Girls Hockey
King Philip, 2 @ Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 1 – FinalKing Philip’s Avari Maxwell shorthanded goal at 11:22 of the third period – which turned out to be the game-winner – helping the Warriors secure two points in a key league game. MOA took the lead in the first off a goal from Mackenzi Fraser (assisted by Isabelle Shanteler and Cat Luciano) but the Warriors tied the game with just 26 seconds left in the period on a goal from Nicole Connor. KP head coach Jake Unger credited the defensive play of Jessica Daniels and Katie Crowther, as well as the strong play of goalie Lilly Potts.

Attleboro, 69 vs. Durfee, 57 – FinalDespite 31 points from Durfee’s Shaelyn Correiro, Attleboro pulled out a double-digit win to move back above .500 on the season. Sam Pierce had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead Attleboro, while Nyah Thomas added 13 points, MacKenzie Roberts had 12, and Liv McCall had 11 in the win. Attleboro coach Marty Crowley said that Jordyn Lako was “immense defensively” for the Bombardiers.

Canton, 57 vs. Dover-Sherborn, 34 – FinalHannah Jerrier scored a game-high 24 points and pulled down 18 rebounds as Canton improved to 3-1 with the non-league win. Erin Devine added eight points, six blocks, and seven boards for the Bulldogs and freshman Kayla Albert scored four points, grabbed five rebounds, blocked three shots and had two assists on her varsity debut. Canton coach Jim Choquette called it a “great effort from the entire team.”

Cam Sanchez crossed first in the 55M dash (6.99) while Jack Healey took second in both the 1 Mile (5:07.15) and the 2 Mile (11:05.91). Riley McDonnell placed second in the 300M (38.70).

Mansfield’s Amanda Mangano was first in the 55M dash (7.59) and the long jump (16-11.00) while taking third in the high jump (4-8.00). Alexis Kiyanda won her first race of the year, crossing first in the 300M at 45.61. The Hornets’ 4×200 relay of Gabrielle Devlin, Julia Harrison, Angela Corkery, and Meg Kuras ran a season-best time of 1:53.42 for the win.

Franklin junior Sadie Rondeau placed first on the beam for the Panthers with an 8.35 while freshman Lexi Lupien took second in each the vault, beam, and floor.

The Bombardiers held a 39-35 lead at halftime but opened the third quarter with a 13-4 run to create separation. Attleboro outscored Sharon 23-9 in the third quarter. Attleboro senior Elvin Sam scored a career-high 17 points while sophomore Bryant Ciccio (seven assists) tied a career-high with 16 points for Attleboro. Dom Victor added 15 points while Qualeem Charles (seven rebounds), Nate Douglas, and Mason Houle each scored 10 points. Sharon senior Malik Lorquet led all scorers with 20 points.

Franklin, 52 @ Foxboro, 54 – Final Foxboro led by six at halftime (31-25) and extended that lead to as much as 15 in the second half but had to survive a furious late rally by the Panthers. Foxboro led 42-32 going into the fourth quarter but a 7-0 run from the Panthers cut the deficit to just four, 51-47, with 47 seconds left. Bobby Harrison hit a pair of free throws with 15 seconds left to make it a two-possession game. Matt Rongione scored a career-high 15 points for the Warriors while Joe Morrison added 12 points and sophomore Brandon Borde had nine points. Franklin sophomore Chris Edgehill had a game-high 17 points while junior Jalen Samuels added 15 points.

Mansfield, 85 @ Stoughton, 60 – FinalAfter a close first quarter, Mansfield exploded for 30 points in the second quarter to take a 51-28 lead at halftime. The Hornets had their best defensive quarter of the game in the third, limiting the Black Knights to eight points to pull away completely. Senior John McCoy (9-for-11) scored a team-high 23 points, hauled in 10 rebounds and had three blocks, Khristian Conner notched a career-high 17 points (on 8-for-13 shooting) with seven rebounds and Justin Vine added 16 points. Stoughton senior Cam Andrews scored a game-high 24 points for the Black Knights.

Taunton, 54 @ Milford, 56 – Final (OT)Milford overcame a 12-point deficit in the final three minutes of the game to send the game to overtime, and then twice erased deficits in the extra period to earn the win. Milford junior Cam Falcon drained a three – his first career field goal – to give the Hawks the early lead in overtime. Taunton rattled off four straight to get the lead back, but two free throws from Milford put the Hawks up 53-52. Taunton scored again to take the but Milford once again sank two free throws to take the lead for good. Brendan White scored 10 of his team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter for the Hawks. Steve Sutherland added 12 points in the win for Milford. Taunton sophomore Dante Law scored a game-high 18 points while Lou Vendrell had 10 points for the Tigers.

Oliver Ames, 44 @ North Attleboro, 59 – FinalNorth Attleboro raced out to a 12-1 lead after one quarter and never looked back. Big Red took a 27-16 lead into halftime and a 36-28 lead into the fourth quarter. Chad Peterson finished with a team-high 13 points, including three triples in the third quarter. Matt Seavey added 10 points and Evan Rosenberg, Josh Montague, and Jake Peterson all had nine points for the Rocketeers. North head coach Sean Mulkerrins praised the defensive work of Derek Shanks. Jack Spillane led the Tigers with 17 points.

Sharon, 32 @ Attleboro, 48 – FinalAttleboro outscored the Eagles 14-3 in the third quarter to break the game open and earn its second straight victory. The Bombardiers were led by Sam Pierce’s 14 points and nine rebounds. Nyah Thomas added 12 points and nine boards and Jordyn Lake scored seven points, pulled down 10 boards, and dished out five assists in the win. Sharon was led by Emma Eberhardt and Evanjuline Elisma, who each scored 10 points.

Canton, 59 @ King Philip, 54 – FinalThe Bulldogs scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to rally for a road win at KP, only taking their first lead in the final minute of the game. Hannah Jerrier had a double-double for Canton, scoring 21 points and pulling down 15 rebounds. Erin Devine added 11 points and Maggie Connolly had 10 for the Bulldogs, who shot 15-of-19 from the line as a team.

Attleboro, 50 @ Canton, 53 – FinalCanton held a one-point lead at halftime (28-27) but used an 8-0 run to start the second half to create the separation it needed. The Bulldogs went up 51-41 with 5:29 to play, but Attleboro’s switch to a zone defense stalled Canton’s offense and got the Bombarders back into the game. Attleboro had a 9-2 run and had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer but the shot missed and Canton picked up its first win over Attleboro since 2013. Senior Tony Harris scored a game-high 18 points while hauling in 15 rebounds, senior Austin Maffie added 11 points and junior Devin Foster finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Attleboro junior Dom Victor had a team-high 16 points while sophomore Qualeem Charles had 12 points.

King Philip, 53 @ Milford, 47 – FinalMilford held the lead until the final minutes of the game, but King Philip took the lead late and earned the win on the road. Milford junior Brendan White dropped a career-high 20 points while senior Kayden Kelley had 15 points for the Hawks.

Oliver Ames, 64 @ Stoughton, 53 – FinalStoughton rallied at the end of the first half, using seven straight points from senior Greg Firmin (career-high 14 points) to take a 34-32 lead at halftime. But Oliver Ames switched to a 2-3 zone and took control of the game in the second half. OA senior Jack Spillane led all scorers with 24 points while junior Jake Erlich scored 13 points for the Tigers.

Taunton, 64 @ Sharon, 62 – FinalSharon overcame a 13-point deficit over the final 90 seconds and had a chance to win it at the buzzer, but came up just shy. Taunton jumped out to a 20-10 lead after the first quarter before taking a 34-25 lead into the locker room. The Tigers kept their lead in double-digits, 50-40, heading into the final quarter. Sharon outscored Taunton 22-12 in the final frame but the Tigers escaped with the win. Sophomore Dante Law netted a team-high 20 points for Taunton while junior Lou Vendrell scored a career-high 18 points. Sharon senior Malik Lorquet led all scorers with 22 points and 12 rebounds, Jimmy Fitzhenry added 14 points and Lester High had 11 points.

Girls Basketball
Canton, 39 @ Attleboro, 37 – FinalHannah Jerrier scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Erin Devine added eight points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and three assists as Canton rallied in the final minute to open its season with a road victory. The Bulldogs trailed 37-36 with a minute left and scored to take the lead, adding a free throw in the final 20 seconds. Julia Hamilton added seven points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs. Attleboro was led by Sam Pierce’s 12 points, while Jordyn Lako scored 10 in the loss.

Foxboro, 43 @ Mansfield, 37 – FinalThe Warriors got 12 points from Grace Tamulionis and nine points from Lily Sykes (on a combined five three-pointers) to win the Hockomock opener for both teams in a battle of last season’s league champions. The Warriors took the lead with a 15-6 fourth-quarter run. The game was tied 37-37 with 2:00 remaining and Shannon Smally scored the go-ahead basket for Foxboro. Mansfield got 11 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks from Meg Hill and nine points on a trio of three-pointers from Ann Maher.

North Attleboro, 37 @ Franklin, 61 – FinalAli Brigham scored 16 points to lead Franklin to a win in the Hockomock League opener for both teams. Bea Bondhus added 15 points and freshman Elizabeth Wilson had 12 for the Panthers.

Milford, 56 @ King Philip, 64 – FinalShannon O’Connor scored a game-high 26 points to give new head coach Amy Siggens a win in her first game in charge. Faith Roy added 10 points and Faye Veilleux had nine for the Warriors. Siggens said it was a total team effort and highlighted KP turning the ball over only 10 times in the game. She added, “They just played so well together.” Milford was led by Kate Irwin with 22 points and Emily Piergustavo scored 16 in the loss.

Stoughton, 48 @ Oliver Ames, 55 – Final Oliver Ames held a comfortable 45-29 lead after three quarters, but the Knights rattled off a 17-4 run over the first five minutes of the final quarter to make it a three-point game. OA’s defense clamped down and allowed just two more points the rest of the way while Abby Reardon and Tori Harney hit key free throws to seal the win. Kayla Raymond scored 25 points and Caroline Flynn added 14 to lead Oliver Ames to a season-opening victory.

Sharon, 42 @ Taunton, 58 – FinalTaunton got 15 points from Hannah Moniz to open its season with a second straight win, exceeding the win total from last winter. Jaelyn Fernandez added 11 points, Mackenzie Handrahan had 10 points and seven boards, Alexa White had eight points and six steals, and Lily Patneaude and Kelsey White each had seven points in the victory. Emma Eberhardt scored 21 points and Kaitlyn Wallace added 16 for the Eagles.

Meaghan Rockey scored once and had two assists for the Tigers, who will travel to West Bridgewater on Friday to conclude the regular season. Maggie Woods, Hannah Stryke, and Sarah Stevens each scored once while Stryke and Cassie Gennis each had an assist. Caitlin Grant made nine saves in net for the Tigers.

Stoughton, 3 @ Canton, 2 – FinalStoughton won games four and five to overcome a 2-1 deficit and grab its 16th win of the season. Senior Val Whalen and sophomore Mykiah Simpson combined for 29 kills while junior Molly Turner got 29 assists and 16 digs for the Black Knights. Senior Taylor Levine played strong in the back row with 17 digs. For Canton, Hannah Jerrier had a great night with 21 kills, hitting .340 and had two blocks. Megan McDonough had 25 digs and four aces and Nicole Brown had another outstanding night with 35 assists and 11 digs for the Bulldogs.

King Philip, 3 @ Franklin, 1 – FinalKing Philip capped its perfect Hockomock League schedule with a 3-1 (25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 25-18) win over Franklin. Sydney Phillips continued her strong season at the net with 23 kills while Michaela Palumbo added 12 kills and 10 service points. Kat Kmetz had 11 service points, including two aces, and three blocks while Julianne Rando finished with eight digs. For Franklin, Meaghan Maguire (five blocks) and Hailey Sanders (two blocks) each chipped in with eight kills and Maggie Doyle (two blocks) had seven kills. Junior Lauren McGrath had 35 assists for the Panthers.

Mansfield, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – FinalOliver Ames rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win games four and five to earn the win over Mansfield (27-25, 19-25, 21-25, 27-25, 15-11). After an 0-6 start to the season, OA has won 10 of their last 13 games to qualify for the state tournament. Sophomore Allie Kemp led OA with 41 assists and five aces, senior Emma Petrillo had 14 kills and three aces, senior Kayla Raymond finished 11 kills and nine blocks, and junior Sadie Homer had 34 digs. For Mansfield, Julia Harrison had 26 kills and 11 digs, Meg Hill had 25 kills and Emma Ascoli finished with 48 assists and 36 digs.

Franklin, 2 @ Taunton, 3 – FinalTaunton erased a pair of deficits and then scored the winner late in the second half to pull off a win over visiting Franklin. Franklin went up 1-0 on a goal from sophomore Erin Walsh on a feed from junior Ashley Reutlinger. Taunton tied the game on a goal from Liana Duarte, but Franklin regained the lead behind a tally from freshman Victoria Quinn, assisted by Cassi Ronan. Taunton senior Kya Enos scored the equalizer to make it 2-2 and senior Diana Brens scored the late winner for the Tigers. Taunton goalie Emma Sheehan (15 saves) received praise from both THS head coach Mike Fox and FHS head coach Lisa Cropper. Fox also noted the strong defensive play of Mabel Smith, Jocelyn Pagliuca, and Riley Murphy.

For Mansfield, Meg Hill had 17 kills, Julia Harrison had 12 kills and Jolie O’Neil finished with 10 digs.

Stoughton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalNorth Attleboro dropped the first game but rattled off three straight wins to claim the Davenport division title outright with a 22-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-14 win over Stoughton. Senior Leah Marceau had 26 assists, spreading the ball around to balance the Rocketeers’ attack. Amelia Murphy led the way with 12 kills and five aces, Anna Caristi had 10 kills and five blocks and Kezie De La Cruz added 10 kills and four aces.

KP senior Sydney Phillips had 11 kills, seven aces, and three digs, Michaela Palumbo added seven kills and two aces, Grace Ely had nine kills, and Julianne Rando chipped in with seven digs.

King Philip, 167 @ Attleboro, 162 – FinalAttleboro won its third match in three days to punch its ticket to the D1 South Sectional, the program’s first postseason appearance since 2010. Kyle DelSignore led the Bombardiers with a low-round of 38 while Ethan Johnson shot a 40. Jack Handy carded a 41 and Taron Mills shot 43 for Attleboro. King Philip’s Matt Stanton earned co-match medalist honors with a 38.

Canton, 151 @ Oliver Ames, 144 – FinalOliver Ames emerged as the winner in a battle of two unbeaten teams, finishing the regular season 15-0. Canton finishes 13-1. It was no secret of how much talent both teams have as the top four golfers from each side all finished under 40. OA’s Ryan McGarry, who birded on the second and fourth holes, earned match medalist honors with a 34. Thomas Walsh carded a 36 for the Tigers while both Nolan Donze and Eric LeBlanc each shot 37. Joey Vaughan led Canton with a 36 while Danny Powers and Thomas Singleton each carded rounds of 38 and Jack Goyetch fired a 39.

Taunton, 181 @ Stoughton, 180 – FinalStoughton picked up its first win in four years, edging Taunton by a stroke at Easton Country Club. Brendan Campbell and Luke Bainton led the way for the Black Knights, each carding a round of 43 while Josh Hough shot a 44 for Stoughton.
