#7 Mansfield vs. #5 BC High, 7:00 – Postponed to Tuesday, 6/11 at 4:00 at Campanelli Stadium.

D1 South
#12 Catholic Memorial, 3 @ #4 Taunton, 4 – FinalTaunton rallied from a 3-0 deficit, scoring twice in the fifth inning and then twice more in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the win. Evan Melo got the Tigers on the board while Nic Notarangelo (2-for-3, walk) had a hit and scored a run in the fifth. In the seventh, Jared Roderick (walk), Andrew Gomes (error), and Melo (walk) loaded the bases with no outs. Gavin Leahy brought in the tying run with a sacrifice fly. After Notarangelo singled to load the bases again, Lucas Martins laid down a bunt to squeeze Nolan Melo in for the winning run. Junior Logan Lawrence earned the win on the mound, allowing three runs on seven hits and no walks, striking out eight. Taunton will travel to #9 Xaverian on Wednesday at 4:00.

#14 Bridgewater-Raynham, 7 @ #11 Attleboro, 8 – FinalAttleboro overcame an early deficit and then held off a late B-R charge to get the win and advance to the D1 South Semifinals. The Trojans raced out to a 4-1 lead over the first 1.5 innings, with Ryan Morry drawing a bases-loaded walk to score Tim Callahan (2-for-4, two runs). Morry (5.2IP, 6K) was strong in relief, which allowed Attleboro to get back into the game. Attleboro jumped in front for good with a five-run second inning. Sam Larkin (2-for-2) knocked in Troy Van Vliet with a single, Camden Fitzpatrick drove in both Callahan and Alvaro Espinal (two walks), and Lorenzo Wilson scorched a triple into the gap to bring two more runs in to make it 5-4. Larkin knocked in Van Vliet in the third, and Van Vliet scored his third run of the game on a sac fly from Espinal in the sixth inning. Attleboro will play #2 Durfee on Wednesday at 4:00 at Fino Field in Milford.

D2 South
#11 Oliver Ames, 3 @ #3 Dartmouth, 1 – Final (9 Inn.)Oliver Ames loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the ninth and pushed across two runs to pick up an upset on the road. Jake Erlich and Chris Pearsons (2-for-4, RBI) singled, and Jacob Levine was hit by a pitch in the top of the ninth before senior Reid Latham put the Tigers in front with a one-run single. Cam Perron brought a second run in with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1. Pearsons was strong on the mound, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks, striking out five in seven innings of work. Latham got the win in relief, tossing two scoreless innings in relief. Latham got a pair of strikeouts in the bottom of the eighth to strand the winning run at third. Jared Spillane (two walks) was vital in the win, stealing second and scoring on an infield single from Pearsons to put OA up in the fourth. Spillane also started a double play in the bottom of the ninth to help secure the win. Oliver Ames will play #7 Westwood on Wednesday at 4:00 at Adams Field in Quincy.

#8 North Attleboro, 0 @ #1 Bridgewater-Raynham, 1 – FinalNorth Attleboro’s Bella Erti and Bridgewater-Raynham’s Julia Perry put on a show for those in attendance, going back-and-forth in a pitcher’s dual. The Trojans managed just six hits against Erti, who struck out three (including the 400th of her career), getting a bloop single in the bottom of the ninth for the win. Olivia Capobianco and Ashley Cangiano each had a hit for the Rocketeers, Abby Gallagher had a pair of walks, and Emily Nardelli shined defensively at second for North.

#11 Franklin, 0 @ #3 Bishop Feehan, 1 – FinalA strong pitching performance from Jackie Cherry and an outstanding defensive effort behind her kept the Panthers in contention for the entire game but the Shamrocks earned a walk-off win with a pair of hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Tara Hartnett had the lone hit of the game for the Panthers.

Boys Lacrosse
D1 South

#6 Duxbury, 8 vs. #2 Franklin, 7 – FinalFranklin held the Dragons without a goal for nearly the entire fourth quarter but Duxbury scored its lone tally of the frame with 16.9 seconds left, finishing off a lengthy offensive possession for the game-winner. Franklin trailed 7-5 after three quarters but Jake Davis (three goals) scored twice in a two-minute span to knot the score 7-7 with three minutes to play. Duxbury scored on a close shot with 16.9 left for the winner. Ben Greco also had three goals for Franklin while Nitin Chaudhury scored once.

Girls Tennis
D1 South

#4 Hopkinton, 2 @ #1 Sharon, 3 – FinalSharon picked up two wins in singles action and another in doubles to nip Hopkinton and advance to the D1 South Final. Nupur Shukla earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at first singles, Valeria Barajas picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at second singles, and the team of Lauren Glass and Makaila Cheung won 6-4, 6-2 at second doubles. Sharon (21-0) will play #2 Wellesley (19-0) on Wednesday at 4:00 at Somerset-Berkley. It’s the fourth time in the past five years the Eagles have reached the sectional final and third time they will take on the Raiders. Wellesley won in 2016 and Sharon won in 2017 – both teams went on to win the state title that season.

Nupur Shukla won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, Valeria Barajas picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at second singles, and Charlize Martinez earned a 6-3, 6-3 decision at third singles. The team of Sophia Fein and Sachi Basin prevailed 7-5, 7-5 at first doubles while Lauren Glass and Makaila Cheung secured a 6-3, 6-1 decision at second doubles.

Mansfield, 8 @ Bishop Feehan, 3 – FinalMansfield wasted little time in getting the offense going, plating six runs in the top of the first inning and never looking back in a win over the Shamrocks. Sam Nugent (run, RBI), Dan Saraceno (run), and Mike Hargadon (RBI) each had two hits for the Hornets, who belted out 12 hits as a team. Kyle Moran, John Carney, and Nick Dumouchel each added an RBI and a run scored in the win. John Carney allowed just two hits in three innings of work, striking out a pair. Matt Scibilia struck out three while allowing one run on three hits in 1.2 innings of work for the win.

Oliver Ames, 6 vs. New Bedford, 1 – FinalOliver Ames won its fourth straight game to punch its ticket to the state tournament. Holding a 6-10 record for tournament purposes (both Brockton games are excluded), the Tigers picked up wins over King Philip, Dighton-Rehoboth, Foxboro (in 13 innings), and now New Bedford. Reid Latham shined on the mound, allowing just one run on four hits and no walks, striking out three in a complete game effort for the win. Junior Jacob Levine had a pair of hits for the Tigers while senior CJ Deveau drove in three runs. Matt McCormack and Cam Perron each had three hits while Latham and Jake Erlich both had two hits.

Stoughton, 2 @ Austin Prep, 6 – Final

Taunton, 7 @ Durfee, 1 – FinalSophomore Danny MacDougall had a strong outing on the mound, allowing just one hit with no walks allowed in 4.2 innings of work, striking out four to earn the win. Offensively, both senior Gavin Leahy (RBI, two runs) and junior Colby Lariviere (two RBI, two runs) each had two hits for the Tigers while junior Joseph Crawford drove in a pair of runs.

Softball
North Attleboro, 2 @ Attleboro, 4 – FinalAshley Cangiano and Alex Moulson each doubled and Mandi Hanewich tripled in the loss for the Rocketeers. Cangiano and Hanewich each scored for North.

Franklin, 2 vs. Bishop Feehan, 3 – Final

Oliver Ames, 1 @ King Philip, 15 – FinalKing Philip’s offense exploded for 11 runs in the first inning and never looked back in a win over Oliver Ames. Grace Kelley, Heather Nix, and Meghan Gorman all had two-run hits in the opening frame to help the Warriors jump ahead. Liliana Rolfe, Nix, and Abby Carey had multiple hits for King Philip. Senior Katie Mills had an RBI for OA, driving in sophomore Taylor Lake (single, walk) while junior Katie Abreu had two hits for the Tigers.

Mansfield, 13 vs. Holliston, 0 – FinalThe Hornets closed the regular season by shutting out Holliston for the second straight day. Sarah Cahill tossed her second straight two-hitter, striking out eight on Thursday. It took a few innings for the Hornets to get the offense going on Wednesday, but at home Mansfield jumped out to a lead in the opening inning. Kara Bendanillo and Megan Letendre each singled and Mady Bendanillo walked to load the bases. Caty DeMassi knocked in a run with a fielder’s choice and Mary Muldoon plated two with a triple, before she scored on a Casey Mousette single. The Hornets added three in the second with Emma Roche, Mousette, and Sydney Woods all had RBI singles. DeMassi drove in two runs in the third with a double to put the hosts ahead 10-0. In the sixth, Woods closed out the game with a triple to end the scoring. Mansfield pounded out 15 hits as a team.

Stoughton, 5 @ Brockton, 0 – FinalStoughton sophomore Nicole Baker tossed a four-hit shutout to help the Black Knights finish the regular season with a win. Baker also got a strong performance from the defense behind her as Stoughton head coach Deb Parker said “The team showed up to play today and everyone did their job.” Karly Estremera led the offense with three hits, including a double while Sydney Menz added two hits (one triple) and two runs scored. Nikki Coppola chipped in with a pair of doubles and RBI and Lexi Baptista smacked a solo home run for Stoughton.




Girls Lacrosse
Milford, 8 vs. Norton, 6 – FinalMilford senior Sophia Bucal scored three goals and fellow captains Katie Drysdale and Emily Haley each had a goal and an assist as the Scarlet Hawks finished on a high note with a win over Norton. Senior Riley Campbell added a goal while senior goalie Savanna Rosado earned the win in net. Junior Elena Bon Tempo added two goals and classmate Kat Swineford chipped in with an assist.

Boys Tennis
King Philip, 5 @ Taunton, 0 – FinalKing Philip went on the road and swept Taunton to grab a share of the Kelley-Rex division title, the third straight for the program. Marco DiStefano won 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) at first singles, Nick Putney didn’t drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 decision at second singles, and Jack Cannon picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles. The team of Nate Ihley and Tyler Dowd won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles while Jake Mager and Max Goreham prevailed 6-3, 6-0 at second doubles.

Stoughton, 2 @ Milford, 3 – FinalMilford defended home court, sweeping doubles play and adding one more win in singles action to beat Stoughton. Cam Doherty won 6-3, 6-4 at third singles, the team of Zach Austin and Tiago Viera won 7-6, 7-5 at first singles, and Ben Johnson and Dylan Wang earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at second doubles for Milford. Stoughton’s Waseem Sablon won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles while Erik Anderson picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win at second singles.

Sharon, 2 @ North Attleboro, 3 – FinalNorth Attleboro sophomore Sam Gallagher battled for a 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 win at second singles to give the Rocketeers a win over visiting Sharon. The Rocketeers also got wins in double action as Tomas Bentley and Vikram Senthilakumaran picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at first doubles and the team of juniors Will Redding and Isa Siddiq won 6-0, 6-2 at second doubles. Sharon’s Alberto Olivei won 6-3, 6-1 at first singles while Max Chen earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at third singles.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – FinalSharon swept all three singles matches and added another point from doubles play to fend off visiting North Attleboro. Nupur Shukla won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, Charlize Martinez picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles, and Sophia Fein secured a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles. Makaila Cheung and Anjali Jha prevailed 7-6, 6-1 at second doubles for the Eagles. North Attleboro’s Sam Martino and Haley Strom won 7-5, 6-1 at first doubles.

#9 Taunton, 3 @ #8 Durfee, 2 – FinalTaunton rallied from a 2-0 deficit to earn an upset win on the road at Durfee. The Tigers fell behind after dropping the first two sets 22-25 and 15-25. But Taunton stayed alive with a 25-17 win in the third game and forced a winner take all fifth set with a 25-22 in Game 4. Taunton got the win in the final set, 15-10. Sophomore Tyler Stewart had 24 kills to lead the way.

North Attleboro, 6 @ King Philip, 5 – Final (OT)North Attleboro’s defense and goalie kept the Rocketeers in the game and freshman Matt Antonetti scored in overtime for the game-winner. After starting 1-6, North Attleboro won for the eighth time in its last nine games to punch its ticket to the state tournament. Antonetti finished with three goals while Young praised his defense’s effort in front of Jake McNeany (19 saves).

Mansfield, 15 @ Sharon, 9 – Final

Oliver Ames, 15 @ Stoughton, 2 – FinalFrankie Ireland, Sam Stevens, and Remi Creighton each had four points to pace the Tigers to a win over Stoughton. Ireland scored a hat trick with one assist while Stevens and Creighton each had one goal and three assists. Senior Cullen Gallagher also scored for the Tigers.




Girls Lacrosse
Attleboro, 10 @ Taunton, 15 – FinalTaunton sophomore Alana Tavares scored 10 goals to pace the Tigers to a win over visiting Attleboro. Tasia Lajoie added two goals and two helpers while Kamryn Li, Angie Lynch, and Emma Sheehan each scored once for Taunton. Emily Gannon made six saves in the win.

Canton, 1 @ Franklin, 11 – FinalFranklin seniors Annie Walsh and Hailey Toolin both had solid performances for the Panthers in a rain-shortened contest.

King Philip, 22 @ North Attleboro, 9 – FinalJess Sullivan scored four goals and added four assists to lead the way for the Warriors on the road. Mackenzie Mazur scored five times and Caroline Klim added four in the win. KP also got a hat trick from Dana Truini, a goal and two assists from Lily Brown, two goals apiece by Peyton Mellman and Olivia Tormey, and one goal from Ali Wilson. Caroline Watson recorded 14 saves for KP.

Liam Marr didn’t drop a game at first singles in a 6-0, 6-0 win while Rohan Herur won 6-1, 6-0 at second singles and Shoumik Sompally picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at third singles. The team of Saketh Saripalli and Lucas Gulick secured a 6-3, 6-0 win at first doubles while Ryan McSweeney and Thomas Broyles won 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles.

The team of Tyler Dowd and Andy Cook won 6-2, 6-2 at first doubles.

Franklin, 1 @ Taunton, 0 – Final (11 inn.)With the bases loaded in the top of the 11th, Franklin senior Alex Haba stole home for the winning run for the Panthers. Haba singled up the middle to reach base and was on third with two outs before sprinting home. It was a pitcher’s duel between starters Brennan Rivera (8IP, 4H, 4K 0BB) and Taunton’s Jack Moynihan (8IP, 3H, 10K, 1BB). Will Pacheco earned the win in relief for Franklin, tossing two innings with three hits, two walks, and one strikeout. Liam Dailey inherited the tying run in the bottom of the 11th but earned three straight outs for the save. Danny MacDougall and Andrew Gomes had two hits apiece for Taunton.

Foxboro, 1 @ Stoughton, 7 – FinalKarly Estremera, Lexi Baptista, and Nicole Baker all had two hits, including a double each to pace the Black Knights to a win at home over Foxboro. Brianna Ferrandiz and Sydney Menz both had a pair or singles while Jordan Lyons and Sarah McGrath each had a base hit for Stoughton. Baker earned her sixth win of the season in the circle, scattering six hits while striking out seven in front of a strong Stoughton defense.

In singles action, sophomore Nick Putney, junior Jack Cannon, and senior Zak Ryan each won 6-0, 6-0 at first, second, and third singles, respectively.

Canton, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – FinalDanujan Thirumavalavan, Alberto Olivei, and Rueman Bhattacharyya all earned wins in singles action for the Eagles, who knocked off visiting Canton. The team of Max Brody and Max Chen won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles for Sharon as well. Cnaton’s Tyler Duffy and Justin Luk rallied for a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win at second doubles.

Foxboro, 3 @ Stoughton, 2 – FinalStoughton won at first and second singles but Foxboro took third and swept doubles play to earn the victory over the Black Knights. Bo Canfield won 6-4, 6-0 at third singled, the team of Brian Gardner and Sean McAvoy won 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles, and Noah Hicks and Justin Neale prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at second doubles. Stoughton sophomore Waseem Sablon won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles and senior Erik Anderson took a 6-4, 6-4 decision at second singles.

The team of Peter Rouvalis and Kai Schirmacher won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles for the Hornets.

Erin Regnier won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, Katarina Schneider earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at second singles, and Mia Velancia notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles. Attleboro, 58 @ Oliver Ames, 78 – FinalOliver Ames’ Aaron MacDonald was a quadruple winner and the Tigers swept the relays to earn a victory over Attleboro. MacDonald won the 400M (52.8), the 200M (23.0), the long jump (19’10”), and the triple jump (40’11”) for the Tigers. Chucky Akanegbu, Jared Boone, Collin Williamson, and Ashton Hart teamed up for a win in the 4×100 relay (47.5) while Sean Flaherty, Nate Reservitz, Alex Ramirez, and Zane Reservitz (3:46.1) won the 4×400. Flaherty also won the 400M hurdles (59.8) and Zane Reservitz earned a victory in the 1 Mile (4:48.7). Other winners for OA included Kyle Sarney (2 Mile, 10:11.6), Quinn Proudler (shot put, 41’6″) and Ryan Tamasanis (high jump, 5’8″).

Stoughton, 94 @ Canton, 42 – FinalTommy Pulcini and Cam Sanchez took first and second, respectively, in the discus with both posting big PRs for the Bulldogs. Sanchez also had a third place finish in the 100M while Deyontai Dennis had a four second PR to qualify for divisionals in the 400M hurdles, while adding a third place finish in the high jump. Junior Sainvil won the 100M dash while taking third in the long jump and the 200M for Canton.

Franklin, 50 @ Mansfield, 86 – FinalMansfield’s Andrew Williams won three events, anchoring a sweep in the high jump, to help the Hornets get a win over Franklin. Williams took first in the high jump (6’2) with Ethan Thevenot (5’10) and Drew Rooney (5’6) taking second and third. Williams also won the long jump (16’2) and the 110M hurdles (16.6). Greg Waters was a double winner for Mansfield, taking the 100M dash in 11.1 and the 200M in 23.2 with Anthony Comer taking second in both events. Other winners for Mansfield included Danny Knight (400M, 51.9), Jason Windvogel (800M, 2:00.4) and Danny Rapoza (javelin, 144′ 2.5″).

Stoughton, 62 @ Canton, 54 – FinalCanton’s Maddie Rousseau went unbeaten for the second straight dual meet, earning wins in the 100M, 200M, long jump, and triple jump to pace the Bulldogs. Rousseau qualified for the 200M with her win. Sarah Collins also notched two wins, taking first in the 400M hurdles and 400M. Chloe Pennacchio added first place finishes in the 1 Mile and 2 Mile and Annie Hoban used a strong final kick to take first in the 800M. Bronwyn Mahoney took first in the discus and grabbed second in the shot put while freshman Talya Mendez-DeGraw placed third in the 100M and qualified for divisionals with a leap of 4’10” in the high jump.

Franklin, 54 @ Mansfield, 82 – Final Mansfield senior Amanda Mangano shined, winning four events to help the Hornets beat visiting Franklin. Mangano won 100M dash, 200M dash, long jump, and the high jump for the Hornets. Freshmen Anna Darlington (400M) and Megan Johnston, (2 Mile) each won an event while classmate Anna Buckley broke the school record for freshman in the triple jump and the high jump. Senior Julia Hill won the triple jump while taking second in the 400M hurdles and the long jump.

Junior Max Amaral pitched five innings for Attleboro, scattering three hits with one run allowed in his first varsity start. Senior Mason Houle paced the offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Troy Gamache (RBI), Bailey Camacho (double, run), Tim Callahan, and Robbie Furtado each had a hit for Attleboro.

Canton, 2 @ Franklin, 3 – Final (8 inn.)Franklin senior Cooper Ross drove in the game-winning in the bottom of the eighth inning, his second RBI of the game, to give the Panthers a walkoff win over Canton. Ross singled in classmate Alex Haba, who singled and stole second to get in scoring position. Canton scored in the first inning off an RBI double from Matt Pigeon but Franklin took the lead away with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Scott Elliott drew a one-out walk and moved to third on a double from Haba. Jake Macchi brought the first run home with a sacrifice fly, and Haba scored when Ross reached on an error. Brennan Rivera earned the win for the Panthers, striking out eight in a complete game effort. Rivera walked just one batter (the first of the game) and scattered four hits.

Attleboro scored scored once in the second, added three runs in each the third and fifth innings and put the game out of reach with a four-run sixth inning to walk out of Frothingham Park with an 11-1 over the Tigers. Senior Eoin Kelleher shined on the mound as well as at the dish to pace the Bombardiers. He went six innings, scattering four hits and striking out six with one run allowed. He added a double, an RBI, and a run scored offensively while Sam Larkin (two RBI), Tim Callahan (two RBI), and Mason Houle (double, RBI) each had a pair of hits for Attleboro.

Canton, 2 @ Stoughton, 4 – FinalCanton jumped out to a 2-0 lead but Stoughton scored four runs, all on two-out hits, over the final three innings to earn the win. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second and made it 2-0 in the top fo the fifth. In the bottom half, Robbie Seaman (2-for-3) connected for a two-out, two-run single to knot the score. The Black Knights added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead. Sophomore Brady Conlin (2-for-3) led off with a single and pinch-runner Jake Queeney came around to score on a two-out single from Mike Nazzaro (2-for-3). Zak Paquette then knocked in Nazzaro to make it 4-2. Paquette earned the win on the mound, tossing a complete game allowing six hits with two runs (0 ER), two strikeouts, and three walks.

Foxboro, 7 @ Milford, 8 – FinalMilford sophomore Carter Scudo put the ball in play and senior Matt Shaver scored from third as the Scarlet Hawks walked off with a win over visiting Foxboro. The Warriors held a 7-6 lead entering the final inning but were done in by three fielding errors in the bottom of the seventh. Scudo finished with a double, RBI, and a run scored while senior Tyler Almeida drew three walks and scored twice. Danny Corsini went five innings on the mound for the Hawks while Nick Marcolini earned the win in relief, allowing one hit and striking out one in two innings of work. Foxboro’s Michael Devlin went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, Brian Duncan added three hits, an RBI, and a run scored, and Joe Cavaleri and Sean Yoest each recorded two RBI for Foxboro.

King Philip, 1 @ Taunton, 0 – Final (10 inn.)Both King Philip starter David Morganelli and Taunton starter Logan Lawrence pitched into extra innings in a terrific pitchers’ duel on Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors were able to string together three hits in the 10th, the last being an RBI single from Morganelli to score Matt Munnafo for the winning run. Morganelli tossed 8.1 scoreless innings, striking out five while allowing five hits and two walks. Chris Sawyer earned the win in relief with 1.2 scoreless innings. Taunton junior Logan Lawrence pitched eight scoreless innings for the Tigers, scattering three hits and two walks while striking out seven.

The Tigers scored a run in each the first and second innings but the Bombardiers’ offense proved to be too much. Killough also had two doubles and finished with two RBI, Kayla Baptiste went 3-for-3 with two RBI, Jordyn Lako had two hits, including a triple and three RBI, Lindsay Perry had a double and two RBI, and Bergdoll added two hits and two RBI at the plate. OA sophomore Grace Simone was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Freshman Anna Balestino was 1-for-2 with an RBI while senior Colleen Larson scored the other run for OA.

Canton, 4 @ Stoughton, 7 – FinalStoughton belted out 14 hits on its way its third win of the season, knocking off rival Canton, 7-4. Each player in the Black Knight recorded at least one hit with Karly Estremera leading the way with three. Jordan Lyons, Nikki Coppola and Lexi Baptista each had two hits for the Knights. Nicole Baker had another solid performance in the circle to earn the win. Canton’s Liz Bickett went 3-for-4 with a triple, a pair of singles, and two RBI for the Bulldogs.

Foxboro, 21 @ Milford, 5 – Final (5 inn.)Riley Martignetti had three hits and drove in five runs and freshman Peyton Feldman had three hits and three RBI from the lead-off spot to power Foxboro to a big win on the road. Camryn Willis also had three hits for the Warriors, while Morgan Sylvestre went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Emma Rohan went the distance in the circle to get the win. Foxboro coach Mark Maguire called it a complete team performance, as Foxboro got contributions throughout the lineup and all nine starters recorded at least one hit. Milford sophomore Carly Ferreira went 2-for-2 with two RBI, two runs scored and two triples while junior Amanda Wenckus smacked a two-run home run for the Hawks.

Franklin, 11 @ Mansfield, 6 – FinalMansfield scored three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to cut Franklin’s lead to just three runs (8-5) but the Panthers responded with three runs in the top of the seventh to secure the lead and a win on the road. Franklin jumped out to an 8-0 lead, with Gabby Colace (2-for-2, double, three runs, five RBI) putting the Panthers ahead with a two-run home run in the second inning. The Panthers added five runs in the second and one in the fourth for the 8-0 advantage. After Mansfield cut it to 8-5 through six innings, Franklin senior Jackie Cherry launched a three-run home run to give the Panthers breathing room. Ally Shea (double), Anna Balkus, Peyton Aronne (two RBI), and Maddy White (RBI, run) each had two hits for Franklin. Mansfield left runners on base in every inning but the fourth, including leaving the bases loaded in the first, third, and the seventh. Ella Verheggen went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the loss and the Hornets also got two hits apiece from Mary Muldoon and Sarah Cahill. Emma Roche came off the bench with her first hit of the year to start a sixth inning rally.

North Attleboro, 14 @ Sharon, 3 – FinalNorth Attleboro junior pitcher Bella Erti allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out 11 to help the Rocketeers pick up a win on the road. Annabelle Hebard paced North Attleboro’s offense by going 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI. Ashley Cangiano and Belle Clarkin each had three hits while Emily Nardelli (home run), Katy Daby, Erti, Alex Moulson and Emma Bailey each had two hits. North freshman Mandi Hanewich had a hit, stolen base, RBI, and a run scored. Julia Earley hit a two-run homer for the Eagles in the third inning.

Canton, 7 @ Sharon, 8 – FinalClick here for a Photo Gallery from this game. 0 The Eagles took control of the game with a 4-0 run in the second half that turned a 5-3 halftime deficit into a 7-5 lead with eight minutes to play. Sharon made a defensive stand over the final minute to keep the Bulldogs out and hold on for the victory. Rowan Barnes had a goal and assist in the first quarter as Sharon jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Tommy Vaughan scored to cut the lead in half and then had a behind the back pass to David Allen for the tying goal early in the second. Vaughan then forced a turnover that led to a Chris Lavoie goal to put Canton in front 3-2, but Dan Lillenfeld responded immediately, catching the Bulldogs in transition, to tie it. In the final minute of the half, Griffin Roach and Matt Martin each scored to make it 5-3. Lillenfeld scored the lone goal of the third quarter to make it 5-4 and the Eagles tied it on a Drew Litner goal early in the fourth. Litner added his second to put Sharon ahead and Lillenfeld secured his hat trick with Sharon’s seventh. Roach got Canton back within one but Zack Waxman scored a man-up goal to double the lead. Vaughan got free for his second goal with two minutes left and Canton had possession in the final minute of the game but Adam Rabb made a big save and the Eagles held on.

Milford, 9 @ Attleboro, 8 – Final (OT)Milford’s Josh Ligor scored the game-winner in overtime to deliver the Scarlet Hawks a dramatic win on the road. Ryan Hazard paced the Hawks’ offense with five goals and an assist while Brendan White scored twice and Mike Demko had one goal. Milford coach Jacob Scordato said Danny Farrell and Jack LeBlanc had great defensive performances in front of Evan Hazard (22 saves).

Franklin, 20 @ North Attleboro, 6 – FinalFranklin senior Jacob Alexander won 21-of-27 faceoffs, helping the Panthers control possession in a 20-6 win on the road at North Attleboro. Matt Lazzaro paced the Panther offense with five seven goals and four assists, Jake Davis added five goals, Ben Greco chipped in with two goals and two assists, and Alexander added a pair of goals and assists in the win.

Mansfield, 5 @ Oliver Ames, 11 – FinalMansfield scored the first goal of the game but Oliver Ames rattled off seven straight to take a commanding lead at halftime and never surrendered that advantage. OA junior Shane Kilkelly scored three goals and assisted on four more while Colin Bourne had a strong game with four goals. Sam Stevens and Sandro Mascierelli each added a pair of goals while Nick Gillis made 13 saves in goal. Mike Reed scored twice and had an assist for the Hornets, Aidan Sacco scored once and had one helper, and Tom Norton and Brad Grant each scored once.

Attleboro, 13 @ Milford, 14 – FinalAnnie Flanagan scored five times and Emily Haley added four to lead the Hawks to a come from behind victory. Milford scored the game’s final four goals, including Flanagan’s winner with only 35 seconds remaining. Elena Bon Tempo and Riley Campbell each scored twice for the hosts, Sophia Bucal added one, and goalie Savanna Rosado made critical saves down the stretch to help the Hawks come out on top. Attleboro’s Kyra Lyons scored a game-high 10 goals while Rylee Fontes added two and Sydney DiLiddo added one for the Bombardiers.

Sharon, 8 @ Canton, 5 – FinalRose Wald made nine saves in goal and the midfield collected 13-of-15 draw controls, including a team-high six by Bridget McManus, to help the Eagles hold off Canton in a big Davenport matchup. The Sharon attack clicked today, with five of the eight goals coming off assists. Emma Eberhardt was involved in all eight goals, scoring five and assisting on three others. Jenna Goldstein scored twice, Cass Barbera added one, and Mia Lappen had an assist for the Eagles. Kaitlyn Goyetch scored a hat trick for Canton in the loss.

North Attleboro, 3 @ Franklin, 19 – FinalFranklin notched its third win of the season with a big victory at home over visiting North Attleboro. Annie Walsh led the way with five goals and two assists while Kelsey MacCallum scored six goals with one helper. Franklin coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said Hailey Toolin had a strong day in the midfield and on defense with three draw controls.

Oliver Ames, 9 @ Mansfield, 15 – FinalClick here for a photo gallery of this game. – Mansfield pulled away in the second half to earn the Kelley-Rex division win. The Hornets led 7-5 at the half and just 9-8 early in the second half but closed the game on a 6-1 run to seal the victory. Katie Garvin scored seven times for Mansfield and Hayleigh Crawford added four. Katie McCarthy made three saves in the win and the Hornets got strong play on draw controls by Lauren Whitman. Maddie Kullen had a big game for the Tigers to keep the game close and head coach Nicole Lang rued OA’s inability to capitalize on the offensive opportunities it created.

King Philip, 19 @ Taunton, 7 – FinalNine different players scored for the Warriors in a big road win. Caroline Klim led the way with five goals and Dana Truini added four for KP. Ali Wilson had two goals and Jessica Sullivan scored twice and assisted on a third, while Victoria Tormey and Jenna Hitchen each scored once. Three players scored their first varsity goals for the Warriors. Haley Izydorczak had her first two goals and an assist, Lily Brown scored her first goal and had an assist, and Julia Marsden opener her varsity account with a goal as well.

Stoughton, 2 @ Canton, 3 – FinalCanton freshman Suraj Ramanathan won his third match of the year at first singles, picking up a 6-0, 6-4 win to pace the Bulldogs to a win over Stoughton. Sophomore Minh Duong added a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles and the team of Tyler Duffy and Justin Luk were winners at second doubles won 6-1, 6-4 at second doubles for the Bulldogs. Stoughton freshman Anish Sinha won 3-6, 6-3, 12-10 at third singles while the team of Hassan Khan and LJ Ferrandiz secured a 6-0, 6-2 win at first doubles.

Milford, 1 @ Foxboro, 4 – FinalFoxboro earned a pair of wins in both singles and doubles action to pick up a 4-1 victory over visiting Milford. Sophomore Jason Kandula won 7-5, 6-4 at second singles and freshman Bo Canfield earned a 6-1, 6-4 decision at third singles for the Warriors. The team of senior Brian Gardner and junior Sean McAvoy won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles while junior Noah Hicks and sophomore Justin Neale prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles. Milford’s Brendan O’Shaughnessy won 7-6 (3), 6-7 (4), 10-5 in a hard fought match at first singles.

Franklin, 3 @ Mansfield, 2 – FinalClick here for a photo gallery of this game. – Franklin swept doubles play and earned one more win in singles action to edge Mansfield at Memorial Park. Rohan Herur was the lone singles winner for the Panthers, earning a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles. The team of senior Saketh Saripalli and freshman Vayshnav Malhotra won 6-0, 6-2 at first doubles and juniors Shoyaib Shaik and Shoumik Sompally prevailed 7-6 (3), 7-5 at second doubles. Mansfield’s Luke Nickerson won 7-5, 6-1 at first singles and Nilay Pangrekar scored a 6-0, 6-4 win at third singles.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Sharon, 4 – FinalNorth Attleboro sophomore Jonah Manso prevailed in a three-set match at first singles but Sharon picked up wins in the other two singles matches while sweeping doubles play. Junior Alberto Olivei won 6-0, 6-0 at second singles and freshman Rueman Bhattacharyya secured a 6-4, 6-1 victory at third singles. Sharon’s Max Brody and Max Chen earned a 6-3, 6-0 win at first doubles while Alex Aspel and Jake Ross prevailed 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 in a tight match at second doubles. Manso won 7-6, 1-6, 6-1 at first singles for Big Red.

Junior Alvaro Espinal knocked in Max Amaral with a two-out RBI single in the seventh for the winning run. Nick McMahon (3.2 innings) and Anthony Deyesso (3 innings, win) were stellar in relief for Attleboro.

Foxboro, 0 @ Taunton, 6 – FinalTaunton senior Jack Moynihan earned the win on the mound and had a strong day at the plate to lead the Tigers to a win over visiting Foxboro. Moynihan tossed six scoreless inning, scattering four hits and two walks while striking out six to earn the win. Offensively, Moynihan went 2-for-3 with two RBI while Logan Lawrence had three hits, including a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored for Taunton. Freshman Tom Marcucella had two hits for the Warriors.

Jake Erlich (two doubles), Jared Spillane (two runs), and Sean O’Brien (who had a great defensive game) each had two hits for the Tigers. Reid Latham earned the win for OA, allowing just four hits and striking out four in 6.1 innings of work. Nick Boudreau picked up the save for OA.

Karly Estremera had an impressive day at the plate, hitting three triples, scoring three runs and recording one RBI while Bri Ferrandiz added three hits and two RBI. Attleboro, 50 @ Mansfield, 86 – FinalMansfield’s Andrew Williams won a pair of events and took second in another, setting new personal bests in all three, to pace the Hornets to a win over Attleboro. Williams on the high jump (6’4) and the long jump (20’3″) while taking second in the 110M hurdles (16.7). Sophomore Anthony Comer was also a double winner, taking first in the 100M dash (11.0) and 200M dash (22.8.). Dan Knight (PR of 52.1), Tyler King, and Jack Rivard swept the 400M while Jason Windvogel (2:02) and Peter Oldow (2:06) went 1-2 in the 800. Patrick Heavey (4:40) and Pete Sullivan (4:41) finished first and second, respectively, in the 1 Mile.

Canton, 81 @ Foxboro, 54 – FinalCanton’s Deyontai Dennis won three individual events and was a member of a winning relay team, pacing the Bulldogs to a win over Foxboro. Dennis took first in the high jump, the long jump, the 400M hurdles, and anchored the Bulldogs’ 4×400 relay team. Tommy Pulcini was first in the shot put and second in the discus while Junior Sainvil took first in the triple jump and the 100M dash, and second in the long jump and 200M.

Attleboro, 42 @ Mansfield, 94 – Final – Mansfield’s Amanda Mangano took first in three individual events and was a member of the winning 4×100 relay team in the Hornets’ big win over Attleboro. Mangano won the 100M (12.6), the long jump (16-3), and the high jump (5-0) while teaming up with Alexis Kiyanda, Emily Quitzau, and Zoe Plante to win the 4×100 (52.3). Julia Hill was a double winner, crossing first in the 400M hurdles (71.6) and the triple jump (34-2). Freshman Katie Miller won the 800M (2:30.8) and freshmen Maria Sevastos (64.3) and Anna Darlingto (64.6)n took first and second, respectively, in the 400.

Canton, 51 @ Foxboro, 85 – FinalFor Canton, Maddie Rousseau won the 200, the long jump, and the triple jump while taking second in the 100. Sarah Collins was also a double winner for the Bulldogs, grabbing the top spot in the 400M hurdles and the 400M. Chloe Pennacchio was second in the 1 Mile, 2 Mile, and the shot put.

Attleboro, 0 @ Mansfield, 1 – FinalMansfield junior John Carney pitched a complete game shutout and scored the game’s lone run to help the Hornets open the season with a win. Carney allowed just two hits without issuing a walk, striking out six to get the win. In the second inning, Carney singled and moved to third on a double by Eric Longley (2-for-2). Carney then scored the lone run on a passed ball. Attleboro’s Eoin Kelleher only allowed two four hits in 5.2 innings of work, striking out four with one walk. Sam Larkin had a double (and a terrific catch in right field) and Mason Houle had a single for Attleboro.

Canton, 14 @ Foxboro, 12 – FinalIn a game dominated by offense, Canton prevailed with a 14-12 victory over Foxboro. The Bulldogs scored three runs in each the first, third, and fourth innings, and then tacked on five runs in the top of the fifth to take a 14-5 lead. Foxboro scored two runs in the first, three runs in the third, and rallied for seven runs in the fifth to make it a two-run game. Canton sophomore Steven Burbank went 4-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored while sophomore Matt Connolly had three hits, three RBI, and three runs scored. Junior Nate Quan added two hits and four RBI for the Bulldogs. Foxboro junior Kyle McGinnis went 3-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored, Michael Devlin was 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored, and Adam Lanctot added two hits, two RBI and a run scored for the Warriors. Phil Thomas pitched three scoreless innings in relief for Foxboro.

Franklin, 11 @ King Philip, 1 – FinalFranklin opened its season in style with an 11-1 win on the road against King Philip. Junior Brennan Rivera earned the win on the mound, scattering five hits with no walks over six innings of work. Rivera also struck out three without allowing an earned run. Jack Nally had two hits — a double and a triple — with two RBI and three runs scored while Scott Elliott added three hits, an RBI and a run scored. Alex Haba (RBI, run), Jake Macchi (two runs), Cooper Ross (two RBI), JB Floris (RBI), and Joe Lizotte (two runs) each had two hits apiece for Franklin.

Milford, 9 @ Sharon, 0 – Final Milford went on the road and picked up a shutout win in its first game of the 2019 season. Senior Danny Corsini tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out six to earn the win. Offensively, senior Matt Shaver went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, junior Nick Wimmete had three hits and a run scored, and senior Justin Applebee had two hits, two RBI, and two runs scored for the Scarlet Hawks.

North Attleboro, 3 @ Stoughton, 6 – FinalStoughton junior Jacob Kaplan connected on a two-out, bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a 3-3 tie, giving the Black Knights a win over the defending D2 State Champions in the season opener for both teams. Junior George Currier added two hits for the Black Knights. Stoughton senior Zak Paquette earned the win, tossing a complete game with four strikeouts, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits.

Softball
Mansfield, 6 @ Attleboro, 8 – Final Natalie Mansur gave Attleboro the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning with a pinch-hit, two-run homer. The Bombardiers had jumped out to a 5-2 lead only to have Mansfield respond with four runs in the fifth to take back the lead before Mansur’s big hit. Makenzie Killough continued her hot start to the season with a double and a home, while McKenzie Bergdoll had a pair of hits for the second straight game and drove in a pair. Jenna Gittle pitched the opening 4-2/3 inning and Emily Gittle grabbed the win with 2-1/3 innings of relief. Mady Bendanillo had three hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs for the Hornets in the loss. She plated Kara Bendanillo with a first-inning single, blasted a solo homer in the third and drove in a pair with a single in the fifth. Mary Muldoon also drove in two with a fifth inning single, as the Hornets scored four in the frame to regain the lead at 6-5. Mansfield coach Lori Letendre said, “It was a great back and forth game.”

Canton, 7 @ Foxboro, 6 – FinalCanton held off a late charge by the Warriors, who got a run in the bottom of the seventh and the tying run in scoring position before Caroline Hughes snared a line drive to end the game. Hughes threw a complete game with a pair of strikeouts, allowing three earned runs. Sarah Kelly went 2-for-4 with four RBI to power the Canton offense and Jackie Morrissey was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

King Philip, 0 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalFranklin edged out a pitcher’s duel against the defending league champions thanks to a dominant start from senior Jackie Cherry. She allowed no hits to the potent KP lineup and struck out 10 batters. Cherry allowed only four base-runners, three on walks and one batter reached on an error. Faith Turinese was almost as good for the Warriors, limiting the Panthers to just one earned run. Anna Balkus led-off the bottom of the first with a single, advanced to second on a sac bunt by Gabby Colace and to third on a single by Allie Shea (2-for-3 in the game). Maddy White drove in what turned out to be the game-winning run with an RBI-single. Franklin added a second run in the fifth. Colace doubled to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a groundout, before scoring on a wild pitch. Peyton Arone went 2-for-3 for Franklin and made a pair of great catches in left.

Sharon, 12 @ Milford, 7 – FinalSenior Rebecca Clayman went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and freshman Savannah Gray went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs as the Eagles beat the defending division champs and picked up their first win under head coach Heather Poliferno. Freshman Trinity Payne pitched in relief, getting out of a jam in the fourth by striking out two and going 3-2/3 innings with 5 Ks. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate and hit a fifth inning homer. Meg Hart had an RBI-triple and Taylor Waldrup had two hits for the Hawks.

Sharon, 4 @ Milford, 1 – FinalSharon swept doubles play and earned two more wins in singles action to defeat Milford. Danujan Thirumavalavan (first singles) won 6-2, 6-3 while Ruemon Bhattacharya (second singles) earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory. The team of Max Chen and Max Brody won 6-2, 6-2 at first doubles and the team of junior Jake Ross and freshman Deyan Kassev won 6-0, 6-2 at second doubles. Milford senior Riley Lynch won 6-4, 6-0 at third singles.

Attleboro, 3 @ Mansfield, 2 – FinalAttleboro senior Bri Aronne overcame a one-set deficit to win the next two and help the Bombardiers clinch a 3-2 win over Mansfield. Aronne won 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 while the first doubles team of Nicole Matheson and Lauren Anthony won 6-0, 6-4 and the duo of junior Rena Danho and junior Jordan Benardo earned a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win at second doubles. Mansfield’s Lizzy Elsner won 6-1, 7-5 at first singles and sophomore Aryann Khosravani picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at third singles.

Pam Nelson won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, Sarah Prag earned a 6-1, 6-1 decision at second singles, and Julia Muise won 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. Foxboro’s first doubles team of Kendall Milender and Paige Krockta won 6-1, 6-1, and the Warriors’ second doubles team of Maggie McAuliffe and Lindsey Young won 6-1, 6-2.

Senior Nupur Shukla (first), freshman Valeria Barajas (second), and sophomore Charlize Martinez swept singles play for the Eagles. The first doubles team of Sachi Bhasin and Sophia Fein won 6-3, 6-4 while the duo of Lauren Glass and Makaila Cheung won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles for the Eagles.

King Philip, 3 @ Millis, 1 – FinalKing Philip picked up its second win of the season, earning a 3-1 (25-20, 26-24, 22-25, 25-9) win on the road at Millis. The Warriors rode the strong serving of Max Armour (11 service points) and Kyle Desrochers (16 service points), both of whom went on big runs at the service line. Desrochers added 10 digs and Alex Bernhard had a strong game with seven digs. Senior middle Jimmy Peterson paced the net defense with seven blocks.
