North Attleboro senior Kelly Colleran has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for April 10 through April 16. Colleran is the 24th player chosen as Player of the Week for the 2022-23 school year and second in the spring season.
Few players are going to have weeks as dominant as the one that the reigning Hockomock League MVP and HockomockSports.com Player of the Year just had. Colleran went 3-0, striking out 63 batters in just 25 innings, walking only four, and tossing a pair of shutouts. At the plate, the BU-commit added six hits, four walks, and three homers, keeping North right in the mix for the Kelley-Rex title.
After a hard-fought, 2-1 loss to defending state champ Taunton (in which Colleran struck out 19, tying her own program-record for most strikeouts in a seven-inning game), North had an 11-inning marathon with Mansfield on Monday. Colleran struck out 28 Hornets, going the distance to pick up the win. On Wednesday, Colleran tied her seven-inning record for the second time in three games, striking out 19 in a 7-0 win over Milford. Batting lead-off, she also went 1-for-2 with two walks, a homer, three runs scored, and a pair of RBI. To close out the week, Colleran needed 80 pitches to earn her second shutout, this time striking out 16 in an 8-0 win against Canton. She also hit a pair of homers, driving in half of North’s runs on the afternoon.
