King Philip will have a familiar face leading its girls basketball program this winter.

Brett Coderre, who spent the past five seasons as the Warriors’ JV coach and as a varsity assistant, was hired as KP’s new head coach in early June.

Coderre takes over for Jeff Miszkiewicz, who stepped away following last season after five seasons at the helm to spend more time with his family. Miszkiewicz won 63 games during his time leading the Warriors.

“When Jeff decided to step down, I realized I wasn’t ready to walk away,” Coderre told HockomockSports. “I have grown attached to this program and genuinely love being part of the King Philip community. Coaching here has allowed me to build meaningful relationships with our players, their families, and my fellow coaches. My coaching staff is made up largely of King Philip alumni who I have become close friends with over the past few years, and I am incredibly proud of the culture we have built together.

“I am proud to be a part of this program, and I am honored and grateful to King Philip High School for the opportunity to lead it. I look forward to continuing to build on the foundation that has been established while helping our girls grow as players, teammates, and young women.”

Coderre has coached high school basketball since 2016, spending five seasons as an assistant girls basketball coach at Cumberland before joining KP in 2021. At both stops, he served as the junior varsity head coach and a varsity assistant.

A 2015 Rhode Island College graduate, Coderre has been a social studies teacher at Woonsocket High since 2016. He also started coaching high school football in 2016, spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Woonsocket, and became the school’s head coach in 2025.

King Philip is coming off a 14-7 season in 2025-26, finishing second in the Kelley-Rex and leading the Hockomock League in scoring at 59.5 points per game.
