North Attleboro, 2 @ Bishop Feehan, 2 – Final

Stoughton, 9 @ Apponequet/Connolly, 2 – FinalStoughton sophomore Sean Doherty scored a hat trick to pace the offense. Ryan Chipman and Jon Lessa each added a pair of goals for the Black Knights while sophomore Luke Bainton scored his first career goal.

Taunton, 2 @ Somerset-Berkley, 2 – Final

Wrestling
Peckham Tournament (Canton, Sharon) – Canton took second overall with 243 points at the 20th annual Peckham Tournament while Sharon grabbed fourth place with 176 points. Norton won the tournament with 289 points. First place finishes for Canton included Harry Carter (120), Eddie Marinilli (126), Anis Chakir (132), Joe Pacitti (152) and Mark Whalen (220). Sharon’s Ian Langol-Leonard won the 195 bracket.

Gymnastics
Oliver Ames, 137.3 @ Attleboro, 141.5 – FinalOliver Ames totaled its highest all around team score in four years but fell just short to Attleboro. OA sophomore Gianna Martucci placed third in the all around with a 35.75, scoring an 8.9 on both vault and bars, an 8.75 on beam, and a 9.2 on floor. Freshman Lauren Picanzi placed fourth overall with a 35.2, scoring an 8.8 on vault, 8.9 on bars, 8.6 on beam, and an 8.9 on floor for the Tigers. OA junior Charis MacCuish tied for first on the bars with a 9.4.

King Philip, 133.95 @ Attleboro, 141.5 – FinalAccording to athletic director Mark Houle, this was a school record score for the Bombardiers.

Mansfield @ Sharon, 9:30AM

Franklin, 114.35 @ Sharon, 126.7 – FinalFranklin junior Liz Traphagen took the individual all-around with a score of 32.65. Traphagen scored an 8.1 on vault, 7.6 on bars, 8.35 on beam and 8.6 on floor. Franklin sophomore Sadie Rondeau was third overall on beam with an 8.1

Girls Hockey
Franklin, 0 @ Canton, 6 – FinalCanton junior Marissa Devane potted a hat trick to pace the Bulldogs.

Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 4 @ Stoneham, 2 – FinalShayna Menzer scored a pair of goals for Mansfield/OA. Isabelle Shantler and Kenzi Fraser each scored a goal in the win.

King Philip, 7 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final Collin Cooke netted a hat trick to pace King Philip to the win. Stoughton sophomore goalie AJ Scott made 42 saves for the Black Knights.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalIn a back and forth game, Oliver Ames netted the equalizer with just three minutes left to earn a point. OA junior Rory Madden scored his second goal of the game in the third period for the equalizer while Max Ward also had a goal in the tie. OA head coach Sean Bertoni said sophomore James Beatty had an outstanding game for the Tigers.

Wrestling
Malden Catholic Quad (Canton, Mansfield) – Canton went 4-0 on the day, including avenging an earlier season loss. The Bulldogs picked up wins over Milton (51-27), Malden (27-12) and Malden Catholic (53-27) as well as a 37-36 win over Mansfield. The Hornets also had wins over Malden (42-12), Malden Catholic (45-37) and Milton (43-34). Mansfield had five grapplers go undefeated on the day: Antonios Sevastos (106) and Shane Cremmen (182) went 2-0, Jayden Curley (160) and Vinnie Holmes (170) went 3-0 and senior Ford DelVecchio (220) went 4-0. Freshman Will Stratton (126) and junior Hunter Shea (195) both went 3-1.

Carver Quad (Foxboro) – Foxboro went 2-1 on the day.

Algonquin Quad (Franklin) – Franklin went 3-0 on the day, picking up wins over West Springfield, Algonquin and Framingham, to improve to 15-0 on the season.

Holliston Quad (Milford) – Milford went 2-1 on the day.

Norton Quad (Oliver Ames), 9:00AM – Oliver Ames went 2-1 at the Norton Quad, beating Brockton (42-33) and Sabis (48-21) but falling to the host Lancers (41-31). Cobey Williamson (120) went 2-0 with a pair of pins while Liston Funai (132) went 3-0 on the day. Ryan DeCosta (113), Brandon Belleton (138), Eric Berardi (152), Dean Pacini (195) and Jack Mills (285) each had two wins on the day.

Friday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 01/13/17

Boys Basketball
Oliver Ames, 62 @ Attleboro, 49 – FinalOliver Ames built a 10 point lead by halftime and extended its lead to 17 in the third quarter to earn the road win. Attleboro battled back to cut the deficit to eight (48-40) entering the fourth quarter but Oliver Ames closed out the game with a 14-9 final quarter. Nick Welch scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Tigers while Jack Spillane added 15 points for OA.

Sharon, 49 @ Canton, 63 – FinalThe Bulldogs turn a close game at halftime (29-22) and built a 20-point lead in the third quarter. Sharon was able to cut it to 12 (46-34) entering the fourth quarter but Canton’s offense didn’t slow down with 19 points in the final quarter. Sophomore Devin Foster led the Bulldogs with a team-high 19 points while junior Austin Maffie netted 17 points and hauled in 7 rebounds. Sharon’s Malik Lorquet had 17 points and eight rebounds while Ricardo Ripley added 15 points and three steals.

Foxboro, 52 @ Milford, 65 – FinalMilford turned a one-point deficit at halftime into a lead behind 25 points in the third quarter. Foxboro got within six at just under six to play but couldn’t close the gap. Shane Cosquete scored a career-high 19 points to lead the Scarlet Hawks while Zack Tamagni added 18 points and Kayden Kelley had 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Taunton, 51 @ King Philip, 70 – Final

Stoughton, 54 @ North Attleboro, 68 – FinalNorth Attleboro was able to break the press and race out to a 22-6 lead through the first eight minutes. Stoughton’s Cam Andrews scored 12 of his game-high 21 points in the second quarter to get the Black Knights within 10 (32-22) at the break. Both offenses poured it on in the third quarter, totaling 55 points between the two teams. North Attleboro’s Chad Peterson scored eight of his 16 points in the final quarter, including a pair of key three pointers to help the Rocketeers ice the game. Jonny Friberg had a team-high 17 points for North while Brent Doherty added 13 points. The Rocketeers went 20/24 from the free throw line in the win.

Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 48 @ Oliver Ames, 60 – FinalOliver Ames used a dominant second half, outscoring the Bombardiers 34-19, to score a key division win over Attleboro. “It was a great defensive effort for us,” OA head coach Laney Clement-Holbrook said. Sadie Homer scored a career high 24 points to lead the Tigers while, Kayla Raymond had 12 points, Niyera Mitchell had eight points, 10 rebounds and five blocks and Abby Reardon chipped in with nine points.

Sharon, 54 @ Canton, 60 – FinalCanton used a 23-11 fourth quarter to pull out the victory. Hannah Jerrier scored 20 points (12 in the fourth quarter alone) and pulled down 14 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Emma Murphy chipped in with 11 points and Erin Devine had 10 for Canton. Emma Eberhardt scored 22 points in the loss and the Eagles also got 10 points apiece from Shira Stoller (six assists and seven rebounds) and Veronica and Kaitlyn Wallace.

Mansfield, 43 @ Franklin, 50 – FinalBea Bondhus scored a game-high 13 points for the Panthers, 10 in the second half, to help Franklin hand Mansfield its first league loss of the season. Carli Koffinke scored 12 points and Ali Brigham had 11 for the Panthers. The Hornets were led by Ann Maher’s 12 points, while Maggie Danehy scored nine and Jen Peel added eight (seven in the first quarter).

King Philip, 61 @ Taunton, 34 – FinalSophomores Shannon O’Connor and Julia Leroux each scored 14 points to lead the Warriors and freshman Faith Roy added 10. Hannah Moniz was the top scorer for Taunton with 11 points.
