Attleboro has named Matt Rodrigues as the new head coach of its girls soccer program, the school announced in a press release.
A two-time Hockomock League All Star and two-time HockomockSports.com Best XI selection during his playing career with the Bombardiers, Rodrigues went on to play collegiately at UMass Dartmouth.
“I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to lead the AHS girls soccer program, and I’m ready to bring my commitment and energy toward our mission every day,” Rodrigues said in the release. “I look forward to getting to work with all our players and staff as we build something truly special together.”
Rodrigues has been part of Attleboro’s soccer programs as a coach since 2019, serving as an assistant with the boys program and most recently as the girls JV coach. He is also a special education teacher at Attleboro High.
“Coach Matt Rodrigues has worked as our sub-varsity coach for the past seven years and is committed to our program,” Attleboro athletic director Mark Houle said. “I believe he has the passion and vision needed to positively impact our student-athletes. I look forward to supporting him in reaching his program goals.”
Rodrigues takes over for Steve Santos, who stepped down in July after spending 15 years at the helm of the Bombardiers.
