Serena Akinboboye
Serena Akinboboye is a dedicated student, athlete, and community leader whose work reflects a deep commitment to service, leadership, and connection. Throughout her academic and extracurricular experiences, she has consistently sought opportunities to uplift others, strengthen her community, and create spaces where people feel supported and heard, values that strongly align with the mission of LEAP.
Serena’s passion for service is evident in the many ways she contributes to her community. Through the Prison Book Program in Quincy, Massachusetts, she has spent weekends preparing and packaging books for incarcerated individuals, ensuring that people in need have access to educational and personal resources.
At Sturdy Hospital, she assisted with patient registration and created handmade crafts to help bring comfort to in-patients during challenging times. She has also served as an intramural volleyball coach at North, mentoring younger students and helping them build the confidence and skills they need for high school and beyond.
These experiences continue to shape her belief that meaningful service is one of the most powerful ways to build connection and community.
Serena is an active and engaged member of her school community through multiple clubs and leadership roles. As a member of Bear Club at North Attleboro High School, she participates in recycling and school-improvement projects that promote responsibility and care for the school environment.
Through her involvement in Protecting and Saving Endangered Animals (P.A.S.E.A.), she advocates for animal welfare and environmental awareness. She has also served as a Yearbook Head Editor (Designer), where she applies creativity, organization, and collaboration to help capture the school community’s story.
Each of these clubs allows her to engage with different groups of people, deepen her leadership abilities, and contribute to her school in diverse and meaningful ways.
One of Serena’s most impactful leadership accomplishments is the creation of the Hockomock Student Voice Summit, a project she launched with two peers. After noticing a lack of unity across schools in the Hockomock League, she helped expand the Student Voice Summit at North Attleboro High School into a regional initiative.
Months of outreach, planning, and collaboration led to the successful launch of the first semi-annual Hockomock Student Voice Summit. Through this project, Serena learned that leadership thrives on teamwork, shared responsibility, and consistent commitment.
She also discovered the power of bringing people together with a shared purpose, demonstrating that collective effort can lead to meaningful and lasting change.
Serena’s leadership style is also shaped by her athletic background. Having played sports her entire life, she recognizes the importance of supporting teammates, especially during difficult moments.
She understands that different people need different types of encouragement, whether gentle reassurance or energetic motivation, and she makes it a priority to show her teammates that she, the coaches, and the entire team believe in them.
Even when facing her own challenges, she remains committed to lifting others up and helping them rediscover confidence.
As a rising junior, Serena looks forward to bringing her leadership experience, community involvement, academic drive, and dedication to service to the LEAP community.
She is eager to continue growing, learning from others, and contributing to a program that values empowerment, collaboration, and student voice.
