Boys Basketball
Milford, 38 @ Attleboro, 61 – FinalAttleboro orchestrated a 14-0 run between the first and second quarters and never looked back to grab a big win over visiting Milford. Tied 9-9 early on, the Bombardiers staked a 16-9 claim by the end of the first and then outscored the Scarlet Hawks by nine in the second to build a 35-19 halftime lead. Senior Alvin Harrison scored a career-high 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the way for the Bombardiers. Senior Joe Francois-Annevil added 11 points, 10 rebounds and four assists and senior Evan Houle chipped in with 11 points and five assists. Sophomore Jake Soares scored a team-high 11 points while freshman Andrew Rivera added eight points and four rebounds.

Mansfield, 51 @ Bishop Feehan, 41 – FinalMansfield senior Andrew Slaney hit three three-pointers in the fourth quarter and scored all 13 of his points in the final frame as the Hornets pulled away from the upset-minded Shamrocks. After a close first quarter (14-11), the Hornets limited the hosts to just two points in the second to stake a 27-13 lead by halftime. Feehan responded with a big quarter of its own, holding Mansfield to five points in the frame to make it a one-point game, 32-31, going into the fourth. Slaney hit back-to-back threes, Chris Hill (10 points) converted a putback, and Matt Hyland (16 points) hit two from the line to complete a 10-0 run over the first three minutes of the fourth. Feehan cut it to seven with three minutes left but Slaney sank another three to keep the Hornets ahead for good.

Boys Swimming
Franklin, 79 @ Attleboro, 86 – FinalFranklin had more first place finishes but Attleboro’s depth helped earn key points for a win over the Panthers. Matt Marcil was a double-winner in individual races while also adding a relay win to help Attleboro get the win. Marcil took first in both the 100 back (qualifying for sectionals) and anchored a sweep in the 100 fee (followed by Matt Brewster and Andrew Collins). Marcil was joined by Collins, Brewster, and Zach Dorrance to win the 200 free relay. Alex Harrop added a first place finish in the 100 fly.

Girls Swimming
Franklin, 95 @ Attleboro, 64 – FinalAttleboro freshman Zuri Ferguson broke a 30-year old program record, setting a new time of 5:16.44 in the 500 free, breaking the record by 2.28 seconds but the Bombardiers fell to a deep Franklin team. Ferguson also won the 50 free, qualifying for sectional in both events. Ella Lynch-Bartek took second in the 50 free and third in the 100 free, Caroline Lynch-Bartek placed third in the 50 free, and Sydney Dorval was third in the 100 fly. Ferguson, Lynch-Bartek, Lynch-Bartek, and Dorval teamed up to take second in both the 200 medley and 200 free relays. Abbi Rodriques and Natalia Kotnisz also won key points for the Bombardiers.

King Philip, 2 @ Franklin, 3 – FinalAfter trading goals in the first two periods, Franklin scored with just under three minutes to play to give the Panthers a league win over King Philip. Franklin jumped ahead in the first period but KP knotted the score before the buzzer. The Warriors took their first lead but this time it was Franklin who leveled the game just moments later in the second period. Molly Hurley, Lynsey Dennett, and Haley Wernig scored for Franklin while Dennett, Hurley and Dana Stott each had an assist. Izzy Brown had a standout performance in net for Franklin.

Boys Swimming
Attleboro, 106 @ Seekonk, 67 – Final Attleboro won eight of the 12 events, including four wins from Matt Marcil, Ryan Connors, and Ben Connors, in a big win over Seekonk. Marcil touched first in both the 100 free and 100 back, Ryan Connors won the 100 fly and 200 IM, and Ben Connors was the winner in the 100 breast and 200 free (followed by Andrew Greaves). Those three were joined by Zach Dorrance to win both the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay. Matt Brewster and Ayden Moore took second and third, respectively, in a photo finish in the 50 free.

Attleboro, 76 @ Seekonk, 99 – FinalZuri Ferguson was a double winner for Attleboro but the Bombardiers fell in a non-league matchup with Seekonk. Ferguson won both the 200 free and 100 back, Ella Lynch Bartek took first in the 100 free and finished second in the 50 free, Sydney Dorval added a pair of second place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 fly, Caroline Lynch Bartek was second in the 500 free, and Abbi Rodriques took second in the 100 breast.

Friday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 02/05/21

Today’s games are listed below.

Boys Basketball
Milford, 34 @ Mansfield, 62 – FinalMansfield used a strong second half on both ends of the floor to pull away from the Hawks. The Hornets led by double digits in the first half before the Hawks closed the gap, going into half down 29-22. Mansfield’s defense clamped down, allowing just four points in the third quarter to take a 43-28 lead. Senior Jack Colby scored 13 of his career-high 17 points in the first half to lead the way for the Hornets. Matt Boen added 15 points and Chris Hill chipped in with 10 points for Mansfield.

Girls Basketball
Mansfield, 64 @ Milford, 33 – FinalThe Hornets picked up a second win in as many days. Abby Wager had a career-high 20 points for Mansfield, while Ashley Santos added 11 and Sarah Dooling had 10. Brooke Ferreira was Milford’s top scorer with eight points.

North Attleboro, 58 @ Sharon, 26 – FinalNorth Attleboro used a big third quarter to pull away and secure a second win in as many days against the Eagles. Leading 25-13 at halftime, the Rocketeers scored 23 points in the third quarter to break the game open. For the second straight day, four North player finished in double digits. Amanda Kaiser was the top scorer with 15, Taylor McMath had 12, Siobhan Weir had 11, and Cailyn Maxcy had 10 in the win.

Boys Hockey
Franklin, 3 @ Attleboro, 1 – FinalJunior Christian Shabbick scored his first career goal and added an assist to help the Panthers sweep the season series against Attleboro. Shabbick set up Ben Jarosz for a first period goal and Justin Magazu (from Pat Dolan) added a second as Franklin claimed a 2-1 lead after a period. Shabbick extended the visitors’ lead with a goal assisted by Justin Abely in the second period. Attleboro goalie Nick Piazza made 35 saves in net.

Girls Hockey
Canton, 7 vs. Boston Latin, 1 – Final – Canton scored seven goals against Boston Latin for the second straight game. Lizzie Tassinari and Maria Femia each scored twice for the Bulldogs.

Boys Swimming
Attleboro, 99 @ Taunton, 67 – FinalAttleboro earned a win over the Tigers in a virtual meet, swimming three days apart. The team of Matt Marcil, Ben Connors, Ryan Connors, and Colton Mangion won the 20 medley relay for the Bombardiers while Zach Dorrance, Brady Dumont, Dylan Nisbet, and Alex Harrop won the 400 free relay. Marcil (50 free), Ryan Connors (100 free, 100 back), and Ben Connors (500 free, 100 breast) all had individual wins for Attleboro.

Attleboro, 87 @ Taunton, 73 – FinalNatalia Kotnisz, Sydney Dorval, Brenna O’Connell, and Ella Lynch-Bartek each won individual races and the Bombardiers’ 400 free relay touched first in a win over Taunton. The team of Kelly Neuendorf, Corinne Blaisdell, and Eleanor Graber won the 400 free relay for Attleboro. Kotnisz won the 200 free, Dorval was first int he 200 IM and second in the 100 fly, O’Connell finished first 50 free, and Lynch-Bartek was first in the 100 back and second in the 100 free.

Wednesday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 01/27/21

Today’s games are listed below.

Boys Basketball
Attleboro, 52 @ Canton, 48 – FinalFor the second time in three days, Attleboro and Canton went back-and-forth with not much separating the sides, and once again, the Bombardiers emerged with a close win. Attleboro held slim leads at the end of the first quarter (14-12) and the third quarter (36-35), the teams were tied at 24-24 at halftime. Junior Evan Houle sank a pair of free throws in the final seconds to help secure the win while senior Justin Daniels scored five of his seven points in the fourth, including the Bombardiers’ first three since the first quarter. Sophomore Trevor White had a breakout game for the visitors, scoring a career-high 21 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Canton senior Ryan Connerney paced rhe Bulldogs with a career-best 18 points while Steven Burbank added nine points.

Dorval took first in the 200 IM and 100 fly and was joined by Ella Lynch-Bartek (first in 100 free), Brenna O’Connell (first in 50 free) and Natalia Kotnisz to win the 200 free relay.

Attleboro, 115 @ King Philip, 51 – FinalAttleboro’s Matt Marcil, Ryan Connors, and Ben Connors each won a pair of individual races and were apart of two relay wins to help the Bombardiers score a win over King Philip. Marcil won the 100 back and 100 free, Ryan Connors touched first in the butterfly and the 200 IM, and Ben Connors won the 50 free and the 100 breast. Those three swimmers were joined by Colton Mangion to win both the 200 free and 200 medley relays.

Thursday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 12/20/18

Today’s games are listed below.

Boys Basketball
Taunton, 76 vs. Coyle & Cassidy, 53 – FinalThe Tigers raced out to a 23-9 lead after the first quarter, extended it to 35-20 by halftime, and never looked back to pick up their third win of the season. Junior Dante Law scored a career-high 28 points, including 15 points in the first half. Senior Michael Quinn scored a career-high 16 points and John Martins finished with 12 points for Taunton.

Girls Basketball
Taunton, 49 vs. Coyle & Cassidy, 60 – FinalTaunton led 27-22 at the half but Coyle responded after the break to avoid the upset against its city rivals. Sonya Fernandez had a strong game for the Tigers with 20 points and 16 rebounds, while Alexa White had 12 points and Lily Patneaude had nine.

Boys Swimming
North Attleboro, 69 @ Attleboro, 89 – FinalAttleboro 200 medley relay team of Colton Parkinson, Connor Dunn, Alex Harrop, and Matt Marcil took first, and each member won at least one individual event as the Bombardiers earned a win over North Attleboro. Parkinson also won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, Dunn touched first in the 50 free and 100 free, Harrop won the 100 fly, and Matt Marcil took first in the 100 backstroke. Parkinson, Dunn, and Marcil teamed with Brett Wortham to win the 200 free.

North Attleboro, 66 @ Attleboro, 98 – FinalLiz Saltz, Tiffany Chan, Jackie Lynch-Bartek, and Ella Lynch-Bartek teamed up to win both the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay on top of individual wins to pace the Bombardiers to a win. Saltz also won the 50 free and the 100 fly, Chin took first in the 500 free and 100 back, Jackie Lynch-Bartek touched first in the 200 free and 100 breaststroke, and Ella Lynch-Bartek was first in the 100 free.

Gymnastics
Oliver Ames, 132.9 @ Attleboro, 130.55 – FinalFor the second straight meet, Oliver Ames junior Lauren Picanzi took first in the All Around, this time scoring a 34.3. Picanzi scored an 8.65 on the beam and an 8.7 floor. Sophomore Ashlyn Latham was second in the overall, highlighted by an 8.6 on the floor. OA senior Gianna Martucci added an 8.8 on the floor and an 8.6 on the beam for the Tigers.
