2025 Hockomock League Girls Tennis Preview
Franklin rolled to its first-ever league title in girls tennis last spring. The Panthers have the majority of their lineup back in search of another Kelley-Rex title but have some new competition this spring.
With the new league alignment, which is based on enrollment, Sharon is now in the Kelley-Rex division. The Eagles have won three straight Davenport titles and eight of the last nine.
This has the making of one of the best Kelley-Rex division title races for girls tennis we’ve seen in some time. Junior Gabby Cura showed great potential at first singles last year with an 8-3 record and is back at the top of the ladder for the Panthers this season. Senior captain Izzy Trull is back healthy after dealing with an injury for most of last season and junior Isabelle Simino, who went 7-2 last year, completes the singles lineup. It’s a talented trio that will give Franklin an edge on the majority of the competition.
“I have high hopes for this year after winning the first-ever Hock Championship in Franklin history last season and the goal is to repeat,” said Franklin head coach Bob Pingeton. “We know it’s going to be tougher with Sharon now in the Kelley-Rex but we have an experienced group of confident players led by a solid senior core. I’m extremely impressed with the talent coming in on the freshman side.”
Senior captains Brooke Daniels and Sydney Tolonen are two-time Hockomock all stars and are one of the best doubles teams in the region. Over the last two seasons, Daniels and Tolonen have posted an impressive 29-4 record and have helped clinch a lot of team wins for the Panthers. Junior Avalon Thomes went 9-4 last season and is a candidate for second doubles. Freshman Anna Powers has had a strong preseason and earned the nod alongside Thomes at second doubles but the Panthers have a deep team including seniors Katie Yelle and Ashmita Boopathy as well as freshmen Julianne Love, Poojan Gaur, Genevieve Camire who will all compete for a spot in the lineup.
Sharon will be tough to beat once again this year. On top of a strong core of returning players, the Eagles have an influx of new talent. Senior Alina Hou posted an impressive 16-1 record while playing at second and third singles last year and will make the move into the top spot on the ladder this spring. Freshman Kat Budovalcev has impressed early on in the season and will compete at second singles while junior Lila Hogan completes the singles lineup at third singles. The Eagles have a strong group of veterans in doubles with Sydney Weiner, Olivia Landstein, Heather Hou, and Grace Zhong all back this spring after playing plenty of varsity matches last year. Raina Rakhra, Riya Sreeram, Reva Sankhla, Kerong Liang, Lillia Precourt, Anushka Kaitkay, Abigail Lonergan, and Nellie Alperovich all provide the Eagles with good depth options while newcomers sophomore Ella Chen and freshmen Anya Shukla, Riley Garte, Hanae Houlihan and Katie Eisenstadt will look to make an instant impact.
While the two defending division champs are the two favorites for the Kelley-Rex, there are some other teams eager to make their mark. King Philip has a blend of returners and newcomers in its lineup this spring. While the Warriors incorporate some of the new faces, they’ll lean heavily on their four returning starters from last year.
Senior Jaelyn Dang is coming off a very strong season at second singles and will be moving into the top spot on the ladder for the Warriors this spring. Senior co-captain Addison Lewis will make the switch from doubles to singles this year and look to challenge Dang for the first singles spot in the lineup. Senior co-captain Alex Pauline and senior Avery Reda are in the mix for the third singles spot and the Warriors will have a strong leader in doubles as the other will likely anchor first doubles. Senior Veda Gogineni and sophomores Rose Loughlin, Courtney Lewis, and Natalie Collins will also be in the mix for that third singles spot and time in doubles action.
Juniors Taylor Gabriella and Rivya Shrivastava, senior Sniggy Epuri, and sophomore Alexandra Hickey give KP some needed depth and will look to push for time in the lineup.
“The Kelley-Rex is always a tough division, and King Philip is looking forward to seeing what our team can do this season with returning players anxious to step it up in their new spots and a group of sophomores who are starting to show some real potential,” said KP coaches Bob Goldberg and Kristen Schneider.
Both Attleboro and Taunton are dealing with a good amount of turnover from last season. The Bombardiers are only bringing back one varsity regular from last year’s team. But that has brought a lot of excitement to the program with plenty of opportunities for new players to step up. Senior captain Katie Lortos was an honorable mention all star last year and has competed as a doubles player for the past two years and will be a key leader in the lineup again. She will be joined in doubles action by classmate and fellow captain Lily Choquette, who has shown improvement each season. Senior Addie Shelton made an immediate impact when she joined the program last year and will be a top player for the Bombardiers this season, starting the year in the first singles spot.
“This is a powerful roster of players who are hungry to succeed and show the Hockomock League that Attleboro is able to compete at the highest levels,” said Attleboro head coach Bill Reilly. “We’re looking forward to an incredibly strong season and a bright future. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing who is going to step up and claim the top singles and doubles spots, because we have many excellent players and, so far, it seems like they’re all driven to achieve. That will only help to push each other even more as the season goes on.”
Juniors Alexa Frackelton and Alex Houle have both worked extremely hard over the past two seasons to crack the lineup and will have the chance to compete for Attleboro this season in singles action.
Taunton is in a similar position after graduating eight seniors. The Tigers have just one starter back in the mix in sophomore Ava Olivadesa, who split time between singles and doubles action last year as a freshman. Olivadesa finished the year with a 13-6 overall record and has been impressive so far this year, earning the start at first singles. Senior Chrisha Charles-Marc, who played in a handful of matches last year for the Tigers, and classmate Natalie Duncan will be key leaders this spring and will both compete for a spot in the lineup. Juniors Meaghan Cunningham, Mia Mendes, and Alexa Rinehart are all in the mix for both singles and doubles roles for the Tigers, sophomores Nora McDonough and Isabella Castro are competing well in the preseason and could crack the doubles lineup, and eighth grader Molly Abbott has played well in some early season challenge matchups and broke into the lineup in Taunton’s league opener against Foxboro.
“This is a big rebuilding year for us,” said Taunton head coach Alisha Silva. “Losing so many seniors leaves a lot of opportunity for players to step up into the lineup this year. We are a younger team, but they all work hard and want to be out there playing tennis. Our captain, Chrisha Charles-Marc is a great leader and will help guide our younger players this season as it’s many of their first times playing at the varsity level. Ava Olivadesa has worked hard in the offseason and I’m excited to see her playing at a high level this season.”
Over in Milford, there are a lot of familiar faces back. In fact, the entire starting lineup returns as the Hawks look to have an improved season. There’s a lot of experience in the lineup too with many seniors including captains Mallory Brickley and Ava Merrill, who will be battling for the first singles spot, and captain Audrey Brannigan, who will slot into third singles. All three have plenty of varsity experience in singles action and that should help the Hawks compete this year.
Juniors Chloe Murdock and Sam DeNegris return to handle first doubles duties for the second straight spring while seniors Lillian Bogonis and Riley Donovan along with sophomore Catie Delaney are competing for time at second doubles.
With Sharon’s departure from the Davenport, there is an opportunity for a new division champion. Since the league split, only Sharon and Foxboro have won the division title.
Foxboro and first-year head coach Beverly Souaiden will have to incorporate some new faces into the lineup this year after graduating nine players from last year’s squad. There’s plenty of interest in the program with nearly 30 players trying out for the squad. With six total returners from last year, Foxboro will look for its veteran players to lead the way.
The top of the lineup with feature some familiar faces. Senior Analise Jia, who was a league honorable mention selection as a sophomore, is back at the top of the ladder at first singles while sophomore Siya Maknecha returns to compete at second singles. Junior Arianna Urman was a staple in doubles action last season but, after a strong offseason which resulted in an improved serve, will have the court to herself this spring as she moves to singles action. Senior Audrey Paolino is back at first doubles and will team up with junior Veronica Souaiden, who picked up some key experience at second doubles last year. There’s been some good competition for time at second doubles including from returning junior Samantha McAuliffe.
“All my girls have passion and grit, and I am confident in their ability to learn and grow as players, despite their scores on the court,” Souaiden said. “We are all looking forward to a fun and exciting season!”
North Attleboro is coming off a second place finish in the Kelley-Rex division and is off to a strong start this year. The Rocketeers, who have six K-R division titles, will be a top contender for their first Davenport crown this spring. Senior Megan Atwood is a two-time Hockomock all star and will be in the mix for top singles players in the league this year. Seniors Audrey Noreck and Elizabeth Silva give the Rocketeers an experienced singles lineup in search of a Davenport crown. In doubles action, seniors Grace Manning and Jayla Stone have a lot of varsity experience to bring to the table while seniors Kaeleigh Folan, Elizabeth Fong, and Anshi Agrawal are all in the mix for time at second doubles.
“We’re optimistic for a successful season,” said first-year North Attleboro head coach Armindo Rocha. “Our strong core of returning players, including Meagan, Audrey, and Elizabeth, will be key to our singles lineup, while our doubles teams have shown great teamwork and chemistry. We’re looking forward to seeing how our younger players develop and push for spots in the lineup as the season progresses.”
One of the other top singles players in the league is the reigning Hockomock League MVP and three-time all star Hannah Farber. This will be Farber’s fourth year as the first singles player for Oliver Ames, who is another strong candidate for the Davenport crown – which would be the program’s first-ever title. Farber has improved each season and went 16-0 last year against the best competition in the league. Senior Stella Zachos is another four-year player for the Tigers who will compete in singles action after winning eight matches last year. Sophomore Kathryn Weiler is another returner for the Tigers that played at third singles last year but will be in the mix for second singles this spring.
Seniors Emily Beaulieu, Abby Borden, and Ava Barth all have a good amount of doubles experience so that could be a big strength for the Tigers this season. Junior Ali Querzoli and sophomore Ada Visnauskis also competed in doubles for OA last year so there’s plenty of internal competition in the team that will bring out the best. Sophomore Hannah Le along with newcomers sophomore Mia Zachos and freshman Ellie Spillane have shown some promise early on in the season and could crack the lineup throughout the year.
“We are very excited about this coming tennis season,” said OA co-coaches Melissa Spillane and Danielle Erickson. “This is our 13th year as co-coaches, and we couldn’t be more proud of the girls on our team.”
Over in Canton, the Bulldogs will have a strong mix of returners and newcomers in the lineup this year. Senior Camila Cutter, a two-time league all star (2022, 2023), is coming off a very impressive season at second singles and will move back up the ladder to play at first singles. Junior Charlotte Powers will also move up to compete at second singles this season while classmate Victoria Vinh will slot in at third singles. The team of senior Jess Hooton and junior Katherine Powers won more points for the Bulldogs than anyone else last year while competing at second doubles, going 10-4 on the year, and this season will take a step up to play at first doubles against some of the top teams in the league. Seniors Lana Nguyen and Lydia Sithivong will slide in at second doubles.
“This season our team has a great mix of experienced players and talented newcomers,” said Canton head coach Myra Durham. “Our players have already been very focused and driven to improve every aspect of their game. Overall, it’s shaping up to be an exciting season, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the team steps up to the challenge.”
Neighboring Stoughton is in a similar position as Canton as a lot of players will take the next step on the ladder this spring. Junior Jacqueline Boutros played well at second singles for the Knights a year ago and is coming off a strong offseason. She will now move into the first singles spot, and senior captain Dhruvi Patel, who is a very consistent player, will move from third singles to second singles. Senior Jina Kim has experience in singles action and will look to use that this spring when she slides up from doubles to third singles. Senior captain Charlotte Garcia-Ziegler and junior Olivia Henderson return as Stoughton’s first doubles team after a successful campaign in 2024 that resulted in seven wins while going against some of the top teams in the league. Senior Emma Byrne and junior Makaila Graffeo have shown significant improvement since last season and will start the season as the Knights’ second doubles tandem.
“With a mix of seasoned veterans and eight promising newcomers, the team is focused on surpassing last season’s accomplishments,” said Stoughton head coach Patty Bangs.

Stoughton, 0 @ Canton, 1 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Hayden Rose spun a gem, firing Canton to an important division win. Rose went the distance, pitching around five walks and allowing just one hit. He struck out 11 batters, including striking out the side in the seventh to seal the victory. Canton’s lone run came in the bottom of the fourth. Matt Hart drew a walk and came around to score on Matt Lesser’s triple over the right fielder’s head. Owen Lane also added three of Canton’s seven hits from the leadoff spot. Jeriel Cuello had Stoughton’s only hit. Black Knights starter Joseph Rush took the loss despite a strong start. He allowed just the one run and five hits in 3-1/3 innings. Hunter Malkin pitched 2-2/3 scoreless innings of relief with four Ks.

Mansfield, 10 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – Final – Mansfield scored three runs in the third and four more in the fourth to break things open and seal a win that keeps the Hornets close with Foxboro in the Davenport title hunt. Sam Martin (two doubles) and Wyatt Bolduc (double) each had two hits and drove in a pair of runs, scoring three runs combined as well for the Hornets. Mansfield also got a hit and three runs scored from Conner Zukowski, a hit and two RBI from Jake Maydak, and a hit and RBI from Luke Rogan. Maydak also picked up the win on the mound, throwing six innings with three earned runs, three walks, and two strikeouts. Rogan closed the game with a scoreless seventh. Harrison Fitzpatrick was 3-for-3 leading off for OA, scoring twice. Matt Lawson added two hits and a run, Patrick Finnerty had an RBI triple, and Jack Morley drove in one for the Tigers.
Milford, 10 @ North Attleboro, 3 – Final – Milford scored 10 unanswered to come from behind and pick up a big road win. Damien Carter starred at the plate and on the mound for the Hawks. He went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a triple, a homer, and five RBI. Carter also overcame allowing three runs in the first two innings to throw a complete game with eight strikeouts. Nick Koch had two hits and reached base five times, Evan Cornelius had a pair of hits, and Sean McGee had a hit and reached base four times for the visitors. Jordan Paradis had a hit, a run, and an RBI and Ayden Delaney had a hit and drove in two for North.
Softball
Canton, 5 @ Stoughton, 18 – Final (5 Inn.) – Canton scored four runs in the second and added a fifth in the third to take early control of Friday’s divisional matchup, but the Black Knights put together a remarkable rally to pull out the win. Stoughton scored nine runs in the fourth and then added nine more in the fifth to seal the victory. The hosts had 14 hits as a team. Freshman Julia Monaghan had three hits to lead the way, scoring once and driving in a pair. Kerry Driscoll drove in four with a pair of hits. Julie Powers (three runs and two RBI), Anna Hobbs (three runs and three RBI), and Alyssa Edwards (two runs and an RBI) all had two hits apiece. Camryn Whitman scored twice and brought in another. Driscoll picked up the win in the circle, going the distance with no earned runs and a pair of strikeouts. Jess Wright scored once and drove in two for Canton, while Kailyn Durham drove in two, Chloe Guerschuny had two hits, and Laura Valkanas had a run and an RBI in the loss.
Sharon, 2 @ Foxboro, 9 – Final – Foxboro scored four times in the first and never looked back, picking up a win that keeps it in the running for the Davenport title. Ava Hill went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and two RBI. Emma Callahan was 3-for-4 and scored three times. Vittoria Cuscia had a pair of hits and drove in two. Cuscia picked up the win in the circle, giving up no earned runs and striking out five. Maddie Hu and freshman Annabel Gruss each had two hits for the Eagles. Manasa Josyula struck out seven in the loss.
Taunton, 13 @ Franklin, 0 – Final (5 Inn.) – Taunton pounded out 16 hits and had its fifth straight shutout to stay unbeaten. The Tigers broke things open with a six-run fourth inning. Kaysie DeMoura went 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in three. Bella Bourque also was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Kyleah Plumb (two runs, RBI), Ava Venturelli (two runs, two RBI, and a homer), and Mia Fernandes each had two hits. Brooke Aldrich tripled and drove in three and Hayley Krockta had a double, run scored and RBI. Sam Lincoln made the runs stand up with another strong outing in the circle. She struck out 11 in five innings and allowed just two hits. Sarah Boozang and Hailey Fales had the hits for the Panthers.
Oliver Ames, 5 @ Mansfield, 3 – Final – Oliver Ames plated four runs in the second inning to take the lead and then held off a late rally from the hosts, getting the final out with the tying run at the plate. Maddie Homer, Devon Morris (run), Katie Melendy (RBI), Katherine Farley, Erin Martin (RBI, run), Crystyliah Covel (double), and Paige Taylor each had a hit for the Tigers. Melendy earned the win in the circle, allowing three unearned runs on six hits and one walk, striking out five in a complete game. For Mansfield, Liv Madeira had a pair of hits and Callie Lake, Erin Radley, Molly Kucharski, Jill Koppy, Avery Lake, Dani Jameson, and Allie Koppy each added one hit.
North Attleboro, 4 @ Milford, 0 – Final – Kelly Colleran set a new program record (breaking the one she has set several times already this spring) by striking out 21 batters in seven innings. She also scored the winning run, drew a pair of walks, and stole a base. The big hit for the Rocketeers was a pinch-hit, two-run homer from freshman Grace Forman to break the game open in the fifth inning. Arianna McDavitt set the tone offensively with three hits and a run scored and Maryellen Charette had a pair of hits. Emma Hanwell had a double and a run scored, while Maddie Bailey, Molly Willey (RBI), and Lucy Palmer all had one hit. Milford had four hits as a team, with Olivia Baglione going 2-for-4 from the lead-off spot. Ava Baglione and Grace Bonina each had one hit. Maeve Driscoll allowed only two earned runs for the Hawks, striking out seven in the loss.

Boys Lacrosse
Canton, 17 @ Dedham, 14 – Final – Freshman Michael Thomas scored six times to lead the Bulldogs to their second win of the week. Jeffrey Chaput and Ethan Keleher each scored five times and AJ Thomas scored once for Canton. The Bulldogs did the bulk of the scoring in the first half, going into the break with a 12-8 lead.
Mansfield, 10 vs. Silver Lake, 11 – Final (OT) – Mansfield lost a tough game against a fellow tournament contender. Drew Sacco scored three goals and dished out an assist. Twice in the fourth quarter Sacco scored to tie the game and eventually force overtime. Cody Gordon added a hat trick and a pair of assists and Tommy Smith had two goals and an assist. Andrew DeGirolamo found the back of the net once for the Hornets. Ryan DeGirolamo made 18 saves in the loss.

King Philip, 8 vs. Weymouth, 13 – Final – KP lost a tough challenge against a fellow playoff contender. Makenzie McDevitt (one assist), Alyssa Legere, and Nicole McDonald all scored twice for the Warriors. Emily Campbell made 16 saves in the loss.
Mansfield, 3 @ Bishop Feehan, 11 – Final – Ella Palanza, Brooke Butler, and Stella Moore each scored once for the Hornets. Palanza added an assist.
Taunton, 7 @ North Attleboro, 15 – Final – For Taunton, Cali Melo found the back of the net four times, Caroline Vallarelli added a pair, and Hailey Tanguay scored once. Maddi Szala added an assist and Mel Jesus registered six saves.
Sharon, 5 @ Medway, 19 – Final
Boys Tennis
Canton, 4 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – A clean sweep in singles action highlighted Canton’ 4-1 decision on the road over neighboring Stoughton. Max Kupferman, Bharat Ramanathan, and Justin Ngan each won 6-0, 6-0 in singles action and the Bulldogs added another win at second doubles. The team of Drew Garrett and Matt Writer overcame a one-set deficit to emerge with a hard-fought 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win. Stoughton’s Anthony Maylack and Aadil Khond secured a 6-0, 6-3 win at first doubles.
Sharon, 5 @ Foxboro, 0 – Final – Sharon swept Foxboro and remained unbeaten in league play. The first singles match was the closest, as Jacob Slavsky pulled out a super tiebreaker win over Raj Jetty. Jetty took the opening set 6-4, but Slavsky came right back to win the second 6-0 and then took the tiebreaker 10-5. Matthew Lally (6-4, 6-1) and Alex Budovalcev (6-1, 6-1) both won in straight sets. The doubles matches were also straight set wins for the Eagles. Sava Kassev and Rithvik Neti won 6-0, 6-3 and Kevin Li and Hyojae Park won 6-2, 6-1.
Taunton, 1 @ Franklin, 4 – Final – Franklin earned a win that keeps it just one back in the win column in the battle for the Kelley-Rex title. Jay Gorgas won a 9-7 tiebreaker in the first set to get a straight sets win (7-6, 6-2). Tyler Fitzpatrick won the opening set 6-4, dropped the second by the same score, but then won the third set tiebreaker 11-9 to get the point. The doubles teams of Eric Tomaino and Ahan Shetty (6-4 7-5) and Andrew Amante and Aaron Ramaswamy (6-3, 6-3) each won in straight sets for the Panthers.
Oliver Ames, 0 @ Mansfield, 5 – Final – Mansfield swept the Tigers to hang around in the Davenport title race, just one back in the loss column of leader Sharon. The Hornets took the three singles matches in straight sets. Neema Khosravani (6-1, 6-2), Nikhil Nain (6-0, 6-4), and Iniyan Karruppusami (6-1, 6-3) earned three points for Mansfield. Freshmen Kingston Carey and Justin Curtis also won in straight sets at second doubles – 6-1, 6-1. The first doubles match was the lone point to require three sets. Josh and Jacob Weiner pulled out the win after dropping the first set to Nick Wagner and Brendan Teehan. The Weiners won 6-7, 6-3, 10-8.
North Attleboro, 4 @ Milford, 1 – Final – North pulled out a win that moves it back into a first-place tie with Attleboro atop the Kelley-Rex. Although the Rocketeers earned four points, it was a hard-fought battles, as four of the five individual matches went to three sets. At first singles, Brody Carter dropped the opening set against Tyler Andreotti 2-6, but bounced back to win the next two sets 6-1, 6-3. Darren Ling had a similar experience at second singles, dropping the first 2-6 against Connor Wong, but then winning 6-3, 6-2 to take the point. Milford’s Corey Rattray won the lone point for the Hawks. After splitting the first two sets with Quinn DiFiore (6-7, 6-4), Rattray won the super tiebreaker 10-6. The doubles matches were also close. Arnav Raghuvanshi and Aaryan Anjna needed three sets to hold off Sean Prevelige and Todd Ostertag 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. Neo Shum and Jeremy Carter won the only match that went in straight sets, taking second doubles 6-1, 6-2.
Girls Tennis

Foxboro, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – Final – Sharon clinched the Davenport title with the win over Foxboro. It is the seventh league title in the past eight seasons (two of those shared with Foxboro). Hailey Kornbluth continued to roll for the Warriors and earned the 6-2, 6-4 win at first singles. Sharon won the rest. Navya Shukla (6-0, 6-0) and Ale Aguilar (6-1, 6-2) won at straight sets to round out the singles matches. Abby Vilk and Jenny Sand (6-0, 6-1) and Olivia Landstein and Sophia Oh (6-0, 6-1) won the doubles matches while only dropping two games combined.
Franklin, 4 @ Taunton, 1 – Final – Franklin stayed in the running for the league title with a big road win. Izzy Trull (6-1, 6-0) and Brooke Taylor (6-0, 6-0) each won their singles matches in straight sets. Taunton also got a point at second singles with Ava Alves taking her match 6-4, 6-2. The Panthers swept doubles. Sydney Tolonen and Brooke Daniels won 6-4, 6-3 and Allison Bagley and Ava Davies won 6-3, 7-5.
Mansfield, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – Final – OA won the first and second singles matches without dropping a game and added a win at second doubles to secure the victory and a sweep of the season series with the Hornets. Hannah Farber and Olivia Querzoli breezed through their matches, both winning 6-0, 6-0. The doubles team of Ella and Marina Mierzwinski finished off the win for the Tigers with a 6-2, 6-1 win. In the first meeting, Mansfield was swept, but the Hornets made this a tough match for the Tigers. Caroline Guravage took her third singles match 6-4, 6-2 and the doubles pairing of Jillian Hanley and Savannah Carey won 6-1, 6-3.
Milford, 2 @ North Attleboro, 3 – Final – North won all three of the singles matches to secure a win that moves the Rocketeers slightly ahead of KP in the Kelley-Rex title race. Lauren Hunt, Megan Atwood, and Grace Noreck all won their matches without dropping a game. Ava Merril and Lily Bogonis won their doubles match for the Hawks and Audrey Brannigan and Paige Caldon won 6-2, 6-3 at second doubles.

Franklin, 4 @ Mansfield, 1 – Final – Franklin quickly erased an early deficit and used four pitchers to hold the host Hornets at bay in a 4-1 decision. Mansfield took an early 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly from Wyatt Bolduc (to score Matt DeShiro) in the bottom of the first inning but the Panthers plated three runs in the top of the second and never trailed again. Luke Sidwell drove in Ben Yuknis and Rex Cinelli on a fielder’s choice and Jase Lyons followed with an RBI single two at-bats later to hand Franklin a 3-1 lead. Yuknis (walk) came in to score on a ground out from Ethan DePaolo in the top of the sixth to add to the lead. Dillon Cashin got the win in relief for Franklin, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings with three hits allowed and one strikeout while Jake Shaughnessy was strong in the start, allowing one run on one hit and two walks, striking out one in three innings. Lyons and Austin Campbell (two strikeouts) combined for 1.2 scoreless innings after Cashin.
Softball
Taunton, 9 @ Bishop Feehan, 0 – Final – Sam Lincoln shined in the circle and Taunton’s offense produced runs in every inning except the first in a convincing win over Bishop Feehan. Lincoln only allowed one hit and didn’t issue a single walk, striking out 15 in a complete game shutout. Offensively, the Tigers scored a single run in the second, fourth, fifth, and seventh, pushing across three runs in the third and a pair in the sixth. Ava Venturelli (home run), Kaysie DeMoura (RBI, two runs), Mia Fernandes (RBI, run), and Mia Torres (RBI, run) each had two hits to pace the Taunton offense.
Milford, 0 vs. St. Paul Diocesan, 14 – Final (5 inn.)
Mansfield, 5 @ Marblehead, 0 – Final – Mansfield made it two wins in a row with a 5-0 shutout on the road at Marblehead. The Hornets scored once in the second (Allie Koppy RBI to score Jill Koppy) and once more in the third (Molly Kucharski single to score Reilly Slaney) and then extended its lead with three runs in the sixth inning: Kucharsky singled, Molly Crowley walked, and Allie Koppy and Dani Jameson both singled to make it 5-0. Jameson earned the win in the circle, scattering four hits and striking out seven in a complete game effort.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Attleboro, 2 – Final – North Attleboro senior Jordan Paradis had a strong start on the bump and the Rocketeers produced enough runs offensively to secure a 5-2 rivalry win at Attleboro. Paradis allowed just two runs on two hits and three walks, striking out 10 in five innings for the win; sophomore Gio Martello tossed two scoreless innings in relief for the save. The Rocketeers took the lead in the top of the first inning and never surrendered it against the Bombardiers. Derek Maceda lined a two-run double to give the visitors the lead in the top half before Attleboro got on the board in the bottom half on an RBI double from Aiden Hochwarter. North extended its lead in the top of the fourth on Paradis’ RBI triple and an RBI single from Martello to make it 4-1. Ayden Delaney added a sacrifice fly for North while Casey Victorio drove in a run for the Bombardiers in the fifth.
King Philip, 9 @ Canton, 2 – Final – KP exploded for seven runs in the top of the second and never looked back, rolling to its fourth win in a row. Brendan Sencaj blasted a grand slam to lead the KP attack at the plate. Matthew Kelley continued his strong work with the bat, going 4-for-4 and scoring three runs. Cam Hasenfus went six innings and allowed two earned runs to pick up the win, while Nate Pennini stepped in to pitch a scoreless seventh. Matt Chafin had a pair of hits and an RBI for the Bulldogs, while Andrew Gillis reached base three times and scored once. Griffin Hughes had a strong relief outing, going five innings and allowing two runs.

Foxboro, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 4 – Final – Oliver Ames plated all four of its runs in the bottom of the first inning and Katie Melendy and the Tigers’ defense took care of the rest to land a key 4-3 win over division rival Foxboro. It was the visiting Warriors that struck first when sophomore Natalia Leach smacked a solo home run to center field to present Foxboro an early 1-0 lead. OA responded in the bottom half with all four of its runs; Maddie Homer led off with a single, stole second and scored on an RBI single from Devon Morris to tie the game. Melendy singled and two at-bats later, Erin Martin singled and Melendy came home on an error. A double from Katherine Farley plated one more run and Samantha Johnson followed with another RBI double to make it 4-1 in favor of the Tigers. Foxboro cut into the deficit in the top of the fifth on a single from freshman Mia Flanagan that scored two runs but Melendy got the third out in the inning to strand the tying run at second. Foxboro got the tying run to second in the top of the seventh as well but Melendy got back-to-back outs to secure the win. Melendy earned the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and five walks, striking out five in a complete game effort. Vittoria Cuscia pitched well for Foxboro, scattering seven hits and three walks for four runs, striking out four in six innings.
Stoughton, 11 @ Milford, 16 – Final – Milford pounded out 18 hits to the tune of a 16-11 win over visiting Stoughton, securing its third win in the last five contests. Although the Black Knights jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first (highlighted by RBIs from Alyssa Edwards, Camryn Whitman, and Caitlin Driscoll), Milford’s Olivia Baglione led off the bottom half with a solo home run and the Scarlet Hawks were off and running offensively. Milford ended up pushing across five runs in the first and three more in the second to get the lead; Stoughton rallied for three runs in each the fifth and sixth but the Hawks answered with seven combined runs in the same two innings. Junior Maeve Driscoll had a team-high four hits and knocked in one run, Baglione (two RBI, two runs), Cae Pellegrini (four runs) and Maeve Williams (four RBI, three runs) each added three hits, and Jianna Fernandes (four RBI, run) had two hits. Edwards went 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple, five RBI and four runs to lead the Black Knights while Anna Hobbs and Kerry Driscoll each had two hits.

North Attleboro, 10 @ Attleboro, 4 – Final
Canton, 8 @ Foxboro, 12 – Final – Foxboro used a dominant first half to land a key win over division rival Canton. The Warriors poured in eight goals in the opening half and played great defense to limit the visiting Bulldogs to just one goal for an 8-1 edge at the break. Conor Noone led the charge offensively, scoring six goals with one assist while Tony Sulham added a hat trick in the win. Ryan Cotter, Jon Sacchetti, and Mikey McCabe each added one goal while Finn Stapleton had an outstanding defensive game for the Warriors. Adam Addeche made 14 saves in net to keep Foxboro ahead.
Franklin, 19 @ Mansfield, 5 – Final – Luke Davis continued to dominate offensively and Franklin ran away with a big win on the road at Mansfield. Davis had eight goals and three assists, all in the first three quarters, while Jayden Consigli added six goals and two helpers and Tyler Sacchetti chipped in with four goals and three assists for the Panthers, which built a double-digit (13-3) lead by halftime. Drew Hansen added two assists and Justin Alexander (one assist) went 16-for-22 at the face-off X. Ryan DeGirolamo made 20 saves in net for the host Hornets and Drew Sacco led the team offensively with three goals and an assist. Cody Gordon and Andrew DeGirolamo each added one goal, and Andrew Burnham and Nico Smith each had two assists.
Taunton, 0 @ King Philip, 20 – Final
Oliver Ames, 12 @ Milford, 11 – Final (OT) – Ben Reardon’s second goal of the game delivered a walk off win for Oliver Ames as the Tigers dispatched Milford in overtime. The Scarlet Hawks and visiting OA were tied 11-11 at the end of regulation but Reardon found the back of the net for the second time to hand the Tigers the dramatic win. Shaun Teehan and Alex McAndrew had big performances for OA with each scoring three goals while Jake Manthous, Ryan Jaco, and Victor Romeiro each scored once. Noah Iselib made 12 saves in the win.
Girls Lacrosse
Attleboro, 19 @ North Attleboro, 10 – Final – Locked in a tight battle at halftime, Attleboro erupted for 11 second half goals to run away with a big win on the road at rival North Attleboro. The Bombardiers had a balanced attack offensively with sophomore Isabella Cavallini (two assists) scoring a team-high five goals while junior Molly Moore (three assists), junior Addison Papagolos, and freshman Amelia Collins each scored four goals in the win; senior Gabriela Sprovieri and freshman Mekenah Stokes each added one goal in the win. Jordan Mooney added four assists while Papagolos (six) and Cavallini (nine) did well on the draw. Peyton McAuliffe made 11 saves in the win for Attleboro.
Foxboro, 17 @ Canton, 8 – Final – After a back-and-forth first half, Foxboro’s balanced offensive attack proved to be too much as the Warriors found the back of the net 10 times in the second half to pull away from Canton in a key division battle. Senior Paige Curran spearheaded the Warriors’ attack with six goals and three assists while Mya Waryas added five goals and four assists and Val Beigel had four goals — including the 100th of her career — and one assist in the win. Cate Noone chipped in with one goal and three assists, Addie Riley scored once, and Mary Collins notched an assist. Devan Spinale led the Bulldogs with four goals, Emily McCabe chipped in with two goals, and Nora Giannacopoulos and Shannon McGrann both had one goal. Ashley Balunas made six saves in net for the Bulldogs.
Mansfield, 3 @ Franklin, 18 – Final – Franklin senior Kaitlyn Carney hit a big milestone in the win, recording her 200th career point. Grace Nesbit added her first goal of the season for the Panthers. Brooke Butler had a goal and an assist, while Ava Adam and Lola Varricchione each scored once for the Hornets. Caitlyn Zajac made five stops in goal for the visitors.
King Philip, 20 @ Taunton, 1 – Final – KP had 18 different players find the back of the net, as they made it back-to-back wins. Makenzie McDevitt scored once and had a pair of assists, recording the 100th point of her career. Maggie Sweeney, Ashleigh Whitbread, Sierra King, Isabelle Taylor, Katie McGann, Mara Boldy, Halle LeBlanc, and Faith Garvey all scored their first varsity goals in the win. Cali Melo scored for Taunton on an assist from Caroline Vallarelli.

Sharon, 9 @ Stoughton, 8 – Final – Sharon edged Stoughton to pick up its second win in the past four games and deny the Black Knights their first win as a varsity program. Amanda Reid was the top scorer for the hosts with five goals, and also pulled down three draw controls. Casey Groppi dished out five assists, while Morgan Groppi and Nicole Reid each scored once. Jordan Coleman made 13 saves in the loss.
Boys Tennis
Canton, 3 @ Foxboro, 2 – Final – Canton freshman Bharat Ramanathan overcame a one-set deficit and a three-game deficit in the second set to earn the clinching win at second singles for the Bulldogs. Ramanathan rallied from a 2-5 deficit to get the win and followed with a 12-10 third-set tiebreaker win to clinch the match. Max Kupferman continued his dominance at the first singles with a 6-0, 6-1, and Canton’s second doubles team of Drew Garrett and Matt Weaver earned a 6-1, 7-5 victory. Foxboro’s Ryan Fossella and Evan Paluzzi took a point at first doubles with a 6-1, 6-2 verdict and sophomore Luca Meyer earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at third singles for the Warriors.
Taunton, 5 @ New Bedford, 0 – Final – Taunton went on the road and returned home from the Whaling City with five wins — all in straight sets — to sink host New Bedford. Mike Kimmer emerged from a competitive first singles match with a 6-4, 6-1 win, Martin Frankimet dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 second singles win, and Heitor Sens rolled to a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles. In doubles action, Collin Lofgren and Derek Desseault teamed up and lost just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory at first doubles while the pairing of Kenny Dias and Rowan Kimmer dominated to the tune of a 6-2, 6-0 win at second doubles.
Sharon, 5 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – In a battle of division leaders, Sharon repped the Davenport with a clean sweep by taking all five matches in straight sets. Sophomore Jacob Slavsky bounced back with a 6-2, 6-2 win at first singles, junior Matthew Lally prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at second singles, and sophomore Alex Budovalcev continued his impressive sophomore season with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 showing at third singles for the Eagles. Sophomores Sava Kassev and Joel Zwicker emerged from a tough test at first doubles with a 6-2, 7-5 win, and the team of senior Kevin Li and sophomore Sujun Zhao took a 6-2, 6-1 victory at second doubles.

Foxboro, 4 @ Canton, 1 – Final – Foxboro took a pair of wins from both singles and doubles actions to earn a 4-1 verdict over host Canton. Hailey Kornbluth (6-0, 6-1) and Makayla Peck (6-2, 6-4) each wins at first and second singles, respectively, while the teams of Emily Stow and Katelynn Dineen (7-5, 6-7 (5), 10-7), and Abby Grace and Arianna Urman (6-4, 6-3) swept doubles play for the Warriors. Canton’s Katherine Powers was victorious at third singles, taking a 6-1, 6-2 win.
Taunton, 4 vs. New Bedford, 1 – Final
Attleboro, 0 @ Sharon, 5 – Final – Sharon earned its 10th straight win to start the season, taking a clean sweep over visiting Attleboro. Sophomore Judy Song dropped just two games en route to a 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles, junior Navya Shukla added a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles, and senior Abby Vilk completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 4-0 (default) win at third singles. The team of sophomore Alina Hou and Olivia Landstein earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at first doubles for the Eagles, and the second doubles pairing of Grace Zhang and Emma Gershun prevailed 7-6 (5), 6-1.
Milford, 3 @ Stoughton, 2 – Final – Milford sophomore Mallory Brickley erased a one-set deficit to secure a win at third singles and clinch the win for the visiting Scarlet Hawks. Brickley dropped a tight first set but then won two in a row for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 win. Milford also got wins from the sophomore first doubles pairing of Ava Merrill and Lily Bogonis (6-2, 6-1) and the second doubles team of sophomores Audrey Brannigan and Paige Caldon (6-3, 7-5). Ally Lada earned a 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 comeback win at first singles and senior Nadia Prokopiuk rallied for a 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 win at second singles for the Black Knights.
