Mansfield sophomore Paige Austin has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Feb. 1 through Feb. 6. Austin is the 22nd athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year and the eighth in the winter season.
Austin took home the all-around title at the annual Hockomock Gymnastics Championships, held last week at Starland Sportsplex in Hanover. The sophomore also helped the Hornets to a third straight team title. Mansfield, which finished the dual meet season undefeated and won the Davenport division title, edged Kelley-Rex champ Attleboro by less than two points (142.40 – 140.85) to take the crown.
“Paige has been a consistent performer for us all season,” said Mansfield head coach Lauren Dunn. “Her performance of a 38 All Around score at the Hockomock Championships was a huge boost for our team, particularly her 9.75 on the uneven bars.”
Austin won three of the four all-around events and took second in the other, finishing with an overall score of 38.00, nearly two points better than Attleboro’s Raegan Bonneau in second. She took first in the beam with a score of 9.50, had a 9.45 on the floor, and dominated the bars with a score of 9.75 (which was almost a full point higher than the second place gymnast). Austin’s lone event in second was the vault, where she had a score of 9.30 but finished just behind teammate Sophie Moore (9.45). In the first set of MIAA power rankings, Mansfield sat fourth in the South with an average score of 142.95.
