Milford, 2 @ Foxboro, 3 – FinalFoxboro pushed one run across in the first tinning and tacked on two more to close the regular season with a win over Milford. Colin Thoener struck out eight batters in a complete game effort, scattering seven hits and issuing three walks. Senior Mike Saliba gave Foxboro the lead with an RBI single in the first inning while Cam Feldman knocked in the Warriors’ first run in the third inning. Aaron Wentling (2-for-3) doubled in the third and scored on a hit from Rob Theriault (2-for-3) in the third inning. Milford’s Nate Irwin allowed just one earned run in a complete game effort, striking out four. Alex Coady had two hits and Alex Macek added an RBI double for Milford.

Franklin, 7 @ Natick, 2 – FinalFranklin junior Jason Ulrickson allowed just one earned run and senior Jake Lyons knocked in three runs as the Panthers recorded their first win of the day. Ulrickson scattered eight hits, walked two and struck out seven to earn the win. Lyons went 2-for-3, including a triple and also scored a run, Jake Macchi had a double, a run and two RBI and Cam Lupien scored twice and knocked in one run for Franklin.

Franklin, 8 vs. Hopkinton, 0 – FinalThe Panthers picked up their second win of the day, shutting out Hopkinton in the Pedroli Classic championship game. Jake Noviello earned the win with five shutout innings, striking out nine and allowing just three hits and one walk. Bryan Woelfel closed the game with two scoreless innings, striking out three with just two hits allowed. Offensively, Ryan Hodgkins (two RBI), Tyler Gomes (run), Jack Macchi (two RBI, run) and Cam Lupien (two runs) each had two hits for the Panthers.

Milford, 8 @ Sharon, 0 – FinalMilford junior Aidan Wilde made an impact on both the mound and at the plate as the Scarlet Hawks registered a win in their first game of the day. Wilde tossed a one-hitter and walked just one batter while striking out eight in a complete game effort on the mound. At the plate, the junior had two hits, including a triple, scored two runs, knocked in two runs and walked once. Senior Anthony Arcudi added three hits, one run and an RBI, senior Tony Mobilia had two hits, including a double, and scored a run and senior Luke Allgrezza went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

North Attleboro, 6 vs. Bishop Feehan, 5 – FinalBishop Feehan scored a pair of runs in the first inning but the Rocketeers rallied for six straight runs and held off the Shamrocks for the win. Senior Ryan Prince earned the win on the mound for North Attleboro. Offensively, senior Tyler LaFreniere had three hits and two RBI, John Brennan went 2-for-3 and Nick Crawley knocked in a pair of runs on a pair of hits.

Stoughton, 4 @ Whitman-Hanson, 2 – Final (10 inn.)Stoughton loaded the bases in the top of the 10th inning and pushed across two runs to split the season series with Whitman-Hanson. With the game tied 2-2, Ruben Gonzalez (two hits) led off with a single, Ryan Sullivan (two hits) followed with a double and Jack Connelly (two hits) was intentionally walked. After a pair of fielder’s choices, Pat Hagerty drew a walk to push across one run and Luke Johnson scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-2. Johnson earned the win, tossing five scoreless innings in relief. Johnson allowed just two hits and walked one while striking out three.

Softball
Franklin, 3 vs. Abington, 10 – FinalFranklin’s Alexx Niss belted a two-run home run in the top of the first inning but the Green Wave plated three runs in the bottom half and never surrendered the lead the rest of the way.

North Attleboro, 1 vs. Bishop Feehan, 2 – FinalNorth Attleboro tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth inning but Feehan plated the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to pick up the win. Olivia Capobianco and Meg Barlow each singled and Liz Morehouse brought the tying run in with a a sacrifice fly. North freshman Bella Erti scattered seven hits while striking out four, including her 100th of the season. Morehouse and Ashley Cangiano each had a triple in the game while Abby Gallagher recorded a double in the exclusion game.

Taunton, 0 vs. Dighton-Rehoboth, 2 – FinalDighton-Rehoboth scored a pair on unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning to edge out Taunton. THS head coach Dave Lewry said Courtney Fisher pitched a great game, allowing just three hits and striking out eight. Jaime Brown, Katie Van Zandt and McKenzie McAloon each notched two hits for the Tigers.

Girls Tennis
Foxboro, 3 @ North Attleboro, 2 – FinalFoxboro swept singles matches with sophomore Julia Muise prevailing in three sets to clinch the win for the Warriors. Junior Sophia Prinos won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, senior Lexi Nelson won 6-3, 6-0 at second singles and Muise recorded a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win at third singles. North Attleboro’s Katie Demontigny and Azka Siddiq won 6-1, 6-2 at first doubles and the team of Hana Hershey and Shurobhi Nandi won 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5) at second doubles.

Attleboro, 1 @ Taunton, 9 – FinalTaunton grabbed the lead with two runs in the third inning and then broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning and a three-run sixth inning. Tyler Medeiros and William DaRosa each knocked in three runs to pace the Tigers offense while Medeiros earned the win on the mound. Medeiros pitched six innings, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while fanning nine batters. Chris Gomes added three hits and three runs and Jacob Crawford had two hits and three runs scored for the Tigers.

Canton, 0 @ Stoughton, 7 – FinalStoughton senior Ryan Sullivan pitched five scoreless innings to earn his third win of the season. Justin Hutchinson went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple, two runs scored and two RBI. Matt Gallagher and Jack Connelly each pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Black Knights.

Foxboro, 2 @ North Attleboro, 5 – FinalNorth Attleboro plated three runs in the third inning and added two more in the fourth inning to beat Foxboro. Junior Zach DeMattio had a big day at the plate, knocking in four runs and scoring the fifth. In the third, Nick Sinacola (infield hit) and Nate Pearce (single) reached before DeMattio brought both home with a double. DeMattio scored the third run when John Brennan drew a bases loaded walk. In the fourth, Sinacola had another single and DeMattio launched a two-run home run. Sinacola earned the win on the mound, striking out five in four innings of work with just two hits allowed. Peter Cohen allowed one run on two hits and two walks in three innings of relief.

Franklin, 5 @ King Philip, 0 – FinalFranklin junior Jake Noviello tossed a complete game shutout, striking out three while scattering five hits and three walks to earn the win. Offensively, Cam Lupien had a team-high three hits and added an RBI while both Tyler Gomes and Alex Haba had two hits and two runs scored. Franklin clinched the Kelley-Rex division title outright with the win.

Stoughton, 10 @ Canton, 5 – FinalStoughton took a 5-0 lead in the opening innings only to have Canton rally to tie the game in the fourth. The Black Knights regained the lead in the top of the sixth when Alessandra Loffredo beat out an infield single on a two-out grounder that plated Taylor Levine. Karly Estremera went 3-for-4 for Stoughton, scored three runs, and drove in a pair. Brianna Ferrandiz and Jordan Lyons each had two hits and Gina Carafa picked up the win with six strikeouts.

North Attleboro, 11 @ Foxboro, 12 – Final (8 inn.)North Attleboro’s Meg Barlow (three hits) and Bella Erti (two hits) each had a double and home run but the Rocketeers fell in extra innings. Olivia Capobianco also had three hits and Kristina Murphy and Sam Courtemanche each had two hits for North Attleboro.

King Philip, 6 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalFranklin took a 2-1 lead heading into the final inning but KP rallied for five runs to earn the win. Ally Shea scored both runs for the Panthers while Alexx Niss and Clara DeCarvalho each recording an RBI. Olivia DiGiacomo added two hits for Franklin.

Mansfield, 8 vs. St. John’s Shrewsbury, 19 – FinalMansfield was within two at halftime, trailing just 7-5, but the Pioneers pulled away in the second half. Cullen Murphy and Josh London played well defensively in front of Jack Munroe, who played well in net. Sam O’Connell and Hunter Ferreira paced the Hornets’ offense.

Olivia Sweeney won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, Jordan Pagliuca notched a 6-0, 6-1 victory at second singles and Jillian Pagliuca grabbed a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles. Taunton’s first doubles team of Ashleigh Eason and Emily Moor won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles and Caroline Hebert and Jordan Martin secured a 6-1, 6-1 decision at second doubles.

Canton, 4 @ Stoughton, 0 – FinalCanton swept singles play and took one more win in doubles play to beat Stoughton. Emma Sokolovsky won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, Jamie Cree recorded a 3-6, 6-3, 14-12 win at second singles and Kiki Kavaras grabbed a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles. Sophomore Mason Houle followed that up with an RBI single and Sam Larkin brought home the fifth run with a squeeze bunt. Drew Pagano allowed just one run on four hits in six innings of work in his first ever varsity start. Eoin Kelleher pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win. Oliver Ames’ Cam Johnson reached base three times, with one hit and two walks, and also stole a base.

Olivia Capobianco reached four times (three hits) and scored two runs, Andrea Miceli was 3-for-3 with a pair of runs and Abby Gallagher recorded a hit, walked, two RBI and scored two runs. Sam Courtemanche, Kristina Murphy, Liz Morehouse and Meg Barlow all finished with two hits apiece for Big Red. Bella Erti struck out six in four innings of work while Olivia DesRoches pitched a scoreless fifth inning.

Franklin, 3 @ Mansfield, 4 – FinalMansfield scored two runs in the third, added two more in the fourth and never trailed in a close win over Franklin. Marissa Staffier knocked in a pair of runs in the third, bringing home Megan Letendre (double) and Mady Bendanillo (single). In the fourth, Letendre and Bendanillo – who both had two hits on the day – had RBI singles to cap the Hornets’ scoring. Sarah Cahill struck out three while allowing 10 hits in the win. Franklin freshman Anna Balkus went 3-for-3 while Alyssa DaSilva and Alexx Niss (two-run triple)

Rebecca Clayman, Shoshana Lowe and Courtney Sollis all contributed with a triple each. Cook notched 10 strikeouts and scattered five hits in a complete game effort.

Canton, 61 @ Stoughton, 75 – FinalCanton’s John Guenthner and Jack Healey were both double winners; Guenthner clocking in at a personal best 15.9 in the 100M hurdles and also winning the 400M hurdles in 60 while Healey won the 1 Mile (5:00) and the 2 Mile (11:12). Other first place finishes for Canton included Steven Brady (triple jump, 39’1″), Riley McDonnell (200M, 23.8), Marquise Montes (long jump, 18’11.25″) and the 4×100 of Montes, Cordell Smith, Dan Pierre and Dan Alice.

Other first place finishes for the Bulldogs include Nicole Brown (100M, 12.9 – a personal best), Jimisha Williams (200M, 27.1 – a personal best), Bronwyn Mahoney (shot put) and Erika Lum (high jump, 4’10”). Canton’s 4×100 of Lum, Williams, Brown and Claire Belisle) also came in first with a state qualifying time of 51.5.

Oliver Ames, 68 @ Mansfield, 68 – FinalThe Tigers and Hornets finished level in the final dual meet of the season. For Mansfield, Angela Corkery won the javelin with a 20-foot PR, finished second in the triple jump and was a member of the 4×100 relay (with Jordan Brill-Cass, Julia Harrison and Amanda Mangano) that finished first. Madison Haughey won both the high jump and the long jump and finished second in the 100M hurdles.

In the sixth inning, senior Danny Hartnett doubled and senior Jackson Maffeo knocked in the go-ahead run with a single. Sophomore Paul Sullivan pitched three scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.

Foxboro, 0 vs. Dedham, 3 – Final

King Philip, 0 @ Franklin, 6 – FinalFranklin’s offense got off to a strong start, plating five runs in the first inning and tacking on one more in the second to beat King Philip and qualify for the state tournament. Junior Bryan Woelfel tossed a complete game shutout with just three hits allowed, one walk and a pair of strikeouts. The Panthers loaded the bases with Jake Lyons (double), Ryan Hodgkins (hit by pitch) and Jason Ulrickson (bunt single) reaching base. Josh Macchi followed with an RBI single, Tyler Gomes knocked in a run with a sac fly and sophomore Alex Haba drove in two with a double. James Leofanti doubled to move Haba to third and Jake Macchi’s sacrifice fly brought Haba home. In the second inning, Ulrickson doubled to score Lyons. King Philip’s Dan Antunes tossed 4.2 scoreless innings of relief for the Warriors.

Alexx Niss also had a hit and brought in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Milford, 5 @ St. Peter Marian, 2 – FinalAli Atherton scattered six hits in a complete game effort, striking out four in the win. Offensively, Maggie Farrell stroked three hits, including two doubles, while also scoring a run. Jess Tomaso added two hits (double), knocked in two runs and scored once, Emily Piergustavo knocked in a run, scored a run and had one hit and Emily Hartman notched an RBI double.

Sharon, 5 @ Ursuline, 4 – FinalSharon’s Clara Cook struck out a season-high 15 batters to help the Eagles edge Ursuline on the road. Cook tossed a complete game to earn the win. Offensively, Sam Marglous went 2-for-4 with a pair of base hits and scored a run, and Alli Small, Rebecca Clayman, Shoshana Lowe and Sarah Levitt each had a single for Sharon.

Franklin, 14 vs. Algonquin, 6 – FinalFranklin goalie Connor O’Rourke made eight saves the FHS head coach Lou Verrochi praised the defensive effort of his team’s defense as the Panthers picked up a key non-league win. Based on North Attleboro’s win over King Philip, the Panthers clinched at least a share of the Kelley-Rex division title. Eric Civetti had his way on the offensive end, netting eight goals with one assist and Sam Arsenault and Nitin Chaudhury each scored once and had two assists. Packie Watson found the back of the net twice and Kyle McEniry had two helpers; Johnny O’Glishen and Pat Morrison each tallied a goal as well.

Freitas (3-for-3) slapped a two-out RBI single to bring the game-winning run home for Foxboro. The Warriors held a 3-1 lead until Attleboro tied the game with two runs in the top of the third. Foxboro’s Colin Thoener tossed a complete game to earn the win, allowing just one hit and no earned runs. He struck out seven.

Sophomore Tom Parker was just about as good on the hill for the Tigers, allowing no earned runs and only four hits in the loss. Sam Burr accounted for two hits for the Tigers.

Franklin, 4 @ Sharon, 0 – FinalFranklin junior Bryan Woelfel tossed a complete game shutout and senior Jake Lyons had three hits to pace the Panthers past Sharon. Woelfel earned the win by going the distance, allowing just four hits, two walks and retiring seven batters on strikes. Lyons had a double and a run scored while Ryan Hodgkins had two hits and a run scored and Tyler Gomes went 1-for-1 with a walk and a sacrifice fly.

King Philip, 8 @ North Attleboro, 7 – FinalKing Philip’s offense got off to a strong start with five runs in the first inning but had to rally when the Rocketeers put up seven straight runs. North tied the game with five runs in the second and went up 7-5 on two runs in the fourth. KP tied the game up with two runs in the fifth and knocked in the winning run in the sixth inning. KP totaled 11 hits as a team with Will Weir going 3-for-4, Ben Furfari added two hits and Jeremy Rhines recording two RBI. Jack Webster earned the win in relief while Dan Antunes picked up the save, tossing two innings without giving up a hit.

Mansfield, 12 @ Milford, 4 – FinalMansfield’s offense wasted little time to get going, scoring two runs in the first inning and then adding on three runs in each the second, third and fourth innings. The Hornets tacked on their final run in the sixth. Colin Gibbons had the big day at the plate for Mansfield, going 2-for-4 with five runs knocked in, Anthony DeGirolamo was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and four runs scored, Matt Farragher had four hits and three runs scored and Max Boen recorded three hits and scored three runs. Kevin Dow earned the win, allowing just one earned run in five innings of work. David Simmons was solid in two innings of relief, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.

Taunton, 3 @ Stoughton, 4 – FinalStoughton scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to prevail with a win over Taunton. The Tigers held a 3-1 advantage heading into the final inning but the Black Knights rallied to load the bases. Senior Ryan Sullivan came through and a bases-clearing double to walk off with the win. Ruben Gonzalez knocked in Stoughton’s first run with an RBI double while Pat Hagerty was 2-for-2 with two runs scored for the Black Knights. Justin Hutchinson earned the win in two innings of relief, allowing two hits and retiring three batters on strikes. Tyler Medeiros had a strong outing for the Tigers, striking out six with four hits allowed and just one run in six innings of work.

Canton, 8 @ Oliver Ames, 11 – FinalOliver Ames surged ahead to take a 9-7 lead in the fifth inning and tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth to beat Canton. Lexie Campbell was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, Caroline Mahoney went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI, Rachel Han had a home run and scored a pair of runs, Kayla Georgeu had one hit, two runs and two RBI and Alyssa Gavin added an RBI.

Sharon, 1 @ Franklin, 7 – FinalFranklin’s offense started strong with a pair of runs in the first inning, tacked on single runs in each the third and the fourth and then put an exclamation point on the win with three more runs in the sixth inning. Jackie Cherry earned the win with five innings of work while Emily Valentino earned the save, retiring all six batters she faced. Alexx Niss went 3-for-4 with four RBI to pace Franklin’s offense while Olivia DiGiacomo was 2-for-4 with three runs and two assists from right field and Ally Shea recorded two hit and an RBI. FHS head coach Kate Fallon-Comeau said Tara Hartnett (shortstop) and Alyssa DaSilva (first) both had strong defense games for the Panthers.

North Attleboro, 5 @ King Philip, 6 – Final King Philip’s Sydney Phillips had a standout performance at the plate, collecting three hits and knocking in two runs to help the Warriors edge Big Red. Nicole Carter also knocked in a pair of runs in KP’s win. Elise Pereira came on in relief and provided two scoreless innings for the Warriors. Ashley Cangiano had a pair of triples and drove in a pair of runs and Sam Courtemanche went 3-for-4 for the Rocketeers. Olivia Capobianco had three stolen bases and two runs scored for North.

Milford, 11 @ Mansfield, 2 – FinalMilford junior Emily Piergustavo hit for the cycle to continue her offense hot streak and the Hawks picked up a big win on the road. Piergsutavo was 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored while Kaitlyn DeCapua also had four hits, scoring once and knocking in three runs. Maggie Farrell was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs score and Maddy Bonvino had two hits, including a triple and an RBI. Kelley Reichert struck out four in a complete game effort to earn the win while also helping the offense with a three-run home run. Sarah Cahill and Caty DeMassi each had a hit Hornets.

Stoughton, 1 @ Taunton, 4 – FinalEighth grader Kelsey White gave up one unearned run and just four hits in her first varsity start. White struck out nine and walked none in a complete game win. Stoughton took the lead but Taunton tied it in the third with a single run and then took the lead in the fifth on an single by Hannah Aldrich that plated pinch runner Alexa White. A leadoff double in the sixth by McKenzie McAloon started a two-run rally that sealed the win for the Tigers. One run scored on an grounder by Jaime Brown and the second on a single by Kya Enos. Stoughton was led offensively by Karly Estremera with two hits and the team’s lone run.

Jordan Jette had four assists to go along with one goal, Erin Walsh scored a hat trick and had one helper, Caroline Lounsbury also netted a hat trick and Kelsey MacCallum scored a pair of goals and added one assist. FHS head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said Halle Atkinson had a strong game in the midfield with two draw controls and two ground balls.

King Philip, 21 @ Taunton, 4 – FinalKatie Crowther led the way for King Philip with six goals and the Warriors had 14 different players tally at least one goal. Caroline Watson made eight saves in net for KP while Christina Hathaway scored her first goal. Olivia Tormey and Caroline Klim each scored two goals in the win. Alana Tavares and Delaney Powell each scored a pair of goals for the Tigers and Lorna Li made 19 saves in the loss.

Mansfield, 14 @ Oliver Ames, 10 – FinalOliver Ames’ Kendall Clifford found the back of the net five times and Chloe Kikelly scored a hat trick but the Tigers fell just short to Mansfield. OAHA head coach Abby Tepper said Katie Davenport, Sydney Hedrick, Grace McCallum and Dimitra Efremidis all played great defensively. Ari Waldorf made 15 saves in net for the Tigers.

Grant also had two kills and three blocks while Lance Law had a team-high 15 kills and had one block. Lens Esquil had five blocks as well as 13 kills while David Fusiecki had 10 kills and 11 digs.

Kevin Cambrola earned the win in relief for the Scarlet Hawks, shutting down the Bombardiers’ offense. Ryan Goncalves, Alex Macek and Luke Allegrezza each had two hits for Milford while the Hawks capitalized on five Attleboro errors and seven walks.

Canton, 0 @ Taunton, 15 – Final (6 inn.)Taunton scored five runs in the first inning to set the tone and tacked on runs in all other innings except one to beat Canton. Christian Simoes had an impressive day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBI to pace the Tigers’ offense. Jimmy Hoye was 4-for-4 with two RBI and two run scored, Joe Manchester was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, Billy DaRosa had two hits and two RBI and Matt Machado had two hits and two runs scored. Sophomore Griffin Tomaszycki tossed a six inning shutout in his first career start, allowing six hits while recording six strikeouts.

Foxboro, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – Final (8 inn.)Oliver Ames rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the games to extra innings and won with an infield hit an inning later. Senior Cam Johnson came through with the tying hit, driving in Mitch Goulet (walk) and Kyle Gagliardi (single) to tie the game. In the bottom of the eighth, Alden Newman led off with a single, moved to second on a hit batter, moved to third on a sacrifice and beat the tag at home on an infield hit from Gagliardi.

Stoughton, 3 @ Franklin, 4 – FinalFranklin sophomore Jake Macchi delivered a double in the bottom of the sixth inning, knocking in classmate Alex Haba for the go-ahead run to break a 3-3 game and give the Panthers the lead. Bryan Woelfel earned the save with a scoreless seventh inning. Junior Jason Ulrickson earned the win following a tremendous outing, striking out 10 while allowing just four hits and two walks. Jake Lyons added a double and a run scored for Franklin. Ruben Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored an RBI and Evan Gibb had a two-run double to tie the game for Stoughton.

Sharon, 4 @ King Philip, 10 – FinalKing Philip’s offense erupted for six runs in the sixth inning to break open a tie game. With the Eagles and Warriors knotted at 4-4, King Philip’s bats came to life to plate the go-ahead run and tacked on five more. Chris Wing tossed a complete game, striking out six with three earned runs allowed. Wing also collected two hits at the plate while Stephen Murray went 3-for-3 and Will Weir went 2-for-2.

North Attleboro, 3 @ Mansfield, 5 – FinalNorth Attleboro got off to a good start wtih a run in the top of the first inning but Mansfield with three runs in the bottom half and never surrendered the lead. Big Red came back to tie the game in the top of the third, but Mansfield plated what turned out to be the game winning run in the bottom half. The Hornets tacked on an insurance run in the sixth. Kyle Moran (2-for-3, run) doubled in Colin Gibbons (two runs, RBI) for the game-winner. Zack Peterson also went 1-for-3 with two RBI for Mansfield. Nolan Dousa earned the win, striking out eight with three earned runs allowed.

Jaime Brown (triple, RBI), Liana Duarte (three RBI), and MacKenzie Handrahan (double, RBI) each had two hits, while Couto blasted a three-run home run to lead Taunton’s offensive attack.

Lizzie Miller added two hits and a run scored, Caroline Mahoney had two hits and Rachel Han went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Kara Bendanillo drove in the first Mansfield run with a bases loaded walk in the fourth and Megan Letendre singled in a second. The Hornets added two more in the fifth on an overthrow and a wild pitch. Letendre and Marissa Staffer each had two hits for Mansfield, which finished with eight as a team.

The Panthers raced out to a 5-1 lead after the first two quarters. Eric Civetti scored a game-high four goals and had one assist, Sam Arsenault scored once and had three helpers, Packie Watson notched two goals and one assist, Chase Tanner found the back of the net twice and Nitin Chaudhury had one goal and one assist for Franklin. FHS head coach Lou Verrochi praised the work of sophomore Pat Morrison, saying “he was a beast in close defense.” Connor O’Rourke made eight saves in net and sophomore Jacob Alexander won 13 of 18 faceoffs for Franklin.

Junior Sophia Prinos won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, senior Lexi Nelson won 6-0, 6-2 at second singles and junior Kayla Prag took a 6-3, 6-4 decision at third singles. The team of juniors Morgan Krockta and Olivia Dantona won 6-3, 6-1 at second doubles and sophomore Kendall Milender and senior Jacey Nicklas earned a 7-5, 6-0 victory at second doubles for the Warriors.

Stoughton, 1 @ Franklin, 4 – FinalFranklin seniors Madison Derby and Julia Hogan won a tightly contested match at first doubles in a 10 set tiebreaker to punctuate the Panthers’ win over Stoughton. Derby and Hogan won 7-5, 5-7, 10-6 while juniors Hailey Strier and Jillian McLaughlin won 6-3, 6-1 at second doubles. Hannah Sweeney didn’t lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles and senior Anja Deric won 6-0, 6-2 at second singles. Stoughton senior Ally Swartz won 6-4, 6-0 at third singles for the Black Knights.

Sharon, 5 @ King Philip, 0 – FinalSharon’s three singles players didn’t lose a single game in a dominating performance on the road. Nupur Shukla (first singles), Emily Zhang (second singles) and Lulu Yuan (third singles) each won 6-0, 6-0. The team of Katie Merport and Emily Wen won 6-3, 6-1 at first doubles and Rithika Neti and Sophia Fein teamed up for a 6-2, 6-1 victory at second doubles.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Mansfield, 0 – FinalNorth Attleboro won all five matches in straight sets with its first doubles pair winning without dropping a game. Katie Demontigny and Azka Siddiq won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles for Big Red. Attleboro, 13 @ Dartmouth, 7 – Final – Sophomore Dakota Kirby knocked in a team-high four runs on three hits to lead the Bombardiers. Nate Tellier went 2-3 with a pair of RBI, pair of runs and pair of stolen bases while Robbie Araujo went 3-5 with an RBI.

Canton, 7 vs. Cohasset, 0 – Final – Canton senior Kevin Powers allowed just three hits in a complete game shutout effort, striking out six on 73 pitches for the win. Jim Jenkins was a perfect 3-3 at the plate with a pair of singles and a double, Matt Casamento went 2-2 with a stolen base and two runs scored and Jimmy Hamrock scored a run.

Sharon, 5 @ King Philip, 3 – FinalThe Eagles scored three runs in the third and added two more in the fifth to build the lead. Sharon freshman left handed pitcher Noah Kamens made his varsity debut, tossing 5.2 innings for his first career win. Jordan Chabot went 2-4 with a double and a triple and knocked in three runs for Sharon.

Stoughton, 1 @ Brockton, 0 – Final – Stoughton’s Justin Hutchinson tossed a one-hit complete game shutout, striking out five to lead the Black Knights to a win at Campanelli Stadium. Stoughton’s lone run came in the top of the second when Ryan Sullivan reached on a fielder’s choice. Joe Piana’s two out RBI single plated Sullivan for the lone run of the game.

Softball
Attleboro vs. Dartmouth, 4:00

Franklin, 3 vs. Bridgewater-Raynham, 2 – Final – After Bridgewater-Raynham opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a run, Franklin replied right away in the bottom half. Allie Shea led off with a single and Clara DeCarlvalho reached on an error. Alexx Niss then smashed a three run home run over the fence in centerfield. Caroline D’Aprile struck out five to get the win for Franklin. DeCarvalho also threw out two runners trying to steal with freshman Tara Hartnett applying the tags.

Mansfield, 3 @ Milford, 8 – Final – Maggie Farrell launched a three run home run to center field in the fifth inning, turning a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead and the Scarlet Hawks never looked back. Farrell went 2-4 with four RBI, also having a triple. Kate Irwin went 3-4 with a double, Jess Tomaso was 1-3 with a double, Megan Jacques went 1-2 with an RBI, a double and a walk and Emily Piergustavo went 2-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Ali Atherton struck out a career-high 14 batters, allowing just one earned run. Mansfield’s Maddie Letendre struck out five while allowing 10 hits.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ Weymouth, 3 – Final – OA’s Victoria Ziner was 2-3 with a double and a solo home run, Katie Pursley was 2-3 with a double, Jordyn Leite was 1-1 with a nice shot to center, and Dalene Gomes knocked in Sarah Tetrault on a suicide squeeze in the 7th. Kayla Georgeu pitched six innings for the Tigers striking out 5 and allowing only one earned run.

Sharon, 2 vs. Milton, 10 – Final – Senior catcher Rachel Usen went 3-for-4 (a double and two singles) with an RBI for the Eagles in the loss. Freshman Jody Goldenberg had an RBI double and sophomore Sam Marglous added a double and a run scored for Sharon.

Taunton, 24 @ Durfee, 0 – Final (5 inn.) – Jordan Wade hit a pair of home runs, knocking in four runs to lead Taunton’s offensive outburst. Courtney Fisher improved to 6-0 in the circle, allowing just one hit and striking out seven. Amber Wainwright had three hits, including a triple and two RBI, Bailey Clapp had three hits and two RBI, Sarah Bagge reached base five times, with two hits and five RBI and Aimee Kistner had two hits and an RBI.

Cole Ginter won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, Garrett Schneider won 6-2, 6-0 at second singles and Blake Ginter won 6-0, 6-1 at third singles. Ryan Colella and Ryan Gemelli won 6-1, 6-2 at first doubles and Justin Rohan and Marco DiStefano won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles.

Boys Volleyball
Milford, 1 @ Taunton, 3 – Final – The teams split the first two games but Taunton followed up with two straight wins to get the victory with a 25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19 decision. David Perry stepped up on senior night for Taunton with 12 kills and 14 digs. Lance law added 18 kills, an ace and 14 digs and Lens Esquil had 12 kills and a block.

Stoughton, 8 @ Canton, 5 – Final – Stoughton’s Nico Parmeggiani improved to 5-0 on the season, tossing 5.1 innings with just three earned runs allowed. Pat Hagerty paced Stoughton’s offense from the lead off spot, going 3-4 with an RBI and a stolen base and Ryan Sullivan also added three hits, a stolen base and a run scored for the Black Knights. Joe Piana broke up a 2-2 game in the fifth inning with a two run single, Justin Hutchinson had a pair of hits and Doug Seaman (2-4, two RBI) helped cement the win with a home run in the top of the seventh.

Foxboro, 1 @ Sharon, 0 – Final – Aaron Wentling dazzled on the mound, striking out seven in a complete game two-hit shutout effort for the Warriors. Foxboro’s lone run came via junior Cam Feldman with an RBI fielder’s choice.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Franklin, 6 – Final – North Attleboro plated four runs in the first inning but Franklin’s bullpen limited the Rocketeers to just three hits over the final 6.2 innings and the Panthers offense chipped away to get the win and qualify for the state tournament. Bryan Woelfel came in with one out and the bases loaded in the first and was able to limit the damage for Franklin. Woelfel went five innings, allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out three. Ryan Morse got the win, allowing just a hit in 1.2 innings. Franklin scored a run in the first, two more in the third and two more in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. North tied the game in the top of the sixth but sophomore Steven Luttazi scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth for the Panthers. Sophomore Jason Ulrickson went 2-3 and knocked in a pair of runs, Mike Skaza was 1-1 with a pair of walks, an RBI and a run scored and Tyler Gomes went 1-3 with an RBI and a double. Ryan Hodgkins (2-4) scored twice for Franklin and Cam Benham scored once. Andy Katch went 2-3 for North while Zach DeMattio had two RBI for Big Red.

Oliver Ames, 10 @ Milford, 4 – Final – Senior Kevin Geary notched his first career win on the mound as the Tigers rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take the lead. Sophomore Matt Muir cleared the bases with a three run triple, giving the Tigers the lead. Chris Romero, Josh Minuskin and Ryan Adams each had three hits on the day for OA while Muir, Matt Mancini and Chris Pearsons each had two.

Softball
Mansfield, 6 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Mansfield senior Maddie Letendre tossed her first no-hitter of the season, striking out seven in the win. The Hornets took a 1-0 lead in the fifth and then tacked on five more runs in the sixth. Consecutive singles from Bri Homer, Jocelyn Reardon and Marissa Staffier resulted in the first run. In the sixth inning, Kara Bendanillo singled, Mady Bendanillo walked, Maddie Letendre had an RBI single, Rachel Carafa had a two RBI single, Reardon knocked in a pair with a double, Marissa Staffier knocked in another run and Megan Letendre singled.

Canton, 3 @ Stoughton, 7 – Final – Karly Estremera and Sam Tullis set the pace for Stoughton’s offense, each scoring two runs each. Estremera hit a triple and stole two bases including a delayed steal of home while Sam Tullis added a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fifth. Gina Carafa pitched seven innings, striking out five while giving up one earned run.

Sharon, 1 @ Foxboro, 9 – Final – Foxboro celebrated its seniors with a hit parade, totaling 12 as a team. Emma Rohan struck out 10 while allowing just three base runners (two hits and a walk). Offensively, Kelli McCarthy went 2-4 with two RBI, Hannah Davis was 3-4 with a home run, a pair of doubles and three RBI, Kelly Fisher and Kayley Tran each went 2-4 while Chelsea Gibbons was 2-3 on the day for the Warriors.

North Attleboro, 4 @ Franklin, 5 – Final – The Panthers used a suicide squeeze to score the winning run in bottom of the seventh for the win. Olivia DiGiacomo laid down a bunt with one out to score courtesy runner Kerry Blaney for the win. Maddie Connelly got things started in the final inning with a lead off double and moved to third on a single from Clara DeCarvalho (2-4, RBI double), who moved to second on the throw. A passed ball gave Franklin a shot to score the run but North was able to get the runner at home. After a walk to Alexx Niss (2-3, RBI double), DiGiacomo squeezed in the run. Before the winning run, Franklin rallied from a 4-2 deficit to tie the game in the sixth. Olivia Haba (2-3) led off with a single and pinch hitter Kim Moulton blasted a two-run home run to the game. Caroline D’Aprile got the win for Franklin, striking out five. Meg Barlow had three hits for the Rocketeers and Mycala Moody and Kaylea Sherman each had two.

Taunton, 2 @ King Philip, 0 – Final – Strong defense helped anchor Taunton’s season sweep over the Warriors. Taunton head coach Dave Lewry said Jordan Wade played great at shortstop and Meghan Navarro did the same at second base. Lewry also pointed to Bailey Clapp’s outfield assist in the fifth, throwing out a runner with Sarah Bagge applying the tag at home. Aimee Kistner struck out four, allowing three hits in a complete game shutout. Liana Duarte went 2-4 with a run scored and a stolen base, Jaime Brown was 1-3 with a double and Bagge went 2-3.

Milford, 15 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final (5 inn.) – Milford clinched at least a share of its fourth straight Davenport title, winning at least a share of the division ever since joining the Hockomock. Jess Tomaso was a perfect 4-4 at the plate, including a two run home run, and finished with five RBI. Kaitlyn DeCapua knocked in four runs on three hits, including a double, while Megan Jacques went 2-4 with an RBI. Kelley Reichert struck out four while scattering three hits for Milford. Jamie Gottwald went 2-2 with an RBI and a double for OA.

Foxboro, 6 @ Mansfield, 10 – Final – Mansfield built a 9-1 lead in the fourth quarter and held off a late push by the Warriors. Ryan Smith had two goals and two assists to lead the Hornets while Connor Finerty also found the back of the net twice. Josh Schafer, Sam O’Connell, Hunter Ferreira (two assists), Joe Cox, Billy Grant and Jon Reed each scored once for Mansfield. Sean Powers made 13 saves in net for the Hornets.

Franklin, 13 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final

North Attleboro, 6 @ King Philip, 8 – Final – King Philip built a 4-1 lead by the end of the first quarter and never trailed in a battle against North Attleboro. Senior Sam Agricola led the way offensively with three goals and an assist and junior Tim Watson potted two goals and had one assist. Harry Fallon had two helpers for KP while Anthony Truini, John DeLuca and Zach D’Amico (six ground balls) each scored once. Steven Eaton led the Warriors with 10 ground balls and KP head coach Jacob Kravitz praised the work of sophomore midfielder Nate Minkwitz (five ground balls) for his excellent defense.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ Franklin, 16 – Final – Franklin senior Abby Egan netted a hat trick, Julia Jette also scored a hat trick and had two assists and freshman Hailey Toolin scored her first career goal for the Panthers. Oliver Ames’ Erin Fitzgerald netted her 100th career goal for the Tigers in the game while Kendall Clifford also scored and Abby Duvall and Olivia Piazza each had an assist. OA’s Ariana Waldorf had 21 saves in net.

Senior Adam Dobbin and junior Alex Romantz won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles and senior Tilah Mehta and freshman Danujan Thirumavalavan won 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles.

Franklin, 4 @ North Attleboro, 1 – Final – The Panthers clinched at least a share of the Kelley-Rex crown for the second straight year with the win. Junior Rahul Herur won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, at first singles and freshman Dan Barrow battled to a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at third singles. Franklin swept doubles play with Tom Mancini and James Johnston winning 6-1, 6-4 at first doubles and Cam Piana and Jeremy Gan winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 at second doubles. North Attleboro’s Zack Pfeffer won 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 at second singles for Big Red.

Mansfield, 5 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Mansfield kept its postseason hopes alive with a win on the road. Paulina Martin won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, Kathleen Giffels won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles and Sarah Doyle picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles. Cathryn Heavey and Chloe Peters won 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles for Mansfield and freshmen Tessa Garufi and Elizabeth Elsner won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles.

Canton, 4 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – The Bulldogs got a clean sweep in singles play and earned another win at doubles to beat Stoughton. Carly Scanlon won 6-2, 6-1 at first singles, Skyler Jabbour won 6-1, 6-0 at second singles and Jude Aboukhater won 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. Canton’s Tiffany Ha and Sarah MacQuarrie won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles. Stoughton’s Kathleen Lapommeray and Amanda Galant won 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) at second doubles.

Sharon, 3 @ Foxboro, 2 – Final – Sharon clinched the Davenport division title for the second straight year, this time winning it outright. The Eagles swept doubles play while freshman Nupur Shulka rallied from a 1-5 deficit in the second set at second singles to secure the win for Sharon.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Franklin, 0 – Final – North Attleboro and Franklin battled under the lights at the new courts at FHS. North Attleboro’s Julia Mark won 6-4, 6-4 at first singles, Jordan Willis won 6-0, 6-2 at second singles and Allie Grinavic swept 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. The team of Jhanavi Kapadia and Emily Chiasson won 7-5, 6-3 at first doubles and Gabby Duva and Katie Demontigny secured a 6-3, 6-2 win at second doubles for the Rocketeers.

Milford, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – Final – The Tigers swept singles play to secure a win over the visiting Scarlet Hawks. Riley Spillane won 6-0, 2-6, 6-0 at first singles, Valeria Tueme won 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 at second singles and Sarah Leger took a 6-4, 6-3 decision at third singles. Milford’s Julie Rabinowitcz and Megan Cafarella won 6-0, 6-7 (4-7), 7-5 win at first doubles and Kate Rosenblatt and Victoria Beyer won 6-4, 6-2 at second doubles.
