The Canton 4×400 Relay team of Adileh Azar, Grace Martinek, Chloe Dubuisson, and Lauren Raffetto has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for May 17 through May 23. The relay team is the 25th selection as Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year and the eighth in the spring season.
The relay team capped off a terrific day for the Canton girls track team, which won its first ever title at the Hockomock League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held on Saturday at North Attleboro High. The Bulldogs, who also won their first regular season league title in 43 years this spring, scored 103 points as a team, beating King Philip by nearly 24 points, and the 4×400 relay put the finishing touch on the historic performance by setting a new meet record in the final event of the day.
“The Canton Girls 4×400 relay team of Addy Azar, Grace Martinek, Chloe Dubuisson, and Lauren Raffetto have been a major part of our team’s success this season,” said Canton head coach Anna Amico. “All four athletes have contributed significantly to our 5-0 regular season record, our first regular season league title in 43 years, and the program’s first-ever Hockomock League Championship Meet title.
“What makes this group so special is not only their talent, but also the way they approach everything they do. Addy, Grace, Chloe, and Lauren are selfless, hardworking, coachable, and compete with heart and grit every time they step on the track. Together, they consistently put the team first and bring out the best in one another.”
In the final event of the day, Canton set a new meet record with a time of 3:56.55, which was nearly 10 seconds better than the second place team from Franklin. Azar kicked it off with a 59.21 first leg followed by Martinek’s 1:01.52. Dubuisson had the fastest leg of any runner with a time of 57.80 and Raffetto closed it out with a 58.02 leg. Canton broke the former record of 3:57.72, set by Mansfield’s Katie Jenkins, Emily Broyles, Erika Unger, and Michelle Jenssen in 2009.
Dubuisson won league titles in the 100M hurdles and 400M hurdles and Raffetto won the 1 Mile and 2 Mile, giving each runner three titles on the day. Raffetto, who is currently ranked No. 2 in Massachusetts in the 1 Mile (4:50.34) and No. 5 in the 800M (2:13.05), holds school records in the 800M, 1 Mile, 2 Mile, 4×400 relay, and sprint medley relay. Azar also won the 800M and took third in the 2 Mile, while Martinek took sixth in the 400M and sacrificed an additional individual event opportunity to strengthen the 4×100 relay, helping Canton take sixth and score important points for the team. Dubuisson is currently ranked No. 4 in Massachusetts in both hurdle events and is the outdoor school record holder in the 400M hurdles, 200M, 4×400 relay, sprint medley relay, and both the individual and team pentathlon/heptathlon.
