Oliver Ames, 5 @ Mansfield, 1 – FinalOliver Ames senior Sam Burr allowed just four bases runners in six innings of work, striking out two to earn the win. The Tigers did the majority of their damage in the first inning, scoring four runs and adding one more in the fourth. Mitch Goulet went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Alden Newman had two hits, a stolen base and an RBI for OA.

Sharon, 2 @ North Quincy, 0 – Final (8 inn.)

Softball
Attleboro, 1 @ Taunton, 11 – FinalTaunton belted out 16 hits as a team and senior Courtney Fisher struck out a season-high 11 batters as the Tigers secured a win under the lights at Jack Tripp Field. Eighth grader Hannah Aldrich led the way with four RBI on two hits, including a triple, while Jaime Brown, Liana Duarte, Kya Enos and MacKenzie Handrahan all had two hits and an RBI in the win. Katie Van Zandt drove in two more runs for the Tigers. Fisher allowed just three hits in the win.

Foxboro, 1 @ King Philip, 10 – FinalWith the win, KP clinched the outright Kelley-Rex division title. It is KP’s 10th league title in the past 11 seasons. Click here for photos from the game.

Franklin, 0 @ Bishop Feehan, 1 – FinalFranklin junior Jackie Cherry and sophomore Ally Shea both played well for the Panthers according to FHS coach Kate Fallon-Comeau.

Mansfield, 4 @ Holliston, 0 – FinalSarah Cahill gave up only four hits to pick up the shutout. Mackenzie Burke drove in the first run in the first inning and Mady Bendanillo made it 2-0 scoring on a dropped third strike. In the seventh, Mansfield doubled its lead when Mady Bendanillo sinlged home her sister Kara and Megan Letendre scored on a groundout. Kara Bendanillo went 3-for-3 on the day to lead the Hornets offensively.

Oliver Ames, 6 vs. Walpole, 9 – FinalOliver Ames jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning but were forced to bring around a sixth run in the fourth inning to knot the game 6-6. Walpole went on to score one run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to secure the win. Victora Ziner had a double and a run scored while Katie Abreu, Caroline Mahoney and Kayla Georgeu each knocked in a run and scored. Katie Mills added two RBI and Lexie Campbell plated Lizzie Miller for OA’s sixth run. Click here for photos from the game.

Stoughton, 0 @ North Attleboro, 6 – FinalNorth Attlebor freshman Bella Erti fanned 10 batters while allowing six hits to lead the Rocketeers to a win. Olivia Capobianco cleared the bases with a double, Liz Morehouse and Kristina Murphy had two hits apiece and Ashley Cangiano and Katherine Munley each scored a pair of runs. Karly Estremera, Bri Ferrandiz, Shannon Flaherty, Jordan Lyons, Nikki Coppola, and Haley Stone had hits for the Black Knights and head coach Tim Norton said Loffredo had a good game in the field as well.

Sharon, 0 @ Milford, 6 – Final (3 inn.)Milford’s Jess Tomaso connected for a pair of singles and knocked in a run as Milford notched a win at home as the away team. Emily Piergustavo added a triple, an RBI and a run scored and Kate Irwin had two RBI. Ali Atherton struck out four in two innings of work.

Canton, 6 @ Abington, 9 – Final

Stoughton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 14 – FinalNorth Attleboro’s Andy DeMattio deposited a hat trick and added one assist to lead the Rocketeers to their final league win of the season. Jack Dakin, Nick Ward, Jason McNeany (12 face off wins), Jack Connolly and Tommy Lindstrom each had two points, scoring once and recording an assist. Dan MacDonald scored once and had two assists while Damien Curtis, Owen Costello, Hunter Sarro, Zac Doucette and Ramssey Francois each scored once.

North Attleboro, 16 @ Norton, 5 – FinalNorth had 12 different goal scorers to beat Norton. Camille Pizarro was the top scorer for North with three goals.

Taunton, 13 vs. Coyle & Cassidy, 1 – FinalDelaney Powell capped off the season for Taunton with five goals and an assist to lead the Tigers to a seventh win on the season. Abbey Kingman added two goals and two assists and Bre Conlon and Annie Tate also had a pair of goals apiece. Hannah Moniz and Rosemary McGrath also scored for Taunton.

Boys Tennis
King Philip, 3 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalKing Philip’s second doubles pairing of Aidan Ignatius and Marco DiStefano rolled to a straight set win over Franklin just this past Friday. Trailing 1-4 in the second set against a new Franklin duo, the pair rallied and earned a 6-2, 6-4 win and clinching the Warriors at least a share of the Kelley-Rex title. It marks KP’s first league title since 2013. Cole Ginter (first singles, 6-4, 6-1) and Martin Matous (third singles, 6-2, 6-0) also picked up wins for KP. Franklin’s Eli Brooks won 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at second singles and James Johnston and Derek Wu earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at first doubles.

Mansfield, 5 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – Final

Sharon, 4 vs. Martha’s Vineyard, 1 – Final

Taunton, 4 vs. Coyle & Cassidy, 1 – FinalTaunton recorded its second victory of the season over in-city rival Coyle. Sophomore Brett Beaulieu won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, junior Mike Briggs recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles and senior Eric Gwozdz prevailed 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 at third singles. The team of sophomores Dylan Kullas and Charlie Fiske capped the win with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at first doubles.

Girls Tennis
Milford, 0 @ Foxboro, 5 – FinalFoxboro lost a total of three games in singles play and just five in doubles play in a clean sweep of the visiting Scarlet Hawks. Sophia Prinos (first singles) and Lexi Nelson (second singles) both won 6-0, 6-0 while Julia Muise took a 6-0, 6-3 decision at third singles. The team of Kayla Prag and Olivia Dantona won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and sophomore Kendall Milender and senior Jacey Nicklas notched a 6-4, 6-0 win at second doubles.

Franklin, 1 @ King Philip, 4 – FinalKing Philip didn’t drop a game at second or third singles and swept doubles play to earn the win and set up a winner-take-all situation on Wednesday against Taunton for the Kelley-Rex title. KP’s Erin Regnier (second) and Meghan Sepich (third) won 6-0, 6-0 in their respective singles matches. The team of Megan Davenport and Carly Adams won 6-2, 6-2 at first doubles and Corinne Palumbo and Lucy Barnard won 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles. Franklin senior Hannah Sweeney earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles.

Oliver Ames, 1 @ Mansfield, 4 – FinalMansfield is tournament bound following a 4-1 win over Oliver Ames. The Hornets swept singles play with Paulina Martin earning a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles, Sarah Doyle taking a 6-2, 6-0 victory at second singles and Elizabeth Elsner notching a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win at third singles. Chloe Peters and Tessa Garufi earned Mansfield’s fourth point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at first doubles. The team of Olivia Groebe and Kristin Bloumbas picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at second doubles for OA.

Sharon, 3 vs. Martha’s Vineyard, 2 – FinalSharon scored an impressive win over two-time defending D3 State Champion Martha’s Vineyard to move to 17-0. The Eagles will look to complete a perfect regular season on Saturday against Milford. Nupur Shukla won 6-0, 6-3 at first singles, Emily Zhang took a 6-0, 6-2 win at second singles and Lulu Yuan prevailed 6-4, 6-4 at third singles as Sharon swept singles matches.

Taunton, 5 @ Coyle & Cassidy, 0 – FinalTaunton won all five matches in straight sets to sweep the season series with city rivals Coyle. Olivia Sweeney won 6-2, 6-2 at first singles, Jordan Pagliuca recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win at second singles and Jillian Pagliuca took a 6-1, 6-0 decision at third singles. The team of Emily Moor and Ashleigh Eason continued their impressive campaign with a 6-1, 6-0 win at first doubles and Caroline Hebert and Jordan Martin prevailed 6-4, 6-0 at second doubles.

Attleboro, 1 @ Taunton, 9 – FinalTaunton grabbed the lead with two runs in the third inning and then broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning and a three-run sixth inning. Tyler Medeiros and William DaRosa each knocked in three runs to pace the Tigers offense while Medeiros earned the win on the mound. Medeiros pitched six innings, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while fanning nine batters. Chris Gomes added three hits and three runs and Jacob Crawford had two hits and three runs scored for the Tigers.

Canton, 0 @ Stoughton, 7 – FinalStoughton senior Ryan Sullivan pitched five scoreless innings to earn his third win of the season. Justin Hutchinson went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple, two runs scored and two RBI. Matt Gallagher and Jack Connelly each pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Black Knights.

Foxboro, 2 @ North Attleboro, 5 – FinalNorth Attleboro plated three runs in the third inning and added two more in the fourth inning to beat Foxboro. Junior Zach DeMattio had a big day at the plate, knocking in four runs and scoring the fifth. In the third, Nick Sinacola (infield hit) and Nate Pearce (single) reached before DeMattio brought both home with a double. DeMattio scored the third run when John Brennan drew a bases loaded walk. In the fourth, Sinacola had another single and DeMattio launched a two-run home run. Sinacola earned the win on the mound, striking out five in four innings of work with just two hits allowed. Peter Cohen allowed one run on two hits and two walks in three innings of relief.

Franklin, 5 @ King Philip, 0 – FinalFranklin junior Jake Noviello tossed a complete game shutout, striking out three while scattering five hits and three walks to earn the win. Offensively, Cam Lupien had a team-high three hits and added an RBI while both Tyler Gomes and Alex Haba had two hits and two runs scored. Franklin clinched the Kelley-Rex division title outright with the win.

Stoughton, 10 @ Canton, 5 – FinalStoughton took a 5-0 lead in the opening innings only to have Canton rally to tie the game in the fourth. The Black Knights regained the lead in the top of the sixth when Alessandra Loffredo beat out an infield single on a two-out grounder that plated Taylor Levine. Karly Estremera went 3-for-4 for Stoughton, scored three runs, and drove in a pair. Brianna Ferrandiz and Jordan Lyons each had two hits and Gina Carafa picked up the win with six strikeouts.

North Attleboro, 11 @ Foxboro, 12 – Final (8 inn.)North Attleboro’s Meg Barlow (three hits) and Bella Erti (two hits) each had a double and home run but the Rocketeers fell in extra innings. Olivia Capobianco also had three hits and Kristina Murphy and Sam Courtemanche each had two hits for North Attleboro.

King Philip, 6 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalFranklin took a 2-1 lead heading into the final inning but KP rallied for five runs to earn the win. Ally Shea scored both runs for the Panthers while Alexx Niss and Clara DeCarvalho each recording an RBI. Olivia DiGiacomo added two hits for Franklin.

Mansfield, 8 vs. St. John’s Shrewsbury, 19 – FinalMansfield was within two at halftime, trailing just 7-5, but the Pioneers pulled away in the second half. Cullen Murphy and Josh London played well defensively in front of Jack Munroe, who played well in net. Sam O’Connell and Hunter Ferreira paced the Hornets’ offense.

North Attleboro, 8 vs. Walpole, 14 – FinalChloe Olsen and Kenzie Rosenberg each recorded a hat trick but Big Red fell to Walpole. Kaylin Moulin made 12 saves in goal while Emily Schromm and Olsen each had five draw controls.

The team of Julia Burkowsky and Jena Moyle prevailed 6-4, 6-4 at first doubles. The second doubles match did not finish due to rain.

King Philip, 6 @ Taunton, 8 – FinalTaunton saw its 4-0 lead disappear when King Philip plated five runs in the fourth inning and went up 6-4 with a single run in the fifth. But the Tigers struck back with a run in the bottom of the fifth and then junior Christian Simoes had a three-run double in the bottom of the sixth to put Taunton back ahead. Tyler Medeiros also had an RBI for the Tigers, Matt Machado had two hits, Jacob Crawford reached base three times – two hits and a walk, and William DaRosa delivered a pinch hit RBI double. Sophomore Griffin Tomaszycki pitched a scoreless sixth inning to earn the win and Danny Keogh pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the save.

Franklin, 4 @ King Philip, 16 – Final (6 inn.)King Philip junior Jess Bonner connected for a pair of home runs and knocked in a total of five runs as KP put up its second largest offensive output of the season. Meg Gorman added four hits, including three doubles and Hailey McCasland, Nicole Carter, Brooke Taute and Sydney Phillips each had two hits. Jenn Hutnyan earned the win, striking out 10. Franklin sophomore Ally Shea hit her first home run and finished with three RBI while freshman Anna Balkus had two hits.

Taunton, 8 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – FinalTaunton’s Jaime Brown (two RBI) and MacKenzie Handrahan each had two hits, while Kya Enos drove in a pair of runs with a base hit and suicide squeeze. Eighth graders Hannah Aldrich and McKenzie McAloon both had a base hit and RBI, while freshman Jaylin Couto had an RBI suicide squeeze. Courtney Fisher earned the win, allowing an unearned run in six innings of work on four hits. Couto pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

Boys Lacrosse
Attleboro, 3 @ Foxboro, 15 – Final

Canton, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – FinalIn a back and forth contest, Canton came out on top by scoring the game-winner with less than a minute to play. Goals from OA’s Eric LeBlanc and Canton’s Nick Allen sent the game into halftime tied 1-1. Griffin Roach put Canton ahead 2-1 with 9:14 left in the fourth but LeBlanc netted his second, tying the game with just 1:40 to play. Matt Martin was the hero for the Bulldogs, netting the winner with 26 seconds to play. Canton freshman Jack Connolly made 11 saves in the win.

Taunton, 0 @ Franklin, 19 – Final

Franklin, 19 @ Taunton, 4 – FinalMairead Gogeun paced the Panthers’ offense with four goals and one assist and Shannon D’Arcangelo and Grace Platner each found the back of net once as Franklin clinched the outright Kelley-Rex title for the fifth straight season. FHS head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said Kate Morse and Molly O’Reilly both played well defensively in the win. Abbey Kingman scored a pair of goals for the Tigers and Lorna Li came up with 17 saves in the loss.

North Attleboro, 17 @ King Philip 3 – Final

Franklin, 4 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalFranklin earned two wins in singles play and two more in doubles to defeat Foxboro on the road. Eli Brooks won 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 at second singles and Rohan Herur secured a 6-1, 6-1 win at third singles. The team of James Johnston and Derek Wu won 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 at first doubles and Tyler DiPalma and Rahul Hosdurg won 6-4, 6-4 at second doubles.

King Philip, 2 @ Bishop Feehan, 3 – FinalKing Philip earned a pair of singles wins but ultimately fell to Feehan. Cole Ginter won 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 at singles and Martin Matous recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win at third singles.

Foxboro, 4 @ Franklin, 1 – FinalFoxboro swept doubles play and took two wins in singles action to defeat Franklin. Lexi Nelson (second singles) and Julia Muise (third singles) each won 6-0, 6-0. The team of Kayla Prag and Olivia Dantona won 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles and Morgan Krockta and Kendall Milender prevailed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at second doubles. Franklin’s Hannah Sweeney won 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 at first singles.

Taunton, 3 vs. New Bedford, 1 – FinalTaunton jumped out to a 2-0 lead over New Bedford and held on for a 3-1 victory, 25-19, 25-22, 15-25, 25-22. THS coach Toby Chaperon said Mike Fernandez, David Fusiecki, Nick Sorm and Nate Grant each played great all around games, combining for 37 digs, 20 assists, 15 kills, four blocks and three aces.

Wednesday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 05/17/16

Baseball
Franklin, 4 @ Attleboro, 3 – FinalFranklin senior Steve Ferguson scored what turned out to be the winning run on a squeeze play in the top of the seventh and the Panthers held off a late surge from Attleboro to earn the win. Franklin scored two runs in the top frame to go up 4-1. Jake Noviello went 6.1 innings for Franklin, striking out nine with four hits allowed to earn the win. Bryan Woelfel picked up the last two outs to earn the save for Franklin. Offensively, Jake Lyons had two hits, including a double, and scored a run, Ryan Hodgkins belted an RBI triple and scored a run and Cam Lupien knocked in a run. Attleboro’s Matt Callahan had two hits, scored a run and drove in two, Dylan Maskell had two hits and an RBI and Tyler Davis reached base four times, stole two bases and scored once. Tyler McGovern was the tough luck loser on the mound, tossing a complete game. “He pitched well, made it tough for us,” said FHS head coach Zach Brown.

Foxboro, 9 @ Canton, 7 – FinalColin Thoener did it all for the Warriors, tossing a complete game and knocking in a team-high four RBI in a close win over Canton. Thoener scattered seven hits, walked two and struck out five to earn the win while going 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI. AJ Bubencik also had a strong day offensively, going 3-for-4 with three runs and a stolen base and sophomore Anthony Mollica had two hits, three RBI and two stolen bases.

Mansfield, 8 @ King Philip, 5 – Final (8 inn.)Kevin Dow (2-for-4) knocked in Cullin Anastasia (2-for-3, RBI) for the winning run in the top of the eighth and Aidan Cahill brought in two more insurance runs — Max Boen (2-for-2, RBI) and Matt Farragher — as Mansfield escaped with an 8-5 win in extras at King Philip. Mansfield took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first but KP responded with two in the bottom half. The Hornets tacked on single runs in the second and third to make it 5-2, but KP cut into the deficit with a run in the third and tied the game with two runs in the fifth. Mansfield’s Kyle Moran earned the winning, tossing 3.1 innings in relief with just two hits allowed and two strikeouts. Stephen Murray knocked in two runs for KP while Will Weir (2-for-4, two runs) and Ben Furfari (2-for-4) each knocked in one.

Milford, 2 @ North Attleboro, 9 – FinalNorth Attleboro junior Peter Cohen shined in his first ever varsity start, allowing just one run on four hits and no walks, striking out five to lead the Rocketeers to a big division win. Offensively, the Rocketeers had nine hits, scoring two runs in the first, five in the second and tacking on single runs in each the third and fifth innings. Zach DeMattio (three RBI) belted a two-run home run in the first and John Brennan had a solo home run in the third.

Oliver Ames, 5 @ Taunton, 8 – FinalTaunton junior Christin Simoes had two hits, including a home run, and knocked in a pair of runs as Taunton prevailed against OA. OA took a 1-0 lead in the first, only for Taunton to respond with two runs in the bottom half. Taunton added three more in the third to take a 5-1 lead. OA didn’t go quietly, tying the game with four runs in the fourth but Taunton added three more in the sixth to get the win. Jacob Crawford added two hits and Matt Machado had one hit and an RBI for Taunton. Tyler Medeiros earned the win on the mound, tossing a complete game with seven strikeouts and four earned runs allowed. Oliver Ames’ Cam Johnson went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI and Sam Burr added two hits as well.

Sharon, 3 @ Stoughton, 4 – FinalStoughton overcame a one run deficit with the tying run in the third and then the go-ahead run in the fifth to edge out the Eagles and clinch their second straight Davenport title. Senior Josh Roos delivered the big hit for the Black Knights, connecting for a one-out triple in the fifth and came on a sac fly from Ruben Gonzalez for what turned out to be the winning run. Gonzalez also scored the tying run in the third, scoring on a passed ball after singling and stealing second. Stoughton took the lead with two runs in the first on Luke Johnson’s two-out two-run triple. Johnson also earned the win on the mound, going six innings with three runs allowed on eight hits, three strikeouts and one walk. Evan Gibb pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the save.

Softball
Attleboro, 0 @ Franklin, 3 – FinalFranklin got all three of its runs within the first two innings and junior Jackie Cherry did the rest in the circle, tossing a complete game shutout. Franklin freshman Anna Balkus singled, stole second and used two wild pitched to come home. Ally Shea also scored in the first inning for the Panthers. Mansfield’s Sarah Cahill had three strikeouts while giving up eight hits while Megan Letendre had the lone hit of the day for the Hornets.

North Attleboro, 3 @ Milford, 6 – FinalNorth Attleboro cut into MIlford’s 3-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third but the Scarlet Hawks had an answer, tacking on two runs in the bottom of the fourth to pick up the win. The teams traded single runs in the sixth inning. Junior Emily Piergustavo paced Milford’s offense, going 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI and two runs scored. Kate Irwin (1-for-3) added three runs, Jess Tomaso had two hits and an RBI and Maggie Farrell reached twice and knocked in one run. MHS head coach Steve DiVitto said Maddy Bonvino “played an exceptional defensive game at second base.” Kelley Reichert picked up the win, going six innings, scattering five hits and striking out one. Ali Atherton earned the save, striking out two in one inning of work. For North Attleboro, Meg Barlow had two hits and a a run scored and Ashley Cangiano drove in pinch runner Kat Munley.

Canton, 18 @ Taunton, 0 – FinalCanton senior CJ Martin netted first career goal and then went on to add two more to record a hat trick in the Bulldogs’ big win. Brian Albert and Alec Raguso also scored their first career goals while Connor Proctor and Matt Mackay found the back of the net for the first time this season.

Foxboro, 5 @ Franklin, 9 – Final – Franklin raced out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter and used that strong start to take down Foxboro. The Panthers gained a 7-3 edge by halftime but were blanked in the third quarter by Foxboro’s defense and the Warriors cut the deficit to three at 7-4 entering the fourth. But Franklin recovered and won the fourth quarter 2-1 to prevail with a win. Eric Civetti had three goals and three assists, Packie Watson also netted a hat trick and had one assist and Nitin Chaudhury had one goal and one assist. Chase Tanner and Jake Davis each added one goal while sophomore Jacob Alexander notched 15 wins at the face off X.

North Attleboro, 12 @ Mansfield, 6 – FinalNorth Attleboro built a commanding 7-2 lead by halftime and never looked back to notch a key road win and clinch the Davenport division outright. Jason McNeany won 10 of the 15 face offs he participated in to help give Big Red the possession edge. Jack Dakin scored a team-high five goals and added two assists, Zach McGowan (two goals, two assists) totaled four points and McNeany finished with a pair of goals and one assist. Owen Costello also recorded four points for the Rocketeers while Colin Young scored once and had one assist, Tommy Lindstrom added two assists and Hunter Sarro notched one helper.

Junior Bryan Woelfel tossed a complete game shutout with just three hits allowed, one walk and a pair of strikeouts. The Panthers loaded the bases with Jake Lyons (double), Ryan Hodgkins (hit by pitch) and Jason Ulrickson (bunt single) reaching base. Josh Macchi followed with an RBI single, Tyler Gomes knocked in a run with a sac fly and sophomore Alex Haba drove in two with a double. James Leofanti doubled to move Haba to third and Jake Macchi’s sacrifice fly brought Haba home. In the second inning, Ulrickson doubled to score Lyons. Alexx Niss also had a hit and brought in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Offensively, Maggie Farrell stroked three hits, including two doubles, while also scoring a run. Franklin, 14 vs. Algonquin, 6 – FinalFranklin goalie Connor O’Rourke made eight saves the FHS head coach Lou Verrochi praised the defensive effort of his team’s defense as the Panthers picked up a key non-league win. Based on North Attleboro’s win over King Philip, the Panthers clinched at least a share of the Kelley-Rex division title. Eric Civetti had his way on the offensive end, netting eight goals with one assist and Sam Arsenault and Nitin Chaudhury each scored once and had two assists. Packie Watson found the back of the net twice and Kyle McEniry had two helpers; Johnny O’Glishen and Pat Morrison each tallied a goal as well.

Furfari put KP ahead in the first, knocking in Will Weir – double, stole third – on a sacrifice fly. Attleboro tied the game in the sixth, taking advantage of a pair of errors. Kyle Guenthner scored the game-winning run, reaching on an infield single, taking second on an error and coming home a base hit to right from Furfari. Chris Wing tossed 5.2 innings, allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts. Dan Antunes picked up the win in 1.1 innings of work in relief, striking out one without allowing a hit. Tyler McGovern had a strong outing for Big Blue, going 6.1 innings with three strikeouts and one earned run allowed.

Canton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 2 – FinalNorth Attleboro junior Nick Sinacola threw a no-hitter and the Rocketeers scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to walk-off against Canton. In a complete game effort, Sinacola walked three and struck out 13 on 104 pitches. After six scoreless innings, Canton tied the game in the top of the seventh on a pair of walks and a pair of hit batters. Sinacola escaped the bases loaded jam without allowing any further damage. After taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth, the Rocketeers won the game in the bottom of the seventh. Tyler LaFreniere walked and pinch runner Jeff Gale stole second. Gale advanced to third on a base hit from pinch hitter Aidan Harding and then John Brennan brought the winning run home with a sacrifice fly.

Foxboro, 8 @ Sharon, 6 – FinalColin Thoener had a pair of hits and knocked in a pair of runs and the Warriors took advantage on a pair of two-run doubles in the third to hold off Sharon. Both Cam Feldman and Chad Bearce came through with a two-run double in the third to help starter Aaron Wentling earn the win. Steve McLaughlin came on in relief, getting the final out with the bases loaded to earn the save.

Franklin, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – FinalA pitcher’s duel broke out at Frothingham Park on Monday afternoon between Franklin’s Jake Noviello and Oliver Ames’ Sam Burr. The difference in the game came in the fourth inning when the Panthers scored the lone run of the game. Jake Lyons’ swinging bunt forced an errant throw to first, allowing the Franklin senior to get to second. Lyons moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from sophomore Alex Haba and came home on a sacrifice fly from Ryan Hodgkins. Josh Macchi had a pair of hits for Franklin. Noviello earned the win, allowing just three hits, walking one and striking out five in a complete game effort. Burr scattered six hits without issuing a walk, striking out three in a complete game performance.

Taunton, 2 @ Mansfield, 13 – FinalMansfield’s offense exploded for seven runs in the first inning and scored all 13 of its runs by the conclusion of the third inning. Max Boen had a team-high four hits, scored twice and knocked in one run, both Zack Peterson (run, RBI) and Cullin Anastasia (four RBI, two runs) had three hits for the Hornets and Aidan Cahill (three runs, RBI) registered a pair of hits. Nolan Dousa earned the win, striking out nine in six innings of work.

Stoughton, 6 @ Milford, 8 – FinalStoughton got off to a strong start with three runs in the top of the first but Milford had the answer, scoring seven runs in the bottom half off of seven hits. The Black Knights came back with three more runs to make it a one run game in the top of the second, but that would be the closest they’d get the rest of the way. Milford starter Nate Irwin settled down after the first two innings, allowing just three hits the rest of the way with five strikeouts. Ryan Goncalves had three hits and a run scored, Anthony Mobilia cleared the bases with a three-run double in the first inning and Aidan Wilde and Zack Tamagni each recorded a pair of hits for the Scarlet Hawks. Ruben Gonzalez, Jack Connelly and Nick Hardy each had two hits for Stoughton.

King Philip, 18 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final (5 inn.)King Philip’s Jenn Hutnyan didn’t allow a walk or a hit, throwing a perfect game as the Warriors ran away with a big win. Hutnyan helped her own cause, coming up with two hits and four RBI at the dish. Hailey McCasland had four hits, Sydney Phillips added three hits and Meg Gorman, Allie Kuchy, Jess Bonner, Brooke Taute and Brianna Lacy all chipped in with two hits apiece.

North Attleboro, 15 @ Canton, 0 – Final (5 inn.)Olivia Capobianco had a strong day at the plate and Bella Erti and Olivia DesRoches combined to allow just three hits as the Rocketeers rolled to a big win. Capobianco went 4-for-4 (two doubles) at the plate, recorded five RBI and scored three runs to pace Big Red’s offense. Liz Morehouse added a two-run home run and Abby Warren and Andrea Miceli each scored a pair of runs. Erti threw the first three innings with five strikeouts with five strikeouts while DesRoches allowed just two hits in the final two innings.

Foxboro, 5 @ Sharon, 6 – FinalSharon trailed 5-1 with two outs in the sixth inning but rallied to pull out the divisional win. Freshman Shoshana Lowe hit a triple with the bases loaded to cut the lead to just one run. Senior captains Sam Marglous and Clara Cook set up the game-tying run and Lowe provided the game-winning run with a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh. Cook picked up the win, striking out seven and allowing only two hits for the Eagles. Sharon coach Deb Parker said, “This is what we have seen from this team all year, they are never out of a game and they never stop fighting. I am so proud of the way this team plays day in and day out, they never quit!”

Oliver Ames, 4 @ Franklin, 8 – FinalFranklin struck for six runs over the first three innings and tacked on two more in the fifth to double up on Oliver Ames. Fisher scattered seven hits, striking out five with two walks to earn the win. Katie Van Zandt (2-for-3, double) had a solo home run and Jaylin Couto connected on a two-run blast. Kya Enos (3-for-3, RBI), Hailey Medeiros (RBI) and McKenzie McAloon each had a double for the Tigers. Liz Mackin opened the scoring for the Hornets with a first inning RBI single. In the sixth Marissa Staffer singled to cut the lead to one but the Hornets could not capitalize on a bases loaded situation. Megan Letendre had two hits for Mansfield on the night.

Maggie Farrell (3-for-5) had a double and four RBI and Shannon Cormier (3-for-4) scored a run for Milford (19 hits). The Hornets won the final quarter 3-1 and forcing a handful of turnovers to secure the win. Sean Powers made 14 saves in net for Mansfield while Cullen Murphy paced the offense with a pair of goals and two assists. Danny DeGirolamo and Joe Cox each scored once and had an assist, Brad Grant netted a pair of goals and Mike Reed and Aidan Sacco each scored once. Tommy Donnelly and Mike Zampine each played well defensively for the Hornets.

Franklin, 10 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – Final Sam Arsenault scored a hat trick and Eric Civetti and Chase Tanner each netted a pair in Franklin’s win over Oliver Ames. “OA played very well defensively, we had to work for this win,” said FHS head coach Lou Verrochi. Jonathan O’Glishen and Nitin Chaudhury each chipped in with a goal, Jacob Alexander won 14 of 16 face offs and Connor O’Rourke recorded eight saves in the cage for the Panthers.

Jason McNeany made a big difference for the Rocketeers, winning 14 of 16 face offs while Dan MacDonald turned aside eight shots in net. Owen Costello scored once and had two assists and Andy DeMattio (goal, assists) finished with two points. FHS head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said Grace McDermott (three draw controls, three ground balls) played well defensively. The Panthers’ offensive burst could have been higher if not for an incredible 27-save performance from OA goalie Ari Waldorf.

The team of Azka Siddiq and Katie Demontigny won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles and Hana Hershey and Shurobhi and Nandi took a 6-2, 6-3 victory at second doubles.

Foxboro, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – FinalSharon earned a big win over division rival Foxboro, sweeping doubles play and earning two more wins in singles play. Nupur Shukla earned a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at first singles and Lulu Yuan won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles for the Eagles. The team of Katie Merport and Emily Wen won 6-0, 6-2 at first doubles and Rithika Neti and Sophia Fein won 6-0, 6-2 at second doubles. OA’s team of Olivia Groebe and Kristin Bloumbas prevailed in a three set thrilling, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 to help the Tigers secure the win. Maura Kiernan (third singles) won 6-4, 6-0 and the team of Tori Wyman and Tate Hadges (first doubles) won 6-0, 6-1 for Oliver Ames’ other two points. Franklin’s Hannah Sweeney won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles and Anja Deric earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles.

Taunton, 3 @ Mansfield, 2 – FinalTaunton’s Jillian Pagliuca rallied from dropping the first set to win the next two sets, giving the Tigers the winning point. The Tigers qualified for the state tournament with the win. Pagliuca won 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 to secure the final point. Taunton’s other wins came from doubles play as Ashleigh Eason and Emily Moor won 6-0, 6-2 at first doubles and Caroline Hebert and Jordan Martin won 6-0, 6-2 at second doubles. Attleboro, 3 @ Foxboro, 4 – FinalFoxboro junior Joe Freitas’ third hit of the game broke a tie game, handing the Warriors the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Freitas (3-for-3) slapped a two-out RBI single to bring the game-winning run home for Foxboro. The Warriors held a 3-1 lead until Attleboro tied the game with two runs in the top of the third. Foxboro’s Colin Thoener tossed a complete game to earn the win, allowing just one hit and no earned runs. He struck out seven.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Canton, 1 – FinalCanton scored an unearned run in the first and that was all that junior Robbie Wilkinson needed, as he tossed a complete game shutout and allowed only four hits on 76 pitches, striking out two. Sophomore Tom Parker was just about as good on the hill for the Tigers, allowing no earned runs and only four hits in the loss. Sam Burr accounted for two hits for the Tigers.

Franklin, 4 @ Sharon, 0 – FinalFranklin junior Bryan Woelfel tossed a complete game shutout and senior Jake Lyons had three hits to pace the Panthers past Sharon. Woelfel earned the win by going the distance, allowing just four hits, two walks and retiring seven batters on strikes. Lyons had a double and a run scored while Ryan Hodgkins had two hits and a run scored and Tyler Gomes went 1-for-1 with a walk and a sacrifice fly.

King Philip, 8 @ North Attleboro, 7 – FinalKing Philip’s offense got off to a strong start with five runs in the first inning but had to rally when the Rocketeers put up seven straight runs. North tied the game with five runs in the second and went up 7-5 on two runs in the fourth. KP tied the game up with two runs in the fifth and knocked in the winning run in the sixth inning. KP totaled 11 hits as a team with Will Weir going 3-for-4, Ben Furfari added two hits and Jeremy Rhines recording two RBI. Jack Webster earned the win in relief while Dan Antunes picked up the save, tossing two innings without giving up a hit.

Mansfield, 12 @ Milford, 4 – FinalMansfield’s offense wasted little time to get going, scoring two runs in the first inning and then adding on three runs in each the second, third and fourth innings. The Hornets tacked on their final run in the sixth. Colin Gibbons had the big day at the plate for Mansfield, going 2-for-4 with five runs knocked in, Anthony DeGirolamo was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and four runs scored, Matt Farragher had four hits and three runs scored and Max Boen recorded three hits and scored three runs. Kevin Dow earned the win, allowing just one earned run in five innings of work. David Simmons was solid in two innings of relief, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.

Taunton, 3 @ Stoughton, 4 – FinalStoughton scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to prevail with a win over Taunton. The Tigers held a 3-1 advantage heading into the final inning but the Black Knights rallied to load the bases. Senior Ryan Sullivan came through and a bases-clearing double to walk off with the win. Ruben Gonzalez knocked in Stoughton’s first run with an RBI double while Pat Hagerty was 2-for-2 with two runs scored for the Black Knights. Justin Hutchinson earned the win in two innings of relief, allowing two hits and retiring three batters on strikes. Tyler Medeiros had a strong outing for the Tigers, striking out six with four hits allowed and just one run in six innings of work.

Canton, 8 @ Oliver Ames, 11 – FinalOliver Ames surged ahead to take a 9-7 lead in the fifth inning and tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth to beat Canton. Lexie Campbell was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, Caroline Mahoney went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI, Rachel Han had a home run and scored a pair of runs, Kayla Georgeu had one hit, two runs and two RBI and Alyssa Gavin added an RBI.

Sharon, 1 @ Franklin, 7 – FinalFranklin’s offense started strong with a pair of runs in the first inning, tacked on single runs in each the third and the fourth and then put an exclamation point on the win with three more runs in the sixth inning. Jackie Cherry earned the win with five innings of work while Emily Valentino earned the save, retiring all six batters she faced. Alexx Niss went 3-for-4 with four RBI to pace Franklin’s offense while Olivia DiGiacomo was 2-for-4 with three runs and two assists from right field and Ally Shea recorded two hit and an RBI. FHS head coach Kate Fallon-Comeau said Tara Hartnett (shortstop) and Alyssa DaSilva (first) both had strong defense games for the Panthers.

North Attleboro, 5 @ King Philip, 6 – Final King Philip’s Sydney Phillips had a standout performance at the plate, collecting three hits and knocking in two runs to help the Warriors edge Big Red. Nicole Carter also knocked in a pair of runs in KP’s win. Elise Pereira came on in relief and provided two scoreless innings for the Warriors. Ashley Cangiano had a pair of triples and drove in a pair of runs and Sam Courtemanche went 3-for-4 for the Rocketeers. Olivia Capobianco had three stolen bases and two runs scored for North.

Milford, 11 @ Mansfield, 2 – FinalMilford junior Emily Piergustavo hit for the cycle to continue her offense hot streak and the Hawks picked up a big win on the road. Piergsutavo was 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored while Kaitlyn DeCapua also had four hits, scoring once and knocking in three runs. Maggie Farrell was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs score and Maddy Bonvino had two hits, including a triple and an RBI. Kelley Reichert struck out four in a complete game effort to earn the win while also helping the offense with a three-run home run. Sarah Cahill and Caty DeMassi each had a hit Hornets.

Stoughton, 1 @ Taunton, 4 – FinalEighth grader Kelsey White gave up one unearned run and just four hits in her first varsity start. White struck out nine and walked none in a complete game win. Stoughton took the lead but Taunton tied it in the third with a single run and then took the lead in the fifth on an single by Hannah Aldrich that plated pinch runner Alexa White. A leadoff double in the sixth by McKenzie McAloon started a two-run rally that sealed the win for the Tigers. One run scored on an grounder by Jaime Brown and the second on a single by Kya Enos. Stoughton was led offensively by Karly Estremera with two hits and the team’s lone run.

Nick Ward, Paul Yeomans, Max Fontes, Zac Doucette and Dan Conroy each tallied a goal for the Rocketeers while Jack Connolly had an assist. Jack Puccio (six saves) and Jake McNeany (five saves) split the game in net for North.

Jordan Jette had four assists to go along with one goal, Erin Walsh scored a hat trick and had one helper, Caroline Lounsbury also netted a hat trick and Kelsey MacCallum scored a pair of goals and added one assist. FHS head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said Halle Atkinson had a strong game in the midfield with two draw controls and two ground balls.

King Philip, 21 @ Taunton, 4 – FinalKatie Crowther led the way for King Philip with six goals and the Warriors had 14 different players tally at least one goal. Caroline Watson made eight saves in net for KP while Christina Hathaway scored her first goal. Olivia Tormey and Caroline Klim each scored two goals in the win. Alana Tavares and Delaney Powell each scored a pair of goals for the Tigers and Lorna Li made 19 saves in the loss.

Mansfield, 14 @ Oliver Ames, 10 – FinalOliver Ames’ Kendall Clifford found the back of the net five times and Chloe Kikelly scored a hat trick but the Tigers fell just short to Mansfield. OAHA head coach Abby Tepper said Katie Davenport, Sydney Hedrick, Grace McCallum and Dimitra Efremidis all played great defensively. Ari Waldorf made 15 saves in net for the Tigers.

Taunton, 5 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final – Taunton lost a total of just three games in a convincing win on the road. Vanessa Rosa (third singles) and the team of Ashleigh Eason and Emily Moor (first doubles) both won 6-0, 6-0. Olivia Sweeney (first singles) and Jillian Pagliuca (second singles) each won 6-1, 6-0 while the team of Jordan Martin and Callie Hebert won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles.

Grant also had two kills and three blocks while Lance Law had a team-high 15 kills and had one block. Lens Esquil had five blocks as well as 13 kills while David Fusiecki had 10 kills and 11 digs.

Franklin, 3 vs. Bridgewater-Raynham, 2 – FinalTrailing 2-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Panthers rallied for a pair of runs to walk off with a win against the Trojans. Jackie Cherry led the inning off with a single and courtesy runner Anna Balkus advanced to third on sacrifice bunt from Olivia Haba. Balkus came home to tie the game on a wild pitch. Rachel Cousineau drew a walk, Ally Shea singled and both advanced a base on a wild pitch. Olivia DiGiacomo then delivered the game-winning hit with a base hit. The Panthers scored their first run in the fifth inning when Cousineau knocked in Tara Hartnett (2-for-3), who led off with a double. Cherry earned her first career win in the circle for the Panthers.

Mansfield, 27 @ Needham, 7 – Final (5 inn.)Marissa Staffer had a pair of hits and seven RBI, as well as a strong defensive game, to lead the Hornets to a big non-league win.

Milford, 8 @ Hopedale, 0 – FinalMilford rolled to its sixth straight win and second shutout of the season by blanking Hopedale. Senior Ali Atherton struck out 10 batters in a complete game effort, allowing just four hits to get the win. Shannon Cormier (3-for-4) and Emily Piergustavo (2-for-4, triple) each knocked in a pair of runs for the Scarlet Hawks. Kate Irwin went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and Jess Tomaso was 4-for-4 with a double and two walks for Milford.

Boys Lacrosse
Foxboro, 8 vs. Catholic Memorial, 9 – FinalFoxboro scored five goals in the final quarter, cutting the deficit to one on back-to-back goals with less than a minute to play but saw its comeback bid come up just short. Trailing 7-3 to start the fourth, Brendan Tully (three goals, three assists) and Colin Spinney (two goals) scored consecutive goals to make it 8-6 with just over three minutes to go by CM answered with what turned out to be the game-winner right off the draw. Spinney and Tully scored back-to-back again to bring Foxboro within one with less than a minute to play but the Knights were able to run out the clock. Trey Guerini, Andrew Whalen and Louis Piccolo each scored once for Foxboro while Jake Addeche made 11 saves in net.

Franklin, 9 vs. Masconomet, 5 – FinalJunior Eric Civetti netted a hat trick and had one assist while classmate Kyle McInery found the back of the net twice with one assist as Franklin rolled passed Masconomet. Senior Packie Watson scored twice to round off the Panthers’ attack. Junior Connor O’Rourke made 12 saves in net while sophomore Jacob Alexander lost just one face off all game, albeit due to a false start.

Mansfield, 10 vs. Scituate, 9 – FinalIn a back and forth affair, Mansfield rattled off three straight between the second and third quarters to pick up enough separation to beat Scituate. The teams traded goals for the entire first half, with the Sailors taking a brief 2-1 lead before Mansfield’s Sam O’Connell scored one of his four goals to tie the game. O’Connell scored just before half as well, taking a feed from Hunter Ferreira (two goals, three assists) to put the Hornets up 6-5 at the break. Aidan Sacco provided an assist to O’Connell and then scored himself to put Mansfield up 8-5 in the third. Sacco and Joe Cox scored in the fourth quarter. Scituate scored its ninth goal with two seconds to play to drqw within one. Mansfield goalie Sean Powers made 19 saves in net.
