D2 South

#17 Canton, 6 @ #16 Greater New Bedford, 4 – Final (13 innings) – Joe Bires didn’t have any hits but had a handful of big plays for the Bulldogs. In the bottom of the 7th, Bires turned a double play to prevent a winning run. Bires then threw out the runner at the plate in the bottom of the 10th inning. Bires drew two walks at the plate and scored the Bulldogs’ go-ahead run in the top of the 13th inning. Kevin Powers got the win in relief and brought home Bires in the 13th, getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Pat Vartanian had three hits and also got hit by a pitch in the 13th to bring in a run. Vartanian threw out three base runners from his catcher position.
#6 King Philip, 4 vs. #11 Bishop Feehan, 2 – Final – Renee Poirier went 2-3 with a double, a solo home run and two RBI, Caeli Bench had an RBI and Jenn Hutnyan was 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Kali Magane went the distance, striking out nine in a complete game effort. 
#7 Milford, 6 vs. #10 Quincy, 5 – Final (8 innings) – Freshman Maddie Bonvino hit an RBI single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th inning to complete Milford’s rally. The Scarlet Hawks trailed 4-0 before rallying for four runs in the fifth inning. Kaitlyn DeCapua (2-3) walked and moved to third before freshman Kate Irwin (2-4, R, RBI, SB) beat out the throw for an infield hit to get Milford on the board. Freshman Emily Piergustavo battled through a 13 pitch at-bat to walk before Taylor LeBrun belted a three-run home run to tie the game. Kelley Reichert got the win, going 4.2 innings in relief with three strikeouts. 
#14 Franklin, 2 @ #3 Norwood, 3 – Final
#18 Oliver Ames, 2 @ #2 Silver Lake, 9 – Final – The Tigers stuck close with one of the state’s top teams through four innings before the Lakers got over half of their runs in the fifth. The Tigers scored first in the first inning with Katie Pursley hitting a single and Caroline Mahoney hitting a slow roller causing an overthrow, allowing Pursley to score. Pursley scored both runs for the Tigers, crossing the plate again in the third inning on an RBI single line drive from Mahoney. Pursley was 2-4 Mahoney was 1-3 with two RBI. Kayla Soucie and Missy Krim also had a hit each.

#4 North Attleboro, 2 vs. #13 Framingham, 3 – Final – Senior Kumail Alikhan got his 15th win over the season with a 6-1, 6-3 win at third singles and juniors Jeff Yao and Nick Lockavitch won 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 at second doubles.
