Volleyball
Attleboro, 3 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalAttleboro scored nine of the final 11 points in the first set, overcoming an early deficit to grab a 1-0 lead and went on to take a 3-1 win on the road (25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 26-24). Freshman Julia Leonardo paced the Bombardiers with 17 kills, Natalie Brojek added eight aces and 20 assists, and Kate Petrosso clinched the win with a big block for the final point.

Oliver Ames, 162 @ North Attleboro, 168 – FinalA pair of sophomores tied for a team-low score for OA while a senior and a junior rounded out the scoring as the Tigers took a win at Heather Hill. Sophomore Sean Kearns and David Rodgers each shot 39 while senior Jo Jo Gaultier and junior Daniel Paul each carded a 42. North Attleboro’s Jake Gaskin had a pair of birdies to finishes with a match medalist round of 37 (two over par).

Mansfield, 274 @ Milford, 278 – Final (6 cards)Mansfield went to extra cards for the second time in the early season and once again came out victorious. After beating North on five cards last week, it took six cards for the Hornets to sink the Hawks. Seniors Cian Goulet and Ryan Doherty led the way by each shooting a 42, senior Hunter Tang added a round of 45, sophomore Cody Nieratko fired a 47 and both freshman Brendan Vokey and sophomore Nathan McClean each shot 49. For Milford, Jacob Hipolito shared medalist honors with a round of 42 while Nate Lawrence and Anthony LaPierre each shot a 43.

Foxboro, 167 @ Canton, 141 – FinalCanton’s depth was on display as the Bulldogs had all of its scorers shoot under 40 for the day. Conor Hunter was the match medalist with a low-round of 34, Charlie Cohen added a round of 35, and Mekhala Costello, Aiden French, and Mike Leonotti each finished at 36. Jack Rounds had a strong showing for the Warriors with a round of 35.

Both Manning and Haggerty finished with 13 saves apiece in the tie. KP senior Alli Beltramini hand a standout game defensively while the Warriors also had strong showings from Morgan Cunningham, Lauren Barreiro, Kayla O’Brien, and Kelly Holmes. Abby Nixon, Grace Crocker, and Isabelle Crocker created several scoring chances for the Warriors but couldn’t solve Haggerty.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Foxboro, 5 – Final

Mansfield, 0 @ Franklin, 7 – FinalFranklin poured in five goals in the first half and never looked back in a win over visiting Mansfield. Both Amanda Lewandowski and Kaitlyn Carney scored a hat trick in the Panthers’ win, each scoring twice in the first half and adding third quarter goals as well. Stephanie Bell (from Sara Carney) scored late in the second quarter to give Franklin a 5-0 advantage at the break. Neilee Hess made seven saves in net for the shutout.

Sharon, 0 @ Stoughton, 3 – FinalStoughton earned its first shutout win of the season, blanking Sharon in a victory at home. Zofia Bangs scored a pair of goals to the pace the Black Knights’ offense while Morgan Lessa scored once.

Canton, 154 @ Oliver Ames, 157 – FinalCanton went on the road and earned a close win over Oliver Ames at Pine Oaks, securing its fourth straight outright Davenport division title. Will Gefteas and Owen Donovan led the way for the Bulldogs, each shooting a team-low round of 38 while Conor Hunter and Nate MacDonald chipped in with a pair of 39s in the win. OA senior Logan Domenico was the match medalist, shooting a low-round of 37 for the Tigers. Kosta Spiliakos and David Rogers each chipped in with a 39 for OA while Jo Jo Gaultier, Jake Kaplan, and Will Gianni each finish with a 42.

North Attleboro, 173 @ Foxboro, 163 – FinalJunior Jack Watts was the lone golfer to shoot under 40, earning match medalist honors and leading Foxboro to a win at home. Watts carded a match-low round of 39, Dylan Quinn added a 40, and both Jack Rounds and Luke Davies finished with a 42 for Foxboro. Tyler DeMattio paced the Rocketeers with a 40, Aidan Weir shot a 43, Sam Gallagher added a 44, and Dillon Harding came in with a 47 for North Attleboro.

Stoughton, 181 @ Sharon, 176 – FinalSharon earned a close win at home at the Cape Club of Sharon over visiting Stoughton. Nathan Daley earned match medalist honors with a low-round of 40 to pace the Eagles while Eric Carter added a 44 and Owen Kevorkian chipped in with a 45. Max Huminik led Stoughton with a 43 and Anthony Hern finished with a 44 for the Black Knights.

Canton, 1 @ North Attleboro, 0 – FinalCanton scored two minutes into the third quarter and that was enough for the Bulldogs in a win on the road. Sophomore Jake McCabe converted a feed from junior Jacob Crugnale for the lone tally of the match. David Floyd had a solid outing in net for the Rocketeers with eight saves.

Stoughton, 1 @ Foxboro, 2 – FinalClick here for a photo gallery of this gameFoxboro sandwiched a pair of third quarter goals around a tally from Stoughton to earn two points and a season sweep of the Black Knights. After a scoreless first half, Foxboro’s Max Beigel opened the scoring in the 44th minute, tucking his show low to the left into the back corner for a 1-0 advantage. Rhuan Carvalho helped bring the Black Knights level, sending a perfectly paced through ball to Joao Marotti, who was fouled in the box for a pen. Carvalho blasted a left-footed shot that Foxboro keeper Nick Penders got his fingertips to but the ball kissed off the post and in to bring Stoughton level at 1-1. The deadlock lasted less than 10 minutes as Matt Angelini raced onto a loose ball behind the defense and hit a left-footed shot on the run just inside of the far post. Stoughton keeper Nolan Gerome had a strong outing with eight saves.

Taunton, 1 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalFranklin scored a pair of first quarter goals a minute apart and held on the rest of the way to earn two points at home over visiting Taunton. Ben Moccia opened the scoring for the Panthers, finishing off a feed from Charlie Amante for a 1-0 advantage. Just a minute later, Ryan Witt set up Ethan Cain, who scored for the third straight game, for a 2-0 lead. Taunton sophomore Riley Rebello cut the deficit in half with an unassisted goal in the second quarter.

Milford, 2 @ King Philip, 2 – FinalKing Philip battled back from a 2-0 deficit, scoring right before the halftime whistle and then just seconds before the final whistle to grab a point over visiting Milford. Junior Avi Seri put the Hawks ahead in the eighth minute on an assist from Leo Coelho, who scored in the 31st minute on an assist from Arthur Tome to make it 2-0. King Philip cut the lead in half with less than a minute to go in the first half when junior Stephen Griffin converted a free kick. And then with just 12 seconds left, Conor O’Neill buried a service from Evan McCoy to bring the Warriors level at the death.

Sharon, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 8 – FinalOliver Ames exploded for six second half goals to earn a big win at home over visiting Sharon. The Tigers built a 2-0 lead at halftime on goals from Mathias Taylor (from Ben Cohen) and Anthony DaCosta (from Colin Milliken). Senior Brady deVos added a second half brace for the Tigers while Milliken, Kevin Louhis, Dillon Cupples, and Jared Goldman also scored. Senior Ryan Ventura and freshman Joey Carney added assists.










Girls Soccer
Mansfield, 2 @ Attleboro, 0 – FinalCathryn Cooney scored twice in the second quarter to lift Mansfield to a win on the road. Olivia Salisbury and Kelsey Hubler combined to keep a clean sheet for the Hornets.

Foxboro, 9 @ Stoughton, 0 – FinalAlyssa Vandenboom scored three times and Jordyn Collins and Erin Foley each scored twice, as Foxboro’s offense clicked into gear with a big road win. Kailee McCabe recorded five points on the day, finishing with one goal and four assists, and Katelyn Mollica added three, scoring one and assisting on two. Meghan Burke, Jordan Carman, and Collins all had one assist in the win. Stoughton coach Hermes Lima credited the leadership of seniors Mackenzie Manning, Nikki Anderson, and Rebecca DeSousa for keeping the Black Knights going. He said the team had several good attacks for forward Shayla Ford but just couldn’t find the finish.

Taunton, 0 @ Franklin, 5 – FinalClare Bowen’s hat trick keeps the Panthers rolling along, having won all six of their games so far this season and extending their lead to six points in division standings (second-place KP plays on Thursday). Jamie Tanner and Riley Fitzpatrick also scored for Franklin. Izzy Arnold had a pair of assists, while Norah Anderson, Erin Quaile, and Tanner each had one helper apiece.

Oliver Ames, 4 @ Sharon, 1 – FinalSharon’s goal came on a first half penalty kick by Sofia Goclowski that put the Eagles ahead 1-0 but the Tigers scored four straight to get the win on the road. Katie Gibson (assist), Camryn O’Connor (two assists), Emma Pereira, and Carly Gibson scored for OA. Lucinda Cotter notched an assist for the Tigers.

Canton, 147 @ North Attleboro, 156 – FinalAnother day, another new golfer steps up to lead the Bulldogs as Conor Hunter fired a match-medalist even par round of 35 as Canton notched a win on the road at Heather Hill Country Club over North Attleboro. Will Gefteas and Owen Donovan each chipped in with a 37 while Aiden French carded a 38 for Canton. Sophomore Jake Gaskin led the Rocketeers with a team-low round of 37, Sam Gallagher added a 38, Jordan Paradis shot a 40, and Tyler DeMattio finished with a 41.

Taunton, 194 @ Franklin, 149 – FinalFranklin earned its eighth straight win to start the season behind an impressive two-under par round of 33 from senior Jack Paterson. Sean Connelly added a 38 in the win while both Nolan Norton and Pat Dolan carded rounds of 39. Spencer Andrews was Taunton’s top performer, coming in with a team-low round of 44.

King Philip, 158 @ Milford, 173 – Final – King Philip went on the road and earned a win over Milford at the Hopedale Country Club. Jared Curran was the match medalist, shooting a team-low round of 36 to pace the Warriors. Mike Matheson added a 37 and Gavin Croke chipped in with a 42 for KP.

Attleboro, 7 @ Milford, 0 – FinalAttleboro earned its second win of the season and a sweep of Milford with another shutout win. The Bombardiers had 11 players find the score sheet with Amanda Burns and Shae Salisbury leading the way with two goals apiece. Sarah McMahon and Campbell Compton each recored a pair of assists while Laura McVeigh, Madison Ellis, and Kaelin Coleman all found the back of the net once for Attleboro.

Sharon, 0 @ Canton, 7 – Final

Oliver Ames, 1 @ Foxboro, 1 – FinalOliver Ames and Foxboro split the points on Thursday afternoon, settling for a 1-1 draw at Sam Berns Field. Oliver Ames’ Sofia Anestam scored in the second quarter off of an assist from Georgia Costello. OA goalie Peyton Phillips made nine saves to help the Tigers earn a point on the road.

King Philip, 0 @ Franklin, 2 – FinalFranklin scored twice inside a four-minute space in the opening quarter and held off King Philip the rest of the way to get a key win. Amanda Lewandowski scored both for the Panthers, opening the scoring at 7:07 on an assist from Stephanie Bell and then doubling the lead just over three minutes later. Neilee Hess made five saves in the win for the Panthers. Head coach Michelle Hess praised the defensive play of Kendall Jones and Kate O’Rourke, and added that Sara Carney had a stellar outing in the midfield. KP senior goalie Makenzie Manning kept the Warriors in it with 18 saves and head coach Lisa Cropper said both senior Ali Beltramini and freshman Kelly Holmes played well.

North Attleboro, 2 @ Stoughton, 3 – FinalStoughton nearly stole a point with a late fourth quarter surge earlier in the week in its trip to North Attleboro. This time around, the Black Knights completed the comeback. Trailing 2-1 late in the fourth quarter, Haley Nelson scored her second goal of the game to knot the score at 2-2 with 2:30 to go. Just 30 seconds later, Zofia Bangs deposited the go-ahead goal to give Stoughton a win at home. Lena Allie had 10 saves in net for Stoughton while head coach Dan Mark lauded the excellent defensive performances from Cate Downey and Julia Driscoll.

Taunton, 1 @ Mansfield, 1 – FinalClick here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Taunton scored a fourth quarter goal to pull out a second straight draw against the Hornets. Mansfield jumped into the lead in the second quarter with freshman Lola Varricchione knocking in a loose ball in the crease. Alexandra Burnham picked up the assist. Taunton goalie Emily Gannon made a number of saves and defender Jocelyn Pagliuca stopped several Mansfield breakaways to keep it a one-goal game. In the fourth quarter, Alana Tavares slipped a pass through to Ashley Amaro and the junior forward got a touch past the last defender and raced half the field before scoring the tying goal.

Sharon, 168 @ Canton, 154 – FinalThe Bulldogs had five golfers shoot 40 or better on Thursday afternoon at Blue Hill Country Club leading to a win over Sharon. Owen Donovan and Will Gefteas were the match co-medalists, each carding a round of 37. Mike Leonetti, Conor Hunter, Nate MacDonald, and Aiden French each shot a 40 in the win. For Sharon, Nathan Daley had a team-low round of 39, Eric Carter added a 41, and both Rosie Leonard and Noah Glassman carded a round of 44.

Oliver Ames, 175 @ Foxboro, 164 – FinalFoxboro earned a key division win at home at Foxboro Country Club against Oliver Ames. For OA, senior Logan Domenico had a team-low round of 42, senior Sam Kagan added a 43, and both freshman David Rogers and junior Jake Kaplan came into the clubhouse with a round of 45.

Franklin, 158 @ King Philip, 166 – FinalFranklin picked up its sixth straight win to open the season, earning its second straight close win over division foe King Philip. Jack Paterson and Brian Sandham led the way for the Panthers at Wentworth Hill Country Club, both shooting a team-low round of 38. Pat Dolan and Nolan Norton each added a 41 in the win. Mike Matheson was the match medalist, leading KP with a low-round of 37 while Jared Curran chipped in with a 40 for the Warriors.

Mansfield, 163 @ Taunton, 194 – FinalMansfield continued its unbeaten start to the season with its second straight win over the Tigers, this time at Segregansett Country Club. Joe Gormley had the low-round for the Hornets, coming off the links with a 38 while Nate Morreale was right behind with a 39. Ryan Doherty added a 42 and Hunter Tang added a 44 in the win.

Stoughton, 179 @ North Attleboro, 161 – FinalNorth Attleboro defend its home green at Heather Hill Country Club, taking down visiting Stoughton behind a match-medalist round of 39 from sophomore Jake Gaskin. Tyler DeMattio added a 40 for the Rocketeers while both Sam Gallagher and Dillon Harding chipped in with a 41. Anthony Hern paced the Knights with a 42, Jonah Hochberg and Max Huminik each came in at 45 and Jake Curtis finished with a 47.

Boys Cross Country
King Philip, 41 @ Franklin, 18 – FinalNicholas Calitri broke his own course record, setting a new time of 15:56 as he crossed first in Franklin’s win over King Philip. Griffin Sieczkiewicz (16:19) took second overall on the 3.05 mile course and Josh Anderson (16:21) rounded out the top three for the Panthers. Declan Walmsley (fifth, 16:52) and Clancy Golden (seventh, 17:21) also scored in the Panthers’ win.

Mansfield, 32 @ Taunton, 23 – FinalTaunton swept the top three spots in the race to earn its first ever win over Mansfield since joining the Hockomock League. Senior Nolan Tavares won the race in 17:11 while classmate Ty Cali (17:29) took second and freshman Brayden Cali (17:43) was third overall. Junior Ryan Strawbridge (17:51) and Andrew Cali (17:51.5) also scored for the Tigers.

Girls Cross Country
King Philip, 48 @ Franklin, 15 – Final

Mansfield, 24 @ Taunton, 32 – FinalMansfield had the top three finishers in Thursday’s race, all finishing within a minute of one another to get a win over Taunton. Abigail Greenberg crossed the finish line at 20:39 to take first place for Mansfield while Tessa Lancaster (20:41) and Emma Lamson (21:26) took second and third, respectively. Cassidy Rice (seventh, 23:07) also scored for the Hornets. Senior Lily Valcovic was the top runner for the Tigers, taking fourth overall in 21:48. Eighth graders Colby Dunham (fifth, 22:16) and Emersyn DePonte (sixth, 22:52) had strong showings for Taunton.

Oliver Ames, 5 @ North Attleboro, 0 – Final – Oliver Ames built a 3-0 lead by halftime and tacked on two more in the final quarter to earn a sweep over the Rocketeers. Sophomore Hector Bucio opened the scoring in the 10th minute as OA held a 1-0 advantage through one quarter. Senior Matthew Nikiciuk needed less than a minute into the second quarter to double the lead and junior Mathias Taylor made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute of the game. Nikiciuk scored twice more in the fourth quarter in the 69th minute and the 77th minute to complete his first career hat trick. Senior Colin Milliken notched three assists while Anthony DaCosta had one helper.

Field Hockey
Stoughton, 0 @ Canton, 5 – FinalCanton senior Maria Femia scored a pair of goals as the Bulldogs swept the season series against the Black Knights. After scoring a hat trick earlier this week against Stoughton, Femia found the back of the net twice in Canton’s home opener. Meghan LaBelle, Ellie Bohane, and Erin Lane each added a goal for Canton.

Sharon, 0 @ Foxboro, 7 – Final

Milford 0 @ Franklin, 13 – FinalFranklin recorded its second straight big win, opening its home schedule with a victory over visiting Milford. Senior Amanda Lewandowski and junior Kaitlyn Carney each scored four goals in the win for Franklin, who built a 6-0 lead by halftime. Sara Carney added three assists while Lindsey Morse, Stephanie Bell, Jill Fenerty, Shaw Downing, and Grace Bonacci each scored once.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 4 – FinalOliver Ames scored once in each quarter to secure its second straight win over North Attleboro. Julia Maclaine opened the scoring for the Tigers in the first quarter off an assist by Haley Gilman. Freshman Erin Cottam opened her account with her first varsity goal in the second quarter and then scored an insurance goal in the fourth on an assist from Lexi Gennis. Georgia Costello scored in the third quarter for OA with Maggie Woods recording the assist. OA head coach Sharon Lawrence noted the strong performance from Woods (in the midfield) and Emily Han (defensively). Julia Puccio scored for the Rocketeers while Hannah Bachand made 14 saves in net.

Canton, 146 @ Stoughton, 163 – FinalCanton junior fired a two-under par round of 34 to earn match medalist honors and lead the Bulldogs to a win on the road at Easton Country Club. Owen Donovan and Mike Leonetti were each one-over at 37 while Will Gefteas, Conor Hunter, and Nate MacDonald each shot 38 for the day. Stoughton’s Anthony Hern had a team-low round of 38, Max Huminik added a 40, Jake Curtis finished at 42 for the day, and Jonah Hochberg shot a 43.

King Philip, 179 @ Mansfield, 159 – FinalThe Hornets moved to 4-0 on the season with their second win over King Philip this week. Senior Jason See was the match medalist, leading Mansfield with a match-best score of 38. Nate Morreale was right behind with a 39 while Brian See (41) and Ava Haggis (42) also scored for the Hornets.

Senior James Walsh and freshman Sean Kearns each shot 40 for the Tigers while senior Will Gianni, junior Jake Kaplan, and sophomore Daniel Paul all came into the clubhouse with a 41 for OA.

Andrew Middleton shot a 39 for the Bulldogs, Will Gefteas shot a 42, and Thomas Singleton, Conor Hunter, and Nate MacDonald each carded a round of 43. Jack Rounds and Dylan Quinn split the top spot for Foxboro as both Warriors shot a 42 on the day. Luke Davies, Jack Watts, and Dylan Pothier all shot 43 for Foxboro.

Stoughton, 180 @ Oliver Ames, 146 – FinalOliver Ames senior Logan Domenico carded birdies on each four and five while junior Jo Jo Gaultier birdied the first hole as both Tigers finished the round with a score of 35 to share medalist honors and lead OA to a win over Stoughton. Junior Jake Kaplan added a 38, including a birdie on four, while junior Carter Allbritton also shot a 38.

Mansfield, 137 @ Milford, 186 – FinalMansfield set a new program record with a score of 135, shattering the previous record by eight strokes. The score marked the lowest among Hockomock teams since Oliver Ames posted a 137 in October of 2017. Since 2015, teams have scored under 140 just six times, with five of them being 139. All four of the Hornets that scored finished at par or better with senior Brian See carding a two-under round of 33 to earn match medalist honors. Senior Ryan Dow fired a one-under round of 34 while both seniors Jason See and Joe Gormley shot an even par round of 35. Milford freshman Jacob Hipolito had a team-low round of 45 for the Hawks.
