Foxboro sophomore Paige Curran has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for May 30 through June 5. Curran is the 25th player chosen as Player of the Week for the 2020-21 school year and fifth in the spring season. She is also the second straight athlete chosen from Foxboro.
Curran, the league’s leading scorer, had another big week to help the Warriors extend their win streak to nine games and secure the outright Davenport division title for the ninth straight year. With 15 points (nine goals and six assists) last week, Curran improved her totals for the season to 40 goals and 28 assists. She leads the league in points (68) and is second in both goals and assists.
Taking on division rival North Attleboro, the Warriors convincingly won both games by a combined 37-12 score line and clinched the league title. On Tuesday, Curran helped Foxboro pull away from North in the second half. She played a role in half of Foxboro’s goals, scoring five times and dishing out four assists. In the next day’s rematch, Curran was back at it with six points (four goals and two assists), as Foxboro rolled to a big win.
The Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, is selected by the HockomockSports.com staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at midnight. There may be a poll posted on every Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
