Canton senior Soley Rodriguez Martinez has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Sept. 14 through Sept. 20. Rodriguez Martinez is the second athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2026-27 school year.
Rodriguez Martinez made history this week, becoming the first Canton player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career digs, achieving the feat during Canton’s 3-0 win over Taunton on Monday. The senior libero also announced her commitment to play college volleyball at Bryant University. She helped Canton go 2-1 on the week, improving to 3-2 on the season.
“This past week was a great week for Soley with 56 digs and 9 aces in three matches,” said Canton head coach Pat Cawley. “Soley recorded her 1000th dig on Monday against Taunton, becoming the first player in Canton’s history to do so. Soley’s talent and leadership on the court give us the ability to compete in every match. She is the heart of our team, the calm in our storm, and the glue keeping us together!”
In Monday’s win against Taunton, Rodriguez Martinez recorded 16 digs and added two kills. She followed that up two days later with 11 more digs and a pair of aces in another sweep against Mansfield. On Friday, Rodriguez Martinez put together another terrific performance with 29 digs and four aces in a five-set loss at defending Kelley-Rex division champs Attleboro.
