Tim LaRowe
Franklin senior midfielder Tim LaRowe has been named the third annual HockomockSports.com Boys Soccer Player of the year. LaRowe was also selected as a Hockomock League All Star, EMass All Star and named an All-State player by the EMSCA.

LaRowe was a big reason why the Panthers were able to claim their fourth straight Hockomock League Kelley-Rex Division title. He scored four goals and had four assists on the season, but his affect on the game went far beyond the stat sheet.

“Statistics don’t really tell the story of how valuable Tim was to our team,” Franklin head coach Fran Bositis said. “He was clearly an outstanding leader, someone who his teammates looked up to and responded to. He was like having a coach on the field, he was our organizer offensively and defensively.

“Offensively, pretty much everything we did went through Tim, he started it. From a defensive standpoint, even though he was in the midfield he was really the great communicator and organizer out there. I can’t say enough for his ability to read the play, always put himself in the right position. He was tremendous in the air and he was really the glue that held us together. I know he had a lot of help but he is a special player.”

Though he wasn’t among the leaders in goals or assists, LaRowe was well known around the league for his play.

“Tim was the backbone of what was one of the toughest Franklin defenses we’ve ever faced,” Taunton head coach Dave Purpura said. “His presence was felt all over the field especially on set pieces and I think he genuinely made the people around him play better. LaRowe was the unquestioned leader on a great team and it’s no accident that’s he led them to two league titles and had some big time tournament performances.”

“Tim was the best field general in the league this year,” HockomockSports.com Editor-in-Chief Ryan Lanigan said. “He doesn’t have the most goals or assists, but he was the best player on the best team in the league. He was able to change a game an instant with his ability to defend and then turn it into an attack.”

Joe Morrison
Foxboro freshman midfielder Joe Morrison has been named the third annual HockomockSports.com Boys Soccer Underclassman of the Year. This award is given out to the top freshman or sophomore player from the past season. Morrison burst onto the scene and helped Foxboro make a deep postseason run.

Morrison was also named a Hockomock League All Star, EMass All Star and All-State All Star. He was one of the top scoring players in the Hockomock this season with an incredible 17 goals and nine assists.

“Joe is definitely a special player,” Foxboro head coach Pat Nash said. “He has sound technical skills and understands the tactics of the game. Other coaches often describe him as a magnet because the ball seems to be drawn toward him, especially in the crucial points of the game. His composure to put the ball in the back of the net is second to none I’ve seen in the league in my seven years of coaching. One of the most impressive things about Joe is actually how humble he is about his success both on and off the field. He definitely has gifts he’s been given physically but no one realizes his work ethic and drive to continually improve in the game he is clearly passionate about. He elevates every other player’s game around him.”

“Joe Morrison is one of the best young soccer players I’ve ever covered,” HockomockSports.com Editor-in-Chief Ryan Lanigan coveted. “He is an incredibly composed for his age and had no problem taking over and dominating the game at the varsity level. He has a great ability to not only put the ball in the back of the net, but to set teammates up. He makes passes that most other soccer players wouldn’t even see.”

Morrison was also the first freshman to be named to the HockomockSports.com Best XI.

Pat NashFoxboro head coach Pat Nash has been selected as the 2014 HockomockSports.com Boys Soccer Coach of the Year. This is the first time Nash has received this honor, following OA coach John Barata, who won each of the first two seasons the award was given out.

Nash led the Warriors to a 13-4-1 regular season and a 12-4 league record, which earned the team the Davenport Title.

The Warriors had just four seniors on the entire team with just two getting a large chunk of minutes. For the majority of the season, Foxboro started two seniors, three juniors, three sophomores and three freshman.

In the playoffs, Foxboro advanced to the D3 South Semifinals while being seeded sixth. Nash guided the Warriors to wins over #11 Bourne and an upset of #3 Norton.
