King Philip junior Calleigh Brady has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Feb. 23 through March 1. Brady is the 25th athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year and the 11th in the winter season.
Brady delivered the biggest moment of the season with her goal in double overtime that lifted the Warriors to a dramatic Sweet Sixteen victory over rival Canton and booked a place in the program’s first state quarterfinal. It was just Brady’s second goal of her career (the first coming earlier this season against Mansfield/Oliver Ames).
“One goal in her whole career but she anchors our power play and she keeps going out there because you know it’s going to happen at some point and it’s going to be a good one,” said King Philip head coach Tim Langevin after the win. “Today was obviously a good time for it. That shot was just fantastic. I can’t even remember it going in, it’s such a blur right now.”
This was the second season in a row that KP and Canton have faced off three times. KP won three of the last four regular season meetings, but the Bulldogs won last year’s first-round playoff matchup. Brady had several important interventions in the defensive zone, including a clearance when a rebound on a shot from the point was sitting in the crease that kept the game scoreless.
Just 35 seconds into the second overtime, with the teams skating 3-on-3, Brady got the puck back from freshman Stephanie LeBlanc and walked it from right to left across the zone. Brady fired a wrister from a couple feet inside the blue line and picked the top corner high to the blocker side, beating the goalie, securing the win, and setting off a celebration on the ice with her teammates. KP advances to the quarterfinal and will face the winner of Pembroke and Hanover.
