North Attleboro, 3 @ Foxboro, 2 – FinalNorth Attleboro junior Brendan McHugh scored five minutes into the third period to help Big Red beat Foxboro. North’s Drew Wissler and Todd Robinson scored in the second period to build a 2-0 lead but Foxboro’s Aidan Sullivan and Ronnie MacLellan scored within a minute span to tie the game.

King Philip, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – FinalOliver Ames scored once in each period to beat visiting King Philip. OA junior Brett Williams set up Colin Bourne for the opening goal in the first period, Williams scored himself in the second period, and then Williams assisted on Adam Healy’s third-period goal. Sophomore Owen Connor made 17 saves in net for OA.

Wrestling
Div. 1 State Dual Meet (Franklin) – After a bye to start the day, Franklin won three straight dual meets to claim the D1 State Dual Meet championship. The Panthers beat Lawrence (54-9) in the quarterfinals, took down St. John’s Prep (59-11) in the semifinals, and won the title with an impressive 53-13 win over Chelmsford – ranked fourth in the state – in the finals to earn the title.

Div. 2 State Dual Meet (Milford, North Attleboro, Oliver Ames) – North Attleboro beat Oliver Ames (64-3) and Nashoba to advance to the D2 State Dual Finals but fell to Central Catholic. North senior Jake Direnzo picked up his 100th career victory during the day. Oliver Ames opened the day with a decisive 60-15 win over Beverly, and after losing to North Attleboro, defeated defending D2 state champs North Andover in the consolation round, 39-37. Remy Creighton, Casey Bellevue, Brandon Belleton, Dean Pacini, and Darnele Ryan each earned two wins each on the day for OA.

Div. 3 State Dual Meet (Foxboro) – Tied 27-27 entering the final match, Foxboro’s Adam Lanctot pulled out a 6-0 victory to give the Warriors three points, a 30-27 win over Dedham and the program’s second straight D3 State Dual Championship. Foxboro opened the way with a win over AMSA (54-13) and then took down Wayland (46-22) to advance to the finals.

Hingham Quad (Canton, Mansfield) – Mansfield had a solid showing, picking up wins over Scituate (33-17) and the host, Hingham (42-33). Canton also notched a win against the Sailors (44-17) but suffered a setback against the Harbormen (37-34) in a back-and-forth match.

Franklin County Tech Quad (King Philip) – King Philip dropped matches to Franklin Tech (42-34) and West Springfield (51-26).

Bridgewater-Raynham Quad (Stoughton, Stoughton) – Sharon swept the competition at the Bridgewater-Raynham quad. The Eagles beat Silver Lake (60-24), Duxbury (51-24) and host Bridgewater-Raynham (47-30). Stoughton beat Duxbury (48-31) but lost to B-R (47-27).

New Bedford Quad (Taunton) – Taunton suffered three setbacks, falling to New Bedford (38-14), Braintree (48-6) and Dighton-Rehoboth (18-12). Woudanly Danger (220) and Mason Frank (285) each had two wins for the Tigers while Guerard Theodore (132) and Candido Santos (160) each recorded one victory apiece.

Franklin, 134.75 @ Attleboro, 130.1 – FinalFranklin junior Mia Lizotte had her best performance of the season, earning a season-high score of 36.8 to take first place in the All Around. Panthers senior Liz Traphagen was second in All Around, notching a 34.75. Franklin results: Vault – Lizotte (9.35), Traphagen (8.55), Lexi Lupien (8.4), Rachel Cyr (8.3), Audrey DiMella (8.2), Katelyn Guidi (8.0), Sophie Redwine (7.9), Chloe Barac (7.8). Canton, 60 @ Boston Latin, 46 – FinalCanton trailed after eight minutes of play but built a five-point lead at halftime, and doubled that going into the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs qualified for the state tournament with the win. Junior Devin Foster had a team-high 21 points while senior Tony Harris had 18 points.

Boys Hockey
Foxboro, 1 @ Franklin, 6 – FinalFoxboro trailed by just two goals after two periods but Franklin put the game away with three third period goals. CJ Spillane, TJ Durkin, Dan Magazu, Shane McCaffrey, Joe Lizotte and Scott Elliot each scored once for the Panthers while Josh Bertumen scored for Foxboro in the second period.

Taunton, 1 @ King Philip, 4 – FinalKing Philip scored a pair of goals in the first period and had a quick response in the second after Taunton cut it to one to beat the Tigers. Sophomore Jack Coulter buried a rebound on a shot from freshman Rocco Bianculli just under five minutes into the game. Sophomore Joe Boselli doubled the lead five minutes later, firing a low shot after a feed from defenseman Mike Curtin. Taunton’s Will Walsh took a feed from Cam Sneyd, used his first touch to get past the defenseman and then used a nice move, finishing backhand to cut the deficit to 2-1 just two minutes into the second. But less than three minutes later, Curtin drove a hard slap shot through traffic to put KP up 3-1. Luke D’Amico added an empty net goal in the final minute. Taunton sophomore Sean Bunker played well in net with 32 saves while KP goalie Shane Frommer had 19 saves.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ Mansfield, 2 – FinalOliver Ames stole the momentum with a goal late in the first period and then capitalized on it with two second period goals to beat Mansfield. The Hornets scored first and last, but the Tigers had three straight between the first and second periods. Mansfield sophomore Kevin Belanger tallied his first career goal just over two minutes into the game, getting a tip on Tim Arnold’s shot. Oliver Ames’ Rory Madden tied the game with 30 seconds left in the opening frame, burying a rebound off a shot from Matt McCormack. Just over two minutes into the second, the Tigers took the lead when Brett Williams batted in a rebound off a shot from Ryan Gottwald, with Madden also notching an assist. Six minutes later, solid forechecking from Ross Carroll and Adam Lyons resulted in the puck squirting free to top of the circles where OA senior Michael Nikiciuk stepped into a slapshot for a 3-1 lead. Mansfield sophomore Joseph Troiano recorded his first career goal in the third period, taking a pass from Tyler Oakley before depositing his slap shot into the back of the net.

Canton, 5 vs. Dedham, 0 – FinalCanton’s Lauren Fitzpatrick recorded her 50th career point in the Bulldogs’ big win over Dedham.

Franklin, 1 vs. Westwood, 3 – Final

King Philip, 6 vs. Dover-Sherborn/Hopkinton, 0 – FinalKing Philip scored three goals in each the first and second periods to build a big lead over DS/Hopkinton. Nicole Connor scored a pair of goals while Alli Meehan, Allie Wilson, and Katie Crowther each netted one goal apiece. Lilly Potts and Cristina Coleman combined for the shutout in goal.

Canton, 21 @ North Attleboro, 46 – FinalNorth Attleboro had success with the lower and upper weights in a division win over Canton, clinching at least a share of the Davenport title for the second straight year, and fourth league title overall. “The best part was our execution on our feet,” North head coach Wayne Griffin said. “The team’s take-downs are getting better and better along with other aspects of our wrestling.” Ethan Smith (106), Brady Folan (113), Adam Eberle (160), Brad White (195) and Matteus Kudra (220) had pins for North while Anis Chakir (132), Max Gallagher (138) and Cole Murphy (182) had pins for Canton.

Oliver Ames, 49 @ King Philip, 28 – FinalOliver Ames picked up some momentum heading into the league championships on Saturday with a division win over King Philip. Remy Creighton (106), Greg Griffin (120), Chris Belleton (160), Jay Fruci (195) and Dean Pacini (220) all won by pins for the Tigers while Casey Bellevue (132) had a major win and Brandon Belleton (138) had a minor win.

The Tigers’ defense forced 20 turnovers to help hand Coyle just its third loss of the season. Senior Lens Esquil led the way with 14 points while Dante Law added 12 points. Junior John Martins chipped in with 10 points, including two clutch free throws in the final seconds. Prince Brown had two big three-pointers in the fourth quarter to help Taunton create separation.

Mia Lizotte scored an 8.90 on vault and a 9.1 on floor, senior Molly Stanton’s score on beam, junior Rachel Cyr’s vault score, freshman Katelyn Guidi score on bars, and freshman Lexi Lupien’s scores on vault, beam and, floor all counted towards the Panthers’ win.

Oliver Ames, 139.2 @ Taunton, 119.95 – FinalOliver Ames senior Hannah Moynihan took first place in the All-Around with an impressive 36.15 to help the Tigers improve to 5-0. Moynihan scored a 9.1 on vault, 9.2 on bars, and 9.0 on the floor. Junior Gianna Martucci placed second with a 34.95 all around. Sophomore Lauren Picanzi contributed a 9.1 on bars. Other contributors for OA included senior Charis MacCuish, sophomore Tina O’Neill, and freshmen Ashlyn Latham and Kiara Nagle.

Boys Basketball
Mansfield, 64 @ Attleboro, 51 – FinalMansfield opened the second half with a 12-2 surge, turning a deficit into an eight-point lead and never looked back. Attleboro held a 30-28 lead at the break but Mansfield took control of the game by outscoring the Bombardiers 22-8 in the frame. Mansfield senior John McCoy dropped a career-high 24 points, hauled in nine rebounds, had five assists and four steals to lead the Hornets, who totaled 10 steals as a team. Damani Scott tied a career-high with 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Ryan Otto chipped in with 10 points. Attleboro sophomore Bryant Ciccio tied a career-high with 17 points.

Milford, 51 @ Canton, 61 – FinalCanton connected on 14 three-pointers as a team, jumping out to a 19-5 lead at the end of the first quarter, and a 30-17 lead at the break. The Bulldogs furthered the lead with a 21-12 third quarter. Senior Tony Harris led the way with 18 points while classmate Austin Maffie netted 17 points for the Bulldogs. Milford junior Brendan White led the Hawks with 14 points.

Stoughton, 41 @ Foxboro, 54 – FinalFoxboro increased its lead after each of the first three quarters to beat the visiting Black Knights. The Warriors led 16-11 after one, 31-20 at the halftime break, and 43-29 heading into the final quarter. Sophomore Brandon Borde led the way offensively with a game-high 19 points while senior Bobby Harrison added 14 points and senior Joe Morrison chipped in with 13 points. Stoughton head coach John Gallivan noted that Alex Sjoquist played well defensively for the Black Knights.

King Philip, 53 @ Oliver Ames, 51 – FinalKing Philip outscored Oliver Ames 21-14 in the third quarter to take a lead and held off a late comeback attempt from OA to earn the win. The Warriors had eight players get on the score sheet, led by Brendan King’s 11 points. Both Pharoah Davis and Tom Madden added nine points while Tim Nault chipped in with seven points. Jack Spillane led Oliver Ames with 23 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, while junior Ethan Eckstrom scored 11 points.

North Attleboro, 67 @ Sharon, 61 – FinalNorth Attleboro overcame an early 16-2 deficit with a strong second half to earn the win. Sharon led 16-7 after the first quarter and 27-20 at the halftime break. Big Red came out with a huge third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 18-7 to seize a lead, and then built a 62-47 lead with just under two minutes to play. North senior Chad Peterson came off the bench, hitting three triples in the second half on his way to a game-high 15 points. Josh Montague added 13 points, Ethan Friberg scored a career-high 11 points (10 in the second half) and junior Jake Petersen had eight points. Sharon senior Malik Lorquet had a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds while Alex Kaufmann added 16 points and Jimmy Fitzhenry had 11 points and three steals.

Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 31 @ Mansfield, 52 – FinalMansfield opened a one-game lead on Attleboro in the league standings with the win. Meg Hill scored 15 points, had 11 boards, and blocked three shots for the Hornets, who also got 11 points from Erin Daniel, eight points and six assists from Mady Bendanillo, and eight points and nine rebounds from Maggie Danehy. Attleboro got 10 points from Sam Pierce and eight points from Liv McCall in the loss.

Foxboro, 74 @ Stoughton, 46 – FinalAshley Sampson scored 23 points to lead the Warriors to a seventh straight win, six of which were by double digits. Lily Sykes added 15, Shannon Smally had 13, and Grace Tamulionis had 10 points for Foxboro. Stoughton sophomore Shyanne Trinh led the Black Knights with 10 points.

Franklin, 55 @ Taunton, 41 – FinalSophomore center Ali Brigham recorded a triple-double to help the Panthers earn the road win and stay within a game of first place Mansfield. Brigham scored 15 points, recorded 13 rebounds, and had 10 blocks on the night.

Oliver Ames, 47 @ King Philip, 34 – FinalLeading 32-28 with four minutes to play, Oliver Ames closed the game with a 15-6 run to put the game away and earn the win. Senior Kayla Raymond had a monster night with 30 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks to lead the way for the Tigers, who trailed KP 16-14 at the half. Alex Sheldon added 10 points and eight rebounds in the win for OA.

Sharon, 51 @ North Attleboro, 49 – FinalTelishya Herbert led the way with 17 points for the Eagles, who earned their first league win of the season. Emma Eberhardt added 13 points in the win.

Lizotte earned an 8.85 on beam, an 8.7 on bars and a 9.2 on both vault and floor. Franklin senior Liz Traphagen was second for the Panthers on the vault (8.2) and the floor (9.0). Junior Sadie Rondeau was second for the Panthers on both the bars and the beam.

Trailing 2-1 with just over a minute to play, sophomore Tom Tasker scored to tie the game. Right off the faceoff, senior Jeremy Miller scored the game-winning goal. Senior Luke Downie put the Panthers on the board in the second period.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ North Attleboro, 1 – FinalOliver Ames junior defenseman Matt McCormack scored on the power play with three minutes left to lift Oliver Ames to a non-league win over North Attleboro. But the Warriors answered quickly as Meghan Gorman put KP back in front with her second goal of the game. Defenseman Nicole Connor carried the puck in from the blue line, evaded multiple DY defenders, and dished a pass to Gorman, who was open in front. Gorman had the opener for KP off an assist from Kyleigh Remmes. Junior Ali Wilson put KP ahead 2-0 while junior Alli Meehan gave the Warriors insurance with a goal in the third period, assisted by Talia Quinn. Defensemen Katie Crowther, Jess Daniels, Marin Cormier, and Madda Kelly kept DY scoring opportunities to a minimum through the second and third periods.

Sharon Quad (Sharon, Hingham, Norton, Danvers) – Sharon pinned down a pair of wins at its own quad meet on Saturday morning. The Eagles beat both Hingham (41-36) and Danvers (46-36), but fell to powerhouse Norton (52-15). Senior captains Matt Callan (145) and Sam Mandelbraut (132) each win 3-0 on the day while freshman Jack Landstein (113) earned his first career win.

Gymnastics
Franklin, 131.75 @ Taunton, 125.25 – FinalFranklin opened its season with a win over Taunton. Junior Mia Lizotte was first in the All-Around with a 36.15, edging out Taunton’s Elise Ferreira (34.1). Lizotte was first in the vault (9.45), bars (8.30), beam (9.20) and floor (9.2). Franklin freshman Lexi Lupien scored an 8.45 on the vault, senior Liz Traphagen scored 8.05 on the bars and 9.1 on the floor, and junior Sadie Rondeau scored 8.40 on the beam for the Panthers. Freshman Katelyn Guidi also placed on the bars.

Taunton, 0 @ Oliver Ames, 5 – FinalOliver Ames’ Cullen Gallagher registered three points, with two goals and an assist to pace the hosting Tigers. Juniors Eric LeBlanc and Rory Madden each had a goal while senior Jared Costello had two assists. OA Goalie Zach Walsh made nine saves to record his first shutout of the season.

Wrestling
St. John’s Shrewsbury Quad (Canton) – Canton went 0-2 at the meet, falling to both Lynnfield-North Reading and St. John’s Shrewsbury.

Foxboro @ Duxbury Quad – Foxboro went 2-0-1 on the day. The Warriors rolled past Quincy 70-6 then beat No. 8 ranked Marshfield 42-33. Foxboro finished the day with a 39-39 tie with No. 4 ranked Methuen.

Franklin @ Merrimack Duals, – Franklin finished second out of 11 teams at the team duals, going 4-1 overall. Franklin beat Biddeford (Maine) 48-19, Alvirne (N.H.) 46-22, St. Johnsbury (Vt.) 49-6, and Lawrence (Mass.) 40-20. The Panthers lost to Marshwood (Maine) 45-18 in the final match.

Whitman-Hanson Quad (King Philip, Sharon) – Sharon went 3-0 at the Whitman-Hanson Quad. The Eagles beat KP to start the day, 51-21, and then followed it with wins against North Quincy (60-24) and Whitman-Hanson (54-18).

Cape Cod Invitational (Mansfield, Taunton) – Mansfield claimed the team title at the Cape Cod Invitational with 136.5 points. Freshmen Antonios Sevastos (106) and Vinnie Holmes (170) both finished first at their weight classes, while Will Stratton (126) and Ford DelVecchio (22) both took second place finishes. Taunton had three wrestlers place: Alex Rodriguez (138) placed second, Nuno Camara placed (182) was third and Woudanly Danger (220) placed fourth.

Canton, 120.8 @ Franklin, 123.4 – FinalFranklin junior Liz Traphagen won the all around with a 34.7 – scoring a 8.3 on vault, 8.7 on bars and beam and a 9.0 on floor – to lead the Panthers to their first win since reestablishing the program. Sophomore Sadie Rondeau was second in all around with a 33.2 – scoring an 8.1 on vault, 7.4 on bars, 8.0 on beam and 8.2 on floor.

Peckham Tournament (Canton, Sharon) – Canton took second overall with 243 points at the 20th annual Peckham Tournament while Sharon grabbed fourth place with 176 points. Norton won the tournament with 289 points. First place finishes for Canton included Harry Carter (120), Eddie Marinilli (126), Anis Chakir (132), Joe Pacitti (152) and Mark Whalen (220). Sharon’s Ian Langol-Leonard won the 195 bracket.

Oliver Ames, 137.3 @ Attleboro, 141.5 – FinalOliver Ames totaled its highest all around team score in four years but fell just short to Attleboro. OA sophomore Gianna Martucci placed third in the all around with a 35.75, scoring an 8.9 on both vault and bars, an 8.75 on beam, and a 9.2 on floor. Freshman Lauren Picanzi placed fourth overall with a 35.2, scoring an 8.8 on vault, 8.9 on bars, 8.6 on beam, and an 8.9 on floor for the Tigers. OA junior Charis MacCuish tied for first on the bars with a 9.4.
