Sharon, 1 @ Wellesley, 6 – Final

Taunton, 1 vs. New Bedford, 5 – FinalTaunton junior Jared Roderick scored off an assist from DiNey Rodrigues to cut the New Bedford lead to 2-1, but the Whalers pulled away to earn the two points.

Girls Soccer
Sharon, 1 @ Milton, 2 – FinalSharon’s Bridget McManus scored the lone goal for the Eagles.

Taunton, 5 @ New Bedford, 0 – FinalTaunton’s Grace Pimenta (five saves) and Hannah Mcentee (one save) combined for the shutout as the Tigers opened the season with a big win on the road over New Bedford. Emily O’Gara scored two goals, while Megan Flanagan had one goal and two assists in the win. Emma Silvia added a goal and an assist while Alex Wapenski also scored for the Tigers

Field Hockey
Mansfield, 1 vs. Duxbury, 0 – FinalMansfield junior Kayla Hunter made 11 saves in a shutout effort, helping the Hornets open the season with a win over visiting Duxbury. Sophomore Abby Varricchione scored the lone goal of the game with just under 10 minutes left in the first half.

Stoughton, 3 @ East Bridgewater, 0 – FinalStoughton senior Allie Howe scored a pair of goals as the Black Knights opened the season with a non-league win over East Bridgewater. Brittni Paul scored the other goal for Stoughton.

Volleyball
Taunton, 0 @ New Bedford, 3 – FinalMcKenzie Lucie had a strong game defensively in the back row for the Tigers but Taunton dropped the season opener to New Bedford. Jaime Brown and Riley Edwards both stepped up and did a good job setting for Taunton after losing starter Kayli Fagan to an injury in warmups.

Golf
Mansfield, 171 @ Taunton, 188 – FinalMansfield sophomore Ryan Dow fired a match medalist round of 38 to lead the Hornets to a season-opening win over Taunton. Senior Jake DiSangro and sophomore Nathan Morreale each shot 44 for Mansfield while sophomore Ava Haggis carded a round of 45. Jack Giebel had the best round for Taunton, finishing with a 45.

Boys Soccer
Sharon, 3 vs. Norwood, 2 – FinalSharon scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes to erase a one-goal deficit and land a one-goal win. Freshman Bryce Nathan converted a free kick just outside the area in the 34th minute to bring the Eagles level. Norwood went up 2-1 in the 57th minute but the Eagles leveled the match when Antonio El Khoury scored on a bicycle kick inside the area in the 76th minute. Senior Andy Reyes-Jones headed in the winner in the 78th minute off a long throw-in from classmate Tyler Hippler.

Girls Soccer
Franklin, 0 @ Notre Dame Academy, 3 – Final

Field Hockey
Attleboro, 1 @ Franklin, 3 – FinalAttleboro took the lead early but junior Annie Walsh tied the game last in the first half for the Panthers. FHS junior Cassi Ronan then scored the next two goals to give the Panthers the win. Franklin coach Lisa Cropper noted that senior Kyla Aldred played a strong game on defense.

Taunton, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – FinalOliver Ames freshman Hannah Stryke scored a pair of goals in the first half to help the Tigers qualify for the state tournament. Senior Sarah Stevens assisted on the second goal while senior Caitlin Grant made two saves in net.

Stoughton, 6 @ Sharon, 1 – FinalJulia Russell led the Stoughton offense with three goals while Jackie Evangelista scored a pair of goals and Brittni Paul found the back of the net once. Emily Locke scored for Sharon.

Volleyball
Attleboro, 0 @ Franklin, 3 – FinalFranklin defended home court with another balanced offensive attack. Hailey Sanders and Meaghan Maguire each recorded eight kills for the Panthers while Maggie Doyle had four kills to go along with 14 service points and a pair of blocks. Junior Lauren McGrath added 21 assists and 14 service points in the win.

Canton, 3 @ Foxboro, 0 – FinalCanton went on the road and recorded a 25-20, 25-19, 25-16 sweep of Foxboro. Erin Devine had five kills and five blocks for the Bulldogs. Canton head coach Pat Cawley noted that Caitlyn Cahill had some clutch serving and good defense while Angie Elias came off the bench and provided a spark on offense.

King Philip, 3 @ Mansfield, 0 – FinalKing Philip picked up the sweep on the road over Kelley-Rex rival Mansfield, walking away with a 25-18, 26-24, 25-20 in a competitive contest. Sydney Phillips led the offense with 17 kills, five digs, and two aces while Michaela Palumbo added 10 kills, nine service points and a pair of aces. Grace Ely added four kills while Julianne Rando chipped in with six digs and six aces. For Mansfield, Julia Harrison led the offense with 11 kills while Meg Hill added 10 kills. Jolie O’Neil, Sam Sternberg, and Katie Dardinski each had 10 digs for the Hornets.

North Attleboro, 3 @ Milford, 1 – FinalNorth Attleboro picked up a tight win on the road, leaving Milford with a 25-23, 25-27, 25-22, 26-24 win over the Scarlet Hawks.

Taunton, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – FinalTaunton won two of the first three games but Oliver Ames battled back to win games four and five and earn the win (24-26, 25-16, 14-25, 25-15, 15-4). Katie Flynn led the way for the Tigers with 14 kills while Emma Petrillo also had 14 kills as well as six aces. Allie Kemp finished with 36 assists, Sadie Homer added 32 digs and a pair of aces and Kayla Raymond slammed down eight kills with six blocks.

Stoughton, 3 @ Sharon, 1 – FinalStoughton bounced back after dropping a tight first set to win the next three and earn its 15th win of the season (27-29, 25-13, 26-24, 25-17). Senior Val Whalen led the way with 16 kills and 23 digs for the Black Knights while junior Molly Turner added 17 assists and 16 digs and junior Hanna Holden chipped in seven aces.

Stoughton, 3 vs. East Bridgewater, 1 – FinalBrittni Paul scored a pair of goals to lead the Black Knights to their fifth win of the season. Julia Russell also scored in Stoughton’s win.

Attleboro, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – FinalOliver Ames scored once in each half to pick up a win over visiting Attleboro. Nathaniel Cardoza put the Tigers ahead on an assist from Chris Lawrence while Michael Nikiciuk doubled the lead, on an assist from Brandin Osborne. OAHS head coach praised the play of Cam Vella, Mason Galbato, Matt Campbell and Colin Evin.

Sharon, 0 @ Canton, 2 – FinalCanton junior Griffin Roach continued his strong start to the season, netting a brace in the win. Roach scored once in each half.

Mansfield, 3 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalMansfield built a 3-0 lead over the first 25 minutes of the game and then held off a late push from the Panthers. John Cooney opened the scoring on an assist from Sean Lanzillo in the eighth minute and just three minutes later, Jared Gabrilowitz made it 2-0 on a feed from Cullin Anastasia. Nick Wisnieski converted a chance from Gabrilowitz in the 22nd minute to make it 3-0. Franklin got on the board when sophomore Sam Stowell converted a penalty kick in the 38th minute. Sophomore Lucas Mauro netted Franklin’s second goal off an assist from Nasir Brahimi. Nick Ferraz made six saves in net for Mansfield.

King Philip, 1 @ Taunton, 0 – FinalKing Philip Connor Mullins converted a cross from Thomas Lugten inside the area in the first half to give the Warriors the win.

North Attleboro, 4 @ Stoughton, 0 – FinalNorth Attleboro built a 3-0 lead by halftime and converted a set piece in the second half to earn two points on the road. Sophomore Dylan Corrigan grabbed his first goal of the game in the sixth minute, and made it 3-0 in the 30th minute, burying a rebound chance after a terrific save from Stoughton keeper Carter Gerome. Oliver Ames, 2 @ Attleboro, 1 – FinalMaeve Hogan put OA in front with a header off a Sophia Cox corner. Briley Harnois tied the game late in the first half, but Abby Hodges popped up with the game-winner midway through the second half, off a Jackie Mills cross.

Sharon, 1 @ Canton, 2 – FinalFreshman Elisa Diletzia scored with a header off a Riley Duserick cross in the closing minutes to nab the win for the Bulldogs. Freshman Olivia Rodman scored the first for Canton off a Lilah Sullivan assist.

Foxboro, 1 @ Milford, 0 – FinalLily Sykes scored the lone goal of the game with a shot from outside the 18. Katie Huether assisted on the goal for the Warriors. According to Milford coach Jay Mastaj, Olivia Marshall played well in goal with a number of saves to keep the Hawks in it and Ashleigh Starks and Juliana France both had strong games as well.

Taunton, 1 @ King Philip, 5 – FinalKing Philip sophomores Avery Snead and Chloe Layne linked up for three goals in King Philip’s win at home. Layne (three points) scored twice, both on assists from Snead, who scored once and had another assist for a total of four points. Abby Baker scored an unassisted tally and Jenna Hitchen also scored once. Samantha Tichelaar scored the lone goal of the game for the Tigers, while Grace Pimenta made 12 saves for Taunton.

Stoughton, 0 @ North Attleboro, 5 – FinalAshlyn Gaulin had a brace and an assist for the Rocketeers, while Haley Guertin, Aine Mendonca, and Mackenzie Rosenberg each scored one in the win. Leah Jette, Samantha Hawkins, and Kayla Pasquel each had assists. North coach Bill Wallace said that Coley Flynn, Meg Slaney and Ally Blaisdell “had excellent games.”

Field Hockey
Oliver Ames, 6 @ Attleboro, 3 – FinalOliver Ames scored three goals in each half to double up on Attleboro. Maggie Woods scored a pair of goals while Sarah Stevens, Kayla Lozzi, Liz Nuss and Cristina Boudreau each scored once. Boudreau added two assists while Nuss, Hannah Stryke and Cassie Gennis each had one helper.

Senior Jackie Kandar had a strong game defensively for the Tigers and added four kills and two aces. Emma Petrillo added 12 kills and Katie Flynn finished with 10 kills.

Canton, 3 @ Sharon, 0 – FinalCanton picked up a sweep on the road, notching a 25-12, 25-18, 25-15 win. Erin Devine had a great match with eight kills without any hitting errors (.727). Nyah Claiborne chipped in with three aces and great defense. Sofia Connor had 12 digs and Nicole Brown added 16 assists.

Mansfield, 0 @ Franklin, 3 – FinalFranklin had a strong, well-rounded attack to pick up a sweep against Mansfield. Ellie Wisniewski (ace), Meaghan Maguire (block) and Hailey Sanders all had eight kills apiece while Maggie Doyle (three blocks) added four kills. For Mansfield, Meg Hill added eight kills, Julia Harrison had six kills and Mikayla Kearney chipped in with 10 digs.

Canton, 154 @ North Attleboro, 157 – FinalSophomore Chris Lavoie fired a career-best 37 to lead Canton to a key division win over North Attleboro. Danny Powers, Joey Vaughan and Niko Donovan each carded rounds of 39 for the Bulldogs. Aidan Weir earned match medalist honors, shooting a 36 for North Attleboro.

Sharon, 174 @ Milford, 180 – FinalSharon’s Cory Carter earned match medalist honors, carding a round of 37 to lead the Eagles. Riley Lynch shot a team-low round of 42 for the Hawks.

Taunton, 304 @ Dighton-Rehoboth, 242 – Final Taunton’s Jack Patneaude shot a team-low round of 41 for the Tigers.

Oliver Ames, 2 vs. Brockton, 0 – FinalOliver Ames scored once in each half to sweep the season series with neighboring Brockton. Anabella Walsh opened the scoring the first half, finishing off a cross from Abby Hodges to put the home side ahead. Anna Tempestoso doubled the Tigers’ lead in the second half, converting a penalty kick. OAHS head coach Britt Sellmayer said Maeve Hogan and Maggie Ault anchored OA’s back line.

Field Hockey
Franklin, 0 vs. Walpole, 3 – FinalFranklin junior goalie Anna Jardine made a highlight-reel save with a beautiful slide tackle on a breakaway as one of her career-high 16 saves but the Panthers fell to state perennial power Walpole. FHS head coach Lisa Cropper noted sophomore Maeve Ledwith and junior Cassi Ronan also played well for Franklin.

Stoughton, 5 @ East Bridgewater, 0 – FinalAllie Howe led Stoughton’s offense with a pair of goals while Brittni Paul, Julia Russell and Alanna McCormick each netted a goal apiece.
