Cate Noone 2024 HockomockSports Girls Lacrosse Awards
Foxboro junior attacker Cate Noone has been named the 2024 HockomockSports.com Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year. Noone led the Warriors in scoring this season, helping them secure a 12th consecutive Davenport division title and make a run to the Div. 3 Final Four for the second straight spring.

“Cate is so creative around the goal, whether looking for her own shot or teeing up a teammate for a scoring chance,” said HockomockSports.com Managing Editor Josh Perry. “She has great awareness of the space around her and how to maneuver through it. Cate pulls off passes and shots that other players would never try and she’s a lot of fun to watch.”

“Cate was our draw specialist this year,” said Foxboro coach Kathleen McCullough. “Cate has great vision on the field and led us in assists. She is always looking to set up her teammates as well as being an attacking threat.”

Noone is the third Foxboro player to earn this honor in the last four seasons that it has been given out and the fourth junior to have been honored. Foxboro’s Paige Curran (2022) and Sophia DiCenso (2018) also earned this honor as juniors, as was the first recipient of the award, Franklin’s Marta Versprille (2013).

Coach of the Year – Kathleen McCullough

Kathleen McCullough 2024 HockomockSports Girls Lacrosse AwardsFoxboro head coach Kathleen McCullough has been named the 2024 HockomockSports.com Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to a 12th consecutive Davenport division title and to back-to-back Div. 3 Final Fours.

The Warriors graduated key players from last season’s team and had several underclassmen stepping into big roles on both ends of the field, but they hardly missed a beat. Foxboro was the league’s top-scoring team with 312 goals in 22 games (more than 14 per game) and the third-best defensively, allowing a little more than eight goals per game this season. Despite losses to King Philip and Franklin, Foxboro clinched the Davenport title by two games, sweeping the rest of the league.

After a pair of early-round blowouts, Foxboro showed its mettle by going on the road and beating a strong Wayland team to book a return to the D3 state semifinal. It was the second year in a row that Foxboro had reached that stage and just the third time in program history.

“With two Final Fours in three seasons, Kathleen has ensured that Foxboro is always in the conversation for top programs in D3,” said HockomockSports.com Managing Editor Josh Perry. “From the start of the season, she had them focused on the end goal, on making that tournament run, and the growth they demonstrated from the opening game to the semifinal is a testament to Kathleen’s leadership and the players’ willingness to buy in.”

McCullough is the second Foxboro coach to receive this award, joining Brittany Sherry (2015), and the sixth different coach to earn this honor in the nine years that it has been given out. She joins Franklin’s Kristin Igoe Guarino, who has won the award four times (2013, 2014, 2017, and 2019), King Philip’s Kourtnie Webster (2018), Sharon’s Colleen Manning (2016), and Canton’s Casey Bradley (2022).
