During this National Letter of Intent early signing period, there have been several Hockomock student-athletes that have officially signed to play their respective sports in college at the Division I and II level.
Last week, HockomockSports.com featured five athletes from Franklin and Milford that have made their college choices official and on Friday three other Hockomock all-star athletes followed suit.
(Reminder, this signing period is for specific sports, such as lacrosse, field hockey, baseball and basketball. Soccer and football players are not allowed to sign until later dates.)
North Attleboro baseball player Dylan Grzenda, who was named to the bench on the HockomockSports.com 2014 Baseball Awards last spring, officially signed with the University of New Haven. Stoughton runner David Lockhart, who has been a winter track, spring track, and most recently a cross-country league all-star, signed with Stonehill College. Also, Oliver Ames field hockey player Molly Cunha finalized her commitment to play Long Island University Post.

Cuhna was named a Hockomock League all-star in both 2013 and this past fall and helped lead the Tigers to a Davenport title with a 13-0-3 regular season record. Cuhna and the Tigers would reach the South sectional final before being eliminated by Dennis-Yarmouth.
She finished the season with seven goals and three assists.
Grzenda, the starting shortstop for the Rocketeers, was happy to be done with the recruiting process even though he described it as “enjoyable.” He is grateful to be able to turn his focus to his senior season and the captains’ practices and workouts that lead up to spring.
“It was really enjoyable and not stressful at all,” he explained. “The coaches understood that I’m just a kid and it wasn’t like I was choosing something that I would be doing for the rest of my life.”
Grzenda continued, “Watching their baseball program develop; it’s been strong and just the atmosphere of both the school and the baseball program was something that contributed. It’s a small-ball program, which suits my game and the coach is really down to Earth.”

Lockhart recently competed in the cross-country state championships at Franklin Park and he is happy to be done with the stressful process of being recruited.
“It feels great to be done with the process, definitely,” he said. “It’s a huge relief. I have no doubt in my mind that Stonehill is the best option for me. I’m very excited to be a Skyhawk!”
Despite his father having attended, Lockhart admitted that he had initially discounted Stonehill, but it was a visit from Skyhawks coach Karen Boen that put the school back on his radar.
“She takes the program very seriously, and has seen quite a bit of success in her career at Stonehill – it’s something I want to be a part of!” said Lockhart. “I felt at home on campus, I loved the team, and on top of all that the school offers very strong academics.”
