Boys Lacrosse
Foxboro, 18 @ Wayland, 11 – FinalFoxboro senior Brendan Tully netted his 100th career goal as the Warriors picked up a big win on the road over Wayland. Tully had five goals and two assists while Pete Conley had four goals and three assists, each finishing with seven points for Foxboro. Charlie Baughan added three goals, Aidan Stapleton and Bobby Yerardi each found the back of the net twice, and Shayne Kerrigan scored once and had two helpers. Foxboro coach Matt Noone said Nick Penders was excellent at the faceoff X.

King Philip, 11 @ Bishop Feehan, 8 – FinalKing Philip senior Colin DeVellis factored into seven goals, helping the Warriors take down Bishop Feehan. DeVellis scored five goals and recorded two assists, Kevin Riggs netted a pair of goals, and Andrew Sajdak had one goal and one assist. Sam Mattson (goal, assist) David Lawler (goal), Robbie Tartaglia (goal), and Tyler Bartlett (assist) all contributed to the score.

Mansfield, 14 @ Framingham, 6 – FinalMansfield got back into the win column with a victory on the road at Framingham. Connor Quirk and Brady Kessler paced the offense, each scoring four goals apiece. Jake Quirk netted three goals, Aidan Sacco added two tallies, and Jake DiSangro chipped in with one goal. Joe Plath made 12 saves in net for the Hornets.

Attleboro @ Milford – Postponed to Friday, 4/26 at 4:00.

Girls Lacrosse
Canton, 8 @ Mansfield, 22 – FinalKaty Garvin had five goals and four assists and Lauren Whitman had seven goals and an assist to lead the Hornets to a comprehensive non-league win against the Bulldogs. Whitman was also a force on the draws, pulling down 15 to keep Mansfield in possession. Maggie Danehy had a hat trick, while Olivia Murray, Grace Fernandez, and Annemarie McCory all scored twice in the win. Grace Danehy recorded her first career goal as well. Katie McCarthy had a big game in goal, recording a career-high 13 saves.

Franklin, 15 @ Medfield, 6 – FinalFranklin raced out to a 10-3 lead at halftime and never looked back for a victory on the road at Medfield. Senior Annie Walsh had a team-high nine points, scoring five goals and adding four assists while junior Erin Walsh also scored five goals with two helpers. Annie Walsh and Stella Regan dominated draws for the Panthers, combining for 15 wins. Hailey Toolin and Sydney Hawkins played well defensively in front of Gianna Cameron (10 saves).

North Attleboro, 7 vs. Medway, 17 – Final

King Philip, 17 vs. Bishop Feehan, 7 – FinalSix different players scored for the Warriors, as KP rolled to a non-league win. Jess Sullivan led the way with six goals, while Caroline Klim added six points (five goals and an assist) of her own. Olivia Tormey had a hat trick, while Victoria Tormey chipped in with a goal and two assists. Mackenzie Mazur and Ali Wilson also scored for the Warriors, while Wilson added an assist as well. Caroline Watson made nine saves in the win.

Sharon, 6 @ Foxboro, 16 – FinalFoxboro senior Sophia DiCenso recorded her 200th career goal as the Warriors rolled to a win in the rain. Emma Eberhardt and Jenna Goldstein each scored twice for the Eagles and Mia Lappen added one. Maeve Barbera, Bridget McManus, and Molly McAlevey each had assists in the loss.

Boys Volleyball
King Philip, 3 vs. Norton, 0 – FinalKing Philip defended home court by sweeping visiting Norton 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-18). Eric Altobello paced the offense with 14 kills while Jimmy Peterson added eight kills. Shea Duffy was strong at the net with three blocks while Max Armour and Mike O’Brien played well defensively with seven digs apiece.

Boys Lacrosse
Foxboro, 8 vs. Norwell, 6 – FinalFoxboro jumped out to a 3-0 lead but needed ti orchestrate a second half comeback to claim its second straight Chowda Cup championship. The Warriors trailed 5-3 in the third, going on a 3-1 run to tie the game at six apiece heading into the fourth. Foxboro pitched a shutout in the fourth with senior Pete Conley and junior Bobby Yerardi scoring inside the final seven minutes to put the Warriors ahead. Senior Brendan Tully led the way with two goals and two assists, junior Shayne Kerrigan scored twice, and junior Aidan Stapleton and sophomore Charlie Baughan each found the back of the net once. Freshman Matt Tully made 12 saves in net for the Warriors.

Franklin, 17 @ Lexington, 7 – FinalFranklin sophomore Matt Lazzaro accounted for 10 points, pacing the Panthers to a win on the road over Lexington. Lazzaro scored seven goals and added three assists, junior Jake Davis scored twice and had three helpers, junior Ben Greco scored one goal and had two assists, and senior Will Harvey chipped in with a pair of goals and one assist. Senior Will Davis turned away 16 shots in net while senior Jacob Alexander won 25-of-30 faceoffs.

Mansfield, 7 vs. Westwood, 17 – FinalMansfield built a 4-1 lead after a quarter of play but couldn’t keep pace with Westwood for the rest of the game. Senior Aidan Sacco scored a team-high three goals, sophomore Jake Quirk scored twice, and seniors Connor Quirk and Brad Grant each scored once for the Hornets.

Girls Lacrosse
Franklin, 11 vs. Lincoln-Sudbury, 4 – FinalClick here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Annie Walsh, Erin Walsh and Kelsey MacCallum each recorded hat tricks and Franklin played what head coach Kristin Igoe Guarino called its best defensive game of the season to secure a win against D1 East rival L-S. Freshmen Jackie O’Neil and Kate O’Rourke also had goals for the Panthers, while goalie Gianna Cameron came through with a number of big saves. The Panthers jumped out to a 5-1 lead at halftime with Erin Walsh scoring twice in the final 2:27 to extend the advantage. The Panthers pulled away with a quick start to the second half, twice extending the lead to as many as eight goals.

Monday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 04/15/19

Boys Lacrosse
Canton, 19 vs. Pembroke, 7 – FinalLocked in a 4-4 tie after one quarter, Canton dominated the next to periods, outscoring the Titans 13-2 to run away with the win. The Bulldogs won the second 7-0 to create the necessary separation and then put the game away with a strong third. Junior Tommy Vaughan paced the offense, scoring five goals and adding one assist while senior Griffin Roach had three goals and one assist. Junior Andrew Canto and senior Dan Cohen each added three goals, and junior Brendan Clifford netted a pair of goals. Freshmen Eddie Gillis and Sam Carlino (two goals) each scored their first career goals for the Bulldogs.

Girls Lacrosse
Franklin, 18 vs. Bromfield, 10 – FinalJunior Erin Walsh accounted for nine points to lead the Panthers to a win over Bromfield, last year’s D2 State Finalists. Walsh scored five goals and had four assists, junior Kelsey MacCallum added four goals and two assists, and senior Annie Walsh found the back of the net four times and had one helper.

King Philip, 12 @ Dover-Sherborn, 13 – FinalCaroline Watson made 14 saves for the Warriors but it wasn’t enough in a hard-fought loss to D-S. Jess Sullivan led the way offensively with five goals and two assists, while Mackenzie Mazur and Caroline Klim both recorded hat tricks. Victoria Tormey had a goal and two assists in the loss.

Tuesday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 04/02/19

Today’s games are listed below.

Softball
Canton, 6 @ Attleboro, 10 – FinalAttleboro rallied from a 6-0 deficit to earn a win in its opening game of the season. The Bombardiers pushed across five runs in the third and three more in the fourth to take the lead. McKenzie Bergdoll went 3-for-4 with a two run home run (in the sixth) and three RBI total. MacKenzie Killough also went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Emily Gittle earned the win in the circle, coming on in relief. She struck out eight in four innings of work. Canton’s Liz Bickett went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple.

Boys Lacrosse
Mansfield, 16 @ Stoughton, 3 – Final Mansfield raced out to a 9-1 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Mike Reed had a team-high four goals and added three assists, Connor Quirk scored three goals and had four assists, and Aidan Sacco (two goals), Jake DiSangro (goal, assist) and Xander Holmes (two assists) each had multi-point games for the Hornets.

Girls Lacrosse
Attleboro, 11 @ Norton, 10 – FinalAttleboro raced out to an 8-3 lead at halftime and then held on after a comeback attempt by the hosts. Kyra Lyons led the offense with five goals, Rylee Fontes added four goals while Sydney DiLiddo, and Holly Kailher each scored once. Maggie Porreca made six saves for the win in net while Attleboro head coach Chrissy Quinn said Sam Fasoldt was excellent on defense for the Bombardiers.

Franklin, 10 vs. Westwood, 14 – Final – Franklin held an 8-5 lead at halftime but a strong second half from the Wolverines gave Westwood the win. Westwood knotted the score 10-10 with just over 10 minutes left. After taking the lead, Franklin pulled the goalie to try and tie the game but the Wolverines cashed in for some empty net goals. Erin Walsh had four goals and two assists to pace Franklin’s offense while Stella Regan scored twice and had one assist. Freshman Kate O’Rourke had a strong game in the midfield with nine draw controls.

#20 Foxboro, 7 @ #13 Cardinal Spellman, 9 – FinalFoxboro twice rallied to tie the game but the Cardinals took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the sixth inning. The Warriors took a 2-0 lead but Spellman responded with five runs. Foxboro rallied to tie it 5-5 with three runs in the top of the third but again, Spellman answered with two runs to take the lead back. Foxboro tied the game with two runs in the top of the sixth but the Cardinals pushed the go-ahead runs across in the bottom half. Devin Hassett had three hits, three RBI, and a run scored, Joe Cavaleri (two runs) and Robert Theriault each had two hits and Chad Bearce added a hit, RBI, and two runs scored.

Softball
D1 South

#19 Attleboro, 1 @ #14 Bishop Feehan, 3 – Final

D2 South
#23 Foxboro, 6 @ #10 Holliston, 3 – FinalHannah Davis went 4-for-4, including two doubles, and stole a base to lead the Warriors to a win in the preliminary round of the tournament. Morgan Sylvestre and Lexi Buckner each added two hits apiece for the Warriors, who had 12 total hits as a team. Emma Rohan tossed a complete game without issuing a walk while striking out one.

#5 Oliver Ames, 15 @ #4 Plymouth South, 11 – FinalOliver Ames scored seven goals in the first half and then found the back of the net eight times in the second half to upend Plymouth South. Colin Bourne led a well-balanced Tigers attack with four goals, Eric LeBlanc scored three times and Owen Gallager, Frankie Ireland, Sam Stevens and Hunter Costello each chipped in with a pair of tallies. Head coach Ben Devlin added his defense had a strong game as well.

#6 Canton, 11 @ #3 Sandwich, 10 – FinalCanton orchestrated a second half comeback to stun third-seeded Sandwich. The Bulldogs trailed 8-4 in the third quarter but rattled off a 7-0 run to take the lead. Senior captain Kevin Albert scored the fifth goal in that run as time expired for put Canton up 9-8, its first lead of the game. Sandwich pulled within a goal with just over three minutes left but a strong defensive effort prevented the tying goal. Head coach Bill Bendell added that Charlie O’Connor and Nick Mackay had big days at the face off X for Canton.

Girls Lacrosse
D1 East

#2 Franklin, 16 vs. #7 Lexington, 4 – FinalFranklin raced out to an 8-2 lead at halftime and duplicated that score in the second half to beat Lexington and advance to the D1 East Semifinal. Erin Walsh (four goals, two assists) and Annie Walsh (five goals, assist) tied for a team-high six points while Kelsey MacCallum (four goals, assist) chipped in with five points. Katie Jones had three goals and one assist for the Panthers and Corrine Lewis had a strong game defensively with two caused turnovers. Franklin will host #3 Concord Carlisle on Monday at 5:00.

#1 North Attleboro, 5 vs. #16 Natick, 0 – FinalNorth Attleboro opened up its playoff campaign in style, winning all five matches in straight sets. Richard Bermudez earned a 7-6 (2), 6-4 win at first singles, Christian Bermudez picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at second singles, and freshman Jonah Manso didn’t lose a game at third singles in a 6-0, 6-0 win. Ben Pfeffer and Vikram Senthilkumaran earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at first doubles and Alex Pfeffer and Sam Gallagher notched a 6-0, 6-2 victory at second doubles.
