North Attleboro junior Maxx Zides has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Oct. 18 through Oct. 24. Zides is the seventh athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2026-27 school year.
Zides had a stellar week on the links, winning medalist honors at the Div. 1 Central Sectional tournament on Monday at Kettle Brook Golf Club (Paxton, Mass.) and three days later took the individual title at the annual Hockomock Golf Championships held at Norton Country Club, helping North win the team title by three strokes over Canton.
“All of them have gotten better. They’ve worked hard at it and it shows,” North Attleboro head coach Steve Nelson said of his team. “Especially all three guys that counted today, they’ve all worked extremely hard to get better. Max is one of the best players in the state, Lincoln [Frisoli] is right behind him and Tommy’s [Manning] had a great year. He’s worked very hard all year to improve his game, and showed it today that he was up there to help us win.”
At Kettle Brook, Zides shot a one-under-par 71 to lead the field, winning by a single stroke over golfers from St. John’s and Chelmsford. He got off to a great start, making the turn with a three-under-par 33 after birdies on two, five, and seven. A 38 on the back nine was enough to take home the individual title. At Hocks, Zides recorded three birdies in his opening 14 holes and sat at one-under. He responded to a double bogey on the 15th with a birdie two holes later, closing out his round at even par and four strokes in front of teammate Lincoln Frisoli, who took second. As a team, North improved by 20 strokes from last year’s sixth place finish to take home the title.
On Monday, at Wellesley Country Club, Zides was the top Hockomock league finisher at the D1 state tournament. He shot a plus-five 76 and was tied for seventh overall, five strokes behind a trio of golfers who finished at even par.
