Tuesday’s Schedule & Scoreboard – 10/16/18

Boys Soccer
Attleboro, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – Final – Oliver Ames scored once in each half, earning a 2-0 win over Attleboro to punch its ticket to the state tournament for the 10th straight season. Sophomore Anthony DaCosta gave the Tigers the lead in the 14th minute, hitting a half volley at the top of the box. DaCosta’s shot deflated off an Attleboro defender, catching the keeper going the wrong way. In the second half, sophomore Colin Milliken made it 2-0 in the 58th minute. After a long ball forced the keeper way off his line, Milliken collected the loose ball and lofted a shot from 40 yards out into the open net.

Canton, 2 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final – Canton took an early lead and added a late insurance goal to pick up two points against Stoughton. Paul Corcoran and Griffin Roach each scored once for the Bulldogs. Stoughton’s Fabio Ponce de Leon hit the crossbar just before half as the Knights nearly tied it before the break. Nolan Gerome had 23 saves in net for the Knights.

Milford, 2 @ Foxboro, 2 – Final – Milford took a late 1-0 lead in the first half, Foxboro stormed back in the second half to take a 2-1 lead but the Hawks equalized just minutes later to earn a draw on the road. Jordan Borges put Milford up in the 39th, heading in a free kick from Tiago Carvalho. Nic Beigel tied it 1-1 in the 52nd minute on an assist from Shane VandenBoom. VandenBoom then set up Dylan Barreira in the 64th minute for the 2-1 advantage. Milford leveled the match six minutes later when Anthony Salvador found the back of the net on an assist from Lucas Caetano. Borges and Leo Coelho both had strong games for the Hawks.

Mansfield, 0 @ Franklin, 0 – Final – Franklin goalie Jack Rudolph thwarted a dozen scoring chances and the Panthers’ team defense helped keep the Hornets off the scoreboard in a scoreless draw. Rudolph had 12 saves while Mansfield keeper Anthony Salisbury also had a shutout.

King Philip, 3 @ Taunton, 4 – Final – Taunton raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first half and then had to hold off a furious rally from King Philip in the second half to get the win. Mateusz Hagemajer had a natural hat trick, scoring the first three goals of the game, opening the scoring in the 9th minute off an assist from Evan Melo. Hagemajer made it 2-0 off an assist from Brett Beaulieu in the 16th minute and 3-0 in the 24th minute. Alec Nunes made it 4-0 in the 31st minute. King Philip scored three times in a 20-minute span in the second half. Jimmy Dumont (40’), Stephen Griffin (55′), and Zac White (60′) each scored for KP.

Girls Soccer
Oliver Ames, 1 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Oliver Ames’ Caroline Peper made her mark in her first varsity game, scoring the lone goal to help the Tigers earn two points on the road. OA head coach Britt Sellmayer said Brianna Gibson, Emma Pereira and Olivia Carroll played well for the Tigers.

Stoughton, 2 @ Canton, 8 – Final – Stoughton’s Mackenzie Manning scored both goals for the Knights, with Hannah Papagno assisting on the first strike. Manning added a second from the penalty spot.

Milford, 0 @ Foxboro, 2 – Final – Click here for a recap and photo gallery of this game.

Franklin, 2 @ Mansfield, 1 – Final – The Panthers edged Mansfield in a back-and-forth game behind goals from Sam Powderly and Sydney St. Marie. Sydney Mulkern scored the goal for the Hornets. With the win, Franklin moves to within just one point of league-leading Mansfield.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Sharon, 0 – Final – Ashlyn Gaulin had another big game for the Rocketeers, as the league’s leading scorer had a hat trick and an assist to keep North three points back of Foxboro in the Davenport. Lexi Sinacola and Kayla Pasquel also scored for North, while Emma Noreck and Regan Fein split time in goal to keep a clean sheet. Hannah Davis, Lauren Pezzi and Tess Collins also played well for the Rocketeers.

Taunton, 0 @ King Philip, 7 – Final – Jenna Hitchens led the way for the Warriors with a hat trick and an assist, as KP got back on track, ending a five-game winless streak. Avery Snead and Chloe Layne each had a goal and two assists in the win. Jaida Caruso also scored off an assist from Jillian Anderson and Ally Stanton had one goal for KP.

Field Hockey
North Attleboro, 1 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – Haley Nelson scored for Stoughton while Tara Nair scored for North Attleboro as the teams each took a point from the game.

Canton, 47 @ Milford, 15 – Final – Milford swept the top five spots in the race on its way to a big win over the visiting Bulldogs. Milford’s Anthony DiStauro, Max Manor, and Brendan O’Shaughnessy were the top three runners, while Canton’s Kyle Downing took sixth overall as the top finisher for the Bulldogs.

Mansfield, 17 @ Taunton, 55 – Final – Mansfield took the first four spots in the race, with all four runners clocking in under 17 minutes, in a win over Taunton. Jason Windvogel was first overall with fellow Hornets Patrick Heavey, Mike Mullahy, and Paxton Howard crossing in a seven-second span. Taunton’s Nolan Tavares was the top Tiger, finishing fifth overall.

Stoughton, 50 @ Sharon, 15 – Final – Sharon swept the top five finishers on its way to a win over Stoughton, which clinched the outright Davenport division championship for the Eagles. The Eagles swept the entire top 10 with Jared Osofsky getting his first win of the season. Alex Starovoytov, Jacob Dubin, Jordan Saks, and Nathan Stockton rounded out the top five. Stoughton’s Colin Rahaman was the top runner for the Knights at 17:15.

Franklin, 27 @ Attleboro, 37 – Final – Attleboro had the first two runners cross the finish line but Franklin swept 3-5 and clinched the win by getting seventh and eighth in the win. Julia Fenerty (19:41) was the top Panther, taking third, followed by Sydney Hawkins in fourth and Kat Walbert in fifth. Attleboro’s Shea Jamieson was first overall while Kelly Neuendorf took second.

Mansfield, 22 @ Taunton, 33 – Final – Mansfield’s Margaret Riley and Tessa Lancaster took the top two spots and the supporting cast of Jessica Alestock, Brinly Meelia, and Emma Lamson all finished inside the top eight to secure the win and the Hockomock League Kelley-Rex division championship. For the first time this season, Riley crossed the finish line in under 20 minutes (19:56).

Stoughton, 44 @ Sharon, 17 – Final – The first four runners to cross the finish line were all from Sharon as the Eagles ran away with a win over visiting Stoughton. Eliana Boxerman took first place with Daphne Theiler, Juliana Dudziak, and Margaret Li all crossing just a second later. Stoughton’s Rebecca Lally took fifth overall, clocking in at 20:37.

Milford, 163 @ Canton, 158 – Final – Canton edged Milford by five strokes, earning a win and clinching the program’s second straight Davenport division title. Tommy Dimock was the match medalist with an impressive low-round of 33 to pace the Bulldogs. Thomas Singleton added a round of 38, Mike Gobbi shot 43, and Mike Leonetti chipped in with a 44. Justin Applebee and Alex Klosen each had a 40 for the Hawks, Riley Lynch added a round of 41 and Ed Madden finished with a 42.

Foxboro, 172 @ Sharon, 169 – Final – Sharon defended its home course, beating the visiting Warriors by three strokes. Corey Carter led the way for the Eagles with a round of 37 while Andrew Glaser shot a 40. Noah Hicks shot 40 to lead Foxboro.

Franklin, 158 @ Mansfield, 154 – Final – Mansfield pulled off its second straight upset, knocking off visiting Franklin. A day after beating Oliver Ames, the Hornets earned a four-stroke victory over the Panthers. A trio of sophomores – Jason See, Joseph Gormley, and Nate Morreale – all shot 38 to pace Mansfield while sophomore Brandon Kemp added a round of 40.

King Philip, 160 @ North Attleboro, 163 – Final – King Philip earned a nice crossover win over North Attleboro on the middle course at Heather Hill Country Club. Kayla Schuberth had a low-round for the Warriors, shooting a 39 while Jack Hastry and Ian Nally each shot 40 and Nate Ihley added a 41. North Attleboro’s Jillian Barend was the match medalist with a 2-over par round of 37. Marcus Costa (40), Matt Wanless (42), and Pat Roberts (44) also scored for the Rocketeers.

Oliver Ames, 147 @ Stoughton, 183 – Final – Oliver Ames’ top four golfers all had rounds of under 40 and the Tigers rolled to a big win at Easton Country Club. Nolan Donze led the way with a medalist round of 35, Liam Barry and Sam Becker each shot 37, and Brad Powers finished with a 38. Kyle Stone and Nick Szum each shot a 42 for the host Black Knights.

Foxboro, 5 @ Sharon, 0 – Final – Foxboro came out firing on all cylinders, scoring five goals in the first half to earn two points on the road. Jordyn Collins set the tone inside the opening minute, taking a pass from Lizzy Davis and scoring to put the visitors ahead. Kenzi Fraser, Kailee McCabe, Katie Hunter, and Katelyn Mollica (from Kaitryn Franchino) all scored once for the Warriors.

North Attleboro, 1 @ Braintree, 0 – Final – North Attleboro bounced back from a loss to Foxboro with a solid non-league road win. Ashlyn Gaulin scored the game’s only goal when she followed up her own shot that had caromed off the crossbar and she tapped in the rebound. North coach William Wallace praised the play of Kayla Pasquel, Haley Ferrin, Lydia Santos, and Bri Westcott in the middle of the field. Emma Noreck earned the clean sheet in goal.

Stoughton, 0 vs. Norwood, 3 – Final

Field Hockey
Franklin, 4 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Cassi Ronan set up a pair of goals in the first half and the Panthers scored two more in the second half to beat Attleboro. Ronan assisted on Regan Paterson’s goal that put the Panthers up 1-0, and then set up Victoria Quinn as Franklin took a 2-0 lead into half. Sara Carney and Stephanie Bell each scored unassisted goals in the second half and Anna Jardine made four saves in goal for the shutout.

Canton, 3 @ Milford, 0 – Final

Foxboro, 4 @ North Attleboro, 0 – Final

King Philip, 6 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final – Meghan MacDonald, Alli Meehan, and Nicole Connor all scored in the first half, helping the Warriors build a 3-0 lead that it never relinquished in a win over Oliver Ames. Abby Nixon had an assist on MacDonald’s opening goal with 12:49 left in the first half. Meehan set Connor up with 4:41 left in the half, and then switched roles for a 4-0 lead less than three minutes into the second. Meehan finished with three goals and an assist and sophomore Olivia Kulesza added a late goal for KP. Oliver Ames sophomore Brynna Courneen scored her first goal of the season off a penalty corner in the second half.

Mansfield, 0 @ Taunton 0 – Final – Taunton goalie Emma Sheehan made 10 saves to help keep the contest equal.

Stoughton, 2 @ Sharon, 0 – Final – Allie Howe and Haley Nelson each scored once in the second half to lead the Black Knights to a win on the road at Sharon.

Volleyball
Canton, 3 @ Milford, 1 – Final – After splitting the first two sets, Canton won a close third game and went on to finish the match with a 3-1 victory (25-15, 18-25, 25-23, 25-16). Erin Devine has a great night for the Bulldogs, finishing with 12 kills and six blocks. Taylor Harris added nine kills, two blocks and 12 digs, Nicole Brown continued to impress with 22 assists, five kills, three aces and 11 digs, and Emily Morrison and Megan McDonough (five aces) combined for 19 digs.

Foxboro, 1 @ North Attleboro, 3 – Final

King Philip, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – Final – King Philip went on the road and recorded a 3-0 sweep (25-7, 25-21, 25-20) against Oliver Ames. KP middles Catherine Waldeck (12 kills, two blocks) and Nicole Coughlan (seven kills, five blocks, two aces) both had strong games for the Warriors while, Kat Kmetz added 12 digs, two kills, and a pair of aces, and Shayla Weitzman finished with 14 digs, four aces, and 13 service points. For Oliver Ames, senior Jackie Raymond had eight aces, senior Sadie Homer finished with 36 digs, and junior Allie Kemp had 16 assists.

Mansfield, 3 @ Taunton, 2 – Final – Mansfield fell behind 2-1 but battled back to win the fourth set, and went on to win the decisive fifth set for a win over Taunton (16-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-17, 15-7). For Mansfield, Greenly Kelly had nine kills, four blocks and 14 service points, Sam Sternberg added 15 digs and 10 service points, Olivia McGrath had a nice game with 13 kills and 10 service points, and Katie Dardinski chipped in with nine digs and 13 service points.

King Philip, 158 @ Attleboro, 173 – Final

Foxboro, 173 @ Taunton, 174 – Final

Foxboro, 173 @ Oliver Ames, 153 – Final – Oliver Ames picked a pair of wins, including a divisional victory, by beating Foxboro and Taunton in a tri-match at Pine Oaks. Nolan Donze paced Oliver Ames with a 36, Liam Barry shot 38, Ryan Bock carded a round of 39, and Justin Shapiro finished with a 40.

Taunton, 174 @ Oliver Ames, 153 – Final

Franklin, 163 vs. Medway, 178 – Final – Franklin defended its home course against non-league foe Medway on Friday afternoon. Quinten Faro paced the Panthers with a team-low round of 40 while Matt D’Errico and Jack Paterson each shot a 41.

North Attleboro, 191 @ Sharon, 160 – Final – Ethan Skelly shot a 37 and Corey Carter shot a 38 to Sharon to a win at the Cape Club of Sharon. Max Brody carded a 41 and Andrew Glaser shot 44 to contribute to the win.

Attleboro, 2 @ Foxboro, 8 – Final – Foxboro junior Dylan Barreira stayed red hot, scoring six goals for the second straight game to lead the Warriors to a big win at home. Barreira scored three goals in each half, giving the hosts a 3-1 edge at the break. Nic Beigel (assist) and Chris Amiable each scored once while Matt Garcia had two assists and Will Morrison had one helper.

Mansfield, 0 @ Canton, 0 – Final – Both Canton and Mansfield had a handful of corners and long throw in chances but neither side could break the stalemate. Mansfield goalie Anthony Salisbury made a terrific one-handed diving save in the 54th minute to rob Griffin Roach of a goal from just outside the area. On the ensuing corner, Simon Cruz had a big on goal denied by defender Matt O’Donnell, who was positioned at the near post. Alejandro Correal had a strong game in net for the Bulldogs.

Franklin, 0 @ North Attleboro, 0 – Final

King Philip, 7 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – King Philip raced out to a 3-1 lead at halftime and added four more goals in the second half to pick up two points on the road. KP scored three goals inside the first 11 minutes with sophomore Evan McEvoy (from Zac White) scoring the opening strike and assisting on Ian Zimmerman’s goal two minutes later. Tony Bozza mad 3-0 before Stoughton freshman Mateo Eschleman converted a long throw-in from Ikenna Dike to get on the board. In the second half, McEvoy (from John Cullen) and Cam Lawrence (from Bozza) scored in the first four minutes to make it 6-1. Senior Justin Willson added two more goals on assists from Gavon Fox and Andrew Thompson.

Taunton, 0 @ Milford, 4 – Final – Milford exploded for three goals in the second half to earn a convincing win over visiting Taunton. Omar Lema scored his second goal in as many games just two minutes in to give the Hawks an early lead. But Milford didn’t add onto it until the second half. Jordan Borges made it 2-0 just minutes into the second half on an assist from Walisson de Oliveira. Borges then returned the favor, setting de Oliveira up to a pair of goals to give the Hawks a 4-0 win.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ Sharon, 2 – Final – Sharon took a very early lead but had to come up with a late equalizer in the first half to earn a point against visiting Oliver Ames. Isaiah Stessman put the Eagles up less than two minutes in, converting a cross from Brian Higgins to make it 1-0. OA capitalized on an Eagle miscue as Jimmy Keane pounced on a loose ball and tied it for OA. The Tigers then took a lead as sophomore Colin Milliken blasted a shot from atop the 18 to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage. With five seconds left in the first half, Higgins used a nice individual effort to get by the defense and scored to make it 2-2.

Girls Soccer
Foxboro, 3 @ Attleboro, 2 – Final – Attleboro took an early led but Foxboro battled back to get the advantage and earn two points. After Attleboro took a 1-0 lead, Jordyn Collins equalized for Foxboro, converting an assist from Kenzi Fraser. Freshman Kailee McCabe scored on a penalty kick midway through the first half, and then scored again in the second half on a pass from Lizzy Davis.

Canton, 0 @ Mansfield, 4 – Final – Maria Sevastos scored twice and assisted on another as Mansfield stayed unbeaten with a four-goal flurry in the first half against Canton. Steph Kemp and Cassidy McMahon each scored goals for the Hornets and McMahon added an assist as well. Emily Vigeant assisted on a pair of goals in the win.

North Attleboro, 0 @ Franklin, 2 – Final – Stella Regan had a pair of goals in the first half, assisted by Calen Frongillo and Hailey Toolin, to lead the Panthers to a big cross-over win. Breanna Atwood made eight saves to preserve the clean sheet for Franklin. Emma Noreck made six saves for the Rocketeers.

Stoughton, 2 @ Brockton, 0 – Final – Haley Nelson and Allie Howe each cored once as Stoughton went on the road and beat the Boxers of Brockton High. Kayla Laboy recorded the shutout in goal for the Black Knights.

Stoughton, 184 @ Canton, 147 – Final – Canton’s Tommy Dimock shot a match-low round of 35, earning medalist honors while helping the Bulldogs net their lowest score of the season. Mike Gobbi and Mike Leonetti each shot 37 while Thomas Singleton carded a 38. Josh Hough led Stoughton with a 42 and Luke Bainton shot 44.

Mansfield, 174 @ Franklin, 166 – Final – Franklin notched its second straight win over a division foe, this time knocking off Mansfield at Franklin Country Club. Quinten Faro was the match medalist after carding a low round of 38. Jack Paterson added a 40 for the Panthers while Ryan Dow led Mansfield with a round of 40.

Milford, 181 @ Sharon, 161 – Final – Ethan Skelly earned medalist honors after shooting a 37 at the Cape Club of Sharon, leading the Eagles to a win over Milford. Andrew Glaser and Nathan Daley each shot 41 for Sharon while Corey Carter carded a round of 42. Riley Lynch led Milford with a 39.
