Foxboro, 67 vs. Lake Mary Prep (FL), 43 – FinalFoxboro outscored Lake Mary Prep 16-6 in the second quarter to create a 37-24 lead heading into the halftime break and never looked back. Sophomore Brandon Borde scored eight of his 14 points in the opening quarter while senior Joe Morrison had all 11 of his points in the first half. Sophomore Ryan Hughes scored 10 of his career-high 16 points in the final quarter to help secure the win.

Franklin, 62 vs. Malden Catholic, 36 – FinalFranklin senior Paul Mahon poured in a game-high 20 points to lead the Panthers past Malden Catholic and into the Somerville Hoop Fest final. The Panthers will play Arlington in the championship on Thursday.

King Philip, 71 vs. Dorchester, 74 – Final (OT)

Oliver Ames, 70 vs. Brockton, 84 – Final

Taunton, 77 vs. Charlestown, 67 – FinalTaunton senior Lens Esquil scored a career-high 20 points as the Tigers helped force 30 Charlestown turnovers to advance to the Skip Karam Tournament final. Esquil led the defensive charge with six steals while sophomore Naz Kenion (eight points, three assists) had three steals. Junior Lou Vendrell added 17 points, sophomore Dante Law had 13 points and nine rebounds, and junior John Martins finished with seven points, three rebounds, and three assists. Taunton will play host Durfee in the final on Thursday at 6:30.

Boys Hockey
Canton, 0 vs. Needham, 0 – FinalIn a first-round game of the Joe Donnelly Tournament, Canton and Needham finished scoreless for a tie for MIAA purposes. Needham won the game in overtime to advance to the finals while Canton will play Pembroke in the consolation round.

King Philip, 6 vs. North Quincy, 2 – Final

North Attleboro, 5 vs. Cumberland, 1 – Final

Stoughton, 7 vs. Tri-County, 1 – FinalStoughton’s offense exploded for seven goals and the defense had its best performance of the season to get the win. Freshman Matt Brown led the offense with a hat trick while Brendan Campbell, Sean Doherty, Mike Nazzaro, and Josh Hough each scored once.

Taunton, 4 vs. Dennis-Yarmouth, 2 – FinalTaunton’s Dylan Nichols scored the game-winning goal and had an assist to lead the Tigers to a victory over visiting Dennis-Yarmouth. Mike Albert scored twice while Tanner Lopes found the back of the net once. Cam Sneyd and Will Walsh each chipped in with two assists while Jeremy Chapell and Haden Weyant each had one assist. Sean Bunker made 25 saves to earn the win in net.

Girls Hockey
Canton, 2 vs. Westwood, 1 – FinalJunior Maggie Malloy scored the game-winning goal inside the final five minutes to lift the Bulldogs to a win and into the championship round of the Canton Ice House tournament. Kendra Farrelly scored Canton’s first goal while senior Colleen Kelleher made 35 saves in net to earn the win. Canton will play Milton in the final on Saturday at 4:50.

Franklin, 8 vs. Bishop Stang, 1 – Final

King Philip, 5 vs. Mount St. Charles, 3 – FinalKing Philip’s offense got a boost from its blue line as Nicole Connor scored once and had one assist and Jess Daniels found the back of the net once and had three helpers. Olivia Donovan opened the scoring for the Warriors and Ali Wilson scored her second goal in as many games.

Stoughton, 3 vs. Scituate, 8 – Final

Indoor Track
Boston Holiday Challenge – Mansfield girls indoor track had three top 10 finishes, two by Amanda Mangano. Mangano was fourth overall in the 55-meter dash, clocking in at 7.50 and was seventh overall in the long jump (16’1.25). Madison Haughey ran a PR in the 55M hurdles (9.38) to take ninth overall.

Wednesday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 03/15/17

Boys Basketball
D1 State Semifinal
#1 Franklin, 60 vs. #1 Springfield Central, 54 – Final (OT)With just under 16 seconds to play, Franklin trailed 51-43. By the end of regulation, the Panthers had pulled off the miraculous comeback to tie the game and send it into overtime. Freshman Chris Edgehill sandwiched a pair of three pointers around two free throws while Springfield Central had a pair of turnovers on inbounds plays in between. In overtime, sophomore Jalen Samuels hit a three to put Franklin up 54-53 and Connor Peterson converted an offensive rebound to make it 56-53. Both Peterson and Paul Mahon (12 points) hit free throws down the stretch to ice the game. Franklin advances to the D1 State Championship on Saturday. The Panthers will play North champion Cambridge at the MassMutual Center on Saturday.

#14 Canton, 1 vs. #7 Westwood, 0 – FinalJunior Kendra Farrelly scored the lone goal of the game, finding the back of the net in the second period to lead the Bulldogs. Canton will play #1 Notre Dame Academy on Sunday at the TD Garden in the Division 2 State Championship.

Mansfield, 27 @ Oliver Ames, 47 – FinalSix of Oliver Ames’ nine wins came via pin in a big division win over Mansfield. Brandon Belleton (132), Liston Funai (138), Anthony Berksza (145), Eric Berardi (152), Dean Pacini (195) and Jack Mills (285) each won via pin for the Tigers. Ryan DeCosta (113), Cobey Williamson (120) and Sean Cosgrove (160) also picked up wins for Oliver Ames.

Milford, 2 @ Stoughton, 4 – Final – Stoughton freshman Fabio Ponce De Leon notched his first career hat trick, scoring once in the first half off an assist from Josh Mitchell and then twice in the second half, the first a header off a corner from Noah Schulze and the final goal another header. Jordan Asnes converted a penalty to give Stoughton a 1-0 lead. Stoughton head coach Aaron Salter credited Milford goalie Mike Da Silva with some outstanding saves.
Girls Soccer
Foxboro, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – FinalFrancesca Calabraro scored on a pair of headers in the second half, the second assisted by Zoe Chazan, and Kiana Lozzi tacked on a third goal with two minutes to play. Jalisa Allen made 11 saves for the Warriors. Carolyn Will had a free kick tipped over the bar by Regan Benton in the opening minutes of the second half with the game still tied 0-0.
Franklin, 2 @ North Attleboro, 0 – FinalHalle Atkinson and Jess Kroushl scored the goals for Franklin and both were assisted by Alexis Stowell. Head coach Tom Geysen credited his defense for the victory, extending the team’s clean sheet streak to 11 games to start the season.
Canton, 6 @ Sharon, 0 – FinalHannah Link scored a pair of goals, the first assisted by Shannon Foley and second by Riley Duserick, to lead Canton to the win. Lauren Fitzpatrick, Julia Hamilton, Leianna Brune, and Kendra Farrelly also scored for the Bulldogs.
Volleyball
Mansfield, 3 @ Sharon, 0 – Final – Mansfield got the sweep on the road. Juliana Newell had 14 service points, Meg Hill had 13 kills and Jess Haradon added 12 digs for the Hornets.

Stoughton, 179 @ Canton, 159 – Final – Canton senior Steve Gorham and junior Shaun Kirby led the way for the Bulldogs, each shooting 39. Senior Jim Jenkins carded a 40 and seniors Joe Peccia and Griffin Jerrier each shot 41.
Mansfield, 157 @ Oliver Ames, 141 –  Final – Ryan McGarry shot a one under 33 for the Tigers, Brian Lambert shot par at 34 and Steven Tasho carded a 35 as Oliver Ames finished the regular season undefeated. Jason Hindman shot a 38 for the Hornets.Â
