Mansfield senior Aly Fernandes has been selected as the 2025 HockomockSports.com Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Fernandes led the league in scoring, setting a new program record for goals in a season, and helped the Hornets secure back-to-back Davenport division titles.
The Hamilton College-commit was a goal-scoring machine right from the opening whistle. She finished with a league-high 32 goals and added 12 assists, having a hand in nearly 70 percent of the team’s goals this year. There were games that she almost single-handedly carried the Hornets to wins, like her two second half goals to close out a win against Oliver Ames or her second-half hat trick against Milford in the opening round of the playoffs.
“Aly had an outstanding year,” said Mansfield coach Aaron Salter. “Her goal total was impressive, but just as remarkable was the variety of goals she scored, showcasing the complete player she has become this season and throughout her four-year career. Aly’s relentless work ethic, versatility, and her ability to both create and finish chances at the highest level have been truly instrumental.”
After leading the Hornets to 14 wins and a league title, Fernandes was selected as the Davenport division MVP by the Hockomock League coaches. She also earned EMGSCA First Team All-Eastern Mass, All-State, and All-New England honors. The leading scorer for the Hornets in all four years of her career, Fernandes surpassed the 100-point mark with her three goals and an assist against Milford in the tournament.
“Aly is so much fun to watch,” said HockomockSports.com Managing Editor Josh Perry. “She could turn even aimless passes forward into a scoring chance. Aly never stopped running, never gave up on any play, and never allowed the defense a moment of rest. She scored amazing goals in big moments against the best teams, an incredible season.”
Fernandes is the second Mansfield player to receive this award and first since Hannah Reiter in 2016. She is the first Davenport player to be named Player of the Year since Foxboro’s Kailee McCabe in 2021. Other Davenport players to be honored include Canton’s Lauren Berman (2012) and North Attleboro’s Ashlyn Gaulin in 2018.
Honorable Mentions: Tatum O’Brien (Attleboro), Georgia Campbell (Canton), Morgan Lovell (Franklin)

Ella McDonald – King Philip – Forward
King Philip junior Ella McDonald seemed to have a part to play in every successful attack for the Warriors this season. Whether she was lined up as a center forward, out on the wing, or dropping back to attacking midfield, McDonald could create chances from anywhere. She led the Warriors with 17 goals and 12 assists, which was among the top five scorers in the league. Her goals helped KP stay within a point of league champ Franklin and make an unexpected run to its first state semifinal since 2017. McDonald was selected as an all-star by the league coaches and earned EMGSCA First Team All-Eastern Mass honors. KP coach Gary Pichel said, “Ella was without a doubt the engine that ran our offense! She was instrumental in helping get to the Final Four this season.”
Kyla Nashawaty – Milford – Forward
Milford junior forward Kyla Nashawaty had another prolific season in front of goal for the Hawks, helping them record nine wins, reach the playoffs for the first time since 2019, and secure a first playoff win since 2013. Nashawaty scored 22 goals and dished out 10 assists for the Hawks this year, accounting for more than half of the team’s 58 goals. In her three seasons, Nashawaty has 44 goals and 21 assists, which puts her at or near the top of the program’s all-time scoring charts. For the third year in a row, Nashawaty was selected as a Hockomock League all-star and EMGSCA Second Team All-Eastern Mass. Milford coach Lou Colabello said, “Kyla is one of the top players in the league. Her talent and energy are second to none. Her presence on the field makes everyone else around her a better player.”
Aly Fernandes – Mansfield – Forward
Mansfield senior forward Aly Fernandes had a record-breaking final season for the Hornets, lifting them to 14 wins, a second straight Davenport division title, and to a fourth straight Div. 2 Sweet Sixteen. The Hamilton College-commit and HockomockSports.com Player of the Year (see above) was the top scorer in the league this season, finishing with 32 goals and 12 assists. She set a new program record for goals in a season and surpassed 100 points for her career. Fernandes was selected as the Davenport division MVP by the league’s coaches and earned All-New England honors. Mansfield coach Aaron Salter said, “Her goal total was impressive, but just as remarkable was the variety of goals she scored. Aly’s relentless work ethic, versatility, and her ability to both create and finish chances at the highest level have been truly instrumental to the team.”
Maddie Fernandes – Mansfield – Midfield
Mansfield senior Maddie Fernandes had her best scoring season of her four-year varsity career, while helping the Hornets in a variety of positions from winger to forward to center midfielder. The Hamilton College-commit was a critical piece of Mansfield’s 14-win season, second straight Davenport division title, and fourth straight Div. 2 Sweet Sixteen appearance. Fernandes scored 10 goals and had 15 assists this fall, which was in the top 10 in the Hock. She was selected as an all-star by the Hockomock League coaches and named EMGSCA First Team All-Eastern Mass. Mansfield coach Aaron Salter said, “Maddie was excellent this year coming off the wing, but the biggest compliment I can give her is her ability to step into multiple positions whenever we needed to adapt. She contributed with several assists, but her real impact came from her tremendous work rate off the ball and the defensive support she consistently provided.”
Tatum O’Brien – Attleboro – Midfield
Attleboro senior midfielder Tatum O’Brien led the Bombardiers in scoring again this fall, her fourth year as a starter, and helped them secure 10 wins and a return to the Div. 1 playoffs. The Quinnipiac University-commit scored 14 goals and dished out eight assists this season, finishing her career with 36 goals and 21 helpers. O’Brien was top 10 in the league in scoring all four years. She was named to the EMGSCA All-State Team and was selected as the Kelley-Rex division MVP by the Hockomock League’s coaches. Attleboro coach Steve Santos said, “Tatum has the game-changer quality that can impact a game at any moment, making her one of the most exciting players to coach and watch over my past 15 years of coaching girls soccer in the Hockomock League. She’s definitely one of the best players to come through the Attleboro program.”
Morgan Lovell – Franklin – Midfield
Franklin senior midfielder Morgan Lovell was the engine in the center of the pitch, driving the Panthers to the Kelley-Rex division title and to the program’s second Div. 1 state title game appearance. The Connecticut College-commit scored 12 goals and dished out a new program record and league-high 30 assists, helping out on almost half of Franklin’s 85 goals this season. Her presence in midfield was instrumental in Franklin boasting the league’s top attack (by more than 20 goals). She was selected as an all-star by the Hockomock League coaches and was named to the EMGSCA All-State team. Franklin coach Jodi Klein said, “Morgan is the consummate playmaker. She is constantly looking to get open and constantly looking to combine and create with her teammates. With 30 assists on this season alone, she made a huge impact in every game.”
Georgia Campbell – Canton – Midfield
Canton senior Georgia Campbell closed out her four-year varsity career by being the focal point of the attack for the Bulldogs this season, helping them win eight league matches and reach the Div. 2 Round of 32. The team leader in goals (eight) and assists (10), the Skidmore College-commit was one of the league’s most dynamic attackers, whether lined up in midfield or at forward. She had a hand in more than half of Canton’s goals this fall. Campbell was selected as an all-star by the Hockomock League coaches and earned EMGSCA All-State honors. Canton coach Idris Senyonjo said, “Georgia was dynamic on both sides of the ball, Georgia was a true game changer every time she steps on the field. A four-year varsity player and captain, she’s known for her relentless work ethic and ability to elevate everyone around her. She has been a joy to coach.”
Olivia Dunham – Mansfield – Defense
Mansfield senior Olivia Dunham was once again among the league’s top defensive players this season and a major contributor to the Hornets winning 14 matches, winning a second straight league title, and reaching the Div. 2 Sweet Sixteen for the fourth straight season. The Merrimack College-commit lined up exclusively at center back this year, but still provided two goals and an assist with her set-piece delivery. Prior to her late-season injury, Dunham helped Mansfield record three clean sheets and the Hornets allowed 18 goals in the 14 matches she played. She was selected as an all-star by the Hockomock League coaches and named EMGSCA First Team All-Eastern Mass. Mansfield coach Aaron Salter said, “Olivia has been a rock for our team over the last four years. Her long-range passing can unlock an entire defense with a single cutting ball, and her presence at the back makes it incredibly difficult for opponents to get past her.”
Isabella Sanchez – Canton – Defense
Canton senior center back Isabella Sanchez was the leader at the back for the Bulldogs this season and one of the reasons that they won eight matches in league play and reached the Div. 2 Round of 32. Sanchez helped the Bulldogs hold teams to 32 goals in 19 matches this season, and one of only two players on the team to play every minute. With Sanchez leading the way, Canton recorded six clean sheets this fall. Canton coach Idris Senyonjo said, “Bella is a team captain who served as the anchor of our defense. A four-year varsity player, she’s one of only two athletes to play every minute of every game this season — a testament to her endurance, consistency, and leadership. With her high soccer IQ, speed, and defensive sharpness, Bella was the backbone of our backline, while her precision on free kicks sparked several key goals on the offensive end. It has been great to see her grow year after year.”
Cassidy Carmignani – Franklin – Defense
Franklin senior defender Cassidy Carmignani was integral in the Panthers going on a run in the second half of the season to clinch the Kelley-Rex division title and reach the program’s second state title game. Moving from outside back into the middle this season, the University of St. Thomas (Minn.)-commit scored a pair of goals (including an Olimpico in the Final Four win) and dished out five assists. She was selected as a league all-star, named Second Team All-Eastern Mass, and earned the United Soccer Coaches Senior Excellence Award. Franklin coach Jodi Klein said, “Cassidy is the player I never take off the field. She has incredible closing speed and tackling ability and sets the performance standard in every game. She can play anywhere on the field but was a standout at center defender this season and we will miss her so much both on and off the field.”
Molly Fox – Stoughton – Goalie
Stoughton senior Molly Fox proved to be one of the best shot stoppers in the league, giving a relatively inexperienced Black Knights defense leadership and confidence this season. The Salve Regina University-commit had a 2.39 goals against average this season and had one clean sheet, but was also among the league’s busiest keepers and frequently came through with important saves to keep the Black Knights in games against even the league’s best teams. She was an honorable mention for league all-star. Stoughton coach JJ Battaglia said, “Molly often made highlight reel-worthy saves, 8-10 times a game. She was critical in every victory and her ability to continuously defend the net is unmatched. Molly’s leadership will leave a lasting impact on the program.”
HockomockSports.com Second XI
Linda Jenner – Sharon – Forward
Sharon sophomore Linda Jenner had a breakout season as the lead striker for the Eagles, helping them amass 17 points and reach the Div. 2 Round of 32 for the second straight season. Jenner led the team, and was one of the top scorers in the league, with 19 goals and three assists, including a goal in Sharon’s playoff match. She used her pace and finishing touch to have a hand in more than two-thirds of Sharon’s goals this season. Jenner was selected as an all-star by the Hockomock League coaches and earned Second Team All-Eastern Mass honors. Sharon assistant coach Neil Morris said, “Linda is a tremendously talented player whose offensive ability consistently drives her team forward. Just as impressive is the grit and determination she brings to every game, setting a standard her teammates can follow.”
Lily Strong – Franklin – Forward
Franklin sophomore forward Lily Strong had a breakout season as one of the top attacking threats in the league and her goal-scoring touch and hold-up play were key to the Panthers turning the season around in the second half, winning the Kelley-Rex division title, and reaching the Div. 1 state title game for the second time in program history. The HockomockSports.com Underclassman of the Year (see below) scored a team-high 25 goals (second in the Hock) and had two assists. Her 27 points were in the top five in the league. Strong was selected as a league all-star and earned EMGSCA Second Team All-Eastern Mass honors. Franklin coach Jodi Klein said, “Lily is a striker at heart. She is strong and fast and has incredible power and accuracy in her finishing touches. Playing with her back to goal has become a strong weapon of hers and she is dangerous any time she touches the ball.”
Sophia Foley – Mansfield – Forward
Mansfield junior winger Sophia Foley had a breakout season on the left side of the attack, giving the Hornets balance along the front line and delivering crucial goals to help the team secure 14 wins, back-to-back Davenport division titles, and a fourth straight Div. 2 Sweet Sixteen appearance. Foley scored 11 goals and had 11 assists while giving the Hornets endless running and tenacity both going forward and tracking back to defend. She was selected as an all-star by the Hockomock League coaches. Mansfield coach Aaron Salter said, “Sophia had a great season. Her ability to take players on while driving in off the wing was a threat for us all year. She is a strong, relentless athlete who leaves everything on the field. I’m looking forward to seeing what she can achieve in her senior year.”
Anela Lefter – Milford – Midfield
Milford freshman Anela Lefter stepped right into the lineup this season and delivered a terrific rookie campaign. Her ability to control play in the center of the pitch helped the Hawks win nine matches, reach the playoffs for the first time in six years, and bring home a first playoff win since 2013. Lefter had no issues stepping up to the varsity level, scoring seven goals and dishing out 16 assists, including goals in each of Milford’s playoff games, while giving Milford an imposing physical presence in midfield. She was selected as an honorable mention for all-star by the Hockomock League coaches. Milford coach Lou Colabello said, “Anela is one of the most talented freshman I have ever coached. She has outstanding skill and field presence for her age. You know you are something special when your teammates applaud your talent.”
Donnelle Balunos – King Philip – Midfield
King Philip junior Donnelle Balunos started the season helping out in the back line but quickly moved to her more natural spot in the heart of midfield where her creativity, skills in possession, and willingness to put in a tackle were key to the Warriors making an unexpected run to their first Final Four since 2017. Balunos finished with five goals and two assists but her impact went beyond stats by winning back and keeping possession, even under pressure. She was selected as a league all-star, named EMGSCA Second Team All-Eastern Mass, and got a call-up from the Philippines national team program for its fall matches. KP coach Gary Pichel said, “Donnelle was the ultimate center midfielder, controlling play both offensively as well as defensively. We look forward to watching her leadership grow next year!”
Jessica Li – Sharon – Midfield
Sharon senior midfielder Jessica Li closed out her four-year varsity career with another outstanding season as the key playmaker for the Eagles, as they finished with 17 points and reached the Div. 2 Round of 32 for the second season in a row. Playing just behind the forwards, Li scored a pair of goals and recorded a team-high eight assists, while also contributing to the team’s press and frequently winning the ball back. Li was selected as an all-star by the Hockomock League coaches and earned EMGSCA All-State honors. Sharon assistant coach Neil Morris said, “Jessica is that rare athlete whose on-field skill is matched equally by her leadership, academics, and genuine care for others. Driven to excel in every area of life, Jess manages to do it all while keeping a smile on her face and lifting the spirits of every teammate throughout the season.”
Siena Fabrizio – Oliver Ames – Midfield
Oliver Ames junior Siena Fabrizio returned from a season missed by injury and became the main attacking threat for the Tigers, helping them amass 10 wins and reach the Div. 2 Sweet Sixteen. Fabrizio played a variety of roles this year, lining up out wide, up top, or in the center of midfield, but always produced. She led the Tigers with seven goals and five assists, accounting for nearly half of OA’s goals this season. Fabrizio was selected as an all-star by the Hockomock League coaches and earned EMGSCA First Team All-Eastern Mass honors. OA coach Candice Spiniolas said, “This recognition reflects not only her exceptional talent, but the impact she had on our team from start to finish. She consistently delivered in big moments and elevated the players around her. Siena is a fierce competitor who leads with passion, intensity, and an unwavering love for the game. Her presence set the tone for our group all year, and we’re incredibly proud of everything she accomplished.”
Kennedy Samuel – Attleboro – Defense
Attleboro junior Kennedy Samuel was an impact player on both ends of the field this season, helping the Bombardiers secure double-digit wins and make another state tournament appearance. In her second year as a starter, Samuel stood out as a striker or as a center back, depending on the needs of specific games. She finished the season with 10 goals and six assists, more than doubling her total from a year ago, but also dominated on defense, winning challenges and carrying the ball out of pressure. She was selected as an all-star by the Hockomock League coaches and EMGSCA Second Team All-Eastern Mass. Attleboro coach Steve Santos said, “Kennedy knows how to time her runs well and has exceptional speed. She plays the game tough and is strong in the air.”
Keira D’Arcy – Foxboro – Defense
Foxboro junior center back Keira D’Arcy had an impressive second season on varsity, helping the Warriors win eight matches and reach the Div. 3 Sweet Sixteen for the second consecutive year. The Warriors have been a tough defensive team for the past couple seasons, one of the reasons the team has played so many one-goal games, and D’Arcy has been at the heart of that, sweeping up opposition attacks and helping Foxboro hold teams to 35 goals in 18 regular season matches. D’Arcy also chipped in with a pair of goals. Foxboro coach Jen Lippolis said, “Keira is the backbone of our defense, anchoring our back line with poise and toughness every single game. As our starting centerback, she won battles all over the field and never backed down, no matter the challenge. She even stepped up in big moments on offensive corners, delivering crucial goals when we needed them most.”
Sara Paul – Oliver Ames – Defense
Oliver Ames sophomore Sara Paul stepped into a new role this season as the starting center back and she was a key member of the league’s stingiest defense, helping the Tigers win 10 matches and reach the Div. 2 Sweet Sixteen. With Paul controlling things in the heart of the back line, OA held teams to just 14 goals in 18 matches this season, averaging only 0.78 goals against, and keeping nine clean sheets. All of those totals were the best in the league. She also provided a late winning goal off a corner in a non-league match against Div. 3 power Norwell. OA coach Candice Spiniolas said, “Sara Paul was a first-year varsity starter at center back and played nearly every minute of all 18 games. Sara brings a positive attitude, relentless work ethic, and a humble presence that made her a key part of the team’s success.”
Ashlyn Hebert – Taunton – Goalie
Taunton junior Ashlyn Hebert has been a mainstay between the posts for the Tigers since winning the starting job as a freshman. She has been one of the league’s top shot stoppers for the past three seasons and this year was instrumental in keeping the Tigers in the playoff race to the final weeks of the regular season. In 18 matches, Hebert had five clean sheets and allowed 2.44 goals per game. She was busy this season, making 146 saves (more than eight per match). She also recorded three assists and scored her first varsity goal when given the chance to play the field once this year. Hebert was selected as an all-star by the league’s coaches. Taunton coach Dan Borges said, “Since Ashlyn won the starting position her freshmen year, I have had the pleasure of observing her consistent improvement year after year to the point that in my opinion she is the best goalkeeper in the Hock.”

Franklin sophomore Lily Strong has been selected as the 2025 HockomockSports.com Girls Soccer Underclassman of the Year, as the top performing freshman or sophomore player. The sophomore forward had a breakout season and was in the top five in the league in scoring.
Strong had an impressive rookie campaign, finishing one shy of the 20-point mark, but this year she more than doubled her goal tally. She finished with 25 goals, which was second best in the Hock, and added a pair of assists. Her 27 total points was good for fifth highest in the league. Strong was selected as an all-star by the Hockomock League coaches and earned EMGSCA Second Team All-Eastern Mass honors, while helping Franklin claim the Kelley-Rex division title and make a run to the program’s second state title game appearance.
“Lily has all the tools that you’d want from a striker,” said HockomockSports.com Managing Editor Josh Perry. “Not only does she have the obvious size and strength to battle with defenders, but her deft touch with both feet is so hard to contain. Lily also has that striker’s confidence that she can take on any defender and score any time she gets close to the penalty area.”
Franklin coach Jodi Klein said, “Lily is a striker at heart. She is strong and fast and has incredible power and accuracy in her finishing touches. Playing with her back to goal has become a strong weapon of hers and she is dangerous any time she touches the ball.”
Strong is the third Franklin player to receive this recognition, joining Victoria Stowell (2013) and Anya Zub (2021).
Honorable Mentions: Ava Quintin (King Philip), Anela Lefter (Milford), Sara Paul (Oliver Ames), Linda Jenner (Sharon)
Coach of the Year
Coach of the Year

Franklin head coach Jodi Klein has been selected as the 2025 HockomockSports.com Girls Soccer Coach of the Year after leading the Panthers to a fifth Kelley-Rex division title in the past six seasons and to the Div. 1 state title game.
Early in the season, Franklin was struggling for consistent form and, following a loss to Medfield, was just 3-4-1. The Panthers would only lose twice more this season. Franklin flipped the season on its head and would finish on a 12-2-1 run over the final 15 matches, which helped it win the league title by a single point over rival King Philip.
The Panthers were the league’s top offensive team, scoring 85 goals in 23 games, an average of more than 3-1/2 goals per match, which was more than 20 goals better than the second-best team in the Hock. That attacking threat carried Franklin to four playoff victories, including a thrilling comeback to beat Hopkinton in the quarterfinal. Franklin would reach the D1 final for just the second time in program history.
“Franklin looked out of sorts early in the season, but Jodi turned it all around and it became one of the best seasons in program history,” said HockomockSports.com Managing Editor Josh Perry. “Jodi wasn’t afraid to rely on younger players in key positions, and she found the right combination to get the offense clicking. They played with a swagger, knowing they could compete with anyone in the state.”
Klein is the second Franklin coach to win this award, following Tom Geysen, who received the first two coach of the year awards in 2012 and 2013.
Honorable Mentions: Lou Colabello (Milford), Gary Pichel (King Philip), Aaron Salter (Mansfield)
