Attleboro, 2 @ North Attleboro, 1 – FinalFor the second straight year, an Attleboro pitcher fired a no-hitter under the lights at Community Field in the annual Blue-Red Cup game. Sophomore Eoin Kelleher tossed his first career no-hitter, striking out three while allowing five walks. Attleboro senior Matt Callahan provided the offense, hitting his first career home run in the second inning. North tied the game when Kyle McCarthy walked, advanced to second on a ground out and came on an infield error. Callahan gave Big Blue the lead back in the top of the seventh with his second career home run.

Franklin, 8 @ Framingham, 4 – FinalFranklin junior James Leofanti allowed just two runs in five innings of work in his first career start to earn the win. Leofanti allowed four hits, walked two and struck out four while Ben Guzman struck out three in two innings of work in relief. Offensively, Ryan Hodgkins collected four hits, including a double, while scoring one run and knocking in another. Josh Macchi had two doubles, a run and an RBI, Tyler Gomes had two hits and two runs and Jake Noviello reached base three times, scored once and had three RBI.

Attleboro, 2 @ North Attleboro, 9 – FinalNorth Attleboro swept the season series with the Bombardiers and claimed the Blue-Red Cup with the win. Liz Morehouse had three hits for the Rocketeers, while Meg Barlow, Olivia Capobianco, and Abby Gallagher each had two. According to head coach Bill Wallace, Abby Warren and Andrea Miceli both played well defensively for North and Bella Erti gave up two unearned runs, while striking out eight in six innings.

Foxboro, 0 @ Milford, 15 – Final (5 inn.)Milford scored 14 runs in the first inning off of 11 hits in a big win over Foxboro. The Scarlet Hawks totaled 18 hits as a team with Jess Tomaso (three-run home run, double, five RBI), Maggie Farrell (two RBI), Emily Hartman (double, RBI) and Ali Atherton (triple, two RBI) each recording three hits apiece. Atherton earned the win, striking out six with two hits allowed.

King Philip, 3 @ Newton North, 4 – FinalElise Pereira allowed just one earned run but the Warriors fell to Newton North for the second time this season. Newton North went up 2-0 before KP cut the lead in half. Newton North extended it to 4-1 before KP cut it to one run again but the Warriors couldn’t complete the comeback. Nicole Carter had a two-run double for KP while Sydney Phillips had an RBI single and Hailey McCasland contributed with two hits.

Mansfield, 5 vs. Needham, 3 – FinalSarah Cahill picked up the win for the Hornets, striking out nine and scattering five hits, as Mansfield swept the season series with the Rockets. Mackenzie Burke was 3-for-3 on the day for Mansfield and her single started a three-run rally in the third. Kara Bendanillo and Megan Letendre followed with singles and Mady Bendanillo drove in a pair another single. Liz Mackin drove in the third run with a sac fly. Mansfield added two in the sixth, with Kerran Holmes scoring on a passed ball and Kara Bendanillo driving in Burke.

Oliver Ames, 4 @ Braintree, 10 – FinalOliver Ames’ Victoria Ziner collected three hits, including two doubles, and knocked in three runs to pace the Tigers offense. Kayla Georgue launched a solo home run while Lizzie Miller and Sarah Tetrault each had a hit and scored a run.

Taunton, 16 vs. New Bedford, 0 – Final (5 inn.)Taunton senior MacKenzie Handrahan was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, knocking in a pair of runs and freshman Hannah Aldrich went 2-for-3 with four RBI to lead the Tigers. Jaime Brown and Bekah Lajoie each went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Hailey Medeiros was 2-for-2 with a pair runs batted in. Eighth grader Kelsey White allowed just one hit in three innings of work, striking out five while freshman Jaylin Couto struck out four without allowing a hit in two innings.

Attleboro, 16 @ Milford, 4 – FinalAttleboro’s Zach Viau scored a team-high five goals while Andrew Milliken netted four to lead the Bombardiers past Milford in a non-league game. Trevor Koppy made 16 saves in net for Big Blue.

North Attleboro, 8 @ Bishop Feehan, 4 – FinalFeehan jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first quarter but the Rocketeers rattled off a 5-0 run during the second quarter to seize control and never look back. Jason McNeany (two goals) won 10 face offs while Dan MacDonald turned away an impressive 21 shots while also grabbing five ground balls. Zach McGowan had two goals and seven assists, Jack Dakin added two more goals, Owen Costello scored once and had an assist, Tommy Lindstrom had one helper and Colin Young finished with one goal.

Foxboro, 17 @ Attleboro, 0 – FinalFreshman goalie Sara Addeche recorded her first varsity shutout in the win and Foxboro had 11 different goal scorers in the game.

Mansfield, 19 vs. Dartmouth, 5 – Final

Oliver Ames, 7 @ Sharon, 12 – Final – With Friday’s win over OA, their 11th of the season, the Eagles set a new program record for wins in a season. Alex Rabb scored four goals to lead the way for Sharon, while Emma Eberhardt and Sabrina Robbins each had hat tricks and Anna Crosby had a pair of goals. Liv Piazza scored four goals for the Tigers and Ari Waldorf made 19 saves.

Taunton, 8 vs. New Bedford, 10 – FinalEighth grader Alana Tavares scored five goals and assisted on another but it wasn’t enough for the Tigers against New Bedford. Lorna Li made 14 saves in defeat.

Attleboro, 0 @ North Attleboro, 5 – FinalNorth Attleboro dropped just three games in singles play and four total in doubles play to earn the clean sweep of Attleboro. Zac Pfeffer won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, Barsomo Nuay took a 6-0, 6-1 decision at second singles and Andrew Harris notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at third singles. The team of Daniel Zhang and Ben Pfeffer won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and Keigan Beaugh and Brendan Hurd won 6-2, 6-1 at second doubles.

Franklin, 2 @ King Philip, 3 – FinalKing Philip moved within a game of clinching a share of the Kelley-Rex title with a win over Franklin. Cole Ginter won 7-5, 6-0 at first singles, Martin Matous won 6-0, 6-2 at third singles and Marco DiStefano and Aidan Ignatius clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-4 win at second doubles. Franklin’s Eli Brooks won 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) at third singles and the team of James Johnston and Rohan Herur won 6-4, 6-1 at first doubles.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ Brockton, 2 – FinalOliver Ames junior Joseph Lorizio prevailed from a third set tiebreaker with an 11-9 edge, handing the Tigers the win over Brockton and their first win of the season. OA also won both doubles matches in straight sets.

Taunton, 5 vs. New Bedford, 0 – FinalTaunton recorded its second sweep of the Whalers this season. Sophomore Brett Beaulieu won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, junior Mike Briggs won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles and senior Eric Gwozdz notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles. The team of sophomores Charlie Fiske and Dylan Kullas dropped just three games in a 6-2, 6-1 win at first doubles and freshman Alex Pugh and sophomore Trevor Hart won 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles.

Freshman Maura Kiernan won 6-0, 6-3 at third singles, Tori Wyman and Kristin Bloumbas notched a 6-3, 6-4 victory at first doubles and seniors Catherine Murphy and Emily Gordon sealed the win with a 6-0, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4 win at second doubles.

King Philip, 6 @ Taunton, 8 – FinalTaunton saw its 4-0 lead disappear when King Philip plated five runs in the fourth inning and went up 6-4 with a single run in the fifth. But the Tigers struck back with a run in the bottom of the fifth and then junior Christian Simoes had a three-run double in the bottom of the sixth to put Taunton back ahead. Tyler Medeiros also had an RBI for the Tigers, Matt Machado had two hits, Jacob Crawford reached base three times – two hits and a walk, and William DaRosa delivered a pinch hit RBI double. Sophomore Griffin Tomaszycki pitched a scoreless sixth inning to earn the win and Danny Keogh pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the save.

Franklin, 4 @ King Philip, 16 – Final (6 inn.)King Philip junior Jess Bonner connected for a pair of home runs and knocked in a total of five runs as KP put up its second largest offensive output of the season. Meg Gorman added four hits, including three doubles and Hailey McCasland, Nicole Carter, Brooke Taute and Sydney Phillips each had two hits. Jenn Hutnyan earned the win, striking out 10. Franklin sophomore Ally Shea hit her first home run and finished with three RBI while freshman Anna Balkus had two hits.

Eighth graders Hannah Aldrich and McKenzie McAloon both had a base hit and RBI, while freshman Jaylin Couto had an RBI suicide squeeze. Courtney Fisher earned the win, allowing an unearned run in six innings of work on four hits. Couto pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

Canton, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – FinalIn a back and forth contest, Canton came out on top by scoring the game-winner with less than a minute to play. Goals from OA’s Eric LeBlanc and Canton’s Nick Allen sent the game into halftime tied 1-1. Griffin Roach put Canton ahead 2-1 with 9:14 left in the fourth but LeBlanc netted his second, tying the game with just 1:40 to play. Matt Martin was the hero for the Bulldogs, netting the winner with 26 seconds to play. Canton freshman Jack Connolly made 11 saves in the win.

Franklin, 19 @ Taunton, 4 – FinalMairead Gogeun paced the Panthers’ offense with four goals and one assist and Shannon D’Arcangelo and Grace Platner each found the back of net once as Franklin clinched the outright Kelley-Rex title for the fifth straight season. FHS head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said Kate Morse and Molly O’Reilly both played well defensively in the win. Abbey Kingman scored a pair of goals for the Tigers and Lorna Li came up with 17 saves in the loss.

Eli Brooks won 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 at second singles and Rohan Herur secured a 6-1, 6-1 win at third singles. The team of James Johnston and Derek Wu won 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 at first doubles and Tyler DiPalma and Rahul Hosdurg won 6-4, 6-4 at second doubles.

King Philip, 2 @ Bishop Feehan, 3 – FinalKing Philip earned a pair of singles wins but ultimately fell to Feehan. Cole Ginter won 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 at singles and Martin Matous recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win at third singles.

Foxboro, 4 @ Franklin, 1 – FinalFoxboro swept doubles play and took two wins in singles action to defeat Franklin. Lexi Nelson (second singles) and Julia Muise (third singles) each won 6-0, 6-0. The team of Kayla Prag and Olivia Dantona won 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles and Morgan Krockta and Kendall Milender prevailed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at second doubles. Franklin’s Hannah Sweeney won 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 at first singles.

Taunton, 3 vs. New Bedford, 1 – FinalTaunton jumped out to a 2-0 lead over New Bedford and held on for a 3-1 victory, 25-19, 25-22, 15-25, 25-22. THS coach Toby Chaperon said Mike Fernandez, David Fusiecki, Nick Sorm and Nate Grant each played great all around games, combining for 37 digs, 20 assists, 15 kills, four blocks and three aces.

Stoughton, 5 @ Brockton, 3 – FinalStoughton senior Luke Johnson tossed a complete game and his teammates backed him up with strong defense as the Black Knights punched their ticket to the postseason. Johnson struck out one, scattered eight hits and allowed three runs. Offensively, Ryan Sullivan went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and two RBI, Jack Connelly went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI and Evan Gibb chipped in with two hits and played well defensively behind the plate.

Softball
Foxboro, 7 vs. Westwood, 9 – Final

North Attleboro, 1 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalNorth Attleboro freshman Bella Erti allowed just three hits but thats all the Panthers would need in a close non-league win over the Rocketeers. Big Red took the lead in the top of the fourth when Erti tripled and scored on a double by Sam Courtemanche. Franklin answered in the bottom of the fourth with a single from Olivia DiGiacomo and then a two-run home run by Clara DeCarvalho. Jackie Cherry earned the win for Franklin, striking out six. FHS head coach Kate Fallon-Comeau noted DiGiacomo made some outstanding defensive plays in right field as well.

King Philip, 5 @ Bishop Feehan, 10 – FinalHailey McCasland had two hits and knocked in a pair of runs but the Warriors fell to Feehan. Jess Bonner, Nicole Carter, Bri Lacy and Sydney Phillip also had two hits apiece for King Philip.

Atherton, who earned the win, struck out 10 and helped her cause on offense with a pair of hits, including a double. Offensively, Emily Piergustavo went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBI, Jess Tomaso went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI, Kate Irwin was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI and Kaitlyn DeCapua had two hits and two RBI.

Other winners for Canton include Cordell Smith (high jump, 5’8), Jack Healey (1 mile, 4:57.5), Muhammed Sambo (400M, 52.3), Gerry Sullivan (800M, 2:12.6), Riley McDonnell (200M, 23.8), Colin Messinger (2 mile, 10:38.5) and both the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.

Foxboro, 82 @ Canton, 54 – FinalCanton’s Sarah Collins won a pair of events, qualifying for state in one race, but fell short to Foxboro. Collins qualified for the state tournament in the 400M hurdles, clocking in at 68.8 while also winning the 800M in 2:30.2. Jimisha Williams took first and qualified for states in the 200 at 27.3, Erika Lum won the high jump at 4’10, and Bronwyn Mahoney was a double winner, taking first in the shot put (28’8) and the discus (71’8.5″). Canton’s 4×400 team also clocked in first.

Thursday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 05/04/17

Today’s games are listed below. The list is updated with all changes we have received.

Baseball
Stoughton, 6 @ Canton, 3 – FinalFor the second straight game, Stoughton rallied from a deficit and plated the game-winning runs in the seventh innings. Jackson Maffeo’s three-run home run put the Bulldogs ahead 3-0 but Stoughton chipped away, tying the game with two runs in the sixth and went ahead with three runs in the seventh. Ryan Sullivan and Jack Connelly each had a single in the sixth and both came around to score to tie the game. Nick Hardy doubled to lead off the top of the seventh, advanced to third and came home on a double from Sullivan. Luke Johnson followed with a two-run double to put Stoughton up 6-3. Justin Hutchinson earned his seventh win of the seven, tossing three hitless innings with seven strikeouts. Hutchinson struck out the side in the sixth and retired the side in order in the bottom of the seventh.

Foxboro, 1 @ Mansfield, 2 – FinalMansfield’s Colin Gibbons launched a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Hornets a close win over Foxboro. Mansfield took the lead in the bottom of the second when Anthony DeGiolamo (1-for-2) drove in Cullin Anastsia (2-for-3). Foxboro tied the game in the top of the third when Anthony Mollica knocked in John Cronin. Gibbons finished with two hits in the game. Connor Sheehan earned the win in a complete game effort, allowing just four hits while striking out four.

King Philip, 1 @ Sharon, 3 – FinalSharon junior Max Tarlin tossed a complete game and the Eagles’ offense did all of its damage early to notch a non-league win over KP. Tarlin allows five hits, five walks, one earned run and struck out seven in a complete game effort to earn the win. After Ben Stamm battled for a single, junior Drew Naisuler (2-for-3, double) launched a two-run home run to put the Eagles head. Aiden Arnold (2-for-2) followed that with a triple and scored on a single from Danny Emerman. SHS head coach Kee Arguimbau said senior Jake Marglous played incredible defense at catcher for the Eagles.

Canton, 4 @ Stoughton, 13 – FinalNikki Coppola went 4-for-4 with two triples and four runs scored and Karly Estremera went 4-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI to power the Black Knights offense. Gina Carafa had three hits and three RBI and got the win with six innings of work, striking out nine. Shannon Flaherty also had a pair of hits and drove in two for Stoughton. Canton was led offensively by Molly Loughran, who was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles.

Franklin, 9 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalFranklin scored three runs in the third and added three more in the sixth inning to beat Foxboro in a game continued from Sunday (rain). Franklin held a 1-0 lead when the game resumed. Olivia DiGiacomo (four RBI) went 3-for-4 and put an exclamation point on the day with a bases-clearing double in the sixth inning. Kylie Bouzan added two hits and scored a pair for runs for Franklin. Jackie Cherry pitched four innings, retiring the side in order in the first, second and third innings. Emily Valentino pitched the last three innings and recorded three strikeouts. FHS head coach Kate Fallon Comeau said Tara Hartnett played excellent defense at shortstop.

King Philip, 3 @ Milford, 6 – FinalHolding a 3-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, Milford tacked on three runs and then held off King Philip’s late comeback attempt. Shannon Cormier went 2-for-3 with a stolen base, a run scored and an RBI, Kaitlin DeCapua had an RBI single, Maddy Bonvino had two hits, including a double, and a run scored and Emily Piergustavo reached base four times and scored one run. Ali Atherton (three strikeouts) earned the win, escaping a pair of jams in both the sixth and seventh innings. King Philip’s Hailey McCasland, Jenn Hutnyan, Jess Bonner and Nicole Carter each had two hits apiece for the Warriors.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Walpole, 13 – Final Lexie Campbell had a pair of hits while Victoria Ziner (double), Caroline Mahoney and Katie Mills had recorded one hit for the Tigers.

Taunton, 24 @ New Bedford, 0 – Final (5 Innings)Taunton booked its place in the state tournament with a dominating win against the Whalers. Courtney Fisher and Jaylin Couto combined on a one-hitter and struck out 11 batters. Kya Enos went 3-for-3 with four RBI and homer, Rebekah Lajoie went 5-for-5 with five RBI and a homerun and eighth grader Hannah Aldrich drove in four for the Tigers. Katie Van Zandt (three RBI) and Alexa White also hit homers for Taunton.

Canton, 8 @ Mansfield, 10 – FinalMansfield goalie Sean Powers turned away 12 shots and Sam O’Connell accounted for four points as the Hornets clipped Canton. Tommy Donnelly and Mike Zampine had strong games on defense in front of Powers. O’Connell scored a hat trick and had one assist while Aidan Sacco scored twice and Cullen Murphy, Hunter Ferreira, Joe Cox and Brad Grant each had a goal and an assist. Danny DeGirolamo also scored once for Mansfield.

Torey Lussier won 6-3, 6-1 at first singles, Bri Aronne won 7-5, 6-1 at second singles and Anna Nelson emerged from third singles with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. The team of Taylor Palermo and Merri Piazza nothched a 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 7-5 win at first doubles and seniors Brooklyn Palermo and Cam Liberatore won 6-0, 6-3 at second doubles.

Canton, 3 @ Milford, 2 – FinalCanton swept doubles play and earned a win at third singles to edge Milford on the road. Kiki Karavas won 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 at third singles to help the Bulldogs clinch the match. The team of Julia Burkowsky and Jena Moyle won 7-5, 6-2 and Stelina Michaelidis and Sarah Hernandez won 6-1, 7-5 at second doubles. Milford’s Julie Rabinowitz won 7-5, 6-1 at first singles and Allison Buckenmaier won 6-2, 6-2 at second singles.

Taunton, 5 vs. New Bedford, 0 – FinalTaunton lost just three games in doubles play in a big win over the Whalers. The team of Emily Moor and Ashleigh Eason won without a blemish, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 win at first doubles. Callie Hebert and Jordan Martin recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win at second doubles. In singles play, Olivia Sweeney (first) won 6-1, 6-0, Jordan Pagliuca (second) won 6-3, 6-1 and Jillian Pagliuca (third) won 6-3, 6-2.

Boys Track
Milford, 78 @ Canton, 58 – FinalCanton’s Muhammed Sambo and Cordell Smith each qualified for states but the Bulldogs fell to Milford. Sambo came in first in the 200M at 23.1 while Smith finished first in the high jump (5’10). Gerry Sullivan also came in first for the Bulldogs, clocking in at 2:11.9 in the 800M. Canton swept the 400M hurdles with John Guenthner coming in first (1:01.1), Matt Floyd (1:03.6) coming in second and Riley McDonnell (1:04.00) taking third.

Girls Track
Milford, 78 @ Canton, 58 – FinalCanton’s Bronwyn Mahoney and Sarah Collins each won a pair of events but Milford prevailed with a win. Mahoney took first in the shot put (29’6.5″) and discus (68’8″) and Collins won the 400M hurdles (71.5) and the 800M (2:34.5). Andrea McNeil was first in the one mile (5:57.4) and second in the 800M (2:37.3) and Jimisha Williams crossed first in the 200M (28.0).

Attleboro, 3 @ Foxboro, 4 – FinalFoxboro junior Joe Freitas’ third hit of the game broke a tie game, handing the Warriors the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Freitas (3-for-3) slapped a two-out RBI single to bring the game-winning run home for Foxboro. The Warriors held a 3-1 lead until Attleboro tied the game with two runs in the top of the third. Foxboro’s Colin Thoener tossed a complete game to earn the win, allowing just one hit and no earned runs. He struck out seven.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Canton, 1 – FinalCanton scored an unearned run in the first and that was all that junior Robbie Wilkinson needed, as he tossed a complete game shutout and allowed only four hits on 76 pitches, striking out two. Sophomore Tom Parker was just about as good on the hill for the Tigers, allowing no earned runs and only four hits in the loss. Sam Burr accounted for two hits for the Tigers.

Franklin, 4 @ Sharon, 0 – FinalFranklin junior Bryan Woelfel tossed a complete game shutout and senior Jake Lyons had three hits to pace the Panthers past Sharon. Woelfel earned the win by going the distance, allowing just four hits, two walks and retiring seven batters on strikes. Lyons had a double and a run scored while Ryan Hodgkins had two hits and a run scored and Tyler Gomes went 1-for-1 with a walk and a sacrifice fly.

King Philip, 8 @ North Attleboro, 7 – FinalKing Philip’s offense got off to a strong start with five runs in the first inning but had to rally when the Rocketeers put up seven straight runs. North tied the game with five runs in the second and went up 7-5 on two runs in the fourth. KP tied the game up with two runs in the fifth and knocked in the winning run in the sixth inning. KP totaled 11 hits as a team with Will Weir going 3-for-4, Ben Furfari added two hits and Jeremy Rhines recording two RBI. Jack Webster earned the win in relief while Dan Antunes picked up the save, tossing two innings without giving up a hit.

Mansfield, 12 @ Milford, 4 – FinalMansfield’s offense wasted little time to get going, scoring two runs in the first inning and then adding on three runs in each the second, third and fourth innings. The Hornets tacked on their final run in the sixth. Colin Gibbons had the big day at the plate for Mansfield, going 2-for-4 with five runs knocked in, Anthony DeGirolamo was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and four runs scored, Matt Farragher had four hits and three runs scored and Max Boen recorded three hits and scored three runs. Kevin Dow earned the win, allowing just one earned run in five innings of work. David Simmons was solid in two innings of relief, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.

Taunton, 3 @ Stoughton, 4 – FinalStoughton scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to prevail with a win over Taunton. The Tigers held a 3-1 advantage heading into the final inning but the Black Knights rallied to load the bases. Senior Ryan Sullivan came through and a bases-clearing double to walk off with the win. Ruben Gonzalez knocked in Stoughton’s first run with an RBI double while Pat Hagerty was 2-for-2 with two runs scored for the Black Knights. Justin Hutchinson earned the win in two innings of relief, allowing two hits and retiring three batters on strikes. Tyler Medeiros had a strong outing for the Tigers, striking out six with four hits allowed and just one run in six innings of work.

Softball
Foxboro, 4 @ Attleboro, 8 – Final

Canton, 8 @ Oliver Ames, 11 – FinalOliver Ames surged ahead to take a 9-7 lead in the fifth inning and tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth to beat Canton. Lexie Campbell was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, Caroline Mahoney went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI, Rachel Han had a home run and scored a pair of runs, Kayla Georgeu had one hit, two runs and two RBI and Alyssa Gavin added an RBI.

Sharon, 1 @ Franklin, 7 – FinalFranklin’s offense started strong with a pair of runs in the first inning, tacked on single runs in each the third and the fourth and then put an exclamation point on the win with three more runs in the sixth inning. Jackie Cherry earned the win with five innings of work while Emily Valentino earned the save, retiring all six batters she faced. Alexx Niss went 3-for-4 with four RBI to pace Franklin’s offense while Olivia DiGiacomo was 2-for-4 with three runs and two assists from right field and Ally Shea recorded two hit and an RBI. FHS head coach Kate Fallon-Comeau said Tara Hartnett (shortstop) and Alyssa DaSilva (first) both had strong defense games for the Panthers.

North Attleboro, 5 @ King Philip, 6 – Final King Philip’s Sydney Phillips had a standout performance at the plate, collecting three hits and knocking in two runs to help the Warriors edge Big Red. Nicole Carter also knocked in a pair of runs in KP’s win. Elise Pereira came on in relief and provided two scoreless innings for the Warriors. Ashley Cangiano had a pair of triples and drove in a pair of runs and Sam Courtemanche went 3-for-4 for the Rocketeers. Olivia Capobianco had three stolen bases and two runs scored for North.

Milford, 11 @ Mansfield, 2 – FinalMilford junior Emily Piergustavo hit for the cycle to continue her offense hot streak and the Hawks picked up a big win on the road. Piergsutavo was 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored while Kaitlyn DeCapua also had four hits, scoring once and knocking in three runs. Maggie Farrell was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs score and Maddy Bonvino had two hits, including a triple and an RBI. Kelley Reichert struck out four in a complete game effort to earn the win while also helping the offense with a three-run home run. Sarah Cahill and Caty DeMassi each had a hit Hornets.

Stoughton, 1 @ Taunton, 4 – FinalEighth grader Kelsey White gave up one unearned run and just four hits in her first varsity start. White struck out nine and walked none in a complete game win. Stoughton took the lead but Taunton tied it in the third with a single run and then took the lead in the fifth on an single by Hannah Aldrich that plated pinch runner Alexa White. A leadoff double in the sixth by McKenzie McAloon started a two-run rally that sealed the win for the Tigers. One run scored on an grounder by Jaime Brown and the second on a single by Kya Enos. Stoughton was led offensively by Karly Estremera with two hits and the team’s lone run.

Boys Lacrosse
Attleboro, 2 @ Canton, 6 – Final

Franklin, 19 @ Stoughton, 0 – FinalThirteen different players found the back of the net as Franklin recorded a league win in its first ever meeting with Stoughton. Zach Alexander recorded a hat trick, including one off an assist from his brother Jacob (goal, two assists). Nitin Chaudhury also had a hat trick for the Panthers.

Oliver Ames, 1 @ Mansfield, 13 – FinalTommy Donnelly and Josh London had strong days on defense for the Hornets, who rolled to a big win at home.

North Attleboro, 17 @ Milford, 4 – FinalAndy DeMattio found the back of the net four times, had one assist and scooped up four ground balls to lead the Rocketeers to a big win. Zach McGowan recorded two goals and two assists, Jason McNeany (15 face off wins) scored twice and had one helper, Colin Young, Dan MacDonald and Jack Dackin each scored once and had one assist and Hunter Sarro had a pair of helpers. Nick Ward, Paul Yeomans, Max Fontes, Zac Doucette and Dan Conroy each tallied a goal for the Rocketeers while Jack Connolly had an assist. Jack Puccio (six saves) and Jake McNeany (five saves) split the game in net for North.

Franklin, 15 vs. North Andover, 5 – FinalFranklin sophomore Annie Walsh had a standout performance, netting a team-high six goals to pace the Panthers. Jordan Jette had four assists to go along with one goal, Erin Walsh scored a hat trick and had one helper, Caroline Lounsbury also netted a hat trick and Kelsey MacCallum scored a pair of goals and added one assist. FHS head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said Halle Atkinson had a strong game in the midfield with two draw controls and two ground balls.

King Philip, 21 @ Taunton, 4 – FinalKatie Crowther led the way for King Philip with six goals and the Warriors had 14 different players tally at least one goal. Caroline Watson made eight saves in net for KP while Christina Hathaway scored her first goal. Olivia Tormey and Caroline Klim each scored two goals in the win. Alana Tavares and Delaney Powell each scored a pair of goals for the Tigers and Lorna Li made 19 saves in the loss.

Mansfield, 14 @ Oliver Ames, 10 – FinalOliver Ames’ Kendall Clifford found the back of the net five times and Chloe Kikelly scored a hat trick but the Tigers fell just short to Mansfield. OAHA head coach Abby Tepper said Katie Davenport, Sydney Hedrick, Grace McCallum and Dimitra Efremidis all played great defensively. Ari Waldorf made 15 saves in net for the Tigers.

Milford, 4 @ North Attleboro, 16 – FinalChloe Olsen had three goals and three assists for the Rocketeers. Kenzie Rosenberg and Camille Pizarro each had four goals on the day for North, while Julia Tolfa had a pair of goals and Julia Noreck scored one goal and played stout defense, according to head coach Mike Vitelli.

The team of senior Alex Romantz and freshman Alberto Olivei recorded a 6-3, 6-4 win at first doubles and sophomore Danujan Thirumavalavan and junior Ashwin Sreevatsa took a 6-3, 6-0 win at second doubles.

North Attleboro, 2 @ King Philip, 3 – FinalKing Philip won a pair of matches in singles play and came away with a key win at second doubles to edge Big Red. The team of Aidan Ignatius and Marco DiStefano prevailed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at second doubles for KP while Cole Ginter took a 6-1, 6-1 decision at first singles and Martin Matous notched a 6-3, 6-3 win at third singles. North’s Barsomo Nuay won 6-3, 7-5 at second singles and the team of Daniel Zhang and Ben Pfeffer won 6-2, 6-3 at first doubles.

Stoughton, 1 @ Taunton, 4 – FinalTaunton picked up two wins in singles and two wins in doubles to take down Stoughton. Sophomore Brett Beaulieu won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles and junior Mike Briggs took a 6-2, 6-2 win at second singles. The team of sophomores Dylan Kullas and Charlie Fiske won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles and junior Kyle Dennehy and freshman Alex Pugh won 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 at second doubles.

The team of Olivia Dantona and Morgan Krockta picked up a 6-3, 6-2 decision at first doubles and the team of Jacey Nicklas and Kendall Milender walked away with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Claudia Ferrara won 6-2, 6-2 at second singles and Maura Kiernan took a 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 10-5 win at third singles. The team of Tori Wyman and Tate Hadges notched a 6-3, 6-3 win at first doubles and Kristin Bloumbas and Eva Belanger teamed up for a 6-4, 6-4 win at second doubles. Canton’s Emma Sokolovsky won 6-2, 6-2 at first singles.

Franklin, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – FinalFranklin’s Hannah Sweeney recorded a big win at first singles but Sharon only lost one game total in the other four matches to beat the Panthers. Sweeney won 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 at first singles but Sharon’s Emily Zhang and Lulu Yuan each won 6-0, 6-0 at second and third singles, respectively. The team of Katie Merport and Emily Wen won 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles and Rithika Neti and Sophia Fein paired up for a 6-0, 6-0 win at second doubles.

King Philip, 2 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalNorth Attleboro’s second doubles team of Hana Hershey and Katie Demontigny prevailed in three sets to give Big Red the edge of the Warriors. Hershey and Demontigny won 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 at second doubles while Azka Siddiq and Gabby Duva won 6-0, 6-2 at first doubles. Jordan Willis notched North’s lone in singles with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at second singles. KP’s Becca Ricci won 6-2, 6-4 at first singles and Meghan Sepich won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles.

Mansfield, 4 @ Milford, 1 – FinalMansfield went on the road and swept singles play to notch a win over Milford. Paulina Martin won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, Sarah Doyle won 6-1, 6-0 at second singles and Elizabeth Elsner completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-4 win at third singles. Mansfield’s fourth win came via Chloe Peters and Tessa Garufi, with a 6-1, 6-0 win at first doubles. Milford’s Angela Pillarella and Ashlyn Oliveria won 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 at second doubles.

Taunton, 5 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final – Taunton lost a total of just three games in a convincing win on the road. Vanessa Rosa (third singles) and the team of Ashleigh Eason and Emily Moor (first doubles) both won 6-0, 6-0. Olivia Sweeney (first singles) and Jillian Pagliuca (second singles) each won 6-1, 6-0 while the team of Jordan Martin and Callie Hebert won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles.

Taunton, 3 @ Quincy, 1 – FinalTaunton’s Nate Grant dished out 43 assists and the Tigers notched their second win over Quincy (25-15, 14-25 25-12, 25-20) in less than a week. Grant also had two kills and three blocks while Lance Law had a team-high 15 kills and had one block. Lens Esquil had five blocks as well as 13 kills while David Fusiecki had 10 kills and 11 digs.
