AVA REDDING

MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL
CLASS OF 2027

Ava Redding is a junior at Mansfield High School who exemplifies the values of leadership, resilience, and community engagement both in the classroom and as a student-athlete. A dedicated honors student with a weighted 4.0 GPA, Ava is a member of the National Honor Society and actively participates in several school leadership and wellness initiatives. Through her involvement in Active Minds, the MPS Health and Wellness Council, the Student Voice Summit, and Best Buddies, she consistently works to promote mental health awareness, inclusivity, and student advocacy across her school community.

As Vice President of Active Minds, Ava helps lead student-driven mental health initiatives, including awareness events and conference participation. She also represents Mansfield High School in the Student Voice Summit, contributing thoughtful insight to discussions on improving school culture. Ava was selected for the Hockomock LEAP program as a representative of the district’s most promising young leaders, recognizing her commitment to service, communication, and teamwork.

Ava’s leadership is equally evident in athletics. A year-round gymnast, she serves as a role model on the Mansfield High School gymnastics team and as a coach at O’Leary’s Gymnastics. She works closely with young athletes, teaching foundational skills, building confidence, and creating a positive training environment. Her ability to motivate others is strengthened by her own experiences, most notably overcoming a significant knee injury that sidelined her for over two months. Despite being unable to compete, Ava remained fully engaged with her team by supporting teammates, assisting coaches, and modeling perseverance. This period shaped her leadership style, reinforcing her belief in encouragement, accountability, and leading through example.

Her efforts have earned recognition beyond her school, including Hockomock League All-Star honors (2023, 2024) and Boston Globe All-Scholastic selection (2023). Her teachers and coaches describe her as dedicated, uplifting, and deeply team-centered, someone who consistently places the success and well-being of others ahead of her own achievements.

Outside of athletics, Ava works as a gymnastics coach and as an ice cream scooper at Flannel Cow Creamery, balancing academics, leadership roles, and employment with maturity and discipline.

Ava is passionate about creating inclusive, positive team cultures and contributing to meaningful change within her community. She is honored to be part of the Hockomock LEAP Program and looks forward to further developing her leadership skills while continuing to support and uplift those around her.
