Hockomock League Honors 2026 Scholar Athletes

Below is a release from the Hockomock League regarding the 2026 Scholar-Athletes. These 24 student-athletes were honored at the annual league banquet on Thursday, May 7th at Lake Pearl.

The Hockomock League Principals and Athletic Directors are pleased to announce the 36th Annual Hockomock League Scholar Athlete Awards. The twenty-four athletes that are being honored have been selected by the Administration of their respective schools and represent the top student athletes in the Hockomock League based on academics, athletic participation, sportsmanship, leadership, and citizenship. They have all successfully balanced a demanding academic schedule along with participation in athletics as well as many extra-curricular activities during their high school career. To be selected for this award represents four years of dedication and commitment, and we are proud of all their accomplishments. We hope that these student-athletes will put all of their experiences over the past four years to good use and that those experiences will help guide them through the challenges ahead. We congratulate the parents and guardians for your contributions and guidance as you have enabled your child to reach this level of excellence. We are certain that the foundation you have given them will carry them through future endeavors.

Player of the Week: Aly Fernandes, Mansfield Soccer

Mansfield senior Aly Fernandes has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Oct. 5 through Oct. 11. Fernandes is the sixth athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year.

The league’s leading scorer, Fernandes had another massive week up top for the Hornets, helping them secure three wins, remain unbeaten this fall, and move into a first-place tie with Canton atop the Davenport division. The Hamilton College-commit scored five times and had three assists in Mansfield’s three wins last week.

Mansfield coach Aaron Salter said, “Aly has been excellent all season, contributing with both goals and assists while setting a shining example on and off the field. It’s not just her ability to find the back of the net that has made such a big impact on our season, but also her relentless work rate and willingness to battle for the ball and hold up play for her teammates.”

Fernandes started the week with a goal and an assist in a tough, non-league win at Bridgewater-Raynham. She scored the first and then set up Sophia Foley for the game-winner. Two days later, Fernandes was unstoppable in a win against Foxboro. She scored three goals and added an assist, as the Hornets scored seven. On Friday, Fernandes capped the week with another goal against Taunton. She now has 20 goals (best in the Hock) and nine assists on the season heading into Wednesday night’s title showdown with Canton.
