Canton senior Nora Giannacopoulos has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for April 6 through April 12. Giannacopoulos is the 29th athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year and the second in the spring season.
The league’s top returning scorer from last season has gotten off to a terrific start this spring, helping the Bulldogs get off to a perfect 5-0 start, including 4-0 in the league, and take an early lead in the Davenport division standings. Giannacopoulos, a Bentley-commit, has already scored 21 goals and dished out five assists in five game this season (including 15 goals in the three games over the last week).
“Nora’s contributions on both ends of the field have been instrumental to our success these first few weeks,” said Canton coach Jess Powers. “Her goal scoring ability is just as dynamic as last year but this season she’s also done a great job sitting back at times, drawing defenders, and creating opportunities for her teammates. Her impact is just huge.”
After scoring six goals and recording a pair of helpers in Canton’s opening two wins, Giannacopoulos caught fire last week. On Monday, she scored six goals in an important division win at OA, as the Bulldogs jumped out to an 8-4 lead by halftime and held off the Tigers in the second half. Two days later, she had a hat trick and a pair of assists in a 16-3 win over Taunton. The following day, she spearheaded a come-from-behind win at Norwood. Canton trailed by one at the break but outscored the Mustangs 10-1 in the third quarter for what ended up being a comfortable win. Giannacopoulos scored six goals and set up another to lead the Canton attack.
