Sharon is turning to one of its own to lead the girls basketball program.
Ashley Barron Muñoz, who grew up in Sharon and played for the Eagles for one season, has been hired as the program’s new head coach.
Barron Muñoz replaces Matt Dellabarba, who recently left to take the same position at Norton after four seasons leading the Eagles.

“Returning to Sharon High to lead the girls basketball program is a full-circle moment for me with an immense amount of pride attached to it,” Barron Muñoz told HockomockSports. “Giving back to the town where my athletic career began is very special, and I don’t take the responsibility lightly. For me, this season is all about reaching new levels of individual and team growth, becoming stronger in both our mental and physical game, and building a team with a sense of urgency for change. I’m ready to bring a vibrant, new energy to Sharon girls basketball.”
Barron Muñoz attended Sharon schools from kindergarten through her freshman year of high school. She competed in soccer, baseball, swimming, and basketball while growing up before transferring to St. Johnsbury Academy in Vermont.
She continued her basketball career at Middlebury College, where she was the starting shooting guard from 2005 to 2009. Barron Muñoz still holds the program record with seven three-pointers in a single game.
Barron Muñoz began coaching while she was still at Middlebury after being selected to represent the NESCAC as a coach at the 2008 U.S. Scholar-Athlete Games.
After graduating, she spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Beaver Country Day School. The program won multiple EIL championships during her time on the staff, including a 25-0 season and the Class C NEPSAC championship in 2013.
Barron Muñoz served as the head girls basketball coach at Randolph from 2016 to 2020. After the Blue Devils won two games in her first season, the program improved to double-digit victories and earned its first league win in several years.
For the past four years, Barron Muñoz has worked with players and coaches through skills development clinics for the Sharon Travel Basketball Association, helping her build relationships with many of the players coming through the program.
