophomore Kelsey White allowed just two hits (both in the fourth inning), struck out seven and didn’t issue a single walk for her eighth win of the year. Sophomore Hanna Aldrich paced the offense with three hits, three stolen bases, and two runs scored. Kenzie McAloon added two doubles and three RBI, Tayah DaCosta had two hits, including a double, and an RBI, Haylee Hartung knocked in two runs with a single, and Olyvia Mendonca added an RBI double. Payton Ceglarski had an RBI on a suicide squeeze.

Boys Lacrosse
Canton, 9 @ Mansfield, 8 – Final Mansfield raced out to a 6-2 lead at halftime but Canton rallied to earn a win on the road. David Allen exploded for four goals to give the Bulldogs a big lift while Griffin Roach had three goals and two assists. Junior Tommy Vaughan scored the winning goal with 4:47 left in the game. Nico Holmes had three goals for Mansfield, Michael Reed added two goals, Aidan Sacco scored once and had two helpers, and Brady Kessler and Connor Quirk each found the back of the net once.

Sharon, 9 @ Attleboro, 4 – FinalSharon freshman Ben Shocket won 15-of-17 faceoffs and sophomore Adam Rabb turned away 11 of the 15 shots he faced to help the Eagles earn a win on the road. Drew Litner paced the Sharon offense with three goals and three assists, Brandon Buckman scored a hat trick, Mitchell Director chipped in with two assists, and Daniel Lillenfeld, Zack Waxman, and Brady Daylor each scored once.

Foxboro, 8 @ King Philip, 12 – FinalKing Philip senior Chris Longobardi won 12 faceoffs and classmate Colin DeVellis accounted for six points to help the host Warriors earn a win in a battle of top Hockomock teams. DeVellis scored five goals and had one helper, Sam Mattson scored twice and had one assist, and Tyler Bartlett, David Lawler, Wes Bishop, Andrew Sajdak, and Robbie Tartaglia each scored once for KP. Andrew McKinney made nine saves in the win. Foxboro’s Shayne Kerrigan scored three goals and had one assist while Brendan Tully scored twice.

Franklin, 17 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – FinalFranklin senior Jacob Alexander went a perfect 23-for-23 at the face-off X, leading the Panthers to a big win on the road. King Philip, 3 @ Norwood, 0 – FinalKing Philip continued to get stronger as the season goes on, this time earning a 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-9) sweep on the road at Norwood. Cam Corey paced the offense with 29 assists and added 15 service points and Max Armour had 11 service points, five digs, and two kills. Eric Altobello had a team-high 12 kills, Jimmy Peterson added seven kills, and Shea Duffy and Mike O’Brien each put down six kills.

Taunton, 3 vs. Brockton, 1 – FinalAfter dropping the first game, Taunton rallied to win three straight to record a 3-1 win (22-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-23). Gage Kingman had a strong game all around with seven kills, 12 digs, two aces, and going a perfect 14-for-14 on serve receive. Jason Khang was also strong on serve receive (23-of 24), setting the table for a strong attack. Chris LaCourse dished out 36 assists with Tyler Stewart (12 kills, five blocks), Fabio Goncalves (11 kills, three blocks), and Alex Tavares (10 kills, five blocks) pacing the Tiger offense.

Moynihan scattered six hits in a complete game shutout, striking out seven. Taunton scored the lone run of the game in the top of the sixth inning as Lucas Martins singled and came around to score on a base hit from Josh Lajoie. Attleboro’s Ryan Morry was also strong, allowing five hits and striking out three in a complete game effort for the Bombardiers.

Foxboro, 8 @ Sharon, 1 – FinalFoxboro junior Michael Devlin shined in his first start of the season on the mound and reached base four times offensively to pace the Warriors to a win over Sharon. Devlin scattered five hits and two walks in a complete game, allowing one earned run with four strikeouts. Offensively, he had one hit, three walks and scored two runs. Joe Cavaleri and James Kaeser (two hits) each added two RBI for Foxboro.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalFranklin junior Brennan Rivera allowed just one hit and faced the minimum, tossing his second straight shutout to pace the Panthers to a win over visiting Oliver Ames. Rivera fanned 12 batters and had the one hit erased on a double play against the next batter. Scott Elliott (run), Alex Haba (double, run, RBI), and Jake Macchi (RBI) each had a hit for the Panthers. Reid Latham was strong for the Tigers, allowing four hits over six innings while striking out nine. Latham also had the lone hit offensively for OA.

Mansfield, 2 @ King Philip, 3 – FinalKing Philip scored once in the second and tacked on two more in the third, holding on the rest of the way to beat Mansfield. The Hornets scored once in the fifth and made it a one-run game with a run in the seventh inning. KP sophomore Jake Silveria earned his first career win, tossing a complete game with just three hits allowed, two walks, and three strikeouts. Silveria also paced the offense with two hits and two RBI. Chris Daniels also had a hit and an RBI for the Warriors. Matt Scibilia and Nick Dumouchel each drove in a run for Mansfield.

Stoughton, 2 @ Milford, 3 – FinalStoughton tied the game at 2-2 with a run in the top of the sixth but the Hawks answered with a run in the bottom half to take the lead back and earn a win over the visiting Black Knights. Danny Corsini (2-for-3, run), Tyler Almeida (2-for-3), and Carter Scudo (2-for-3, run, RBI) had consecutive singles, the latter scoring the first. Corsini went five innings on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits and four strikeouts. Sophomore Mario Lee earned the win in relief, striking out one with one hit allowed in two scoreless innings. Jacob Kaplan had two hits for Stoughton while Kyle Gagnon and George Currier each scored a run.

Canton, 2 @ North Attleboro, 12 – FinalBella Erti struck out 11 and allowed only one earned run for the Rocketeers. She also had a pair of hits at the plate and drove in a pair of runs. Ashley Cangiano led the way offensively with four hits, while Annabelle Hebard (two RBI), Olivia Capobianco, and Emily Nardelli each had three hits. Abby Gallagher and Alex Moulson each had two hits in the win.

King Philip, 3 @ Mansfield, 10 – FinalThe Hornets took the lead in the fourth inning, added two more runs in the fifth, and then broke the game wide open with six runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure a win over defending league champ KP. Kara Bendanillo drove in four runs and the Hornets pounded out nine hits as a team. KP jumped in front with a run in the first and the lead lasted until the fourth inning when Mady Bendanillo homered. Caty DeMassi singled, advanced to second on a sac bunt by Ashlyn Conley, took third on a passed ball, and then scored the go-ahead run on a grounder to second. Mansfield added to its lead with two runs in the fifth. Mary Muldoon led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a sac bunt by Sydney Woods. Kara Bendanillo drove her in with a single and, after making her way to third, aggressively came home to score when a pitch got away. In the sixth, the Hornets’ offense put the game away. Conley, Ella Verheggen, and Casey Mousette hit three straight singles. Muldoon drove in a run with a walk, Woods reached on an error, and Kara Bendanillo cleared the bases with a double. DeMassi made it 10 runs with a two-run single. Sarah Cahill earned the win in the circle, striking out five. Mansfield coach Lori Letendre said, “Mansfield played with a lot of energy today and I’m so proud of the total team effort.”

Milford, 3 @ Stoughton, 6 – FinalStoughton senior Karly Estremera had a double, a triple, and scored three runs to help the Black Knights beat Milford. Estremera and Jordan Lyons (two RBI, two runs) each had three hits total, Lexi Baptista added a pair of singles and an RBI, and Brianna Ferrandiz, Nicole Baker, and Sydney Menz each had a hit for Stoughton. Baker struck out 13 to earn the win. For Milford, April Swain (run) and Lucy Creedon (run, triple, RBI) each had two hits.

Senior Pete Conley paced the Foxboro offense with five goals and one assist while junior Aidan Stapleton scored once and had two helpers. Senior Colin Bourne scored twice for Oliver Ames while junior Frankie Ireland netted one goal and had one assist. Junior Nick Gillis made 14 saves in net for OA.

Junior Alberto Olivei and Max Brody paired together for a 6-3, 6-1 win at first doubles for Sharon while Foxboro’s Noah Hicks and Justin Neale took a 6-1, 6-3 decision at second doubles.

Franklin, 5 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – FinalFranklin lost a total of four games in four matches in a road win at Oliver Ames. Liam Marr and Rohan Herur each won 6-0, 6-0 at first and second singles, respectively. Vayshnav Malhotra picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at third singles and the team of Saket Gandham and Shoumik Sompally won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles.

Milford, 0 @ Stoughton, 5 – FinalFour of the five matches went to either a third set or a super tiebreaker and the Black Knights won them all, plus a straight set win at first singles, to beat Milford. Sophomore Waseem Sablon picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at first singles, senior Erik Anderson rallied for a 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 win at second singles and freshman Anish Sinha secured a 7-5, 0-6, 6-3 win at third singles. Juniors Brendon Buckley and Jacob Khang battled to win 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 at first doubles while seniors Hassan Khan and LJ Ferrandiz prevailed 7-6 (7-0), 0-6, 10-6 at second doubles.

King Philip, 2 @ Mansfield, 3 – FinalMansfield junior Nilay Pangrekar overcame a one-set deficit at third singles, recording a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win to help the Hornets edge King Philip in a battle of two of the top teams in the league. Senior Luke Nickerson picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at first singles while Sam Donellan and Dheeraj Valluru recorded a 6-0, 6-4 win at second doubles for the Hornets. King Philip’s Marco DiStefano won 6-0, 6-2 at second singles while the team of Jack Cannon and Nate Ihley picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at first doubles.

Girls Tennis
Taunton, 4 @ Attleboro, 1 – FinalThe Tigers swept all three singles matches and grabbed one more win in doubles play for a victory on the road. Jillian Pagliuca won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, McKenzie Lucie picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at second singles and Jocelyn Pagliuca prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at third singles. The team of Sam Martin and Brianna Fevrier recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win at first doubles. Attleboro’s Rena Danho and Jordan Bernardo emerged with a 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-5 (7-3) win at second doubles.

North Attleboro, 0 @ Canton, 5 – FinalCanton emerged with a 5-0 in a match that was played much closer than the final score makes it appear. Rachel Kupferman (6-0, 6-1) and Natalie Keppler (6-0, 6-0) both had strong showings at first and second singles, respectively. Sarah Hernandez battled to a 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 win at third singles for Canton. Stelina Michaelidis and Rose Hazam won 6-2, 6-3 at first doubles while the team of Kiara Cerruti and Lily Hazam picked up a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win at second doubles.

Foxboro, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – FinalIn a battle of Davenport powerhouses, Sharon earned a 4-1 win over previously unbeaten Foxboro. Senior Nupur Shukla picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles while freshman Valeria Barajas won 6-1, 6-1 at third singles for the Eagles. The team of senior Sophia Fein and sophomore Charlize Martinez won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles while junior Lauren Glass and senior Sachi Basin teamed up for a 6-0, 6-0 win at second doubles. Foxboro senior Julia Muise recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win at third singles.

Oliver Ames, 4 @ Franklin, 1 – FinalThe Tigers won all three singles matches and added one more win in doubles play to notch a victory on the road. Sarah Leger won 6-2, 6-0 at first singles, Maura Kiernan picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles, and Sarah Barron rallied for a 3-6, 6-2 10-7 win at third singles. OA’s first doubles team of Eva Belanger and Morgan Vasiliou won 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Franklin’s Ashvika Boopathy and Vagmi Kantheti won 6-2, 4-6, 5-7 at second doubles.

Stoughton, 0 @ Milford, 5 – FinalThe Scarlet Hawks defended home court by sweeping singles action in straight sets and getting two more wins in doubles play. Ashlyn Oliveri won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, Juliana France picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles, and Olivia Marshall earned a 6-0, 6-0 decision at third singles. The team of Caroline Middlecoat and Francielly Rodrigues won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles while Cristielly Prado and Ketny Sousa rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 win at second doubles.

Foxboro, 1 @ Attleboro, 10 – FinalAttleboro plated four runs in the second inning and scored in every other inning except for the fifth to score a big win over Foxboro and snap its five-game losing streak. Senior Jon Candiales won his first varsity start, scattering four hits, one walk, and six strikeouts in a complete game effort. At the plate, Candiales helped his own cause with two hits, including a double, and two RBI while James Weir added two hits – a double and a triple. Troy Gamache and Sam Larkin each went 2-for-4 with two RBI while Lorenzo Wilson played well in his first start behind the plate.

Canton, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 5 – FinalOA scored once in each the first and second innings and then tacked on three more in the fourth inning in a win over Canton. Matt Muir pitched 3.1 scoreless innings in relief without allowing a hit while Cam Perron tossed two scoreless innings in his first varsity outing on the mound. Mitch Goulet and Michael Friel each had a double and a run scored for the Tigers.

North Attleboro, 5 @ King Philip, 1 – Final

Milford, 4 @ Mansfield, 10 – FinalMansfield pushed across seven runs in the first inning and added two more in the second to build a big lead over visiting Milford. The Hornets totaled 13 hits as a team lead by Chris Jenkins (two RBI) and Kevin Dow (two runs, RBI) each contributing three hits. Cullin Anastasia added two hits, two runs, and two RBI while Tyler Dalton and Jake Gerraughty each drove in a pair of runs. Milford’s Aidan Wilde went 4-for-4 with two runs and an RBI while Matt Nickerson was 3-for-3 with three RBI for the Hawks. Mansfield junior Matt Scibilia allowed just one hit in 2.2 scoreless innings of relief.

Oliver Ames, 4 @ Canton, 15 – FinalCanton’s Caroline Hughes pitched a complete game in the circle and helped her own cause, going 4-for-5 at the plate, including a double, to help the Bulldogs get a big win. Ally Chin went 3-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored, Torie Anglin added an RBI triple, and freshman Nikki Desjardins had her first career hit and scored two runs. For Oliver Ames, Lexie Campbell was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Rachel Han was 2-4, and Kayla Georgeu had a triple and a run scored.

King Philip, 16 @ North Attleboro, 2 – Final

Mansfield, 7 @ Milford, 13 – FinalMilford scored in each of the first five innings to build a 13-2 lead against visiting Mansfield. Emily Piergustavo went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and two RBI while Sabrina Haarstick had two hits, including a home run, knocked in two runs, and scored twice for the Hawks, who had 18 hits. Kate Irwin scored four runs on two hits and Jess Tomaso finished with two doubles and three RBI. Kelley Reichert earned the win, striking out eight while allowing five hits in five innings of work. Mansfield had nine hits as a team, including the first varsity hits for Emma Roche and Tori Farrington. Kara and Mady Bendanillo, Caty DeMassi, Ella Verheggen, Mary Muldoon, and Grace Benton also had hits for the Hornets in the loss.

Sharon, 0 @ Norwood, 11 – Final

Taunton, 8 @ Stoughton, 0 – FinalTaunton senior Kya Enos and freshman Hannah Aldrich each belted a two-run home run in the third inning, helping the Tigers build a lead they would never surrender. Payton Ceglarski added an RBI single in what was a five-run third inning for Taunton. Enos (three hits) added another run with an RBI single in the fourth, and then drove in another run with a triple in the sixth inning. Aldrich (three hits) added another RBI in the sixth. Jaime Brown added three hits and McKenzie McAloon chipped in with two, including a double. Kelsey White allowed just two hits while striking out 10 in a complete game shutout. “She pitched a masterful game,” said THS head coach Dave Lewry.

Alli Meehan was the top scorer with four goals and two assists, while Caroline Klim had three goals and three assists. Jess Sullivan also had a hat trick for the Warriors, while Olivia Tormey and Dana Truini each had two in the win. KP also got goals from Lauren Anderson and Shayla Weitzman.

KP’s Sean Desrochers and Nate Ihley won 7-5, 6-2 at first doubles while Aidan Ignatius and Nick Ihley prevailed 6-3, 6-4 at second doubles.

Taunton, 4 @ Stoughton, 1 – FinalTaunton won its fourth straight match, taking both doubles matches and winning two more in singles play to get the win. Junior Brett Beaulieu won his 40th career match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles, Mike Briggs didn’t lose a single game at third singles, the team of Charlie Fiske and Alex Pugh won 6-3, 6-2 at first singles, and Kyle Dennehy and Trevor Hart notched a 6-3, 6-2 win at second doubles. Stoughton freshman Waseem Sablon won 7-6, 6-1 at first singles.

The team of Julia Muise and Sarah Prag won 6-3, 6-3 at first doubles and the pairing of Olivia Dantona and Kendell Milender won 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles.

Canton, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – FinalOliver Ames’ second doubles team of Olivia Groebe and Eva Belanger overcame a one-set deficit to battle back, winning in a tiebreak to give the Tigers the win. Groebe and Belanger won 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5) while OA’s first doubles team of Kristin Bloumbas and Emily Yu won 7-5, 6-2. Maura Kiernan earned OA’s first point, taking a 6-3, 6-0 decision at third singles. Canton freshmen Natalie Keppler (6-0, 6-1) and Rachel Kupferman (6-1, 6-0) won at first and second singles, respectively.
