Mansfield sophomore Cole Hogencamp has been selected as the 2025 HockomockSports.com Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year. Hogencamp was a force in the attack for the Hornets, who won the Davenport division for the third consecutive season, and earned USA Lacrosse All-American honors.
Fresh off a terrific rookie season last year, Hogencamp picked up right where he left off and recorded his second 100-point season in a row. He’s the only player in the Hock to reach the 100-point milestone in the regular season over the last two years. As one of the best finishers in the state, he finished the season with 81 goals and 49 assists for a league-best 130 points in 22 games.
“Cole was such a dangerous player in the attack that opposing defenses had to account for at all times,” said HockomockSports.com Editor Ryan Lanigan. “And even with defenses giving him extra attention, he was still able to score time after time, and consistently created scoring opportunities for teammates. It didn’t matter where he was around the net, he was always a threat and he had one of the best shots the league has seen in a while.”
Hogencamp has been a crucial piece of the Hornets for the past two seasons, helping the team to a 39-5 record in that span. Despite being only a sophomore, he plays with the poise and confidence of a veteran, anchoring the offense as a balanced and dynamic attack player. With a powerful and accurate shot, he consistently creates scoring opportunities and was recognized as a Hockomock League All Star for the second consecutive year.
Hogencamp is the second straight Mansfield player to earn HockomockSports Player of the Year, following teammate Nico Smith last season. Franklin had the seven winners before that: Luke Davis (2022), Jacob Alexander (2019), Eric Civetti (2018 & 2017), Austin Kent (2016), and Jack Vail (2015 & 2014). Pat Ward of Canton was the inaugural winner in 2013.
Honorable Mentions: Flynn Baker (Franklin), Tommy Kilroy (King Philip), Zach Bernstein (Sharon)

King Philip sophomore Dillon Quinn has been selected as the 2025 HockomockSports.com Boys Lacrosse Underclassman of the Year. Quinn stepped into one of the league’s best defensive units this season and excelled to help the Warriors clinch a share of their first league title since 2014.
“Offensive players often get a lot of the headlines and accolades but when you watched a KP game, it didn’t take long to notice the difference Dillon made defensively,” said HockomockSports Editor Ryan Lanigan. “He consistently smothered opponents, either forcing a pass or causing a turnover, constantly thwarting their offensive game plan. The Warriors have a very solid defensive foundation to build on next year.”
Quinn’s athleticism was evident right from the start of the season and he was able to physically match up with the league’s top attackers. He finished the year with 54 ground balls and 34 forced turnovers, and his accurate passing meant the Warriors could turn those takeaways into transition opportunities. With Quinn contributing, KP allowed only 132 goals in 20 games this season (fewer than seven per game) and reached the Div. 2 Sweet Sixteen. KP also beat rival Franklin for the first time since 2015 (holding the Panthers to just four goals) to secure a piece of the league title.
“Dillon is an exceptional athlete,” said KP coach Hal Bean. “He has great defensive positioning and an extremely accurate stick check. Throughout the season he started many transition plays with his excellent defense that led to a KP goal. He is someone to watch now and in the years to come.”
Quinn is just the third defensive player to earn this recognition, joining Franklin LSM Mike Sullivan (2013) and KP goalie Paul Macrina (2015). He is also the third KP player to have been named Underclassman of the Year in boys lacrosse, along with Johnny Piatelli (2014) and Macrina.

Coach of the Year – Hal Bean, King Philip
King Philip head coach Hal Bean has been named the 2025 HockomockSports.com Boys Lacrosse Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to a share of their first Kelley-Rex division title since 2014 and to the Div. 2 Sweet Sixteen.
“Hal had the Warriors ready to go right from the start of the season,” said HockomockSports.com Managing Editor Josh Perry. “In all facets of the game, KP was tough, focused, and played to its strengths. It was a busy April (12 of the team’s 20 games) but they never let up and pushed through to make sure they were in position to end that title drought at the end of the season.”
The Warriors finished the season 15-5, including 10-1 in the league. KP beat Franklin in the final league game of the season, its first win over its rival since 2015, to clinch a share of the Hock title. Four of KP’s five losses were to teams that reached the quarterfinals in their respective divisions, including semifinalists Mansfield (D2) and Nauset (D3). KP finished the season with the second-most goals scored in the league (248) and the second-fewest allowed (132), controlling games at both ends of the field.
Bean is the first KP coach to receive this award for boys lacrosse, but he is the third KP coach to earn Coach of the Year honors this school year. Gary Pichel (girls soccer) and Jeff Miszkiewicz (girls basketball) were also recognized in their respective sports.
