Foxboro senior pitcher and shortstop Ryan O’Leary has been named the 2025 HockomockSports Baseball Player of the Year. O’Leary dominated on the mound and was one of the top offensive players in the Hockomock League this season, helping the Warriors qualify for the state tournament once again this year.
“Ryan wrapped up a stellar career at Foxboro with an outstanding final season, excelling both at the plate and on the mound,” said HockomockSports Editor Ryan Lanigan. “He was the Warriors’ go-to guy in the biggest moments, and time after time, he came through. Over the past two seasons, he’s established himself as one of the premier arms in the league. This year, he took it a step further by becoming one of the Hock’s top offensive threats as well.”
O’Leary, who was also selected as the Hockomock League Davenport division MVP by the coaches, was Foxboro’s ace and started at shortstop when he wasn’t on the mound. Offensively, O’Leary was a mainstay at the No. 3 spot in the lineup and was among the league leaders in a number of categories. He finished the regular season top 10 for batting average and had the top batting average for the Warriors for the entire season with playoffs included, hitting .356 in 88 plate appearances. He went 26-for-73 on the year, leading Foxboro with nine doubles, and added one triple, 13 RBI, 13 runs, and 12 walks.
“Ryan has put up remarkable numbers over the last three seasons and earned well-deserved MVP honors in the Hockomock League this season,” said Foxboro head coach Derek Suess. “He has a quiet confidence and plays the game the right way. Ryan will go down as one of the best to ever wear our uniform.”
On top of his strong offensive season, O’Leary put together yet another stellar season on the mound. A workhorse on the mound, he tossed 58 innings this season with five complete games, posting a 5–3 record. He allowed just 18 runs (seven earned) on 43 hits while striking out 68 batters, with a 0.84 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP. He limited opposing batters to just a .198 batting average. In his four-year career, O’Leary had a 0.79 ERA over 143.1 innings, striking out 141 batters.
O’Leary is the first Foxboro player to win the award in its 10-year history. Former winners include Mansfield’s Jake Maydak (2024) and Tyler Dalton (2018), Taunton’s Ryan MacDougall (2022) and Luke Figueira (2016), Franklin’s Alex Haba (2019), Stoughton’s Justin Hutchinson (2017), Oliver Ames’ Brendan Welch (2015) and David MacKinnon (2013), and Attleboro’s Max Lancaster (2014).

Taunton junior Joey Benoit had a breakout season playing first base and was a big reason why the Tigers secured back-to-back Kelley-Rex division titles for the first time since joining the Hockomock League. Canton junior Teddy Shuman emerged as one of the top two-way players in the Hockomock League this spring, playing a vital role in helping the Bulldogs compete for the Davenport title late into the season and secure a home tournament game. Offensively, he led the Hockomock League with 30 hits and a .423 batting average during the regular season. With playoffs included, he finished the year 32-for-75 (.427) with six doubles, 13 RBI, 20 runs scored, and eight stolen bases. A fierce competitor, Cam constantly delivered in big moments, he had a knack for pitching out of jams and finding a way to keep us in games.”

He had many moments where he stepped up to make big plays in the field and at the plate over the last two seasons.”

Sharon sophomore Mason Silverman has been named the 2025 HockomockSports Baseball Underclassman of the Year after a strong season both on the mound and at the plate offensively. He was also voted as a Hockomock League All Star by the coaches and was selected to the HockomockSports.com Second Team.

To face over 200 batters, and the majority of them Hock players, and hold them to a .202 average is impressive, especially as a sophomore.”
He finished the season with three wins on the mound, striking out 47 in 52 innings, including 16 looking. He only issued 10 walks and worked his way out of jams, stranding 39 runners on base while holding opponents to a .167 batting average with runners in scoring position. Coach of the Year – Blair Bourque, Taunton
Taunton head coach Blair Bourque has been selected as the 2025 HockomockSports Baseball Coach of the Year after leading the Tigers to a second consecutive Kelley-Rex division title and the top seed in the Division 1 tournament.
In his eighth season at the helm, Bourque helped the Tigers secure back-to-back Kelley-Rex division titles for the first time since Taunton joined the Hockomock League. Taunton posted a 14-2 league record, earning at least one win against all 11 other Hockomock teams, including a sweep of the Davenport division. Taunton had the highest opponent rating in all of Division 1 and finished the regular season with a 16-6 record.
“Taunton entered the season with some question marks, but Coach Bourque quickly turned the Tigers into a fundamentally sound team built on strong pitching and clutch hitting,” said HockomockSports Editor Ryan Lanigan. “They became one of the toughest teams to beat, and every opponent knew they had to be at their absolute best just to have a shot.”
This is the first time Bourque has earned the honor, and he is the second Taunton baseball coach to win the award, joining Jeff Sylvia in 2013. Previous winners include Milford’s Alex Dion (2024), Foxboro’s Derek Suess (2022), Franklin’s Zach Brown (2019 and 2017), North Attleboro’s Mike Hart (2018), Stoughton’s Mike Armour (2016), Mansfield’s Joe Breen (2015), and Oliver Ames’ Leo Duggan (2014).
Honorable Mention: Jeff Plympton (King Philip), Chris Hall (Mansfield), Mike Hart (North Attleboro)
