Prakrit Iyer

Canton HIGH SCHOOL
CLASS OF 2027

Prakrit Iyer is a student leader, athlete, and community builder from Canton High School, known for his initiative, compassion, and drive to create meaningful impact. A founding officer of Galaxy Nonprofit, Prakrit has worked to make STEM learning accessible and exciting for elementary school students by organizing engaging hands-on science workshops and game nights.

His leadership extends beyond the classroom. As a three-time varsity wrestler and JV soccer captain, he models perseverance and teamwork while mentoring younger athletes. He has also taken the initiative to advocate for the creation of a Youth Math Readiness program in his town.

Balancing academics with service and leadership, Prakrit currently serves as a member of various clubs and as a representative on Student Council, among other roles. Through these positions, he has led fundraisers, community events, and outreach efforts that strengthen school culture while encouraging inclusivity and collaboration.

His experiences across diverse settings, from teaching STEM to younger students to leading peers in competitive clubs, have shaped his belief that leadership is not about control, but about inspiring others to grow alongside you.

Outside of school, Prakrit works three jobs, gaining experiences that have deepened his empathy, strengthened his communication skills, and refined his ability to adapt to any environment.

Whether guiding a student through a challenge or motivating a teammate during a tough match, Prakrit leads with authenticity and integrity. His coach, Nick Matt, describes him as “a leader at heart,” someone who embodies respect, grit, and accountability both on and off the mat.

Through his participation in the Hockomock LEAP Leadership Program, Prakrit hopes to continue developing his leadership voice, learning from others’ perspectives, and carrying forward the mindset that has defined his journey so far: that strength lies not in perfection, but in perseverance and purpose.
