King Philip, 1 @ Walpole, 2 – FinalKing Philip scored the tying goal early in the third period but Walpole jumped back ahead with the game-winning goal with three minutes to go. After the Rebels scored in the second period, Conor Cooke (from Jack Coulter and Aidan Boulger) brought the Warriors level with 10:05 left in the third. Nate Ihley made 25 saves in net for KP.

Mansfield, 2 vs. Shrewsbury, 1 – FinalMansfield senior Chris Jenkins scored a pair of goals as the Hornets scored an upset win over Shrewsbury, who was on the latest Super 8 watch list. Jenkins scored midway through the first period on a feed from Jack Gormley, and then doubled the lead early in the second with an assist from Conor Benoit. “We played 45 minutes of hockey, it was a great game,” said Mansfield coach Mike Balzarini. The Hornets killed a power play late in the second period while senior goalie Sean McCafferty made 28 saves in the win.

Taunton, 3 @ Stoughton, 1 – FinalLoran Corcoran, Steven Roderick and Dillon Parker each scored once for Taunton as the Tigers skated to a win on the road. Cade O’Connell scored for Stoughton/Brockton while Nathan Petti made 40 saves in net for the Black Knights.

Girls Hockey
Stoughton, 3 vs. St. Joseph’s Prep, 1 – FinalHaley Nelson scored twice and Morgan Lessa had a pair of points as the Black Knights skated to a win over St. Joseph’s Prep. Lessa scored once and had one helper while Jillian Parker and Zofia Bangs each had an assist.

Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 4 vs. Walpole, 3 – FinalMansfield/Oliver Ames saw a two-goal lead disappear in the third period but the Warriors found the game-winner in dramatic fashion with less than a minute to play. Emma Pereira scored her second goal of the game to put MOA up 3-1 early in the third period, with Tess Luciano adding a second period goal for the Warriors. After Walpole scored twice to tie the game, MOA goalie Jess Widdop was sidelined with an injury, forcing the Warriors to play the final 2:15 without a goalie. Because of a penalty, MOA had just five skaters but Reese Pereira linked up with Ella Waryas, who found Alex Ledin for the game-winner with 55 seconds to go. MOA held Walpole off in the final minute without a goalie.

Foxboro, 49 @ Stoughton, 59 – FinalStoughton opened the fourth quarter with a 9-2 run, taking the lead early on in the frame and never letting go for an important division win. With the win, the Black Knights qualify for the state tournament and pull into a tie for second place in the Davenport with the Warriors, one game behind Milford. Brett Pendenza had a strong take along the baseline and Tommy Sanda drained a three to kickstart the run. Obinna Ugwuakazi had a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds, Myles Grigalunas-Powell added 13 points, and Ahmad Jahed scored all nine of his points in the second half for Stoughton, which trailed by two (11-9) after one quarter and by one at halftime (24-23) and at the end of the third quarter (37-36). Donald Rogers and Brandon Borde each had 14 points for Foxboro.

Girls Basketball
Franklin, 52 vs. Holy Name, 43 – FinalIn a potential playoff preview, the Panthers held off a second half charge from Holy Name to sweep the season series against the Div. 1 Central challenger. Franklin jumped out to a 34-18 lead at halftime, but the Naps rallied after the break to cut the lead to as little as five. The Panthers shut down the visitors over the final four minutes to extend the lead back out to nine. Ali Brigham led the way with 20 points and Olivia Quinn added 12. Megan O’Connell chipped in with eight points for the Panthers.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ King Philip, 1 – FinalKing Philip sophomore Nolan Feyler scored the lone goal of the game in the first period and seniors Nate Ihley and Jesper Makudera combined for the shutout in net for the Warriors. Feyler lit the lamp at 6:57 of the opening period on an assist from senior Kyle Gray. Ihley and Makudera combined to make 20 saves in net. OA senior goalie Owen Connor had a strong game in net for the Tigers.

Taunton, 7 vs. Cardinal Spellman, 1 – FinalTaunton senior Mike Albert had a hand in all but one of the Tigers’ seven goals, leading the hosts to a big win over Spellman. Albert scored a hat trick and added three more assists to lead the way while Jack DeMoura scored once along with three assists, Nathan Fernandez and Brady Nichols each had a goal and an assist, and Conor McGrath added a goal for Taunton. Andrew Gomes and Sean Bunker split time in net for the win.

Stoughton, 7 @ Shawsheen, 2 – FinalStoughton’s Morgan Lessa scored five goals and had one assist as the Black Knights skated to a season sweep of Shawsheen. Samantha Sherman and Jillian Parker each had a pair of assists in the win, Haley Nelson (assist) and Zofia Bangs each scored once, and Mikayla Snyder and Morgan Johnston both chipped in with an assist.

Scituate Quad (Canton)

Duxbury Super Quad (Sharon, Stoughton) – Sharon added four more wins to its total this season, finishing the dual meet season (28-3) on a high note. The Eagles had wins over Southeastern (36-0), Duxbury (48-31), Pembroke (55-10), and Marshfield (60-12). Kyle Samuels and Conor Grew earned their first varsity wins for Sharon.

Girls Basketball
Sharon, 40 vs. Cardinal Spellman, 45 – FinalKaitlyn Wallace led the Eagles in scoring for the second straight night, finishing with 13, but Sharon was unable to pick up a non-league win. Leah Fandel added 11 and Ally Brown scored nine in the loss. Sharon trailed by eight at halftime (32-24) and clamped down defensively in the second half to try and make a comeback. The Eagles allowed only 13 points after the break, but Spellman was tough on the defensive end of the floor as well to hold on for the win.

Boys Hockey
Attleboro, 2 @ King Philip, 4 – FinalKing Philip scored three goals in the opening period in a win over visiting Attleboro. Sophomore Nolan Feyler opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game with assists from Rocco Bianculli and Kyle Gray, and Bianculli doubled the last two minutes later (from Feyler and Joe Boselli) for an early 2-0 lead. Attleboro’s Liam McDonough scored (from Owen Dryjowicz) to cut the deficit in half just past the midway point of the first but KP’s Conor Cooke (from Bianculli and Gray) scored just over a minute later to regain KP’s two-goal advantage. The Bombardiers once again got within a goal when Nate Parker scored with 3:15 to go in the second but KP had an answer as Boselli (from Feyler) scored 31 seconds later to make it 4-2.

Stoughton, 8 @ Durfee, 2 – FinalDante Massaro led the way for Stoughton with a hat trick, leading to a big road win. Ryan Flannery and Cade O’Connell each scored twice and Joe McNulty wrapped up the scoring for Stoughton. Nathan Petti earned the win between the pipes.

Taunton, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 6 – Final










Girls Hockey
Canton, 3 @ Medway/Ashland, 3 – FinalCanton rallied for a pair of goals in the final four minutes to earn a draw with Medway/Ashland.

Franklin, 2 vs. Medfield, 2 – Final

Stoughton, 2 vs. Wayland, 6 – FinalJill Parker scored and had an assist in a loss at home to Wayland. Parker and Morgan Lessa assisted on a goal from Haley Nelson while Parker scored the Knights’ second goal with Ava Buckley and Samantha Sherman recording assists.

King Philip, 2 vs. Dedham, 4 – FinalKing Philip’s Makenzie Shandley and Morgan Cunningham scored and Avari Maxwell had an assist but the Warriors fell at home to Dedham. Cristina Coleman made 12 saves in net for KP.

Wrestling
Canton, 18 @ North Attleboro, 48 – FinalNorth Attleboro earned seven of its nine wins by pinfall to secure a key division win over visiting Canton. Keysun Wise needed just nine seconds to get a pin at 220 while Ethan Smith (126, 1:23), Chris Galligan (132, 0:32), Jon Lozinski (145, 5:50), Michael Edmonds (170, 2:18), Alex Warsofsky (195, 2:34), and John Kummer (285, 0:57) also recorded pins. Andrew Faris (138) earned a 4-2 decision in overtime while Joe Shepard (182) won 11-6. For Canton, Yurii Leskiv (106, 2:31) and Eddie Marinilli (152, 0:27) won by pin while Zachary Peters (113) won 6-4 in overtime and Jobi Michel (160) picked up a 14-9 win.

Sharon, 46 @ Foxboro, 15 – FinalThe Eagles moved another step closer to bringing home its first ever league meet title with a strong performance against perennial power Foxboro. Adam Landstein, Amit Levin, David Gelman, Aaron Cashton, Max Pozner, Kirit Gosetty, Tyler Freedman, Philip Varvak, Rhamsez Thevenin, and Eric Rabkin all earned wins for Sharon. The Eagles will host North Attleboro next week with a chance to clinch at least a share of the Davenport crown.

Mansfield, 31 @ Franklin, 37 – FinalFranklin heavyweight Matthew Leofanti earned a pin in the final match of the night to give the Panthers a thrilling win over the Hornets in a hard fought match. Jake Carlucci, Kenny Sauer, and Dom Sackley also had pinfall victories for the Panthers.

Taunton, 51 vs. Keefe Tech, 19 – FinalThe Tigers picked up a non-league victory over Keefe Tech on Wednesday night, earning seven wins by pinfall. Both Jackson Mandeville (138, 0:40) and Ethan Harris (145, 0:57) pinned their opponents in under a minute while James Collins (106, 1:06), Xavier Sandoval (126, 3:14), Ben Mandeville (132, 3:39), Christian Balmain (152, 3:20), and Jackson Wellman (195, 2:39) also win by pin for Taunton. Peter Ye notched a 5-0 decision at 182 for the Tigers.

Foxboro, 0 @ King Philip, 4 – FinalKing Philip’s offense delivered three goals in the middle period, building on its lead from the first period to notch a league win over Foxboro. KP took a 1-0 lead in the first on a goal from Nolan Feyler with Joe Boselli and Rocco Bianculli earning assists. In the second, Boselli scored twice and Jack Coulter added a third to build the big advantage. Chris Daniels and Kyle Gray set Boselli up for his first goal while Bianculli grabbed his second assist on KP’s third goal. Conor Cooke and Aidan Boulger had assists on Coulter’s goal. Jesper Makudera made 18 saves in net to earn the shutout for KP.

Franklin, 4 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – FinalClick here for a photo gallery from this game.Franklin cashed in for a pair of goals in the first period behind a strong start and tacked on two more in the third period to skate past OA in league action. The Panthers peppered the net in the opening minutes with Colin Hedvig scoring unassisted just 59 seconds into the game. Shane McCaffrey added a goal on a wrist shot with 4:05 to go in the opening frame. After a scoreless second, Franklin extended its league with a shorthanded goal as Tom Tasker finished off a pass from Kyle Hedvig on an odd-man rush. OA’s Jake Gottwald redirected a shot from Zach Manganaro to get the Tigers on the board but McCaffrey sealed the game with an empty netter. OA goalie Owen Connor had 36 saves in net.

Mansfield, 1 @ Shrewsbury, 4 – Final

North Attleboro, 4 @ Taunton, 2 – FinalClick here for a photo gallery from this game.North Attleboro built a four goal lead before holding off a late surge from Taunton to pick up a league win. The Rocketeers struck just over two minutes into the game as sophomore Sam Clarke capitalized in front after some hard work from Brady Sarro. Clarke added his second on a redirect on a shot from Charlie Connolly with under a minute to go in the first period. Dennis Morehouse made it 3-0 with a nice finish in front in the second period and Sarro tipped in a shot early in the third to make it 3-0. Taunton’s Brady Nichols scored with five minutes to go and then help set up a goal from freshman Colton Scheralis.

Stoughton, 6 vs. Durfee, 1 – FinalJunior Dante Massaro paced the offense with a three goal hat trick performance, helping Stoughton/Brockton earn its second straight win. Colin Alessi added a pair of goals in the win while junior Jack Mahoney scored once.

Stoughton, 6 vs. Quincy/North Quincy, 6 – FinalStoughton stormed back, scoring five times in the final period to earn a tie with Quincy/North Quincy. Morgan Lessa had a hand in all six of the goals. She recorded a hat trick and assisted on the other three. Zoey Bangs added two goals and Haley Nelson had the sixth. Nelson also had three assists. Sam Sherman had an assist for Stoughton as well.

Boys Basketball
Canton, 47 @ Norwood, 46 – FinalCanton erased a double-digit halftime deficit and sophomore Lanse Dorcelus hit a pair of huge three-pointers later to help the Bulldogs knock off previously unbeaten Norwood. The Bulldogs trailed 26-16 at halftime but outscored the Mustangs 18-7 in the third to make it a one-point game going into the fourth. Trailing 42-38, Dorcelus’ three-pointers helped Canton take a 46-44 lead. Robbie Gallery (eight points) added a key free throw and Canton got a stop on the final possession to secure the win. Dorcelus finished with a team-high 12 points while Kyle Fitzgerald and Eric Mischler each added eight points in the win.

Stoughton, 91 vs. Boston English, 83 – FinalStoughton scored 20 or more points in each quarter, picking up the separation it needed by holding Boston English to 14 points in the third quarter to pick up a win in the first round of the Blue Devils Holiday Classic at Randolph High. Senior Myles Grigalunas-Powell scored 11 of his 18 points in the opening quarter as the Black Knights trailed by just one, 25-24, at the first break. Tied 44-44 at halftime, Stoughton poured in 25 points in the third quarter with Ahmad Jahed scoring half of his 16 points in the fame and Obinna Ugwuakazi scoring eight of his team-high 27 points. Senior Tahkwan Gates Brown added eight of his career-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to help the Black Knights seal the win. Stoughton will play host Randolph in the tournament final on Monday at 6:30.

Taunton, 71 @ Durfee, 44 – FinalTaunton pushed its win streak to four with its third straight double-digit victory, earning the Skip Karam championship title. The Tigers built a double-digit lead in the first quarter, putting up 22 points, and never looked back. Six players entered the score sheet in the opening period led by eight points from sophomore Trent Santos, who finished with 13 points. Junior Tyler Stewart scored six of his team-high 15 points in the second quarter to help Taunton build a 40-19 lead by halftime. Sophomore Faisal Mass added 13 points in the win while sophomore Tristan Herry, junior Josh Lopes, and junior Nigel Choate each added eight points in the win.

Girls Basketball
Foxboro, 65 vs. Concord-Carlisle, 21 – FinalThe Warriors tossed a shutout in the first quarter, essentially putting the game away with a 27-0 lead after eight minutes. Katelyn Mollica led all scorers with 20 points and Shakirah Ketant added 12. Nine Warriors got on the score sheet.

Mansfield, 48 vs. Fontbonne, 52 – FinalFontbonne used a big third quarter to build a sizable lead, which grew to as many as 16 points in the fourth, but the Hornets went on a 20-6 run to get back within two points (50-48) with 30 seconds remaining. Fontbonne hit a pair of free throws with 14 seconds to play to seal the win in the consolation game of the holiday tournament. Kayla Vine scored 13 points to pace the Hornets. Ashley Santos scored nine and was named to the all-tournament team and Ally Prentis chipped in with seven points in the loss.

Milford, 40 vs. Greater Lawrence, 26 – FinalJunior Emma Lawrence scored a team-high 14 points as the Scarlet Hawks knocked off Greater Lawrence in the opening round of the Edmund Murphy Winter Tournament. Jillian Michaelson added 12 points in the win while Carly Ferreira had a strong game on the boards with 12 rebounds. Milford will take on host Dracut in the championship game on Sunday at 7:00.

Oliver Ames, 69 vs. Brockton, 38 – Final Oliver Ames bounced back from its first loss of the season with a dominanting performance in the consolation of the Sue Rivard Holiday Classic, knocking off Brockton, 69-38. Caroline Flynn led the charge for the Tigers, going 15-for-17 from the free throw line to finish with a team-high 23 points. Caroline Peper added 11 points and Hailey Bourne chipped in with 10 points.

Boys Hockey
Canton, 7 @ Westwood, 0 – Final

Franklin, 0 @ Mount St. Charles, 2 – FinalFranklin goalie Ray Ivers made 28 saves to keep the Panthers in the contest, which was a one-goal game until the final minute until Mount St. Charles tacked on an empty net goal with 18.6 seconds left. Franklin will take on Fairfield Prep out of Connecticut on Sunday at 4:00.

King Philip, 1 vs. North Quincy, 3 – FinalKing Philip tied the game in the first period but entered the final period down a goal. The Warriors dominated the third period but couldn’t find an equalizer and the Raiders tacked on an insurance goal with just under two minutes to play. Joe Boselli’s first period goal was assisted by Nolan Feyler.

Stoughton, 43 vs. Milton, 40 – FinalBehind strong performances from a pair of seniors, Stoughton broke into the win column in its first game inside its new gym. Senior Shyanne Trinh scored a team-high 16 points while classmate Aliyah Wright had 15 points for the Black Knights.

Boys Hockey
King Philip, 4 vs. Bishop Feehan, 1 – FinalAfter falling behind in the first period on a penalty shot, King Philip scored four unanswered goals to knock off Bishop Feehan. Junior Aidan Boulger scored his first goal of the game in the first period to knot the score at 1-1 after 15 minutes of play. The Warriors broke the game open with three second period goals, starting with a goal from sophomore Nolan Feyler, scoring his first career goal in his first game just 30 seconds into the period. Senior Chris Daniels opened his account on a wrap around to make it 3-1, and Boulger deposited his second of the game to make it 4-1. Senior Jesper Makudera made 33 saves to earn the win in net for KP.

Attleboro, 3 vs. Dighton-Rehoboth/Seekonk, 1 – FinalAttleboro freshman Aidan Dryjowicz netted his first career goal and added an assist to help the Bombardiers knock off DRS. Sean Marshall and Aidan Diggin also scored in the win while Ryan Morry had two helpers for Attleboro. Jake Ward, Zach Pierce, and Owen Dryjowicz also recorded an assist in the win.

Girls Hockey

Attleboro freshman Esvin Morales put the visitors ahead off an assist from Joey Soucy, putting the Bombardiers ahead in the 7th minute. But four minutes later, Sharon senior Brian Higgins brought the hosts level on an assist from James Zhang.

Junior Ethan Cain opened the scoring on an assist from senior Sam Stowell while sophomore Terry O’Neill put the Panthers up 2-0, converting a feed from senior Donny Tappin. Senior Jacob Cummings made it 3-0 with Cain grabbing the assist.

King Philip, 1 @ North Attleboro, 0 – FinalSenior Owen Teixeira scored the lone goal of the game with just over three minutes left to help KP grab two points on the road. Teixeira took a pass from junior Anthony Zappala and rifled a shot from 25 yards out to put the Warriors ahead.

Foxboro, 0 @ Franklin, 1 – FinalThe Panthers hit on a counterattack nine minutes into the game, Sydney St. Marie heading in a cross by Chloe Barca, to hand Foxboro its first defeat of the season. The Warriors pressured throughout the game, but the Panthers defense was excellent, according to head coach Tom Geysen, to keep Foxboro off the board. Anna Balkus had the job of marking Foxboro forward Jordyn Collins and she was helped in the first half by freshman Norah Anderson, who got across on the cover to clear away a chance with a sliding tackle. Breanna Atwood made 12 saves in goal to earn the clean sheet.

North Attleboro, 0 @ King Philip, 5 – FinalKing Philip got off to a strong start, netting four first half goals to earn a win at home over North Attleboro. Ally Stanton scored in the 4th minute off a feed from Makayla Griffin, and again in the 15th minute, converting a cross from Ava Tormey. Avery Snead (22nd minute) and Chloe Layne (26th minute) set one another up for goals. Snead added a strike in the second half in the 46th minute with Stanton getting the assist.

Stoughton, 0 @ Mansfield, 2 – FinalMaria Sevastos and Abby Jean scored for the Hornets, while goalies Olivia Salisbury and Kelsey Hubler combined for three saves and the shutout. Stoughton goalie Brianna Buckley had a strong game in goal for the Black Knights.

Milford, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – FinalAfter trading first half goals, Oliver Ames found the game-winner in the second half to earn two points against the Hawks at home. Senior Abby Hodges put the Tigers up in the first half while sophomore Camryn O’Connor scored the game-winner, finishing off a corner from senior Erin Holmberg.

Stoughton, 2 vs. Brockton, 1 – FinalHaley Nelson and Morgan Lessa each scored to lead the Black Knights to a win at home over visiting Brockton.

Volleyball
Canton, 3 vs. Notre Dame Academy, 0 – FinalCanton earned a regular season sweep of NDA, winning 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 27-25) at home. Taylor Harris had a standout performance, hitting 0.487 while putting down 22 kills along with 11 digs. Claire Quinn added eight kills and 13 digs while Jackie Morrissey dished out 27 assists while recording three kills and nine digs for the Bulldogs.

Mansfield, 0 @ North Attleboro, 3 – Final

Oliver Ames, 3 vs. Brockton, 0 – FinalOliver Ames avenged its season-opening loss to the Boxers with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-20) sweep at home. Sarah Morley had a strong game with 10 digs and five aces, Allie Kemp added 25 assists, and Alison Barth added 27 digs. Caroline Flynn and Jordan Bosse paced the offense with 10 kills apiece.

Golf
Mansfield, 152 @ Attleboro, 169 – FinalMansfield picked up a win over Attleboro at Stone-E-Lea, clinching the Kelley-Rex division title outright. Ryan Dow was the match medalist with a low round of 35 while Ava Haggis, Brian See, and Joseph Gormley each shot 39 in the win.

Franklin, 170 @ Foxboro, 173 – FinalFranklin’s Jack Paterson was the match medalist, shooting a team-low round of 40 to pace the Panthers to a close win over Foxboro. Pat Dolan added a 41, Brian Sandham shot a 43, and Jake Blaney chipped in with a 46. Foxboro’s Matt Fossella (three pars) sank a birdie, finishing with a 41. Dylan Quinn (five pars) added a 43, Noah Hicks shot 44, and Jack Rounds finished with a 45 for the Warriors.
