Canton, 66 @ Stoughton, 40 – FinalCanton turned a four-point lead at halftime into a big win with a huge second half. The Bulldogs led 30-26 at half, and then 51-38 after three quarters. Canton slammed the door shut with a 15-2 final quarter. Austin Maffie led the Dogs with 20 points while Devin Foster added 19 points in the win. Cam Andrews led the Black Knights with 20 points.

Foxboro, 50 @ North Attleboro, 48 – FinalNorth Attleboro had a lead at the end of each the first, second and third quarters but Foxboro’s offense came to life with 21 points in the final frame, edging Big Red in the final minute. Joe Morrison scored eight of his game-high 15 points in the final frame, including a pair of threes, to help the Warriors earn the win. In the final minute, Devin Hassett scored on a broken play just before the shot clock to put Foxboro up 50-48. Sophomore Brandon Borde added 10 points while Hassett had all nine of his points in the second half. Josh Montague led North with nine points while Nate Goncalves and Chad Peterson each had eight points.

Franklin, 61 @ King Philip, 44 – FinalFranklin turned a six-point lead at halftime into a 19-point lead (49-30) heading into the final quarter and never looked back. Sophomore Chris Edgehill led the Panthers with 22 points while junior Jalen Samuels added 14 points.

Oliver Ames, 39 @ Mansfield, 72 – FinalMansfield limited Oliver Ames to five points in the first quarter, and then six in the second to build a 39-11 lead at the break. Junior Tommy Dooling connected on five three-pointers for a career-high 15 points to lead the Hornets. Tyler Boulter added 11 points and John McCoy had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Sharon, 59 @ Milford, 77 – FinalMilford poured in 49 points in the first half, building a 30-point lead that it never surrendered. Sharon got within 12 in the second half but the Scarlet Hawks never allowed it to get to single digits. Brendan White led Milford with 20 points while senior Kayden Kelley had 13 points and 14 rebounds, Brendon Sailer added 11 points and Andrew Fraioli finished with eight points and five rebounds. Sharon’s Malik Lorquet and Lester High each scored 13 points.

Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 40 @ Taunton, 51 – FinalThe Tigers went on a 14-3 run to close the game after the teams entered the fourth quarter tied 37-37. MacKenzie Handrahan paced Taunton with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Alexa and Kelsey White each added 12 points. Lily Patneaude had a solid all-around game with six points, six assists, and six steals. Sam Pierce was Attleboro’s top scorer with 15 points.

Stoughton, 56 @ Canton, 40 – FinalThe Knights were led by sophomore guard Aliyah Wright, who led the team in scoring with 22 points. Senior forward Val Whalen chipped in with 12 points for Stoughton.

North Attleboro, 26 @ Foxboro, 75 – FinalAshley Sampson had another big night for the Warriors with 26 points, while Lily Sykes added 17 and Katelyn Mollica had 16.

King Philip, 47 @ Franklin, 56 – FinalAli Brigham led the way for the Panthers with her second 20-point game of the week. The sophomore center scored 23 points and recorded her second triple-double of the season.

Wrestling
Burlington Quad (Oliver Ames) – A shorthanded Oliver Ames squad picked up a pair of wins on the day. The Tigers were narrowly edged by Arlington (34-32) but had impressive showings against Burlington (45-31) and Mascononmet (42-39), Cobey Williamson, Anthony Berksza and Dean Pacini all went 3-0 while Darnele Ryan (220) went 2-1.

Foxboro, 2 @ Mansfield, 4 – FinalMansfield raced out to a 3-0 lead but had to hold off a late surge from Foxboro to earn two points. Junior Chris Copponi scored a pair of goals, including an empty net goal late in the third period to secure the win. Patrick McCafferty (from Cullin Anastasia) and Adam Anastos (from Dylan Tivnan) also scored for the Hornets. Foxboro’s Brendan Tully and Ronnie MacLellan each scored once for the Warriors.

Taunton, 0 @ Franklin, 8 – FinalTaunton limited Franklin to just one goal through two periods, but the Panthers exploded for seven goals in the final 15 minutes. Joey Lizotte, Cam Trask, and Luke Downie each scored a pair of goals to lead Franklin.

Taunton jumped out to a 21-3 lead in the second quarter, led 22-14 at half, and 28-26 after three, but the Hornets scored 16 in the fourth for the win. Meg Hill had eight points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for Mansfield, while Lily Patneaude had 11 and Kelsey White had eight for the Tigers.

King Philip, 2 vs. Dennis-Yarmouth, 4 – Final

Wrestling
Peckham Tournament (Canton, King Philip, Mansfield, Sharon) – Mansfield took first place at the annual Peckham Tournament hosted at Canton High School. The Hornets scored 193.5 points as a team while King Philip placed third with 137 points. Sharon (106.5) was sixth and Canton (98) took seventh. The Hornets had four individual winners with Antonios Sevastos (113), George Glaropoulos (152), Jayden Curley (160) and Vinnie Holmes (182) all taking first. Ciaran Connolly (145), CJ Glaropoulos (138) and Will Stratton (132) added second-place finishes for the Hornets. For King Philip, Jackson Kelley (126), Joseph Fruci (145) and Luke Fitch (170) all won their brackets while Jake Malatesta (160) and Shawn Conniff (182) garnered second place honors. Canton’s Eddie Marinilli (138) and Anis Chakir (132) rounded out the winners for the Hockomock teams. Sharon had eight grapplers finish inside the top four, led by third-place finishes from Justin Wells (285) and Will Stern (120).

Chelmsford Tournament (Foxboro) – Foxboro placed fifth overall as a team, finishing with 138 points. Host Chelmsford won the tournament with 204.5 points, followed by Nobles (165), Westford (162.5) and Framingham (156). Phil Dure (126) was the lone individual champion for the Warriors while Adam Lanctot (113) took third place and Dave Dow (160) earned a fourth-place finish.

Natick Duals (Franklin) – Franklin cruised through the Natick Duals tournament, winning all five of its matches, including the final round against the hosts. The Panthers beat Concord-Carlisle (73-6), Merrimack (62-12), Brookline (47-13), Hopkinton (72-9) and Natick (69-3) to earn the crown. Jake Carlucci, Kenny Sauer, Ian Bakalars, TJ Remillard, Brian Farrell, Seamus Cogavin, and Riley Downing all went undefeated on the day for Franklin.

North Attleboro Quad (North Attleboro) – North Attleboro picked up four convincing victories at its own super quad and had five wrestlers go 4-0 on the day. Big Red notched wins over Bridgewater-Raynham (57-9), St. John’s Prep (54-17), Plymouth State (42-21) and LaSalle (48-25). Ethan Smith (106, three pins), Jake Direnzo (126, two pins), Adam Eberle (160, three pins), Chris Ferrigno (182, one pin) and Brad White (195, two wins) all had four wins for the Rocketeers.

Oliver Ames Quad (Oliver Ames, Hingham, Sandwich, Shepherd Hill) – Oliver Ames grabbed two wins at its own quad meet to improve to 11-2 overall. The Tigers earned wins over Sandwich (58-4) and Shepherd Hill (55-0) but fell to Hingham (38-30). Both Dean Pacini and Anthony Berksza went 3-0 on the day with a pair of pins.

Attleboro, 69 vs. Durfee, 57 – FinalDespite 31 points from Durfee’s Shaelyn Correiro, Attleboro pulled out a double-digit win to move back above .500 on the season. Sam Pierce had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead Attleboro, while Nyah Thomas added 13 points, MacKenzie Roberts had 12, and Liv McCall had 11 in the win. Attleboro coach Marty Crowley said that Jordyn Lako was “immense defensively” for the Bombardiers.

Canton, 57 vs. Dover-Sherborn, 34 – FinalHannah Jerrier scored a game-high 24 points and pulled down 18 rebounds as Canton improved to 3-1 with the non-league win. Erin Devine added eight points, six blocks, and seven boards for the Bulldogs and freshman Kayla Albert scored four points, grabbed five rebounds, blocked three shots and had two assists on her varsity debut. Canton coach Jim Choquette called it a “great effort from the entire team.”

Canton, 34 vs. Milford, 65 – FinalCanton’s Cordel Smith won a pair of events, taking first in the 300M (38.66) and qualifying for states in the high jump (5-10.00). Cam Sanchez crossed first in the 55M dash (6.99) while Jack Healey took second in both the 1 Mile (5:07.15) and the 2 Mile (11:05.91). Riley McDonnell placed second in the 300M (38.70).

Mansfield, 66 vs. Oliver Ames, 34 – FinalMansfield swept the points in the 1000M with Kevin Crawford taking first (2:43.68), Jackson Murphy placing second (2:50.43) and Sean Lanzillo coming in third (2:51.51). Nick Horn (37.77) and Dan Knight (39.11) took first and second in the 300M for the Hornets while Jareme DiLorenzo (8.17) and Matt Buiser (9.12) were first and second in the 55M hurdles.

Canton, 24 vs. Milford, 75 – FinalCanton’s Chloe Pennacchio was a double winner, taking first in the 1 Mile (6:07.08) and the 1000M (3:33.09). Bronwyn Mahoney also placed first for the Bulldogs, winning the shot put (29-04.00).

Mansfield, 49 vs. Oliver Ames, 51 – FinalOliver Ames pulled out a narrow win over Mansfield on Wednesday afternoon. Mansfield’s Amanda Mangano was first in the 55M dash (7.59) and the long jump (16-11.00) while taking third in the high jump (4-8.00). Alexis Kiyanda won her first race of the year, crossing first in the 300M at 45.61. The Hornets’ 4×200 relay of Gabrielle Devlin, Julia Harrison, Angela Corkery, and Meg Kuras ran a season-best time of 1:53.42 for the win.

Sharon, 121.45 @ Franklin, 128.40 – FinalFranklin junior Mia Lizotte won the all-around for the second straight meet, earning a 34.7 to edge out Sharon’s Ariana Chabot (30.9). Franklin junior Sadie Rondeau placed first on the beam for the Panthers with an 8.35 while freshman Lexi Lupien took second in each the vault, beam, and floor.

Boys Basketball
Canton, 71 vs. Boston Latin, 56 – FinalCanton’s offense poured in 25 points in the first quarter, building a 15-point lead and never looking back against visiting Boston Latin. Senior Tony Harris scored a team-high 17 points and hauled in nine rebounds, setting a new program record for career rebounds. Senior Jake Verille added 14 points, junior Devin Foster had 13 points and senior Austin Maffie added 11 points.

Foxboro, 49 vs. Bethel Park, 37 – FinalHolding a two-point lead at halftime, Foxboro outscored Bethel Park 14-5 in the third quarter to create the necessary separation to get the win. Sophomore Brandon Borde scored nine of his 14 points in the crucial third quarter while senior Joe Morrison had five of his team-high 15 points. Bobby Harrison helped seal the win with nine of his 14 points in the final quarter. Foxboro will play Shaler Area High School (PA) in the championship round of its bracket at 12:30 on Friday at Disney.

Franklin, 48 vs. Arlington, 46 – FinalFranklin kept Arlington without a final point over the final two minutes and rattled off five straight points to turn a late deficit into a win. Senior Matt Elias (nine points) hit his first three of the game to tie it 46-46 and sophomore Chris Edgehill scored seven of his 14 points in the final quarter, including a pull-up up jumper late to give the Panthers the lead. Senior Paul Mahon (14 points) was named MVP of the tournament while Edgehill and junior Jalen Samuels were named to the all-tournament team.

Mansfield, 64 vs. BC High, 73 – FinalBC High outscored Mansfield 17-9 in the third quarter, including an 11-0 run to start the second half. Senior John McCoy scored a team-high 21 points while classmate Justin Vine added 12 points for the Hornets.

North Attleboro 53 vs. Reading, 32 – FinalBig Red set the defensive tone early, limiting Reading to just four points in the opening quarter and building a double-digit lead (27-16) by halftime. Junior Josh Montague netted 10 of his team-high 15 points in the first half to help create the lead. Junior Jake Petersen added a career-best 13 points, senior Chad Peterson hit three triples for nine points, and Derek Shanks scored seven points to go along with a strong defensive performance. North will play host Lincoln-Sudbury in the championship of the Warrior Slam on Friday night at 7:00.

Taunton, 79 @ Durfee, 70 – FinalTaunton overcame a woeful start (down 12-1) and a 26-point second quarter from Durfee with a strong second half to earn the win in the championship of the Skip Karam Tournament. Junior Lou Vendrell poured in a career-high 26 points, including 14 in the third quarter, to help the Tigers turn the game around. Sophomore Dante Law added a career-high 25 points while senior Lens Esquil, who was named tournament MVP, scored five of his 10 points in the final quarter to help seal the win.

Girls Basketball
Franklin, 40 @ Mansfield, 50 – Final – The Hornets took the lead with a 22-11 second quarter and held on for a double-digit win over their Kelley-Rex rival. Ann Maher finished with a team-high 14 points for Mansfield on four three-pointers. Maggie Danehy added nine points and eight rebounds in the win. Bea Bondhus was Franklin’s top scorer with 14 points and Breanna Atwood added seven.

Sharon, 59 @ Holliston, 62 – FinalEmma Eberhardt scored 24 points for the Eagles in the loss.

Stoughton, 36 @ Newton North, 40 – FinalStoughton, which trailed by as much as nine, cut the deficit to just one late in the fourth quarter but Newton North held on for the win. Senior Val Whalen had 17 points and 13 rebounds while sophomore Aliyah Wright chipped in with 13 points.

Taunton, 46 vs. Durfee, 57 – FinalLily Patneaude and Hannah Moniz each scored 14 points in the loss, while Kelsey White added eight points for the Tigers.

Lowell Holiday Tournament (Foxboro, Franklin, Stoughton), 9:00AM

Marshfield Tournament (Mansfield, North Attleboro, Oliver Ames, Sharon) – North Attleboro and Mansfield both had top-five finishes in the team standings while Oliver Ames had its best showing in program history at the tournament. North was fourth with 183 points while Mansfield took fifth overall with 180 points. OA scored 96.5 points, the most in program history at the Marshfield Tournament (now in its 31st year) to take 14th overall while Sharon took 16th with 65.5 points. The Rocketeers had nine grapplers place inside the top seven, led by Danny Cooper (120, 3-1 with one pin) and Jake Direnzo (126, 4-1) who each finished second. John Kummer (285) took third overall, Adam Eberle (160) and Brad White (195) each placed fourth, Ethan Smith (106), Zack Gould (145) and Reid Wills (160) all placed sixth and Mike Burns (132) was seventh in his bracket.

Mansfield had a strong day with three individual champions, just one of two schools to accomplish the feat. Antonios Sevastos earned up upset over the top seed, 5-4, to win the 113 bracket, Jayden Curley also took down the top-seed, 4-2, to earn the 160 title and Vinnie Holmes won 8-6 for the 182 championship. CJ Glaropoulos finished third at 138 and George Glaropoulos (152) and Will Stratton (132) each had fourth-place finishes for the Hornets.

Oliver Ames’ memorable day was sparked by a second place finish from Dean Pacini (195), who was edged out 4-2 in the final, and junior Anthony Berksza’s fourth-place finish at 145. Freshman Remy Creighton was seventh overall at 106 and Nick McGovern took eighth at 113. Foxboro, 55 @ Bishop Feehan, 36 – FinalFoxboro senior Joe Morrison scored a career-high 26 points and the Warriors defense limited Feehan to just 12 points in the second half to pick up the non-league win. Morrison scored 10 of his points in the first quarter and hit three three-pointers in the second quarter. Defensively, Foxboro did not allow the Shamrocks to score in the third quarter, winning the period 12-0 and never looking back. Morrison limited Feehan’s leading scorer Paul Roche (18 PPG) to just one point. Sophomore Brandon Borde and senior Bobby Harrison each added seven points for Foxboro.

Oliver Ames Quad (Oliver Ames, BC High, Cambridge R&L, Plymouth North) – Oliver Ames picked up a pair of wins but dropped a decision to BC High, heading into the break with an 8-1 record. The Tigers beat Plymouth North (48-36) and Cambridge (36-30), but lost to the Eagles (52-21). Junior Anthony Berksza went 3-0 with three pins for OA.

Foxboro, 1 @ Attleboro, 2 – FinalRyan Morry and Jake Parker each scored once to help the Bombardiers earn their first win of the season, a non-league victory over Foxboro. Warriors freshman Kirk Leach scored his first career goal for Foxboro in the loss.

King Philip, 3 @ Bridgewater-Raynham, 0 – FinalKing Philip bounced back from its season-opening loss with a strong win on the road against the Trojans. The Warriors scored once in each period while junior James Lewis made 15 saves in his first varsity start to earn the win. Mike Curtin opened the scoring in the first off of assists from Garrett Maxwell and Collin Cooke. The Warriors made it 2-0 when Luke D’Amico converted off of a feed from Curtin. In the third, Cooke buried an unassisted goal into an empty net to secure the win.

Mansfield, 1 @ North Attleboro, 4 – FinalNorth Attleboro opened its season in style, scoring the opening goal just 21 seconds into the game and never looking back against the Hornets. Drew Wissler opened the scoring off of an assist from Anthony Zamiello, and then returned the favor to Zamiello later in the period to give Big Red a 2-0 lead after a period. Mansfield senior Cullin Anastasia scored a short-handed goal to bring the Hornets within one but Jeff Baker restored the two-goal lead for North within a minute to make it 3-1. Wissler scored an empty-netter in the third period to ice the game.

Stoughton, 2 vs. St. John Paul II, 5 – Final Brendan Campbell and Sean Doherty each scored a goal for Stoughton.

Girls Hockey
Canton, 1 @ Falmouth, 1 – FinalCanton peppered Falmouth with 41 shots but only broke through once to earn a point on the road. Andrea McNeil found the back of the net for the Bulldogs in the first period while Colleen Kelleher finished with 30 saves.

Marlboro Early Bird (Canton) – Canton placed fifth overall among 16 teams. Sophomore Eddie Marinilli won the 138 bracket for the Bulldogs.

Mike Melish Duals (Foxboro, Sharon), 9:00AM

St. John’s Prep Quad (Franklin) – Franklin had the best team at the meeting, sweeping all three opponents. The Panthers opened with a dominant 45-18 win over Lawrence, earned a hard-fought victory over the hosts St. John Prep (31-21) and finished the day with a 58-16 win over Salem (NH). Jordan Carlucci went 3-0 on the day with three pins.

King Philip @ Milford, 10:00AM

Brockton Tri-meet (Mansfield) – Mansfield rallied for a win over host Brockton to pick up its second win of the day. The Hornets beat Barnstable (60-18) before coming back to beat the Boxers (39-31). Sam Isaacson (126), Ethan Nirenberg (195), and Sam Hutton (220) all picked up huge wins for the Hornets to help complete the comeback against Brockton.

North Attleboro Quad (North Attleboro) – North Attleboro picked up three wins on the day, including over one of the state’s best programs in Norton. Big Red beat Hope (RI) 53-22, took down Chariho (RI) 39-22 and picked up a win over Norton, 45-30. Seniors Jake Direnzo, Brady Folan, Zack Gould, Adam Eberle, and Brad White all went 3-0 for the day.

Marshfield Quad (Oliver Ames) – Oliver Ames dominated the day, picking up four wins to move to 5-0 on the season. The Tigers beat Whitman-Hanson (53-15), Pembroke (47-24), Toll Gate (57-24) and host Marshfield (51-27). Freshman Remy Creighton (106), junior Nick McGovern (113), senior Brandon Belleton (138, three pins), junior Anthony Berksza (145, four pins) and junior Dean Pacini (195, three pins) all went 4-0 on the day for Oliver Ames.

Sandwich Early Bird (Taunton) – Taunton had a successful day at the Sandwich Early Bird tournament with seven wrestlers finishing first, second or third. Josh Grasso (132), Alex Simon (195) and Woudanly Danger (220) emerged victorious from their respective weight classes while Candido Santos (160) and Mason Frank (285) finished second and Tyler Kennedy (152) and Jordan Manning (285) each finished third.
