Sharon senior Feining Huang has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Jan. 25 through Jan. 31. Huang is the 21st athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year and the seventh in the winter season.
Huang won three titles (two individual) and a second place during Saturday morning’s Hockomock Girls Swim Championships held at Milford High. Huang broke a pair of meet records and helped the Eagles take second overall behind Kelley-Rex champion Franklin with 258 points.
“Feining has the unique ability to block out all other distractions and completely focus on the task at hand,” said Sharon head coach Sara Barbera. “Feining is a once in a lifetime swimmer for me to coach.”
In her first race of the day, Huang broke the meet record in the 200-yard free (previously held by Attleboro star Zuri Ferguson) with a time of 1:53.83. She was nearly nine seconds faster than the second-place swimmer. Huang did it again in the 100-yard fly, setting a meet record with a time of 56.55, which was more than four seconds faster than the competition. In the 200-free relay, Huang swam the anchor leg and pulled away from the pack to help the Sharon team (including Cora Shea, Wilma Zeng, and Daisy Ryu) take first with a time of 1:48.24, winning by more than three seconds.
Huang, who is committed to swim at Bryant University next year, had a strong swim in the 400-yard free relay too, giving Sharon an early lead, but Franklin would come back to take first. The Eagles finished in a time of 3:52.40, just a second back. She now holds three records at the league meet, tying her with Ferguson for the most individual records by a female swimmer (Ferguson also holds a record as part of Attleboro’s 2025 200-yard Medley Relay team).
