Taunton junior Bella Bourque has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for June 7 through June 13. Bourque is the 28th athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year and the 11th and final athlete in the spring season.
Bourque, who was recently named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year, capped off another terrific season (her fourth on varsity) with a big performance in Saturday’s Div. 1 state title game victory over Attleboro at Worcester State’s Rockwood Field. Bourque tied a record with three runs scored in the final (also matched by teammate Victoria Corrao) and drove in three runs as the Tigers won their sixth consecutive championship.
“Bella Bourque’s ability to deliver in big moments played a major role in our success this season,” said head coach Michelle Raposo. “She came through with clutch hits, made key defensive plays, and was always there to support her teammates. After posting career highs with 51 hits, 40 RBIs, and 50 runs scored, it was no surprise that when her team needed a hit, she stepped up and crushed a home run in the final game.”
Bourque was one of the league’s leading hitters all season and that continued through Taunton’s playoff run. She opened the postseason by going 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in a blowout of Newton South. In the Sweet Sixteen against Braintree, Bourque was 1-for-3 with a run scored, a stolen base, and a walk. She was also 1-for-3 with a run, an RBI, and a walk against Newton North in the quarterfinal.
In the Final Four against Shrewsbury at UMass Dartmouth, Bourque went 2-for-4 and scored three runs. Her deep drive to left in the sixth forced the left fielder into a tough play that she couldn’t handle and brought in a pair of key insurance runs. Against Attleboro in the final, Bourque went 2-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. She drove in a run in the first with a single and, in the second inning, gave Taunton its first lead with a two-run homer off the flagpole in straightaway center. Bourque reached on an error in the sixth and scored Taunton’s 11th run. She also had an assist on the final out, fielding a grounder at short and flipping to Corrao at second for the force.
