Oliver Ames junior forward Hannah Friend has been named the second annual HockomockSports.com Field Hockey Player of the Year. Friend was also selected as a Hockomock League All Star for the second straight year.
Friend was named the HockomockSports.com Underclassman of the Year last year and is the first player in any sport to win that award and then Player of the Year.
“Hannah is a very talented forward who has worked hard to hone her technical skills,” Oliver Ames head coach Janice Sundell said. “She has been the mainstay of our offense and is our go-to player. She has great understanding and passion for the game and is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Hannah is a big reason for Oliver Ames going undefeated this season.”
On the season, Friend scored 10 goals and added five assists to lead the Tigers in scoring. It’s the second straight year Friend has led OA in scoring and now has 31 goals and 12 assists in her three-year varsity career.
