D2 State Semifinal
#2 Canton, 3 vs. #1 Minnechaug, 1 – Final – After splitting the first two sets, Canton won two straight to claim a 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-23, 25-23) win and advance to the D2 State Final for the first time in program history. “This was a competitive match start to finish, I’m so proud of our girls who hung tough no matter the score,” said Canton head coach Pat Cawley. Taylor Harris was immense with 24 kills and 14 digs to lead the Bulldogs while Liz Bickett closed out set three with a block and set three with a kill, finishing with 13 kills, 7 blocks, 15 digs and two aces. Jackie Morrissey distributed the ball well with 35 assists along with 14 digs and three aces. Cawley added Claire Quinn, Angie Elias and Shannon Malloy were strong at the net, and Stephanie Trendell and Nikki Desjardins played super defense. Canton will play Danvers in the D2 State Final on Saturday at 3:00 at Worcester State.
