Sharon junior Daphne Theiler has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Nov. 8 through Nov. 14. Theiler is the sixth player chosen as Player of the Week for the 2020-21 school year.

Theiler closed out her impressive junior season by running away with the individual title at the annual Hockomock Cross-Country Championships, held last weekend at Highland Park. She improved on last year’s second-place finish (at the Wrentham Development Center) by taking first place by more than 14 seconds over Milford’s Emma Lawrence.

Last year in Wrentham, Theiler finished a distant second to Foxboro’s Abby Hassman. This past weekend in Attleboro, she improved her time by five seconds, finishing in 19:36.50 to take home the top prize. Theiler and Lawrence were the only two runners to break 20 minutes in this year’s race. The league race caps a perfect season for Theiler, who finished first in all five of Sharon’s dual meets, while also taking 14th at the Kelly Invitational in October and 32nd at the MSTCA Frank Mooney Invitational.

The Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, is selected by the HockomockSports.com staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at midnight. There may be a poll posted on every Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
