Girls Soccer
Foxboro, 5 @ Sharon, 0 – Final – Foxboro came out firing on all cylinders, scoring five goals in the first half to earn two points on the road. Jordyn Collins set the tone inside the opening minute, taking a pass from Lizzy Davis and scoring to put the visitors ahead. Kenzi Fraser, Kailee McCabe, Katie Hunter, and Katelyn Mollica (from Kaitryn Franchino) all scored once for the Warriors.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Braintree, 0 – Final – North Attleboro bounced back from a loss to Foxboro with a solid non-league road win. Ashlyn Gaulin scored the game’s only goal when she followed up her own shot that had caromed off the crossbar and she tapped in the rebound. North coach William Wallace praised the play of Kayla Pasquel, Haley Ferrin, Lydia Santos, and Bri Westcott in the middle of the field. Emma Noreck earned the clean sheet in goal.

Stoughton, 0 vs. Norwood, 3 – Final

Field Hockey
Franklin, 4 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Cassi Ronan set up a pair of goals in the first half and the Panthers scored two more in the second half to beat Attleboro. Ronan assisted on Regan Paterson’s goal that put the Panthers up 1-0, and then set up Victoria Quinn as Franklin took a 2-0 lead into half. Sara Carney and Stephanie Bell each scored unassisted goals in the second half and Anna Jardine made four saves in goal for the shutout.

Canton, 3 @ Milford, 0 – Final

Foxboro, 4 @ North Attleboro, 0 – Final

King Philip, 6 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final – Meghan MacDonald, Alli Meehan, and Nicole Connor all scored in the first half, helping the Warriors build a 3-0 lead that it never relinquished in a win over Oliver Ames. Abby Nixon had an assist on MacDonald’s opening goal with 12:49 left in the first half. Meehan set Connor up with 4:41 left in the half, and then switched roles for a 4-0 lead less than three minutes into the second. Meehan finished with three goals and an assist and sophomore Olivia Kulesza added a late goal for KP. Oliver Ames sophomore Brynna Courneen scored her first goal of the season off a penalty corner in the second half.

Mansfield, 0 @ Taunton 0 – Final – Taunton goalie Emma Sheehan made 10 saves to help keep the contest equal.

Stoughton, 2 @ Sharon, 0 – Final – Allie Howe and Haley Nelson each scored once in the second half to lead the Black Knights to a win on the road at Sharon.

Volleyball
Canton, 3 @ Milford, 1 – Final – After splitting the first two sets, Canton won a close third game and went on to finish the match with a 3-1 victory (25-15, 18-25, 25-23, 25-16). Erin Devine has a great night for the Bulldogs, finishing with 12 kills and six blocks. Taylor Harris added nine kills, two blocks and 12 digs, Nicole Brown continued to impress with 22 assists, five kills, three aces and 11 digs, and Emily Morrison and Megan McDonough (five aces) combined for 19 digs.

Foxboro, 1 @ North Attleboro, 3 – Final

King Philip, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – Final – King Philip went on the road and recorded a 3-0 sweep (25-7, 25-21, 25-20) against Oliver Ames. KP middles Catherine Waldeck (12 kills, two blocks) and Nicole Coughlan (seven kills, five blocks, two aces) both had strong games for the Warriors while, Kat Kmetz added 12 digs, two kills, and a pair of aces, and Shayla Weitzman finished with 14 digs, four aces, and 13 service points. For Oliver Ames, senior Jackie Raymond had eight aces, senior Sadie Homer finished with 36 digs, and junior Allie Kemp had 16 assists.

Mansfield, 3 @ Taunton, 2 – Final – Mansfield fell behind 2-1 but battled back to win the fourth set, and went on to win the decisive fifth set for a win over Taunton (16-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-17, 15-7). For Mansfield, Greenly Kelly had nine kills, four blocks and 14 service points, Sam Sternberg added 15 digs and 10 service points, Olivia McGrath had a nice game with 13 kills and 10 service points, and Katie Dardinski chipped in with nine digs and 13 service points.

Foxboro, 173 @ Taunton, 174 – Final

Foxboro, 173 @ Oliver Ames, 153 – Final – Oliver Ames picked a pair of wins, including a divisional victory, by beating Foxboro and Taunton in a tri-match at Pine Oaks. Nolan Donze paced Oliver Ames with a 36, Liam Barry shot 38, Ryan Bock carded a round of 39, and Justin Shapiro finished with a 40.

Taunton, 174 @ Oliver Ames, 153 – Final

Franklin, 163 vs. Medway, 178 – Final – Franklin defended its home course against non-league foe Medway on Friday afternoon. Quinten Faro paced the Panthers with a team-low round of 40 while Matt D’Errico and Jack Paterson each shot a 41.

North Attleboro, 191 @ Sharon, 160 – Final – Ethan Skelly shot a 37 and Corey Carter shot a 38 to Sharon to a win at the Cape Club of Sharon. Max Brody carded a 41 and Andrew Glaser shot 44 to contribute to the win.

Attleboro, 2 @ Foxboro, 8 – Final – Foxboro junior Dylan Barreira stayed red hot, scoring six goals for the second straight game to lead the Warriors to a big win at home. Barreira scored three goals in each half, giving the hosts a 3-1 edge at the break. Nic Beigel (assist) and Chris Amiable each scored once while Matt Garcia had two assists and Will Morrison had one helper.

Mansfield, 0 @ Canton, 0 – Final – Both Canton and Mansfield had a handful of corners and long throw in chances but neither side could break the stalemate. Mansfield goalie Anthony Salisbury made a terrific one-handed diving save in the 54th minute to rob Griffin Roach of a goal from just outside the area. On the ensuing corner, Simon Cruz had a big on goal denied by defender Matt O’Donnell, who was positioned at the near post. Alejandro Correal had a strong game in net for the Bulldogs.

Franklin, 0 @ North Attleboro, 0 – Final

King Philip, 7 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – King Philip raced out to a 3-1 lead at halftime and added four more goals in the second half to pick up two points on the road. KP scored three goals inside the first 11 minutes with sophomore Evan McEvoy (from Zac White) scoring the opening strike and assisting on Ian Zimmerman’s goal two minutes later. Tony Bozza mad 3-0 before Stoughton freshman Mateo Eschleman converted a long throw-in from Ikenna Dike to get on the board. In the second half, McEvoy (from John Cullen) and Cam Lawrence (from Bozza) scored in the first four minutes to make it 6-1. Senior Justin Willson added two more goals on assists from Gavon Fox and Andrew Thompson.

Taunton, 0 @ Milford, 4 – Final – Milford exploded for three goals in the second half to earn a convincing win over visiting Taunton. Omar Lema scored his second goal in as many games just two minutes in to give the Hawks an early lead. But Milford didn’t add onto it until the second half. Jordan Borges made it 2-0 just minutes into the second half on an assist from Walisson de Oliveira. Borges then returned the favor, setting de Oliveira up to a pair of goals to give the Hawks a 4-0 win.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ Sharon, 2 – Final – Sharon took a very early lead but had to come up with a late equalizer in the first half to earn a point against visiting Oliver Ames. Isaiah Stessman put the Eagles up less than two minutes in, converting a cross from Brian Higgins to make it 1-0. OA capitalized on an Eagle miscue as Jimmy Keane pounced on a loose ball and tied it for OA. The Tigers then took a lead as sophomore Colin Milliken blasted a shot from atop the 18 to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage. With five seconds left in the first half, Higgins used a nice individual effort to get by the defense and scored to make it 2-2.

Girls Soccer
Foxboro, 3 @ Attleboro, 2 – Final – Attleboro took an early led but Foxboro battled back to get the advantage and earn two points. After Attleboro took a 1-0 lead, Jordyn Collins equalized for Foxboro, converting an assist from Kenzi Fraser. Freshman Kailee McCabe scored on a penalty kick midway through the first half, and then scored again in the second half on a pass from Lizzy Davis.

Canton, 0 @ Mansfield, 4 – Final – Maria Sevastos scored twice and assisted on another as Mansfield stayed unbeaten with a four-goal flurry in the first half against Canton. Steph Kemp and Cassidy McMahon each scored goals for the Hornets and McMahon added an assist as well. Emily Vigeant assisted on a pair of goals in the win.

North Attleboro, 0 @ Franklin, 2 – Final – Stella Regan had a pair of goals in the first half, assisted by Calen Frongillo and Hailey Toolin, to lead the Panthers to a big cross-over win. Breanna Atwood made eight saves to preserve the clean sheet for Franklin. Emma Noreck made six saves for the Rocketeers.

Sharon, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – Final – Senior Samantha Gilgan, junior Lauren Picanzi, and senior Daniella Ferrini each scored as Oliver Ames notched a win at home over Sharon.

Stoughton, 1 @ King Philip, 8 – Final – Cara Perry scored for the Black Knights, finding the back of the net off a cross by Mackenzie Manning.

Milford, 2 @ Taunton, 0 – Final

Stoughton, 2 @ Brockton, 0 – Final – Haley Nelson and Allie Howe each cored once as Stoughton went on the road and beat the Boxers of Brockton High. Kayla Laboy recorded the shutout in goal for the Black Knights.

Golf
Stoughton, 184 @ Canton, 147 – Final – Canton’s Tommy Dimock shot a match-low round of 35, earning medalist honors while helping the Bulldogs net their lowest score of the season. Mike Gobbi and Mike Leonetti each shot 37 while Thomas Singleton carded a 38. Josh Hough led Stoughton with a 42 and Luke Bainton shot 44.

Mansfield, 174 @ Franklin, 166 – Final – Franklin notched its second straight win over a division foe, this time knocking off Mansfield at Franklin Country Club. Quinten Faro was the match medalist after carding a low round of 38. Jack Paterson added a 40 for the Panthers while Ryan Dow led Mansfield with a round of 40.

Taunton @ Oliver Ames – Postponed to time/date TBD.

Milford, 181 @ Sharon, 161 – Final – Ethan Skelly earned medalist honors after shooting a 37 at the Cape Club of Sharon, leading the Eagles to a win over Milford. Andrew Glaser and Nathan Daley each shot 41 for Sharon while Corey Carter carded a round of 42. Riley Lynch led Milford with a 39.

Wednesday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 09/05/18


Today’s games are listed below.

Boys Soccer
Canton, 4 vs. Marshfield, 3 – Final – Canton scored three goals over the final 25 minutes to erase a deficit to take all two points in its season opener. Trailing 2-0 at half, Paolo Ruggeri got the Dogs on the board but Marshfield extended its lead to 3-1. Griffin Roach brought Canton within 3-2 with 21 minutes left and then tied the game with his second goal with six minutes left. Senior Paul Corcoran scored the game-winning inside the final two minutes for Canton.

Foxboro, 2 @ Mansfield, 3 – Final – Mansfield raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first 15 minutes before Foxboro responded with two straight goals in a 10 minute span. Luke Savoie recorded a hat trick for Mansfield; putting the hosts up 1-0 on a free kick from 30-yards out, finishing up a rebound off a shot from freshman Dylan Buchanan and then scoring the game-winner in the 70th minute off a corner kick from Connor Eames. Foxboro’s Shane VandenBoom made it 2-1 in the 15th minute and Dylan Barreira tied in the 25th when his free kick deflected in off a defender. Junior Anthony Salisbury had a strong game in net for the Hornets.

Franklin, 1 vs. Xaverian, 0 – Final – Franklin senior Eathan Bowen scored midway through the second half to help the Panthers open the season with a win over Xaverian. Nick Barry set Bowen up with a nice pass and Bowen buried his chance.

King Philip, 0 @ Bishop Feehan, 2 – Final

Girls Soccer
Mansfield, 1 @ Foxboro, 1 – Final – Mansfield took the lead halfway through the second half but a young Foxboro team was able to find the equalizer 10 minutes later as the teams finished level in the season opener. Katie Galvin played a nice ball behind the defense that allowed Steph Kemp to run onto and she placed her shot into the far corner. Foxboro freshman Kailee McCabe had a great individual effort to tie the game. McCabe intercepted a pass out of the back, got past a defender, had her first shot saved by stayed with the rebound and tucked in the second chance.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ Brockton, 1 – Final – Abby Hodges and freshmen Allison Evin and Camryn O’Connor scored the goals for OA to win its season opener. OA coach Britt Sellmayer also said that seniors Anna Tempestoso and Brianna Gibson played well in the win.

King Philip, 0 @ Bishop Feehan, 0 – Final – KP coach Gary Pichel called it a “back and forth game” and the Warriors hit the crossbar several times but couldn’t find the breakthrough. Pichel said that goalie Taylor Butler played well with some critical saves.

Foxboro, 169 @ Mansfield, 158 – Final – Ryan Dow shot a medalist round of 35 to pace the Hornets to their second win in as many days. Joe Gormley added a 40 for Mansfield, while Jake DiSangro shot a 41 and Jason See a 42 in the victory.

Franklin, 6.5 @ Nipmuc, 2.5 – Final – Jake Blaney, Jack Paterson, Pat Dolan, and Gerard Collins all won their individual matches to lift Franklin to a season-opening win.

Attleboro, 172 @ Stoughton, 178 – Final – Stoughton’s Luke Bainton and Attleboro’s Jack Handy tied for the low round of the day, each shooting a 42 at Easton Country Club. The Bombardiers got rounds of 43 from Jake Moulton and Brendan Raymond and a 44 from Ethan Johnson. Josh Hough and Nick Szum each shot a 45 for the Black Knights.

Sharon, 161 @ Milford, 175 – Final – Ethan Kelly and Andrew Glaser shot the low rounds of the day for the Eagles, both carding a 38 to help Sharon pull out the win.

Attleboro, 2 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – Nick Lawrence scored a pair of goals for the Bombardiers, with assists coming from Will Halben and Harry Lancaster. Stoughton’s Noah Schulze scored the lone goal for the Black Knights.

King Philip, 1 @ Foxboro, 0 – Final – KP junior Connor Mullins won possession at midfield, got forward and played a through ball, setting up Tyler Mann for the lone goal of the game in the 67th minute to lift the Warriors to the win.

Stoughton, 0 @ Attleboro, 2 – Final – Rebekah Entwistle and Hannah Meier scored the goals for the Bombardiers. Stoughton head coach Tara Daniels said Emma Harrington played outstanding in net for the Black Knights.

Foxboro, 3 @ King Philip, 5 – Final – Freshman Avery Snead scored two goals for KP. Senior Rachel Hogan and freshman Chloe Layne each had a goal and two assists and senior Maddie Smith added a goal and an assist for the Warriors.

North Attleboro, 6 @ Taunton, 1 – Final – Haley Guertin scored two goals and had two assists to lead the Rocketeers. Sophomore Ashlyn Gaulin chipped in with a pair of goals and Felicity Monfils and Leah Jette each scored one. Kayla Pasquel and Rachel Labonte had assists for North.

Milford, 0 @ Franklin, 4 – Final – Miranda Smith scored a pair of goals for the Panthers and Nadia Havens recorded a goal and an assist. Halle Atkinson also had a goal for Franklin, while Ellie Teixeira, Abigail Gipson, and Emily Mastaj had assists. Ashleigh Starks played well in midfield for the Hawks, according to head coach Jay Mastaj.

Stoughton, 215 @ Foxboro, 179 – Final

King Philip, 174 @ Mansfield, 169 – Final – Jason Hindman shot a one under par 35 at Norton Country Club to lead the Hornets. Junior Brendan Loomer shot a 44 while David Norris and Madison Haughey each shot 45. Sebastian Ladoulis led King Philip with a 41.

Oliver Ames, 156 @ Taunton, 194 – Final – The Tigers of Oliver Ames had a consistent day at Segregansett Country Club. Ryan McGarry, Mark Bissonette, Nick Lombardi and Thomas Walsh all tied for the match medalist, with each shooting 39 on the day. Justin Proto led Taunton with a 43.

Milford, 167 @ Sharon, 173 – Final – Ryan Tomaso was the match medalist, shooting 39 at Spring Valley. Anthony Arcudi added a 42 for the Scarlet Hawks. Andrew Glaser led the way for Sharon, carding a 40.

King Philip, 46 @ Attleboro, 19 – Final

Sharon, 15 @ Foxboro, 50 – Final – Foxboro was led by by Brendan Foley (20:37), followed by Matt Kelly (20:40), Mike Lite (21:01), Tyler Donovan (21:13), Jacob Sylvestre (21:14) and Paxton Downs (21:39).

Mansfield, 19 @ Taunton, 44 – Final – Mansfield had seven of the top eight finishes and eight of the top 10 in the win over Taunton. Kalin Petrov won the race in a time of 17:07 while Taunton’s Dylan Lynch was second at 17:17. Mansfield’s Collin Rice (17:56), Patrick Heavey (17:56), Nick Rispoli (18:11), Arjun Sonti (18:12), Paxton Howard (18:17) and Cullen Lancaster (18″49) finished third through eighth respectively.

Oliver Ames, 25 @ Franklin, 30 – Final – Oliver Ames secured three of the top five spots to edge out the Panthers. OA’s Brent Schwartz won in 17:31 while Zane Reservitz finished fourth in 18:03 and Colin Herschlag was fifth at 18:05. Franklin’s Everett Henderson finished in second at 17:44 and Mike Hagen was third at 17:49.

King Philip, 15 @ Attleboro, 46 – Final – King Philip had the top five finishes in the race, cruising to a win on the road. Nina Sitarski won the race with Erin Quinn, Lucy Hamilton, Leia Quinn and Erica Layna rounding out the top five for the Warriors. Ellen Marshall finished six and Victoria Pike was seventh to lead Attleboro.

Sharon, 23 @ Foxboro, 38 – Final – Foxboro sophomore Lindsey Nelson led the way for Foxboro, finishing second in 21:36 while freshman Abby Hassman finished third overall in 21:47.

Mansfield @ Taunton, 3:45

Oliver Ames, 32 @ Franklin, 23 – Final – Franklin grabbed the top three finishes in the meet, securing the win over Oliver Ames. Nicole Clermont won the race in 19:58 with Kate Hartnett finishing second in 21:22 and Ella Gutkowski rounding out the top three in 21:51. Liz Peckham, Anna Loewald, Caroline McCarthy, and Jordan Rainville finished in the fourth through seventh places for OA.
