Taunton junior Aniyah Bailey has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for April 26 through May 2. Bailey is the 32nd athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year and the fifth in the spring season.
Bailey has been one of the league’s top hitters since she first stepped into the box three years ago and that’s continued this season. The UMass-commit went 5-for-8 last week with nine RBI, five runs scored, a pair of homers, and two doubles, as Taunton bounced back from a tough loss at New England power LaSalle (RI) with two big wins. The Tigers remain alone in first in the Kelley-Rex division and ranked No. 1 in Div. 1.
“Aniyah has been an absolute force at the plate, consistently delivering when it matters most,” said Taunton head coach Michelle Raposo. “It’s exciting to see her reach 100 career hits while already racking up 31 RBIs this season, plus two home runs this week—including a grand slam — she’s just getting started.”
On Sunday at Brown University, Taunton had its 65-game win streak snapped by LaSalle. Bailey went 1-for-2 with an RBI-double for her 100th career hit and reached on a walk. Three days later, the Tigers bounced back with a dominant win over Mansfield. Bailey went 3-for-4 and drove in six runs against the Hornets. She smacked a two-run homer in the second and followed with a grand slam in the third. She also scored three times and stole a base. On Friday, Taunton handed Norton (the top-ranked team in D3) its first loss of the season. Bailey was 1-for-2 with a walk. She drove in the first run of the game with a double to left and added a second RBI with a sac fly that made it 5-0 in the second.
