Boys Basketball

Canton, 40 @ Foxboro, 46 – FinalFoxboro held the visiting Bulldogs to just two points in the third quarter to get back into the game and then had its best offensive quarter of the game, scoring 18 points in the fourth to earn a comeback win over Canton. The Bulldogs built a 16-6 advantage after eight minutes of action and carried a 28-19 lead into the locker room. Foxboro cut it to just two, down 30-28, going into the fourth. Canton kept the lead for the majority of the fourth, getting an early three from Jacob Solomon, and then another triple from Conor Hunter with 2:19 to play to make it 40-37. An offensive rebound from Alex Penders turned into two free throws from Dylan Gordon to make it a one-point game with just under two minutes to go. Ryan LeClair forced a turnover and Gordon sank a corner three with 1:08 to go to put the Warriors ahead for the first time all half, 42-40. LeClair forced another turnover and Penders sank two free throws with 31 seconds to go and the Warriors ended with back-to-back stops. Gordon had 15 of his team-high 20 points in the second half while Penders scored 10 of his 12 points after the break. Lanse Dorcelus had a team-high 12 points while Matt Chafin added nine points.

King Philip, 46 @ Franklin, 69 – FinalAfter giving up 16 points in the opening quarter, Franklin’s defense limited the visiting Warriors to 11 points or less in each of the next three quarters on its way to a win. Franklin also got off to a good start offensively with 22 points in the opening quarter. The Panthers extended the lead in each of the next three frames, pushing it to seven at halftime (32-25) and a 15-point cushion (51-36) going into the fourth. Sophomore Henry Digiorgio hit a trio of trifectas on his way to a game-high 19 points while Sean O’Leary (11 points) and Sean Vinson (10 points) each hit two three-pointers and finished in double figures. Sophomore Andrew O’Neill scored seven of his eight in the third to help the Panthers pull away. Tommy Martorano led King Philip, scoring all of his team-high 12 points in the first quarter.

Taunton, 83 @ Milford, 41 – FinalTaunton scored 18 or more points in each of the four quarters and had four players in double-figures in its road win over Milford. Sophomore Troy Santos hit a pair of first quarter threes to help the Tigers jump out to a 20-6 lead after a quarter of play and then senior Tristan Herry scored nine of his 15 points in the second as Taunton established a 38-17 lead at halftime. Trent Santos Scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the second half, Faisal Mass finished with 17 points, and sophomore Cyrus Morrisette finished with a career-high 13 points for the Tigers, who hit 32 shots from the field.

Oliver Ames, 65 @ North Attleboro, 42 – FinalOliver Ames junior Zach Tagliamonte continued his hot streak on the offensive end, dropping a game-high 28 points to help the Tigers earn a big win on the road over North Attleboro. Tagliamonte his one three in the first and fourth quarters and hit a pair in both the second and third quarters, hitting a total of 11 shots from the floor to pace the Tigers. After OA took a slight lead after the first quarter (14-12), the Tigers erupted for 22 points in the second to take control of the game. Tagliamonte had eight points and freshman Cole Craffey had seven of his 12 points to help OA grab a 36-21 lead at halftime. The Tigers carried the momentum into the second half, scoring 17 points in the third to push the advantage to 53-32 going into the fourth. Brody Rosenberg led North with 10 points while Casey Poirier had nine.

Stoughton, 81 @ Sharon, 52 – FinalStoughton freshman Matt Greenspoon poured in a career-high 24 points, hitting five three-pointers, and the Black Knights had their best offensive showing of the season in a big win on the road over Sharon. Without leading scorer Connor Andrews due to injury, Greenspoon stepped in and scored 18 of his points after the halftime break to help Stoughton stay ahead from start to finish. Greenspoon hit a pair of threes and Rayan Sablon (20 points), Cash Mathurin, Konrad Rogers, and Jayden Costa Heyward each scored to help Stoughton grab a 22-13 lead after one. Josh Rivera, Sablon, and Costa Heyward each hit threes in the second and then Stoughton hit a trio of threes early in the third quarter, turning a 37-17 halftime lead into a 59-37 lead going into the fourth quarter. Sophomore Nate Katznelson had a team-high 13 points for the Eagles.










Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 54 @ Mansfield, 42 – FinalMeghan Gordon scored 26 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter alone, to power the Bombardiers to an eighth straight win. Attleboro started well, holding the Hornets to just five points in the second and took a 28-15 lead into halftime. Mansfield battled back in the third to cut the lead to seven, but then Gordon caught fire in the fourth and Attleboro outscored the Hornets 17-12 over the final eight minutes to seal the win. Riley Camacho scored 11 for the Bombardiers. Kara Santos was Mansfield’s top scorer with 17 and Abby Wager finished with 15, including 12 in the second half.

Foxboro, 79 @ Canton, 73 – Final (OT)After Canton came roaring back with a big fourth quarter to force overtime, Foxboro scored 15 points in the OT period to pull out the win. Camryn Collins and Kayleigh Sullivan scored 25 points apiece and combined for all 15 in the extra frame. Collins scored 18 of her 25 in the fourth quarter and OT. The Warriors led by 11 heading into the fourth, but Canton’s offense came alive as the Bulldogs scored 25 points to level the score. Fay Gallery led all scorers with 27 for the Bulldogs, including 10 points in the fourth. Kiara Cerruti scored 19, all in the second half, and is now at 999 career points. Sydney Gallery chipped in with 13, seven of those in the fourth quarter. Hannah Blake scored 13 points and Ava Hill had 10 in the win.

Franklin, 48 @ King Philip, 21 – FinalFranklin was held to its lowest points total of the season, but the Panthers locked down on defense, not allowing KP to score more than nine points in a quarter, to stay unbeaten. The Warriors led 6-3 after the first, but the Panthers held KP to three in the second and went into the locker room leading 15-9. Franklin outscored the Warriors 33-12 in the second half to pull out the win. Katie Peterson led all scorers with 14, including eight in the second quarter. Olivia Quinn scored eight and Stefany Padula had seven for the visitors. KP was led by Liv Lafond’s seven points and Elizabeth Molla had four.

North Attleboro, 32 @ Oliver Ames, 45 – FinalOA continued its win streak with a strong defensive effort, holding North to 20 points through the first three quarters. OA led by two, 12-10, after the first quarter but pushed the lead to 23-15 by halftime and then ran away with the win. Sophomores Jasmyn Cooper (12 rebounds) and Sarah Hilliard each scored 12 points apiece for OA. Ava McKeon was the top scorer for the Rocketeers with 16 points and freshman Maryellen Charette added five.

Sharon, 34 @ Stoughton, 38 – FinalStoughton held off the Eagles down the stretch to secure its first win of the season. Senior Evie Lam led the charge offensively with a team-high 12 points while sophomore Katrina Varnum sank some clutch free throws down the stretch, finishing with eight points. Alyssa Edwards and Vanessa Phelimond each hauled in seven rebounds for Stoughton. Rachael Hager scored 13 and Jasmine Davis added 12 points for the Eagles.

Boys Hockey
Oliver Ames, 3 @ Attleboro, 1 – FinalOliver Ames grabbed its second road win in a three-day span, snagging a 3-1 win over the Bombardiers. Freshman Shaun Teehan opened the scoring while sophomore Jack Corey and senior Elliot Cohen each found the back of the net as well. Landon Grothe, Dan Paul, and Corey each had an assist while Brandon Burke made 23 saves for the win.

Taunton, 4 @ Apponequet, 1 – FinalTaunton senior Loran Corcoran scored a hat trick to lead the Tigers to a win on the road over Apponequet in the first of three meetings between the two teams this year. Sophomore Conner Goranson added the other goal while junior Connor McGrath and freshman Jonathan McGrath each had a pair of assists. Freshman Cam Tomaszycki recored 29 saves to get the win in net for Taunton.
