When Ella Florence hit a hook shot late in the first quarter, Chicopee had cut the Foxboro lead to 12-10 and it looked like the Warriors had a battle on their hands. Kailey Sullivan drilled a three and hit a tough floater to close out the first and Foxboro was off and running. The Warriors would go on a 57-5 run from the first quarter into the fourth, finding an unstoppable gear and cruising into the Div. 2 Final Four. Sullivan knocked down six three-pointers and finished with a game-high 26 points (and six rebounds). Sophomore Addie Ruter had another double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while also dishing out five assists and blocking two shots. Camryn Collins had another outstanding all-around game, scoring 15 points, grabbing six boards, five steals, and three blocks. Erin Foley added seven points to her typically strong on-ball defense. Foxboro’s starters were able to rest in the fourth quarter, where Maddie Maher and Kylie Sampson each buried threes and Reese Hassman added four points. Foxboro will face top seed Walpole in the state semifinal at a date, time, and location to be determined.

#2 Lawrence, 67 vs. #18 Attleboro, 47 – FinalAttleboro played even with one of the state’s best for most of the first half but a small surge at the end of the half gave Lawrence a double-digit lead they held the rest of the way. Senior Justin Hanrahan had seven first quarter points and freshman Connor Houle had four as Attleboro and Lawrence were tied 13-13 after one, and the Bombardiers were down just seven as the first half was coming to a close but a turnover led to points for the Lancers, who staked a 34-23 halftime lead. Lawrence poured in 22 points in the third quarter and never let Attleboro back into the game. Sophomore Hayden Crowley had a team-high 11 points, Hanrahan finished with 10 points, and senior Jaiden Outland had seven points.

#3 Franklin, 47 vs. #14 Brockton, 56 – Final

Division 2
#2 Mansfield, 64 vs. #15 Salem, 43 – FinalAfter a tough close to the third quarter saw Mansfield’s double-digit lead cut down to just two possessions, Mansfield came out and slammed the door shut with a dominant fourth quarter to book their spot in the Division 2 Elite 8. Mansfield’s defense held Salem to just 17 points over the first two quarters for a 27-17 halftime lead. But the Witches closed the third strong and ended up scoring more in that quarter (19 points) than the entire second half, cutting the 10-point lead down to just five, 41-36, going into the fourth. The Hornets came out with a 9-0 run to start the fourth and never looked back, outscoring the Witches 23-7 in the last stanza. Junior Eddie McCoy had a terrific night on the offensive end, shooting over 70% from the floor (12-for-17), including six three-pointers, on his way to a career-high 31 points to lead the charge. McCoy caught fire in the fourth, hitting four of those threes and finishing with 15 points in the fourth. He also had seven steals and hauled in four rebounds. Sophomore Nate Creedon had a big night in his first start of the season with a career-high 11 points to go along with five rebounds and six assists. Senior Chris Hill hit a trio of threes and finished with 11 points, sixi boards, four assists, and two blocks. Mansfield will host #10 Marblehead (who beat #7 Pope Francis, 59-57), with the date and time to be announced.

#4 Canton, 3 vs. #13 Milton, 1 – FinalLilah Spinelli broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the second period and Izzy Cusack sealed the win with a late empty netter to send Canton back to the Div. 2 quarterfinal. Devan Spinale had the first goal of the game before Milton answered back and sent the teams into the first intermission tied. Canton will host the winner of No. 5 Algonquin and No. 12 Dedham.

#2 Mansfield, 71 vs. #34 Newburyport, 25 – FinalMansfield limited the visitors to five or fewer points in three quarters and its offense clicked throughout to open the state tournament with a 71-25 rout of Newburyport. Mansfield poured in 21 points in the opening eight minute while limiting the Clippers to just a pair of field goals for a 21-4 lead. That advantage ballooned to 37-9 by halftime. Junior Trevor Foley had nine of his team-high 14 points in the opening quarter and junior Eddie McCoy dropped in 10 of his 12 points in the first frame to get the Hornets going. Senior JT Veiking added 10 of his team-high 14 points in the third quarter and Caden Colby had a balanced night and finished with 12 points. The Hornets will host #15 Salem on a date and time to be announced by the MIAA.

#3 Sharon, 70 vs. #30 South High, 57 – FinalSharon’s offense proved to be too much as the Eagles outscored South in each quarter on their way to a Round of 32 victory. Nate Katznelson was a force down low for the Eagles, hitting 10 two-point field goals to tie a season-high with 24 points. Senior Matt Baur helped the Eagles get off to a strong start with seven of his nine in the opening period while both Jacob McLoughlin and Dante James spread their points around and finished with 10 points each. Sharon established a 35-27 lead by halftime and stretched it to 53-39 going into the fourth. Ryan Brown and Tyler Goodman both had strong defensive performances in the win. Sharon will host #19 Burlington, who knocked off Canton, on Tuesday at 6:00.

#14 Canton, 50 vs. #19 Burlington, 62 – FinalCanton fell behind in the first quarter and couldn’t find a run to get the lead back in a Round of 32 loss to Burlington. The Bulldogs fell behind by five (20-15) after one and trailed 33-21 going into the half. A 19-point third quarter from the visitors prevented Canton from getting any closer the rest of the way. Jeremiah Predin led Canton with 12 points while Jamaal McConnell and Caden Mirliani each had 11 points.

#10 Newton North,69 vs. #23 Mansfield, 53 – FinalWith a fourth quarter free throw, Abby Wager reached the 1,000-point mark for her career. Wager finished with 27 overall (1,008 for her career), but was the lone Hornet to reach double digits. Mansfield fell behind by 10 points after one quarter and never recovered. Wager got off to a strong start with seven in the first and Bridget Hanley added a three-pointer. Kara Santos and Ella Palanza each scored four points in the second, as the Hornets cut the deficit to 34-25 at halftime. Wager scored 10 points in the third, but the Tigers added two more points to their lead and went into the fourth up by double digits. Wager hit an early free throw to seal her career milestone and scored nine points in the quarter. She buried four three-pointers in the game. Santos finished with seven points, Hanley added six, and Palanza chipped in with five.

#12 Springfield Central 61 vs. #21 Attleboro, 20 – FinalIt was a rough night for the Bombardiers against one of the top teams in the state. The Bombardiers scored no more than seven points in a quarter, including just two points in the fourth. Kayla Goldrick buried three shots from beyond the arc and scored half of Attleboro’s points in the game. Vanessa Ellis and Sarah Maher each had baskets in the first, Lily Routhier and Lily Didick each hit shots in the third, and Tia Williamson had the team’s lone bucket in the final quarter.

#15 Franklin, 62 vs. #18 Newton South, 50 – Final

#15 Billerica, 69 vs. #18 Oliver Ames, 59 – FinalBillerica caught fire from three, knocking down 10 triples as a team, and OA was unable to overcome that hot shooting, despite fighting all the way to the end. Billerica scored 40 points in the first half and jumped out to an 18-point lead. OA scored 15 in the third quarter, but Billerica continued to fire away from deep and added another seven points to its lead. Kamryn Derba responded with a big fourth quarter, hitting four threes in the quarter and scoring 15 of her team-high 25. Although OA outscored the hosts 18-7 in the fourth, it wasn’t enough to come all the way back. Avery Gamble scored 11 points, making 11-of-15 free throws. Kaydance Derba hit a pair of threes in the second and finished with eight points and Maddie Homer added five points, all in the first half.

#32 Acton-Boxboro, 62 vs. #33 King Philip, 57 – FinalThe Warriors tried to rally in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Colonials 19-11 over the final eight minutes, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback in a tough road playoff opener. Emily Sawyer scored a team-high 29 points in the loss, including 13 points in the fourth, as KP tried to rally. A-B jumped out to a six-point lead in the first and the second quarter was even, as A-B went into the locker room ahead 29-23. Both teams caught fire offensively in the third quarter, combining for 37 points, but it was the home team that extended its lead to double digits heading to the fourth. Leah Santoro hit a pair of threes (her only points of the night) and Sawyer and Jordan Bennett each scored five in the third for the Warriors. Those were also Bennett’s only points of the game. In the fourth quarter, KP continued to get the ball into the paint. Sawyer had six made baskets in the quarter and had 13 of the team’s 19. Jackie Bonner knocked down her second three of the game, scoring four of her seven points in the fourth.

#12 Franklin, 11 vs. #21 Andover, 2 – FinalIt was an offensive explosion for the Panthers in an 11-2 rout of visiting Andover in a Division 1 Round of 32 matchup. Franklin lit the lamp three times in the first period, including a pair of shorthanded goals from junior Ben Paterson, and one from sophomore Jack Wernig to establish a big lead. The goals kept coming in the second period, including three in the first five minutes of the period. Carmen Ianuzzi scored the first goal and Ryan Sicchio followed just seconds later to push the lead to 5-0. Dan Daley extended the lead to 6-0 with 10:45 to play in the period, and Dylan McEvoy and Carter Balducci each added one goal apiece as Franklin’s lead grew to 8-0 through two periods. Daley, McEvoy, and senior Lucas Sheehan added goals in the third period. Franklin advances to the Round of 16 to play #5 Marshfield, with a date and time to be announced.
